METROSEMARANG.COM – Semarang Jip Comunity (S.J.Co) bersama Boja Jip Comunity (Bojic) kembali menggelar 4×4 Offroad Central Java Adventure yang ke empat, Jumat (13/11).
Bertajuk “Back to basic Offroad, 3 Days No Resque” para pecinta offroad yang berasal dari berbagai daerah indonesia akan berusaha menaklukkan rute extrem yang melewati tiga wilayah, Semarang, Kendal dan Ungaran.
Total ada 57 tim offroad yang mengirimkan tiga mobil untuk menghadapi rute adventure tersebut selama tiga hari lamanya hingga 15 November mendatang tanpa adanya tim rescue.
“Ini event ke empat. Kali ini tanpa menggunakan tim resque. Sehingga diharapkan lebih menantang,” kata Supriyanto ketua penyelenggara yang merupakan anggota S.J.Co.
Tidak adanya tim penyelamat tentu membuat para offroader mempersiapkan benar-benar kondisi kendaraannya. Terlihat, sebelum pelepasan yang digelar di halaman Museum Ranggawarsita Semarang, masing-masing tim melakukan pengecekan terhadap mobilnya.
“Mogok boleh dibantu boleh tim lain. yang penting di pos ada mobilnya. Ada dua pos. Pos terakhir atau garis finish di Wana wisata hutan Penggaron,” imbuh pria yang akrab disapa Mas Pri itu.
Sementara itu, salah satu peserta Offroad asal yogyakarta Bowo Herdiyanto mengaku sangat antusias menunggu jalannya race. Bersama tim Handi Kiartarto Sport Yogyakarta ia berharap mampu menaklukkan jalur offroad dengan maksimal.
“Ini yang kedua saya ikut. Bukan kemenangan yang tapi incar, tapi kebersamaan dalam menaklukan jalur ekstrem. Apalagi tanpa tim penolong, ini membuat kami tertantang,” ujar Bowo. (yas)

Central Java (Indonesian: Provinsi Jawa Tengah) is a province of Indonesia. The administrative capital is Semarang. It is one of six provinces on the island of Java. This province is the province of high Human Development in Indonesia and its Points Development Index countries is equivalent to Lebanon. The province of Central Java is 39,800.69 km2 in area; approximately a quarter of the total land area of Java. Its population was 30,380,687 at the 2010 Census, making it the third most-populous province in Indonesia after West Java and East Java, and constituting a bit less than one quarter of the crowded island's population.
Central Java is also a cultural concept that includes the Special Area and city of Yogyakarta. However, administratively the city and surrounding region has been part of a separate special region since Indonesian independence.
Located in the middle of the island of Java, the Central Java province is bordered by West Java and East Java provinces. A small portion of its south region is the Yogyakarta Special Region province, fully enclosed by the Central Java province. Yogyakarta is historically and culturally part of the Central Java region, although it is currently a separate political entity. To the north and the south, the Central Java province faces the Java Sea and the Indian Ocean. Central Java also includes offshore islands such as Karimun Jawa Islands in the north, and Nusakambangan in the southwest.

Sejarah Tercipta di Sritex Arena SEJAK edisi perdana Honda Developmental Basketball League (DBL) Central Java Series-South Region pada 2010, tidak sekali pun wakil Karanganyar merengkuh gelar juara. Padahal, tiga musim terakhir tim basket putri SMAN 1 dan SMKN 1 Karanganyar bergantian masuk final party. Namun, percobaan tersebut selalu digagalkan oleh tim yang sama: SMA Regina Pacis Solo (Regpac). Nah, “kutukan” itu akhirnya berhasil dihentikan SMKN 1 Karanganyar musim ini. Tim besutan Ari Prasetyo Wibowo tersebut menjadi champion Honda DBL Central Java Series-South Region 2015 setelah mengalahkan juara bertahan Regpac pada final di Sritex Arena, kemarin (19/8). Pertarungan kedua tim sejatinya berjalan cukup alot. Di dua kuarter awal, baik Regpac maupun Sakra –julukan SMKN 1 Karanganyar) sama- sama berbagi angka. Yakni 8-8 di kuarter pertama dan 17-17 di kuarter kedua. Selepas jeda, Sakra mulai menemukan formula untuk mengatasi lawan. Dua motor penggerak permainan Regpac, guard Debora Septiani dan center Sharleen Regina dibuat mati kutu. Sebaliknya, duet Sakra Nofilia Ristikawati dan Desi Retno Ningsih dibiarkan bergerak bebas. Sakra pun menjauh 27-22 di kuarter ketiga. Di kuarter penentuan, Sakra kembali di atas angin. Keran poin juara bertahan sedikit tersendat karena hanya mampu menambah 4 poin lewat aksi Ellen Amalia Fristando dan Sharleen Regina. Saat Regpac macet, Sakra justru menggila. Mereka akhirnya menciptakan sejarah sebagai tim asal Karanganyar pertama yang merebut titel champion dengan keunggulan 44-26. Tak hanya itu, Nofilia Ristikawati dan Desi Retno Ningsih menjadi top performer dalam laga kemarin. Keduanya menjadi pemain tersubur dengan sama-sama mengoleksi 16 poin. “Kami bersyukur bisa mencatat rekor sebagai tim Karanganyar pertama yang sukses menjadi juara Honda DBL di Solo. Title juara ini kami persembahkan kepada seluruh keluarga besar SMKN 1 Karanganyar yang sudah mendukung perjalanan kami sejak penyisihan sampai final,” ucap pelatih Sakra Ari Prasetyo Wibowo kepada Radar Solo. Sementara itu, kekecewaan tergambar di wa jah para pemain Regpac. Sebab, peluang me reka untuk mengawinkan gelar untuk ka li keempat berturut-turut gagal terwujud mu sim ini. Sebagai catatan, Regpac putra ja di juara setelah mengalahkan SMAN 1 Klaten. “Sulit membayangkan kenapa anak-anak bermain jelek sekali. Kami terlalu banyak melakukan foul, sering gagal di free throw dan kalah di under ring. Defense lawan juga ketat sekali,” ujar pelatih Regpac putri, Wongso Suseno mengomentari kekalahan timnya. METROSEMARANG.COM – Semarang Jip Comunity (S.J.Co) bersama Boja Jip Comunity (Bojic) kembali menggelar 4×4 Offroad Central Java Adventure yang ke empat, Jumat (13/11). Sejarah Tercipta di Sritex Arena SEJAK edisi perdana Honda Developmental Basketball League (DBL) Central Java Series-South Region pada 2010, tidak sekali pun wakil Karanganyar merengkuh gelar juara. Padahal, tiga musim terakhir tim basket putri SMAN 1 dan SMKN 1 Karanganyar bergantian masuk final party. Tidak adanya tim penyelamat tentu membuat para offroader mempersiapkan benar-benar kondisi kendaraannya. Terlihat, sebelum pelepasan yang digelar di halaman Museum Ranggawarsita Semarang, masing-masing tim melakukan pengecekan terhadap mobilnya.
“Mogok boleh dibantu boleh tim lain. yang penting di pos ada mobilnya. Ada dua pos. Pos terakhir atau garis finish di Wana wisata hutan Penggaron,” imbuh pria yang akrab disapa Mas Pri itu.
Sementara itu, salah satu peserta Offroad asal yogyakarta Bowo Herdiyanto mengaku sangat antusias menunggu jalannya race. Bersama tim Handi Kiartarto Sport Yogyakarta ia berharap mampu menaklukkan jalur offroad dengan maksimal.
“Ini yang kedua saya ikut. Bukan kemenangan yang tapi incar, tapi kebersamaan dalam menaklukan jalur ekstrem. Apalagi tanpa tim penolong, ini membuat kami tertantang,” ujar Bowo. (yas)

Namun, percobaan tersebut selalu digagalkan oleh tim yang sama: SMA Regina Pacis Solo (Regpac).
Nah, “kutukan” itu akhirnya berhasil dihentikan SMKN 1 Karanganyar musim ini. Tim besutan Ari Prasetyo Wibowo tersebut menjadi champion Honda DBL Central Java Series-South Region 2015 setelah mengalahkan juara bertahan Regpac pada final di Sritex Arena, kemarin (19/8). Pertarungan kedua tim sejatinya berjalan cukup alot. Di dua kuarter awal, baik Regpac maupun Sakra –julukan SMKN 1 Karanganyar) sama- sama berbagi angka. Yakni 8-8 di kuarter pertama dan 17-17 di kuarter kedua.
Selepas jeda, Sakra mulai menemukan formula untuk mengatasi lawan. Dua motor penggerak permainan Regpac, guard Debora Septiani dan center Sharleen Regina dibuat mati kutu. Sebaliknya, duet Sakra Nofilia Ristikawati dan Desi Retno Ningsih dibiarkan bergerak bebas. Sakra pun menjauh 27-22 di kuarter ketiga.
Di kuarter penentuan, Sakra kembali di atas angin. Keran poin juara bertahan sedikit tersendat karena hanya mampu menambah 4 poin lewat aksi Ellen Amalia Fristando dan Sharleen Regina. Saat Regpac macet, Sakra justru menggila. Mereka akhirnya menciptakan sejarah sebagai tim asal Karanganyar pertama yang merebut titel champion dengan keunggulan 44-26.
Tak hanya itu, Nofilia Ristikawati dan Desi Retno Ningsih menjadi top performer dalam laga kemarin. Keduanya menjadi pemain tersubur dengan sama-sama mengoleksi 16 poin. “Kami bersyukur bisa mencatat rekor sebagai tim Karanganyar pertama yang sukses menjadi juara Honda DBL di Solo.
Title juara ini kami persembahkan kepada seluruh keluarga besar SMKN 1 Karanganyar yang sudah mendukung perjalanan kami sejak penyisihan sampai final,” ucap pelatih Sakra Ari Prasetyo Wibowo kepada Radar Solo. Sementara itu, kekecewaan tergambar di wa jah para pemain Regpac. Sebab, peluang me reka untuk mengawinkan gelar untuk ka li keempat berturut-turut gagal terwujud mu sim ini. Sebagai catatan, Regpac putra ja di juara setelah mengalahkan SMAN 1 Klaten.
“Sulit membayangkan kenapa anak-anak bermain jelek sekali. Kami terlalu banyak melakukan foul, sering gagal di free throw dan kalah di under ring. Defense lawan juga ketat sekali,” ujar pelatih Regpac putri, Wongso Suseno mengomentari kekalahan timnya. (nik/fer)

Sebaliknya, duet Sakra Nofilia Ristikawati dan Desi Retno Ningsih dibiarkan bergerak bebas. Sakra pun menjauh 27-22 di kuarter ketiga.
Di kuarter penentuan, Sakra kembali di atas angin. Keran poin juara bertahan sedikit tersendat karena hanya mampu menambah 4 poin lewat aksi Ellen Amalia Fristando dan Sharleen Regina. Saat Regpac macet, Sakra justru menggila. Mereka akhirnya menciptakan sejarah sebagai tim asal Karanganyar pertama yang merebut titel champion dengan keunggulan 44-26.
Tak hanya itu, Nofilia Ristikawati dan Desi Retno Ningsih menjadi top performer dalam laga kemarin. Keduanya menjadi pemain tersubur dengan sama-sama mengoleksi 16 poin. “Kami bersyukur bisa mencatat rekor sebagai tim Karanganyar pertama yang sukses menjadi juara Honda DBL di Solo.
Title juara ini kami persembahkan kepada seluruh keluarga besar SMKN 1 Karanganyar yang sudah mendukung perjalanan kami sejak penyisihan sampai final,” ucap pelatih Sakra Ari Prasetyo Wibowo kepada Radar Solo. Sementara itu, kekecewaan tergambar di wa jah para pemain Regpac. Sebab, peluang me reka untuk mengawinkan gelar untuk ka li keempat berturut-turut gagal terwujud mu sim ini. A list of 226 Indonesian mountains has recently been compiled.
Hardly surprisingly in the world's largest archipelago, beaches are significant attractions. Aside from the obvious like Bali, there are wonderful beaches in off-the-beaten-track locations in Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi. In a nation of 18,000+ islands, the options are almost endless.
Indonesia has some of the largest remaining tracts of tropical forest anywhere in the world, and these support an incredibly diverse wildlife from Orangutans and other primates to critically endangered Javan Rhinoceros and Tigers, and an extraordinarily wide range of bird species. Forest areas recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites are Ujung Kulon National Park in West Java, and three huge parks in Sumatra, which together comprise the Tropical Rain Forest Heritage of Sumatra: Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park and Kerinci Seblat National Park.
Further east, Komodo Island is the home of the remarkable Komodo Dragon and a very diverse marine life. Close to the very eastern limit of Indonesia, the remote Lorentz National Park in Papua has a permanent glacier, and is the single largest national park anywhere in Southeast Asia.
Historical and cultural attractions

Borobudur in Central Java is the world's largest Buddhist monument, dating from the 8th century, and nearby Prambanan is a remarkable Hindu monument dating from just a few years later. Those two, together with the charm of Yogyakarta, make for a popular cultural combination in Central Java.
Also in Central Java, the Dieng Plateau is home to the oldest extant temples in Indonesia, predating Borobudur by some 100 years, and just north of Solo, the early man archaeological excavation at Sangiran is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In such a vast archipelago it is hardly surprising that there are some very distinct and unique cultures, often contained in relatively small areas. Bali has a unique Hindu culture, descended from the great Javanese Majapahit Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries. The whole island is adorned by beautifully kept temples (pura), and there is a seemingly endless procession of colourful ceremonies. Some of the better known are the mother temple at Besakih, Pura Ulun Danau Bratan, and Pura Uluwatu.

Indonesia is home to no less than 167 active volcanoes, far more than any other country. Some of the more accessible for visitors are in the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park and the Ijen Crater in East Java, Mount Rinjani in Lombok and perhaps easiest of all, Mount Batur in Bali. A list of 226 Indonesian mountains has recently been compiled.
Hardly surprisingly in the world's largest archipelago, beaches are significant attractions. Aside from the obvious like Bali, there are wonderful beaches in off-the-beaten-track locations in Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi. In a nation of 18,000+ islands, the options are almost endless.
Indonesia has some of the largest remaining tracts of tropical forest anywhere in the world, and these support an incredibly diverse wildlife from Orangutans and other primates to critically endangered Javan Rhinoceros and Tigers, and an extraordinarily wide range of bird species. Forest areas recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites are Ujung Kulon National Park in West Java, and three huge parks in Sumatra, which together comprise the Tropical Rain Forest Heritage of Sumatra: Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Gunung Leuser National Park and Kerinci Seblat National Park.
Further east, Komodo Island is the home of the remarkable Komodo Dragon and a very diverse marine life. Close to the very eastern limit of Indonesia, the remote Lorentz National Park in Papua has a permanent glacier, and is the single largest national park anywhere in Southeast Asia.
Historical and cultural attractions

Borobudur in Central Java is the world's largest Buddhist monument, dating from the 8th century, and nearby Prambanan is a remarkable Hindu monument dating from just a few years later. Those two, together with the charm of Yogyakarta, make for a popular cultural combination in Central Java.
Also in Central Java, the Dieng Plateau is home to the oldest extant temples in Indonesia, predating Borobudur by some 100 years, and just north of Solo, the early man archaeological excavation at Sangiran is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In such a vast archipelago it is hardly surprising that there are some very distinct and unique cultures, often contained in relatively small areas. Bali has a unique Hindu culture, descended from the great Javanese Majapahit Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries. The whole island is adorned by beautifully kept temples (pura), and there is a seemingly endless procession of colourful ceremonies. Some of the better known are the mother temple at Besakih, Pura Ulun Danau Bratan, and Pura Uluwatu.

An earthquake struck and for many centuries the buildings lay buried beneath the ground until, in1918, archaeologists began to reconstruct the main temples.The individual sections of the Candi Lorojongrang were rebuilt like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, which made the reconstruction process particularly laborious, but in 1953 the rebuilding of the central temples was completed. The Candi Siva Temple rises 47 metres into the sky and is the tallest in Prambanan and contains four inner chambers that face the four points of the compass. The main Hindu god, Shiva, is depicted in the southern chamber, whilst the sculpture of his reborn wife, Durga, is located within the temple’s northern chamber. Thankfully, due to the hard work and determination of many archaeologists, the symbolic meaning of the old Hindu god, Shiva, God of Destruction and Renewal, is well on its way to being fully realised.

Borobudur is a ninth-century Mahayana Buddhist monument in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome is located at the center of the top platform, and is surrounded by seventy-two Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.
The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path circumambulating the monument while ascending to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely, Kamadhatu (the world of desire); Rupadhatu (the world of forms); and Arupadhatu (the world of formless). During the journey, the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the wall and the balustrades.
Evidence suggests Borobudur was abandoned following the fourteenth century decline of Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms in Java, and the Javanese conversion to Islam. It was rediscovered in 1814 by Sir Thomas Raffles, the British ruler of Java. Borobudur has since been preserved through several restorations. The largest restoration project was undertaken between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, following which the monument was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage, where once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the monument, and Borobudur is Indonesia's single most visited tourist attraction.

The interesting place to see is Baturaden, located 15 km north of Purwokerto. Baturaden is a classical highland country in the foot of Gunung Slamet volcano. Central Java's outstanding resort is approximately 14 km north of Purwokerto. It occupies a fine site on the slope of Mount Slamet, at an elevation of 650 m above sea level. It has remarkable weather with a cool mountain breeze. The temperature ranges from 18 degree C to 25 degree C. The resort area is surrounded by nice gardens, hot springs, ponds and bungalow-style hotels. Other features include 200 ha of pine forest, a nearby market and marvelous views. Some European groups are known to spend a day trekking through its Splendid Natural Forest and Villages. Always green, the area is blessed with an abundance of natural water resources spouting out in numerous waterfalls and rivers, which flow between the huge boulders of hardened lava. The huge boulders also points out to Ravines and river bank and form some kind of path, apparently having rolled down from Mount Slamet during a eruption many centuries ago.
Baturaden is renowned for local tourism; with attraction of hot spring, trekking and camping. The main attraction for tourist is the Loka Wisata Baturaden, a recreational Park with a swimming pool, water slide, lake; children's play ground with an Old Dutch Merry-go-round, Hot water mineral spring and Botanical Gardens. We can come to spend the whole day, picnicking on the grassy lawn or along the river or bathing in the mineral waters, which contain sulfur. There are two natural hot spring in Baturaden, namely Pancuran Telu and Pancuran Pitu. The park connects with "Pancuran Tujuh" (Seven Fountains) of warm sulfuric spring water about 2,5 Km's away. The camping ground is called Wana Wisata. There are 76 hotels ranging from the star grade to the modest one for overnight stay. We can go perum berkoh there are one elite house in this city.

My family has gone to the Reservoir Gadjah Mungkur. Forest atmosphere still felt around the reservoir. Understandably, Winogiri is a mountainous district and has a forest. My great-grandfather was also previously settled around the reservoir Gadjah Mungkur, before the dam was built Gadjah Mungkur, my great-grandfather had inhabited the area around the reservoir. Said my great-grandfather, Wonogiri derived from the word "Wono" (Javanese) which means forest, "Giri" (Javanese) which means mountain. So if the city is woven into the mountainous jungle. Prior made dam, as most western upstream or downstream of the first Solo River (Upper Solo river is upstream of Winogiri and Ponorogo), so a lot of flooding in both downstream and at the mouth of the East Java. By Mr. President Soeharto, in build this reservoir to hold water while the flow of the river in the vicinity eyes both of Pacitan and Wonogiri river itself. People who inhabit the Gadjah Mungkur in transmigration to Sumatra, most prefer to settle in the vicinity of the reservoir Gadjah Mungkur. Including my great-grandfather's sister whose house is also now used as a reservoir.
That is so Winogiri is not separated from the history of my life. How does the landscape of Gadjah Mungkur reservoirs?

Keluarga ku telah pergi ke Waduk Gadjah Mungkur. Suasana Hutan masih terasa di sekitar waduk. Maklum, Wonogiri memang merupakan kabupaten yang bergunung dan mempunyai hutan. Kakek Buyutku juga sebelumnya menetap di sekitar waduk Gadjah Mungkur, sebelum di bangun waduk Gadjah Mungkur, kakek buyutku sudah mendiami daerah sekitar Waduk tersebut. Kata Kakek Buyutku, Gadjah Mungkur berasal dari kata "Wono" (Bahasa Jawa) yang berarti Hutan, "Giri" (Bahasa Jawa) yang berarti gunung. Sehingga jika dirangkai menjadi kota yang bergunung hutan. Sebelum dijadikan waduk, karena hulu paling barat atau hulu pertama dari Sungai Bengawan Solo (Hulu bengawan Solo adalah Hulu dari Wonogiri dan Ponorogo), sehingga banyak terjadi banjir baik di hilir maupun di muara yakni di Jawa Timur. Oleh Bapak Presiden Soeharto, di bangunlah waduk ini untuk menampung sementara aliran sumber air mata dari sungai di sekitarnya baik sungai dari Pacitan dan Wonogiri sendiri. Masyarakat yang mendiami daerah Gadjah Mungkur di transmigrasi ke Pulau Sumatera, sebagian besar lebih senang menetap di sekitar daerah waduk Gadjah Mungkur. Termasuk saudara perempuan Kakek Buyutku yang rumahnya juga sekarang dijadikan waduk tersebut.
Itulah sehingga Wonogiri tidak lepas dari kehidupan sejarah ku. Bagaimana pemandangannya waduk Gadjah Mungkur?

My family has gone to the Reservoir Gadjah Mungkur. Forest atmosphere still felt around the reservoir. Understandably, Winogiri is a mountainous district and has a forest. My great-grandfather was also previously settled around the reservoir Gadjah Mungkur, before the dam was built Gadjah Mungkur, my great-grandfather had inhabited the area around the reservoir. Said my great-grandfather, Wonogiri derived from the word "Wono" (Javanese) which means forest, "Giri" (Javanese) which means mountain. So if the city is woven into the mountainous jungle. Prior made dam, as most western upstream or downstream of the first Solo River (Upper Solo river is upstream of Winogiri and Ponorogo), so a lot of flooding in both downstream and at the mouth of the East Java. By Mr. President Soeharto, in build this reservoir to hold water while the flow of the river in the vicinity eyes both of Pacitan and Wonogiri river itself. People who inhabit the Gadjah Mungkur in transmigration to Sumatra, most prefer to settle in the vicinity of the reservoir Gadjah Mungkur. Including my great-grandfather's sister whose house is also now used as a reservoir.
That is so Winogiri is not separated from the history of my life. How does the landscape of Gadjah Mungkur reservoirs?

Keluarga ku telah pergi ke Waduk Gadjah Mungkur. Suasana Hutan masih terasa di sekitar waduk. Maklum, Wonogiri memang merupakan kabupaten yang bergunung dan mempunyai hutan. Kakek Buyutku juga sebelumnya menetap di sekitar waduk Gadjah Mungkur, sebelum di bangun waduk Gadjah Mungkur, kakek buyutku sudah mendiami daerah sekitar Waduk tersebut. Borobudur, or Barabudur, is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues each of which is seated inside a perforated stupa. It is the world’s largest Buddhist temple,[2][3] as well as one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world.
Built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty, the temple was designed in Javanese Buddhist architecture, which blends the Indonesian indigenous cult of ancestor worship and the Buddhist concept of attaining Nirvana.[4] The temple also demonstrates the influences of Gupta art that reflects India's influence on the region, yet there are enough indigenous scenes and elements incorporated to make Borobudur uniquely Indonesian.[5][6] The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path around the monument and ascends to the top through three levels symbolic of Buddhist cosmology: Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness). The monument guides pilgrims through an extensive system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the walls and the balustrades. Borobudur has since been preserved through several restorations. The largest restoration project was undertaken between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, following which the monument was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
