"At least 717 people have been killed in a stampede at the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia's civil defence directorate said, as the death toll continued to rise.
The directorate said at least 863 other pilgrims were injured in Thursday's stampede, which took place in Mina, on the outskirts of the holy city of Mecca.
The injured have been evacuated to four different hospitals in the Mina region, according to a civil defence spokesman.
Saudi Arabia's crown prince, Prince Mohamed bin Nayef, ordered a probe into how the tragedy had occurred.”*

Mecca (
/ˈmɛkə/; Arabic: مكة, Makkah, pronounced [ˈmækːɐ]) is a city in the Hejaz and the capital of Makkah province in Saudi Arabia. The city is located 70 km (43 mi) inland from Jeddah in a narrow valley at a height of 277 m (909 ft) above sea level. Its resident population in 2012 was 2 million, although visitors more than triple this number every year during Hajj period held in the twelfth Muslim lunar month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
As the birthplace of Muhammad and a site of the composition of the Quran, Mecca is regarded as the holiest city in the religion of Islam and a pilgrimage to it known as the Hajj is obligatory upon all able Muslims. The Hijaz was long ruled by Muhammad's descendants, the sharifs, either as independent rulers or as vassals to larger empires. It was absorbed into Saudi Arabia in 1925. In its modern period, Mecca has seen tremendous expansion in size and infrastructure. Because of this Mecca has lost many thousand years old buildings and archaeological sites. Today, more than 15 million Muslims visit Mecca annually, including several million during the few days of the Hajj. As a result, Mecca has become one of the most cosmopolitan and diverse cities in the Muslim world, although non-Muslims remain prohibited from entering the city.

Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (Urdu: ذاکر عبدالکریم نائیک; born 18 October 1965) is an Indian public speaker on the subject of Islam and comparative religion. He is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), a non-profit organisation that owns the Peace TV channel based in Dubai, UAE. He is sometimes referred to as a televangelist. Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a doctor. He has written two booklets on Islam and comparative religion. He is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology; he places a strong emphasis on individual scholarship and the rejection of "blind Taqlid", which has led him to repudiate the relevance of sectarian or Madh'hab designations, all the while reaffirming their importance.
Zakir Abdul Karim Naik was born on 18 October 1965 in Mumbai, India. He attended St. Peter's High School in Mumbai. Later he enrolled at Kishinchand Chellaram College, before studying medicine at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital and later the University of Mumbai, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). His wife, Farhat Naik, works for the women's section of the IRF.

Malcolm X ( /ˈmælkəm ˈɛks/; May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965), born Malcolm Little and also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Arabic: الحاجّ مالك الشباز), was an African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist. To his admirers, he was a courageous advocate for the rights of African Americans, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans. Detractors accused him of preaching racism, black supremacy, antisemitism, and violence. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history.
Malcolm X's father died—killed by white supremacists, it was rumored—when he was young, and at least one of his uncles was lynched. When he was thirteen, his mother was placed in a mental hospital, and he was placed in a series of foster homes. In 1946, at age 20, he went to prison for breaking and entering.
In prison, Malcolm X became a member of the Nation of Islam and after his parole in 1952 he quickly rose to become one of its leaders. For a dozen years Malcolm X was the public face of the controversial group, but disillusionment with Nation of Islam head Elijah Muhammad led him to leave the Nation in March 1964. After a period of travel in Africa and the Middle East, he returned to the United States, where he founded Muslim Mosque, Inc. and the Organization of Afro-American Unity. In February 1965, less than a year after leaving the Nation of Islam, he was assassinated by three members of the group.

Muslims often narrate that they take Non Muslims to a tour of their mosque. After the tour is finished, the Non Muslims would start looking around the mosque and the Muslims would ask them. Bro! The Kabaa is a cubical shaped building, covered with a beautiful black cloth embroidered with gold Quranic verses.
All Muslims around the world face the Kaaba during prayers, no matter where they are
When performing piligrimage, Muslims walk around the Kaaba 7 times while reciting verses. When reaching the spot of the Black Stone (in the eastern corner of the kabaa), the piligrims salute it. It is believed that this stone fell from Heaven.
the piligrims also drink ZamZam water, the holy water that was revealed to Hagar, Abraham's wife, when she desperately was looking for water in the desert.
The mosque within the Kabaa location is beautiful. Its arches interlace in an infinite design.

With several outstanding art galleries, including the high-profile Burrell Collection, and several excellent museums as a starting point, Glasgow was chosen as a European City of Culture in 1990. You can see Glasgow's tradition of great design in the classical architecture of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and the organic, art nouveau style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Today, Glasgow's School of Art continues to produce world-class talent.
Glasgow has a proud history - the long list of inventors, engineers, writers and architects of the 19th and 20th centuries were part of the driving force of industrialisation, tamed by socially progressive values in the 'second city' of the British Empire. Around 1900, Glasgow was one of the wealthiest cities in the world, which led to a number of lavish Victorian public buildings springing up to symbolise its riches. The city also became an important shipbuilding centre -- it was here that Cunard's QE2 was built - and was well known for its Clydeside engineering works.
Despite the subsequent decline of these industries in the 20th century, the devastation wrought by WWll and the profound impact of post-war urban malaise on social housing, jobs, crime and inner city deprivation, Glasgow has bounced back with a definite spring in its step.
Since the 1980s, the last 30 years has been seen the city transform, thanks to investment from the city council and the Scottish Development Agency; the riverside area has regenerated and its arts, music and culture scenes are flourishing. Glasgow was declared a UNESCO City of Music in 2008 in recognition of its musically diverse output ranging from classical and contemporary to country and Celtic, while The Turner Prize will be presented here in 2015, the first time the accolade will be handed out in Scotland.
Meanwhile, the Merchant City -- one of the city's oldest districts formerly home to monks and merchants -- has been revitalised with boutique hotels, bars, restaurants, shops and galleries now occupying previously derelict market buildings and old warehouses.
In addition, Glasgow is preparing to limber up for the international spotlight when it will play host to 4,500 athletes as part of the 20th Commonwealth Games in 2014. Most events will take place in venues spread across the west, south and eastern parts of the city, while over £2 billion has been pumped into improving transport.
Thanks to its geographic location, visitors to Glasgow can nip to some of the most stunning landscapes in the country, with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park less than an hour's drive away and a mecca for adventure and outdoors-lovers.

Constructed of stone, its use is restricted to the Mormon religion. It was built between 1853 and 1893 in grey granite New Gothic style with six towers, its main one being 68 metres high. Construction of the Cathedral of the Madeleine began in 1900 and was completed in 1909, a Christian building whose exterior is of Romantic design and with a Gothic interior. Once both faith and diligence established this remarkable place. Since then, Salt Lake City has become the centre of a hugely successful religious empire.

Among the famous vessels built at Belfast through the decades are the RMS Titanic and its sister ships, Olympic and Britannic.
A great deal of Belfast’s modern identity stems from over three decades of political and religious strife. These issues have influenced much of the city’s public art, as a great number of murals and statues depict people and events from those times. A walk around this easily accessible city is a walk through that troubled past.
You’ll probably be hungry after exploring so much of the city’s history on your Belfast tour, so swing on down to one of the local pubs to drink a pint and share a meal with some of the locals. Just walk down the street and head into what venue catches your eye; the city is easily navigable on foot, and you never know what sort of delightful gallery, park, or restaurant you’re going to find just around the bend.

Climb Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North-Africa, passing lovely adobe villages and exploring the gorgeous Ourika and Amizmiz valleys on the way. The stunning panoramic view from the top will make it worth every bit of your effort to get there. Other praised hiking routes lead through the beautiful Ameln Valley in the Anti-Atlas and the wooded Rif Mountains in the very north.
Hop on a camel back for a trip through the golden Sahara sand dunes at Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga. Spend the night in a desert tent, under the incredibly starred sky. The Sahara is also accessible near the town of Zagora; it's easier to get to from Marrakech but doesn't have the imposing dunes of Erg Chebbi. Somewhat less easy to reach but therefor also less crowded are the dunes of Erg Chigaga near M'hamid. On your way to the desert, make sure not to miss the stunning Todra gorge near Tinghir. The ancient fortified city of Aït-Benhaddou is another must-see sight. Although rainstorms damage the mud-brick kasbahs time and again, this mostly abandoned village remains an impressive sight and has been the decor for a range of movies, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.

Along the Rio Guadalquivir is Córdoba. Today the former caliph’s residence of the Omaiyad is a lively city with an historic past. In 152 B.C. the town was founded during the rule of Claudius Marcellu and it was then that the Roman conquerors named it Corduba. Later the town became the capital of the province of Baetica, the hot southern region of Spain. At the beginning of the 8th century the town was the headquarters of its recent conquerors, Arabian governors and emirs and even today the architectural influence of the Moors is visible. In the 10th century A.D. the town reached the zenith of its prosperity. It is believed that almost a million people once lived in the ‘Mecca of the West’. The Great Mosque, today's Mezquita, was extended and enlarged during that time. Marble, jaspis and granite columns decorate the beautiful interior of the mosque that contains eight hundred columns. The old city of Granada extends across three hills, Sacromonte, the world famous Alhambra and Abaicín, a once densely populated Moorish district with almost thirty mosques. For several centuries around sixy thousand Moors brought the city’s maze of alleys to life but only a few of the historic Islamic buildings and mosques have survived. Seville is today’s pulsating capital of Andalucia and is still strongly influenced by the brilliant architectural achievements of the Moors. In former times the Real Alcázar was the residence of the region’s Arabic rulers but most of its buildings were constructed during the reign of Peter The Cruel. Casa De Pilatos is one of the most beautiful palatial buildings in Seville. The residence of the Dukes of Medinacelli was built between 1492 and 1520 following a pilgrimage by one of the dukes to the Holy Land. On his return journey, following the same route that the first Marqués of Tarifa took through Italy, he brought back several valuable columns and fountains made of carrara marble that today adorn the beautiful exterior and gardens of the residence. The shoreline of the Guadalquivir River in the land of flamenco is full of life and joie de vivre. The true heart of Spain surely lies in Andalusia in the hot southern region of the Iberian Peninsula.

Although only completed in 1988 it is an important symbol of Islam and five times a day the Muezzin calls to the faithful from its Minaret. In 1900 the Ottoman Sultan ordered the construction of the Hedjaz Railroad. It was designed to unite the Ottoman Empire that had begun to disintegrate as well as to transport Moslem pilgrims to Medina in the Hedjaz Mountains. Around thirty kilometres northwest of Amman is As-Salt that is situated between two mountain slopes. Up until the First World War this city that had a good supply of water and enjoyed a good climate, was the main metropolis of Trans-Jordan. Saladin had this fortress built on a twelve hundred metre high hill in 1184. Qal’at Ajlun was meant to be a defence against the approaching Crusaders and also to protect pilgrims on their way to Mecca. At an altitude of eight hundred metres is a place of great significance for the Jewish and Christian faiths, Nebo Mountain, where God revealed to Moses the Promised Land for the first time after his forty year journey from Egypt. Near Wadi Musa, The Valley Of Moses, is the fascinating and legendary rose red city of Petra. Its strategic location at the junction of six important caravan routes, including the famous Incense Road, brought much prosperity to the city. Although only completed in 1988 it is an important symbol of Islam and five times a day the Muezzin calls to the faithful from its Minaret. In 1900 the Ottoman Sultan ordered the construction of the Hedjaz Railroad. It was designed to unite the Ottoman Empire that had begun to disintegrate as well as to transport Moslem pilgrims to Medina in the Hedjaz Mountains. Around thirty kilometres northwest of Amman is As-Salt that is situated between two mountain slopes. Up until the First World War this city that had a good supply of water and enjoyed a good climate, was the main metropolis of Trans-Jordan. Saladin had this fortress built on a twelve hundred metre high hill in 1184. Qal’at Ajlun was meant to be a defence against the approaching Crusaders and also to protect pilgrims on their way to Mecca. At an altitude of eight hundred metres is a place of great significance for the Jewish and Christian faiths, Nebo Mountain, where God revealed to Moses the Promised Land for the first time after his forty year journey from Egypt. Near Wadi Musa, The Valley Of Moses, is the fascinating and legendary rose red city of Petra. Its strategic location at the junction of six important caravan routes, including the famous Incense Road, brought much prosperity to the city. The most impressive route to Petra travels through the Siq, a narrow gorge with huge sandstone walls. Jordan is a priceless gem located in the Near East with all the magical romance of the Orient!

Although the Mongols destroyed the inner buildings, the fortress walls survived. The Suq is an important part of every Islamic city, a market that originated in ancient times. Thousands of shops in numerous interconnected lanes form the commercial heart of Damascus. In the Gold Suq everything glitters, bracelets, rings and even a large variety of kitchen utensils. Damascus has for thousands of years been a place desired by the powerful. Yet it has managed to survive and is still the most beautiful capital city in the Near East.
