This film is a biography of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the first President of Turkey. It shows his efforts to establish and modernize the Turkish Republic. The Film contains rare battle scenes from the World War I and the Turkish War of Independence as well.
The original title of this video is: The Incredible Turk (1958).
About Atatürk
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (19 May 1881 -- 10 November 1938) was an Ottoman and Turkish army officer, revolutionary statesman, writer, and the first President of Turkey. He is credited with being the founder of the Republic of Turkey. His surname, Atatürk (meaning "Father of the Turks"), was granted to him in 1934 by the Turkish parliament.
Atatürk was a military officer during World War I. Following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in World War I, he led the Turkish national movement in the Turkish War of Independence. Having established a provisional government in Ankara, he defeated the forces sent by the Allies. His military campaigns led to victory in the Turkish War of Independence. Atatürk then embarked upon a program of political, economic, and cultural reforms, seeking to transform the former Ottoman Empire into a modern, secular and European nation-state. Under his leadership, thousands of new schools were built, primary education was made free and compulsory, while the burden of taxation on peasants was reduced. The principles of Atatürk's reforms, upon which modern Turkey was established, are referred to as Kemalism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustafa_Kemal_Atat
The Gallipoli Campaign and the Turkish War of Independence
The Gallipoli Campaign, also known as the Dardanelles Campaign or the Battle of Gallipoli or the Battle of Çanakkale (Turkish: Çanakkale Savaşı), took place on the Gallipoli peninsula in the Ottoman Empire (now Gelibolu) between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916, during World War I. A joint British and French operation was mounted to capture the Ottoman capital of Constantinople (Istanbul) and secure a sea route to Russia. Following an unsuccessful naval campaign to force a passage through the Dardanelles, an amphibious landing was undertaken on the Gallipoli peninsula. The attempt failed, and after eight months of heavy fighting and many casualties on both sides the invasion force was finally evacuated. The campaign was one of the greatest victories of the Ottomans during the war and is considered a major failure by the Allies.

The Turkish War of Independence (Turkish: İstiklâl Harbi, literally meaning "Independence War" or Kurtuluş Savaşı, literally meaning "Liberation War;" May 19, 1919 -- July 24, 1923) was a war waged by Turkish nationalists against the Allies, after the country was occupied following the Ottoman Empire's defeat in World War I.
The Turkish National Movement (Kuva-yi Milliye) in Anatolia culminated in the formation of a new Grand National Assembly by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleagues. After the end of the Turkish-Armenian, Franco-Turkish, Greco-Turkish wars, the Treaty of Sèvres was abandoned and the Treaty of Lausanne was signed in July 1923. The Allies left Anatolia and Eastern Thrace and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey decided the establishment of a Republic in Turkey which was declared on October 29, 1923.

Kemalist ideology and Atatürk's reforms (Turkish: Atatürk Devrimleri)
Kemalism, also known as Atatürkism (Turkish: Kemalizm, Atatürkçülük, Atatürkçü düşünce), or the Six Arrows (Turkish: Altı ok), was the political ideology of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the principles that define the basic characteristics of the modern Republic of Turkey.
There are six fundamental pillars of the ideology: Republicanism (Turkish: cumhuriyetçilik), Nationalism (Turkish: milliyetçilik), Populism (Turkish: halkçılık), Secularism (Turkish: laiklik), Statism (Turkish: devletçilik) and Revolutionism (Turkish: devrimcilik).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemalist_ideology
Atatürk launched a programme of revolutionary social and political reform to modernise Turkey. These reforms included the emancipation of women, the abolition of all Islamic institutions and the introduction of Western legal codes, dress, calendar and alphabet, replacing the Arabic script with a Latin one. Abroad he pursued a policy of neutrality, establishing friendly relations with Turkey's neighbors.

Schiff calls on the Republic of Turkey to end religious persecution, return stolen church properties

"From the spring of 1915 and continuing for the next eight years, the forces of the Ottoman Empire -- police and military -- engaged in a genocide of the Armenian people living within the borders of their dying empire.
"When it was over, more than 1.5 million men, woman and children had been killed in the first genocide of the Twentieth Century. They were beaten, shot, marched to their deaths through scorching deserts or across frigid mountains and left where they fell. Families and entire communities were destroyed as the Ottomans did everything in their power to make a people disappear.
"But the physical near-annihilation of the Armenian people was not enough to satisfy the Turks' desire to wreak vengeance on Armenia, which was the first nation in the world to adopt Christianity as its official religion in AD 301. Their campaign against the Armenians was broader and was aimed at destroying not only the Armenian people, but also their history, their culture and their faith.
"When Ottoman forces began to massacre their Armenian neighbors ninety-five years ago, there were nearly 2,000 Armenian churches in what is now Turkey. Fewer than 100 remain standing and fully functioning today. One of the world's oldest Christian communities has, for the most part, disappeared from its ancestral homeland.
"While the Armenian Genocide stands as a singular event, the persecution of the Armenians has continued and much of it centers on the Armenians' status as a Christian minority in an overwhelmingly Muslim country, where discriminatory laws are used to confiscate church property and prevent free worship. And other Christian communities, especially the Greek Orthodox, have also been the victims of Turkish intolerance.
"In northern Cyprus, which was invaded by the Turkish Army in 1974, churches have been left to rot, cemeteries have been desecrated or fallen into disrepair, and priests are forbidden from accessing the churches they prayed in as children.
"Earlier this year the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom noted in its 2011 report: "The Turkish government continues to impose serious limitations on freedom of religion or belief, thereby threatening the continued vitality and survival of minority religious communities in Turkey."
"Ours is a nation that has prized freedom of religion. For more than two centuries we have stood for tolerance of other faiths, and American diplomats, members of Congress and presidents have consistently pressed other governments to respect and protect their minorities. This resolution is in the finest tradition of advocacy for those whose voices have been silenced, and I am proud to be an original cosponsor and to join my colleagues, especially Mr. Royce and Mr. Berman, the ranking member of the Foreign Affairs committee -- a friend who has been a leader on these issues throughout his years of service in the House.
"I urge a "yes" vote and yield back the balance of my time."

The Turkish Constitutional Court was established by the 1961 Constitution. It was modeled on the European constitutional justice practice. Like most European Constitutional Courts, it exercises a posteriori control of the consistency of the laws with the Constitution.
The Turkish Constitutional Court began to carry out its activities upon the enactment of the Law on the Establishment and Judgment Procedures of the Constitutional Court (No 44, 22 April 1962). The power to review the constitutionality of laws was endowed solely with the Constitutional Courtby the 1961 Constitution.
The system of constitutional review established by the 1961 Constitution was preserved in the 1982 Constitution with a few changes. In the 1982 Constitution, the Constitutional Court, being one of the highest constitutional organs, is on a par with the Grand National Assembly and the Executive and placed as the first judicial organ among "the High Courts". Articles 146-153 of the Constitution lay down in detail the composition, duties, working methods of the Constitutional Court and other issues concerning constitutional review. The Constitutional Court carried out its duties until 2011 according to the Law No 2949 (dated 10 November 1983).
Since the composition, powers and structure of the Court were changed considerably by the constitutional amendments in 2010, a new law was enacted in 2011. The new Law on Establishment and Rules of Procedures of the Constitutional Court (No 6216, 30 March 2011), spelling out the provisions of the Constitution, stipulates its organization, independence, proceedings, disciplinary infractions and disciplinary proceedings. The Law No 6216 vested in the Plenary of the Court the authority to regulate its rules. Therefore, the more detailed rules on the organization and procedure of the Constitutional Court are established by the Rules of Procedure of the Court.

Travel video about destination Turkey.
Turkey, ‘the land beneath the half moon’. We begin our journey in Istanbul, golden gateway to the Orient, a city that was once the centre of the Old World and still reflects two and a half centuries of history. On the opposite side of the Galata Bridge on the banks of the Golden Horn is the Yeni Cami Mosque with a large number of domes and minarets built one on top of the other plus a number of precious glass windows. The Grand Basare is a city within a city. Through a large gate there is a labyrinth of corridors that were built over many centuries. The enclosed market contains more than four thousand shops within its seemingly endless halls and it is possible to buy almost anything here. A vivid world full of the aromas of the orient. Near to the west coast of Turkey situated between Troy and Ephesos is one of the most famous and well preserved ancient cities of this region, Pergamon. This, in the Hellenic era, was an ancient cosmopolitan city the traces of which are still visible today. Marmaris is situated on the Turkish Riviera and was once well protected by a mediaeval fortress. In 1522 Sultan Süleyman The Splendid enlarged the small castle of the former Roman rulers as he wished to conquer the island of Rhodes. Ankara is the capital of the Republic of Turkey and this once Anatolian provincial backwater is today one of the country’s most modern cities and is a vibrant world metropolis. The biggest mosque in Turkey is the Kocatepe Camii which is both a symbol of the devoutness of the Turkish people as well as being an important centre of communication for the entire city. Turkey is a country of many faces, with fairytale-like mosques and palaces, legendary ancient cities and fascinating landscapes. It is a link between Asia and Europe, between East and West and an historic bridge between both Orient and Occident.

Take a tour of Cotton Castle in Turkey -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
The carbonate mineral deposits have formed the pristine white Pamukkale in southern Turkey.
Pamukkale is Turkish for cotton castle, even though it is made up of travertine limestone run-off from the area's hot springs.
This slow moving rock formation creates dazzling stalactites and terraces
The natural hot springs have drawn tourists to this site for thousands of years.
This site is the former home of Hierapolis, a Roman Bath town.
The waters here are said to be good for the skin and eyes, and can be a remedy for asthma as well.
Shoes must be worn in the hot springs, to protect the deposits of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Travel video about destination Ankara in Turkey.
Capital of the Republic of Turkey, Ankara is today one of the country’s most modern cities and a vibrant world metropolis that offers a diverse variety of leisure time activities as well as being steeped in both history and tradition. On a hill to the north is the largest and most splendid mosque in Turkey, Kocatepe Camii. Between 1967 and 1988 the imposing tower was constructed with the help of private donations. It is a replica of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, has four minarets, and accommodates around twenty thousand worshippers. Ankara’s old town is overlooked by a castle mound upon which the city’s citadel extends above the pinnacle. The city’s oldest settlement area is surrounded by one of the mighty castle walls and dates back to the time of the Hittites. The slope of the hill in front of the citadel is completely covered with Gecekondus, a mass of quickly-constructed buildings which at first only consisted of walls and a roof. They are unique buildings and many of those who reside in them originate from the region of the same name. There is a splendid zoo in the western outskirts of the city which, as with many of the city’s parks, originated in the early years of the Republic. Atatürk believed that parks and leisure areas in general were essential to the good health of the nation and hence of the new national capital. Ankara, Turkey’s capital city, is full of contradictions and yet it is the extraordinary charm of this remarkable metropolis that makes everything make sense

Travel video about destination Istanbul in Turkey.
Istanbul is the golden gateway to the Orient, a city that was once the centre of the Old World and still reflects two and a half centuries of history. Today, this turbulent metropolis on the Bosporus is Europe's connection with Asia Minor.
Today, this link between Europe and Asia has more than 15 million inhabitants and is not only Turkey's largest city, but is also a melting pot of various cultures. Once a Greek colony, Roman Imperial City and capital of the Osman Empire, Istanbul is full of colorful and dramatic history.
The European-style city district on the northern side of the Golden Horn was founded as a trading colony by Genoese traders in 1261. In subsequent centuries, the Europeans dominated the appearance and character of this area whose buildings and main street indicate the city's splendid past.
The Basilica Yerebatan Cistern once provided Constantinople with its water supply. Emperor Justinian I had this subterranean reservoir built. It holds 80,000 cubic metres of water. A forest of more than 300 decorated stone columns support the ceiling and it once served as a backdrop for a James Bond film.
A mighty gate is the entrance to the splendid world of the Turkish sultans, Topkapi Palace, the former centre of power of the Osman Empire. It's like a small town with many exquisite buildings and wonderful parks.
Leonardo Da Vinci's vision of a bridge across the Bosporus was for many years only a dream, but 470 years later, the dream became reality. At a height of 64 metres, two city districts have been united in addition to two continents and the contrasting lifestyles of two completely different worlds.
Istanbul is a melting pot of culture and religion with a captivating allure and an irresistible atmosphere of mystique.

Take a tour of Blue Mosque, Istanbul -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
Hi, I am Naomi and I am very excited to show you the world's greatest attractions.
Six thin minarets reaching for the heavens mark the Blue Mosque.
The stunning landmark was built in the early 1600s.
With its cascading domes and the namesake blue interior tiles, it is a truly unique structure.
The religious and historical significance make it one of Turkey's greatest treasures.
The Blue Mosque has awe-inspiring courtyards and several entrances.
Inside, the high vaulted ceilings are adorned with a bright mosaic of tiles.
Besides a place of beauty, the Blue Mosque remains a place of worship.
It is perfectly located, commanding views of the city and Bosphorus River.
Night lighting make the Blue Mosque a place of magic and wonder at all times.
Thank you for watching our travel video series. See you next time.

ADNAN OKTAR: If that is being a President of the Republic with affiliation to a political party, and at the same time preserving the unitary structure of the state by being against any separation, then we wouldn't say no to it. But presidential system is something we do not want. A president of the Republic will surely be a member of a political party. It is already apparent that he is a member of a party. Otherwise, that would be an insincere situation. So it is fitting to have a President who is also a member of a political party. But France should not be made an example. France is about to be parted because of this model as they are in grave trouble. France is currently suffering, struggling not to be separated. The problem of separatism is one of the biggest concerns of France right now. And it is caused by the political structure of France, it is not unifying. So we should not defend this system, which has brought France to the brink of separation. But, if Tayyip Master puts the idea of a President who is also a member of a political party forward, then it is fine. We wouldn't say no to such an article of law saying that the President of the Republic will also be affiliated with a political party. But they shouldn't bring France in this because France is heading towards a disaster. France does not have an exemplary attitude in this matter. A lot of regions want to separate themselves from France.
BULENT SEZGIN: Regarding the idea of "founding a Turkmen canton" becoming a current issue, Prime Minister Davutoglu said: "We do not approve the cantonization of Syria. Be it Arab, Turk or Kurd, the important thing is the unity of Syria. Especially, the security of Turkmen people is a significant matter for Turkey."
ADNAN OKTAR: But PKK found cantons right under the nose of Turkey, they fiercely continue to do so. Besides, the characteristic of the Greater Middle East Project is partition of the entire region and that its states will consist of cantons. And as a matter of fact, presidential systems pave the way for such separation. For example, the characteristic of the presidential system in France is again its being separatist.

Turkey (Listeni/ˈtɜrki/; Turkish: Türkiye [ˈtyɾcije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: About this sound Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (help·info)), is a parliamentary republic in Eurasia, largely located on the peninsula of Anatolia in Western Asia, with a smaller portion in East Thrace within the Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Syria and Iraq to the south; Iran, Armenia, and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; Georgia to the northeast; Bulgaria to the northwest; and Greece to the west. The Black Sea is to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Aegean Sea to the west. The Dardanelles, the Sea of Marmara, and the Bosphorus (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia. Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.
Turkey has been inhabited since the paleolithic age, including various ancient Anatolian civilizations, Aeolian, Dorian and Ionian Greeks, Thracians, and Persians. After Alexander the Great's conquest, the area was Hellenized, a process which continued under the Roman Empire and its transition into the Byzantine Empire. The Seljuk Turks began migrating into the area in the 11th century, starting the process of Turkification, which was greatly accelerated by the Seljuk victory over the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071. The Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm ruled Anatolia until the Mongol invasion in 1243, upon which it disintegrated into several small Turkish beyliks.
Starting from the late 13th century, the Ottomans united Anatolia and created an empire encompassing much of Southeastern Europe, Western Asia and North Africa, becoming a major power in Eurasia and Africa during the early modern period. The empire reached the peak of its power between the 15th and 17th centuries, especially during the 1520–66 reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. After the second Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1683 and the end of the Great Turkish War in 1699, the Ottoman Empire entered a long period of decline. The Tanzimat reforms of the 19th century, which aimed to modernize the Ottoman state, proved to be inadequate in most fields, and failed to stop the dissolution of the empire. The Ottoman Empire entered World War I (1914–18) on the side of the Central Powers and was ultimately defeated. During the war, major atrocities were committed by the Ottoman government against the Armenians, Assyrians and Pontic Greeks. Following WWI, the huge conglomeration of territories and peoples that formerly comprised the Ottoman Empire was divided into several new states. The Turkish War of Independence (1919–22), initiated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleagues in Anatolia, resulted in the establishment of the modern Republic of Turkey in 1923, with Atatürk as its first president.
Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic with a diverse cultural heritage. The country's official language is Turkish, a Turkic language spoken natively by approximately 85 percent of the population. 70–80 percent of the population are ethnic Turks; the remainder consists of legally recognized (Armenians, Greeks and Jews) and unrecognized (Kurds, Circassians, Albanians, Bosniaks, Georgians, etc.) minorities. The vast majority of the population is Muslim.[18] Turkey is a member of the UN, NATO, OECD, OSCE, OIC and the G-20. After becoming one of the first members of the Council of Europe in 1949, Turkey became an associate member of the EEC in 1963, joined the EU Customs Union in 1995 and started full membership negotiations with the European Union in 2005. Turkey's growing economy and diplomatic initiatives have led to its recognition as a regional power.

Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), officially the Republic of Turkey (About this sound Türkiye Cumhuriyeti , is a contiguous transcontinental country, located mostly on Anatolia in Western Asia and on East Thrace in Southeastern Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.
The area now encompassing present-day Turkey has been inhabited since the Paleolithic Age, including various Ancient Anatolian civilizations and Thracian peoples. After Alexander the Great's conquest, the area was Hellenized, which continued with the Roman rule and the transition into the Byzantine Empire.
Turkey was a major power in Europe during the early modern period and starting from the late 13th century, the Ottoman beylik united Anatolia and created an empire encompassing much of Southeastern Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. After the Ottoman Empire collapsed following its defeat in World War I, parts of it were occupied by the victorious Allies. The Turkish War of Independence, initiated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleagues, resulted in the establishment of the modern Republic of Turkey in 1923, with Atatürk as its first president.
Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic with a diverse cultural heritage. The country's official language is Turkish, a Turkic language spoken natively by approximately 85% of the population. Turks constitute 70% to 75% of the population. Minorities include Kurds (18%) and others (7--12%). The vast majority of the population is Muslim. Turkey is a member of the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD, OSCE and the G-20 major economies. Turkey began full membership negotiations with the European Union in 2005, having been an associate member of the European Economic Community since 1963 and having joined the EU Customs Union in 1995. Turkey is also a member of the Turkic Council, Joint Administration of Turkic Arts and Culture, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organisation. Turkey's growing economy and diplomatic initiatives have led to its recognition as a regional power.
The name of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye) can be divided into two components: the ethnonym Türk and the abstract suffix --iye meaning "owner", "land of" or "related to" (originally derived from the Greek and Latin suffixes --ia in Tourkia (Τουρκία) and Turchia; and later from the corresponding Arabic suffix --iyya in Turkiyya (تركيا).) The first recorded use of the term "Türk" or "Türük" as an autonym is contained in the Old Turkic inscriptions of the Göktürks (Celestial Turks) of Central Asia (c. 8th century).
The English name Turkey first appeared in the late 14th century, and is derived from Medieval Latin Turchia.
The Greek cognate of this name, Tourkia (Greek: Τουρκία) was used by the Byzantine emperor and scholar Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus in his book De Administrando Imperio, though in his use, "Turks" always referred to Magyars.
Similarly, the medieval Khazar Empire, a Turkic state on the northern shores of the Black and Caspian seas, was referred to as Tourkia (Land of the Turks) in Byzantine sources. However, the Byzantines later began using this name to define the Seljuk-controlled parts of Anatolia in the centuries that followed the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.
The Arabic cognate Turkiyya (Arabic: تركيا) in the form Dawla al-Turkiyya (State of the Turks) was historically used as an official name for the medieval Mamluk Sultanate which covered Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Hejaz and Cyrenaica.
The Ottoman Empire was commonly referred to as Turkey or the Turkish Empire among its contemporaries.

The Ottoman Empire (/ˈɒtəmən/; Ottoman Turkish: دَوْلَتِ عَلِيّهٔ عُثمَانِیّه Devlet-i Aliyye-i Osmâniyye, Modern Turkish: Osmanlı İmparatorluğu or Osmanlı Devleti), also known as the Turkish Empire, Ottoman Turkey or Turkey, was an empire founded in 1299 by Oghuz Turks under Osman I in northwestern Anatolia.
With Constantinople as its capital and control of lands around the Mediterranean basin, the Ottoman Empire was at the centre of interactions between the Eastern and Western worlds for six centuries. Following a long period of military setbacks against European powers, the Ottoman Empire gradually declined into the late nineteenth century. The empire allied with Germany in the early 20th century, with the imperial ambition of recovering its lost territories, joining in World War I to achieve this ambition on the side of Germany and the Central Powers.
The Armistice of Mudros, signed on 30 October 1918, and set the partition of the Ottoman Empire under the terms of the Treaty of Sèvres. This treaty, as designed in the conference of London, allowed the Sultan to retain his position and title. The occupation of Constantinople and İzmir led to the establishment of a Turkish national movement, which won the Turkish War of Independence (1919–22) under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal (later given the surname "Atatürk").
Turkey (Listeni/ˈtɜrki/; Turkish: Türkiye [ˈtyɾcije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: About this sound Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (help·info)), is a parliamentary republic in Eurasia, largely located in Western Asia, with the smaller portion of Eastern Thrace in Southeast Europe. The Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia.Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (pronounced [mustäˈfä ceˈmäl äˈtäˌtyɾc]; 19 May 1881 (conventional) – 10 November 1938) was a Turkish army officer, revolutionary, and the first President of Turkey. He is credited with being the founder of the Republic of Turkey. His surname, Atatürk (meaning "Father of the Turks"), was granted to him in 1934 and forbidden to any other person by the Turkish parliament.
Atatürk was a military officer during World War I.[2] Following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in World War I, he led the Turkish National Movement in the Turkish War of Independence. Having established a provisional government in Ankara, he defeated the forces sent by the Allies. His military campaigns led to victory in the Turkish War of Independence. Atatürk then embarked upon a program of political, economic, and cultural reforms, seeking to transform the former Ottoman Empire into a modern and secular nation-state. Under his leadership, thousands of new schools were built, primary education was made free and compulsory, and women were given equal civil and political rights, while the burden of taxation on peasants was reduced.
He died on 10 November 1938.

We, the citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Turkey deem it necessary this day, to stand united with a strong message to our home country calling for CHANGE. This has not been an overnight call neither is it one due to flimsy excuses. Through the years there has been systematic negligence of duties and nonchalant attitude from the foreign mission here in Turkey.
The foreign mission of a country is supposed to, amongst other things, provide consistent & helpful consular services to its citizens in the country it is stationed. This is a RIGHT, not a PRIVILEGE. For a long time now the mission has been like a Capsule, one that is totally disconnected from its citizens. Complains abound of the unprofessional ways and manners the staff deals with Nigerians in distress.
These distress situations range from citizens under immigrations proceedings to the ones trying to obtain one document or the other to avail them get married, regularize their stay and live better lives.
We step back to address the issues of our dead citizens in prisons whose properties still await the Embassy to sign for and collect., the notion that all Nigerians in Turkey are ill-informed and up-to-no-good and so should be treated like outcasts by their own foreign mission and the idea of the mission waiting till issues are at their boiling points before intervening is not a way to render services to your people.
We come here today to state with one voice, the voice of a civilized & peaceful people in diaspora saying: CHANGE IS NOW. The voice of citizens that love their country so dearly saying: CHANGE IS NOW. The collective voice of a people who wants its citizens to be well represented and respected saying: CHANGE IS NOW.
The change we seek is peaceful, honorable and just. We need qualified and vetted diplomats with the love of the country and citizens at heart NOT businessmen and women who are here mainly to use state Office and facilities for their personal courses. The mission under the headship of Mr. MallamMadori is too ineffective & divisive. We plead for his recall and those of his support staff.
In conclusion we cry out to our good leader, President Goodluck Ebele JONATHAN to kindly use his good Office to quickly effect this CHANGE. Dear President Jonathan, please withdraw these sycophants as quickly as possible. They neither help our courses nor those of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As we celebrate her 53rd Independence anniversary, we stand united to pray for peace & prosperity for her entire citizens both at home & in diaspora. God bless the Republic of Turkey and may he forever bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Thank you.
