A team of American maritime archaeologists have reportedly located a 14 foot long giant human skeleton among ancient ruins in the Aegean Sea, some 220 km south-east of Greece.
This general location – near the island of Santorini – has of course long been considered as a possible resting place for the legendary sunken island of Atlantis.

Secrets of the aegean apocalypse
"The foreign countries (ie. Sea Peoples) made a conspiracy in their islands. All at once the lands were removed and scattered in the fray. No land could stand before their arms: from Hatti, Qode, Carchemish, Arzawa and Alashiya on, being cut off [ie. destroyed] at one time. A camp was set up in Amurru. They desolated its people, and its land was like that which has never come into being. They were

STORY: Three migrants were rescued from the sea off the coast of the Greek island of Lesbos on Thursday (October 1) by members of a Spanish NGO on board a rubber raft.
The group, called Pro-activa Serveis Aquatics, are life guards and have recently been helping migrants who crossed the narrow but precarious sea channel between Turkey and Lesbos on flimsy and overcrowded boats.
The group's members wait on the shore to offer first aid and blankets to the migrants who have been landing on the island's northern beaches.
On Thursday, they witnessed a boat capsize a few hundred metres away from the coast, spilling its passengers into the sea.
Several Pro-activa members found a dinghy with a working engine which had arrived earlier in the day and rode out into the sea to assist the Greek coast guard with the rescue. They pulled three migrants from the capsized boat aboard, and helped another migrant from a boat whose engine had stopped working.
Last month 34 migrants, almost half of them babies and children, drowned when their boat sank off another Greek island.
But the mass migration of migrants streaming into Europe from the Middle East and North Africa shows no sign of abating.
At least 430,000 migrants have taken rickety boats across the Mediterranean to Europe this year, 309,000 via Greece, according to International Organization for Migration figures.
On Lesbos alone, around 2,000 people have been arriving daily for nearly three months.
Almost all refugees and migrants quickly move on out of Greece and up through the Balkans towards wealthier countries in the EU's north and west, especially Germany and Sweden.
The United Nations refugee agency warned last week that the current flow of up to 8,000 migrants each day into Europe may only be the "tip of the iceberg".

Ancient History Documentary: The Secrets of the Aegean Apocalypse
This ancient history documentary, the Secrets of the Aegean Apocalypse, is about an ancient epic destruction that seems to have ended the Bronze Age.
Around 1,200 BC, during the Bronze Age, an ancient Armageddon destroyed nearly every known civilization. Although it was predicted thousands of years ago, no one saw it coming. This was the disaster that was mentioned in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey and in the Old Testament. What could have caused this epic destruction?
One archaeologist has dedicated his life to following clues rediscovering the ancient pathways that lead up the sheer cliffs of the Aegean. He follows the footsteps of the survivors hoping to discover how and why their world collapsed.
The theories are many, but most now include one mysterious and massively destructive factor - a force only the Egyptians survived to name: The Sea People.
Who were these warriors and how could they take down the world's greatest powers in a span of just 50 years?
Scale the dizzying heights of Crete's mountain fortress with archaeologist Krzysztof Nowicki as he searches for clues.

NATO ships are making their way to the Aegean Sea to help Turkey and Greece crackdown on criminal networks smuggling refugees and migrants into Europe.
The alliance's top commander said he was working quickly to design the mission, just hours after defence ministers agreed to use their maritime force to help combat traffickers.
Although the plan is still to be detailed to NATO generals, the allies are likely to use their ships to work with Turkish and Greek coastguards and the European border…

Real GIANT SKELETON found in LOST CITY OF ATLANTIS?!
Could it be… that Atlantis was a city of giants?
Is this finally irrefutable proof for the existence of giant peoples on Earth?
…And, AND, have we also found the famous Lost City of Alantis, under the Aegean Sea!?
What an absolutely incredible pair of discoveries!
We thank you all very much for participating in this remarkable event – a celebration of history, science and discovery,
Mr. Lionel J. Theodore
P.S the quality music featured – called “The Maker” – was composed by PETER MCISAAC MUSIC

They were coming forward toward Egypt, while the flame was prepared before them. Their confederation was the Peleset, Tjeker, Shekelesh, Denyen and Weshesh, lands united. Russia's defense ministry said one of its warships had to fire warning shots at a Turkish vessel to avoid a collision. The ministry added that the Turkish ship failed to respond to earlier warnings and came within nearly five-hundred meters of the Russian warship before changing course. This is the latest incident that might further stoke tensions between Russia and Turkey. The two countries are already engaged in a war of words that began after Ankara shot down a Russian fighter jet over the Syrian territory last month.

This lifestyle is sought by the millions of visiting tourists: the narrow, winding alleys, the many characteristic Cycladic houses protected from the sun by venetian blinds and ornamented by geranium and leander. From the taverns resting in the shade of vine-arbours one can see the boats and yachts floating on the sea. The wind from the sea slowly turns the wheels of the windmills, while the beaches are full of happy people.

Travel video about destination Rhodes in Greece.
Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese, a group of Greek islands located in the southeast of the Aegean Sea just off the west coast of Turkey. Since antiquity its unique location has brought it both power and wealth. On the northernmost tip of the island is the fascinating metropolis of Chora Rodos whose harbor entrance was once adorned by the Seventh Wonder of The World, the Colossus of Rhodes. But the legendary lighthouse has long since gone and today, excursion boats and yachts crowd the island’s former trading harbor that has a rich and dramatic past.Byzantines, Arabs, The Knights of the Order of St. John, Ottomans and Italians, each one influenced the ever-changing history of the island that was first settled in 400 B.C.At the city’s highest point is the huge palace of the Grand Master, the monumental junction of the Street of the Knights and the command post of the Christian order. The Grand Master was the highest dignitary of the Order of the Knights of Malta, a lifetime office. The Street of the Knights leads from the Palace of the Grand Master down the hill to the Hospital, a unique ensemble of Gothic medieval architecture set amid the Mediterranean. The main buildings of the various groups of knights were erected along the main street and it was here that the knights met and conferred according to their membership of various European regions.Rhodes is an island steeped in history as well as the calm lifestyle of the Mediterranean.

Fira, the capital of Santorini, sits 1,000 feet above the Aegean Sea, nestled along the cliff tops of the famous Greek island.
To better understand the people of Fira and Santorini, head for the Lignos Folklore Museum. This community staple, situated in a cave house, was once a winery, and now holds shoemaking and carpentry workshops. While there, you can also check out its traditional wine cellar and the island’s archives. You’ll get an outstanding sense of the people who used to live on this island: tough, hard-working farmers and craftsmen who helped make Santorini what it is today.
Your Fira tour continues through the narrow roads and whitewashed houses to the photo op of your dreams. Fira—and its neighboring towns in Santorini—boasts what many call one of the best views of the sunset in the world. Every night, residents and tourists alike gather on the cliff tops to watch the sun descend into the sea, turning the sky a brilliant purple before the stars come out.
When the sun goes down, Fira really wakes up. Head over to the cocktail bars, the nightclubs, and the lounges to enjoy good food, good company, and great fun as you dance or chat the night away.
What will you do during your Fira sightseeing?

Travel video about destination Greece.
Although Greece is the home of ancient gods, birthplace of European civilisation and a country of great warriors and philosophers it is also a country of many islands with tiny villages and white houses, a deep blue sea and almost constant sunshine.Athens is a lively city set in historic surroundings. Unique among all other Greek temples is the Acropolis whose imposing appearance and artistic decoration signified the great influence and power of ancient Athens. Six female figures, the Karyatides, support the southern hall of the Ionic Temple of Erechtheion that stands on sacred ground close to the main temple. The imposing Mitrópolis is the main Greek Orthodox cathedral in Athens. A total of four architects designed this cathedral whose walls comprise the remains of no less than seventy former sacred buildings. The Cyclades Islands are situated in the middle of the Southern Aegean that like a magic circle flows around its former centre, the sacred island of Delos, Mykonos. For centuries this picturesque former pirate village in the middle of Cyclades group of islands has been the meeting place for artists, V.I.P.’s and the international glitterati. The Cyclades are also known as The Pearls Of Greece and it seems as though the gods have scattered a handful of beautiful pearls into the deep blue Aegean Sea. In ancient times they were also known as The Islands Of Light because Apollo, the God of Light and Learning, was born here and also worshipped on the islands. Santorini is the most southerly of the Cyclades Islands and the legendary location of the mythical lost island of Atlantis and also a breathtaking island paradise of rock, lava, sea and light.Crete is the ‘Island Of Light’ and the birthplace of Zeus. Heraklion is the capital of the largest and most southerly of the Greek islands on which a highly developed culture has existed for four thousand years. It’s no wonder that in these magnificent islands in the Aegean numerous gods, knights and tourists have always found much good fortune and enchantment!

Greece Travel Guide http://bit.ly/19QqISc
Shepherd Entertainment gives you the history of Saloniki Bay in Chalkidiki and takes you on a journey through the area's
mythology. It's visitors can enjoy the famous Mount Olympus, known from mythology as the permanent residence of the 12 main deities, the beautiful azure blue water of the Aegean Sea and the medieval castle Platamonas.000a
Greek people are very good at preserving the treasures they're given by nature. One quarter of the land of the country can be cultivated and despite aridity and the lack of any bounteous rivers, these disadvantageous qualities are counterbalanced by hard work and endurance. Regardless of where we travel in the country, we can meet a mythological story anywhere. No wonder we're in the cradle of mythology. The famous Mount Olympus is known from mythology as the permanent residence of the 12 main deities. An important characteristic of Greek mythology is that it is very personal. People weren't afraid of their gods creating instead a humanlike world in their midst in order to alleviate the fear of the unknown. Some written recollections of Greek mythology have remained for us, written by Homer, Hesiod, Pindar, Aeschylus, Euripides, Sophocles, Aristophanes, Herodotus, Plato, Pausanias, and from the Roman era, Virgil and Ovid.
Olympus has 52 peaks with highlands, caves, ponds, springs and a lot of plants if which 23 are so rare, that they can only be found only there. Its highest peak is Mitikas at 2917m rising over the clouds. Spring and autumn often bring fog to the mountainside and in summer, it's soaked by thunder storms. Some spots are covered with snow even in summer. The mountain is a protected natural park where hunting, skiing and camping are forbidden. Only climbing is allowed. Tours start in Litochoro at the foot of the mountain from where a tourist route leads up to 2000m with some shelters on the way. The peak is still three hours away from here recommended only to experienced climbers. We can enjoy an amazing view looking down from the mountain even if we pass up climbing to the peak. We can rest our eyes on well maintained inhabited settlements and the beautiful azure blue water of the Aegean Sea.
Leaving Olympus behind and continuing southward towards the sea, we catch sight of the medieval castle Platamonas on the hillside densely overgrown with oak trees. The castle is characterized by Byzantine and Franconian architecture. Its walls are polygonal with square towers and bastion walls with tiny stones. Its entrances and inner courtyard are protected by several bastions. The name of the castle is -- or Castle of the Beautiful Maiden because according to legend, the beautiful lady who lived here was kidnapped by the Turks.

Welcome to Oia, Greece, a small community residing on the northernmost tip of Santorini. While it’s now a relaxing holiday getaway for visitors from all over the world, this sleepy Aegean town, perched on the clifftops around a former volcanic caldera, once boasted a powerful merchant fleet.
Any tour of Oia allows you to see the remains of some of this power scattered throughout town. A number of captains’ houses, built in the 1800s, are positioned near the top of the caldera and feature commanding views of the town and the turquoise Aegean Sea. One of these mansions has been restored and repurposed as the Naval Maritime Museum, inviting you to stop by during your Oia sightseeing. While there, you’ll learn about the history of seafaring in the area. Check out the figureheads, old charts, antique equipment, and stunning architecture that features vaulted ceilings and terraced rooftops.
Oia tourism leans heavily on rest and relaxation. Many visiting artists were taken with the beautiful natural scenery and ended up moving to the island. As a result, Oia has a number of art galleries. Wander through the village’s narrow streets, stroll in and out of those galleries, and meander to a café overlooking the sea where you can continue to relax. You’ll realize exactly why these creative folks fell so deeply in love with Oia.
When you’re ready to bid the sun farewell, you’ll have a lot of company. Sunset is a big deal in this small community, and you’ll make new friends when you gather on Oia’s many viewing platforms to watch this spectacular event.

The characteristic white-walled buildings of Santorini are standing upon each other in a happy disorder. The narrow alleys show us a new miracle at each turn. The top of our house is the other house’s balcony, from where there is a perfect view on the dark blue water of the Aegean Sea. The venetian blinds summon the color of the blue sky, the rows of cubic houses are sometimes broken by a blue-domed temple or a windmill. The balconies are full of geranium. The smell of gyros is in the air, from the cafes we hear the bouzouki, and the sight of the sunset from the taverns is unforgettable. The sun is scorching, one can smell the salty air and hear the seagulls, while down below the white boats sail towards their unknown destination.

Greece Travel Guide http://bit.ly/19QqISc
Shepherd Entertainment takes you on a tour of Rhodes, the largest island of the Dodecanese Islands which lies in the Aegean
Sea not far from Asia Minor from which it was separated at the beginning of the Tertiary Period.
The 1400 square kilometer island of Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese Islands. It lies in the Aegean Sea not far from Asia Minor from which it was separated at the beginning of the Tertiary Period. It's closer to the coast of Turkey than Greece. Its coast is 220 kilometers long and its highest mountain is more than 1200 meters high. First, the island was inhabited by the Aegeans then it was overthrown by the Dorian invasion. The prosperity of the towns on the islands which took part in the Trojan War with nine galleys is mentioned several times by Homer in his Iliad.
Their favorable geographical position and prosperity stemming 0:37 from this location have made the island an economic and political power. Rhodes created some colonies even in the times before Christ not only in Asia Minor but also on the territory of present-day France.
The town by the same name which was put on the map by becoming one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Colossus of Rhodes was built on the north eastside of Rhodes Island on the territory of three ancient poelis in 408 BC. The statue depicted Helios the sun god when finally, the Macedonian King Demetrious withdrew after an unsuccessful siege of the town lasting one year, his abandoned battle machines were sold by the Rhodians and the huge bronze statue was erected from the amount of money received.
The 31 meter high art works stood in the harbor of Mandraki and below its two sprawling legs, boats were running, guarded at night by a flare in the hand of the statue. It took 12 years for Cares of Lindos, the Greek sculptor, to build the work of night and only one night for an earthquake to destroy it. The remains stood on its place for more than 800 years.
The present day town combines the ancient lineation of the streets and the gothic buildings of the middle ages with the masks and marionettes of oriental atmosphere. The Johanites played a dominant rule in the town's history and architecture. The town walls were built by members of the Johanite Military Order together with the best officers of the engineering core of the era.
The center of the old town is a Hippocrates Square adorned with a fountain. An amazing view of the square opens up from terraces of nearby taverns and restaurants. The busy streets with several little shops look like a real Turkish bazaar which is of course no coincidence since we are in the Turkish quarter. The Turkish as is in the case of every conquered area left their mark on this place in the form of Turkish spas, jammies, masks and marionettes.
Rhodes was able to preserve its glory and prosperity until the appearance of the Holy Roman Empire. Nowadays, the island is frequently called the Island of Roses. However, hardly any roses can be seen here but there is an abundance of oleander and hibiscus. The name can be traced back to the sun god called of the inhabitants of the island. According to the myth, Helios fell in love with the nymph Rhode, the daughter of Poseidon.
The sovereign military order of St. John of Rhodes was established in the 11th century in Jerusalem. Driven out of the holy land, they tried to settle down in Cyprus. Then in 1306, they bought the Dodecanese from Genoese pirates. The order of the militant monks who wore red vest decorated with a crucifix on top of their chain armor became more and more influential. The Johanites became extremely wealthy by obtaining the fortune of their rival that is of Knight's Templar Order with papal assistance. Their fleet of black galleys played a significant role in commercial shipping. Meanwhile, the knights were continuously working on fortifying their towns. Sometimes, the town walls were 13 to 15 meters thick. They could resist two ottoman attacks. However, they couldn't defy the 100000 strong army of Suleiman the Magnificent and the Sultan conquered Rhodes in 1522. Following the battle, the knights were expelled to the Island of Crete, then Malta and their order has been know as the Order of Malta ever since.
The Johanites consisted of seven groups of different nationalities that were called Languages. Languages such as English; German, Italian, Spanish, French as well as Auvergnat and Provencal were spoken. The languages had their own commanders who chose the Templar Grand Master which was almost equal to royal status.

Take a tour of Santorini in Greece -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
Hi, I am Naomi and I am very excited to show you the world's greatest attractions.
Cut into harsh cliffs, Santorini boldy faces the shining Aegean Sea.
Classic white-washed buildings give the island a dazzling feel.
Santorini sits perched atop a volcanic crater, now a lagoon.
Watching ships come off the sea brings memories of celebrated Greek epics.
The island offers plenty of opportunities to relax and to explore its calming surroundings. Dine on its delicious wines and fanciful flavors.
Some believe its volcanic eruption was the source of the legend of Atlantis.
Either way, the island is surely one of epics, legends, and fairy tales.
Thank you for watching our travel video series. See you next time!

Shepherd Entertainment gives you the history of Macedonia, who's name remained the same since the emergence of the first
Greek tribes thousands of years ago. Discover its exceptional cultural, archeological and mythological heritage and enjoy the spectacular views.
The name of this ancient country, Macedonia has remained the same since the emergence of the first Greek tribes thousands of years ago. This is the oldest area of the country. According to legend, this is the home of deities and the place where they had to protect their home against enormous giants. The land is a rich treasury of minerals and natural resources. Moreover, it has an exceptional cultural, historic, archeological and mythological heritage at the same time. Chalkidiki Peninsula is the southern promontory of Macedonia reaching the Aegean Sea which is one of the most frequented tourist resorts in Greece. The three regions of the rather small but unique peninsula are Kassandra, Sithonia, and the narrow promontory of Aegean Oros embedded in the sea. There are mountains with rich flora stretching over the three peninsulas, Casandrino, Thanos and Athos Mountains.
According to the great famous father of historiography, Hesiod, the war between the giants and gods took place on the Kassandra Peninsula in mythological times. The enormous giants having superhuman character desired the power of the Olympian deities but after the gods joining forces, their attack was repulsed in long recurrent battles. The clash has appeared as a rich abundant theme in Greek artworks up to our times. The region of Chalkidiki is varied due to its wide ranging forests, barren cliffs and canyons, rich vineyards, orchards and flower gardens, diverse and varied colored coast, and peaceful and deep bays.

Greece is the cradle of the European civilization, a quarry of mythology and ancient relics. On the Chalkidiki Peninsula we can visit the city of Thessalonica, the beaches of Katerini and Paralia, and from the boat we can take a look at the mystical monastery republic, Athos. Near the legendary Olympus Mountain we can take a look at the ‘rocks of gods’, the Meteora monasteries built on the sky-high cliffs. Athens’s well known building is the Acropolis, which is garlanded by the golden pillars of the Parthenon. The Agora was the marketplace of the ancient Athens, while the Plaka is a current, full of life eastern bazaar. From the capital the visitors can take journeys to the canal of Corinth and to the beaches of the Attican Riviera. From the dock of Pireus it is easy to take a boat and visit the islands of the Aegean and Ionic Sea. The islands tell us of Romans, Byzantines, pirates and knights. Among the olive tree gardens and orange trees white houses, temples and sunlit ruins are hiding. The sea is blue in the bays surrounded by beaches and on the terrace of a tavern the flavors of the Greek cuisine are always welcome.

Dodecanese is the name of a group of Greek islands that is located in the southeast of the Aegean Sea just off the Turkish coast. It warrants more than its name of ‘Twelve Islands’, as it contains more than 19 inhabited and around 50 small uninhabited islands.Kos is the green pearl of the Aegean, a historic oasis beneath the Greek sun. Not the largest of the Dodecanese Islands but certainly one of its most fascinating. The capital of the island is Chora Kos. Following their arrival from Jerusalem in the 14th century, the Order of the Knights of Malta built a huge fortified complex in the town. The city’s spacious square is surrounded by numerous buildings plus a museum. There are stone busts and statues of the Roman and Hellenistic eras that offer a good insight into the imaginative culture of a golden age. In the square, a number of steps lead up to the city’s cathedral, the Agia Paraskevi. Not a large structure but extremely modern and well located in the centre of the town.Only four kilometres from the city, high in the Dikeos Mountains is one of the island’s most important sights, the asklepieion, an ancient hospital and sanctuary. It was here that the Greeks worshipped the god of medicine who was later named Askulap by the Romans.Rhodes was one of the most important cities in antiquity and fended off attack due to its impressively tall defensive walls. The mighty-looking fortification was in reality a deception, as it was far from sturdy but its many defensive towers and pinnacles had their desired effect.Lindos is the most beautiful village in Rhodes with Paulus Bay and an acropolis that is located high above the sea.It was here that the sun was born and where the gods, knights and tourists have always sought good fortune and been captivated with the enchanting islands of the Dodecanese.

Santorini (Greek: Σαντορίνη, pronounced [sandoˈrini]), classically
Thera (English pronunciation /ˈθɪərə/), and officially Thira
(Greek: Θήρα [ˈθira]), is an island in the southern Aegean Sea,
about 200 km (120 mi) southeast of Greece's mainland. It is
the largest island of a small, circular archipelago which bears
the same name and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera. It forms
the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands, with
an area of approximately 73 km2 (28 sq mi) and a 2011 census
population of 15,550. The municipality of Santorini comprises
the inhabited islands of Santorini and Therasia and the uninhabited islands of Nea Kameni, Palaia Kameni, Aspronisi, and Christiana. The total land area is 90.623 km2 (34.990 sq mi). Santorini is part of the Thira regional unit.
Santorini is essentially what remains after an enormous volcanic
eruption that destroyed the earliest settlements on a formerly
single island, and created the current geological caldera. A giant
central, rectangular lagoon, which measures about 12 by 7 km
(7.5 by 4.3 mi), is surrounded by 300 m (980 ft) high, steep cliffs
on three sides. The main island slopes downward to the Aegean Sea. On the fourth side, the lagoon is separated from the sea by another much smaller island called Therasia; the lagoon is connected to the sea in two places, in the northwest and southwest. The depth of the caldera, at 400m, makes it possible for all but the largest ships to anchor anywhere in the protected bay; there is also a newly built marina at Vlychada, on the southwestern coast. The island's principal port is Athinias. The capital, Fira, clings to the top of the cliff looking down on the lagoon. The volcanic rocks present from the prior eruptions
feature olivine and have a small presence of hornblende.

Aegean civilizations
Aegean civilization is a general term for the Bronze Age civilizations of Greece around the Aegean Sea. There are three distinct but communicating and interacting geographic regions covered by this term: Crete, the Cyclades and the Greek mainland. This video was filmed at the life jacket graveyard on Lesbos, Greece. The Refugee is a new song about the refugee crisis happening right now on the shores of Europe. Millions of people from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan (and surrounding countries) have risked their lives crossing the Aegean Sea; hoping to claim asylum in Europe.

Human rights campaigners have insisted NATO ships on anti-people smuggling operations in the Aegean Sea must also carry out search-and-rescue operations for people in distress.
NATO announced on Thursday it is sending war ships to help Turkey and Greece counter people smugglers and “stem the flow” of migrants.
Three military vessels from NATO’s Standing Maritime Group 2 have been ordered to “start to move now” and head for the Aegean Sea to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance operations, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday.
Amnesty International insisted the NATO ships must comply with international law by providing assistance to refugees when needed.“Any NATO ships that witness a boat in distress must provide immediate life-saving assistance. Hundreds of refugees, including many children, have already died this year attempting the treacherous journey across the Aegean,” said Amnesty International European Institutions Office chief Iverna McGowan.
“In no way must NATO forces become yet one more barrier between refugees and the international protection they are legally entitled to.
“Intercepting refugees attempting to reach Europe and pushing them back to Turkey – where 2.5 million are already hosted – would be a serious violation of their right to claim asylum, and would fly in the face of international law.”
Amnesty is also calling on European countries to immediately scale up plans to resettle refugees from Turkey. The group insists that offering refugees legal and safe alternative travel routes is the only way to deter people from making perilous sea crossings.
Reuters reported on Thursday that NATO will send any refugees saved from drowning to Turkey.

God Of War I - Fase 1: AEGEAN SEA - Mar Egeu - Parte 03
Volte e siga reto. Veja a animação.
Fim desta parte.
