Formally, a 4 story, 80 room dormitory in Le Mars Iowa was the primary field of Siouxland Airsoft. They have now been using a rather large peninsula on the border of South Dakota and Iowa.

Siouxland is a vernacular region that encompasses the entire Big Sioux River drainage basin in the U.S. states of South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
A "vernacular region" is a distinctive area where the inhabitants collectively consider themselves interconnected by a shared history, mutual interests, and a common identity. Such regions are "intellectual inventions" and a form of shorthand to identify things, people, and places. Vernacular regions reflect a "sense of place," but rarely coincide with established jurisdictional borders.
The lower Big Sioux River drainage basin stretches from Sioux City, Iowa, to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, an area that includes much of northwestern Iowa, the northeast corner of Nebraska, the southeast corner of South Dakota, and the extreme southwest corner of Minnesota.
The term "Siouxland" was coined by author Frederick Manfred in 1946. Manfred was born in Doon, Iowa, a small town in Lyon County.

Sioux City, Iowa
Sioux City (/ˌsuːˈsɪti/) is a city in Woodbury and Plymouth counties in the western part of the State of Iowa. The population was 82,684 in the 2010 census, which makes it the fourth largest city in Iowa. The bulk of the city is in Woodbury County, of which it is the county seat, though a small portion is in Plymouth County.
Sioux City is the primary city of the five-county Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), with a population of 168,825 in 2010 and a slight increase to an estimated 168,921 in 2012. The Sioux City–Vermillion, IA–NE–SD Combined Statistical Area had a population of 182,675 as of 2010 and has grown to an estimated population of 183,052 as of 2012.
Sioux City is at the navigational head of the Missouri River, about 95 miles north of the Omaha–Council Bluffs metropolitan area. Sioux City and the surrounding areas of northwestern Iowa, northeastern Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota are sometimes referred to as Siouxland, especially by the local media.

South Sioux City, Nebraska
South Sioux City is a city in Dakota County, Nebraska, United States. It is located immediately across the Missouri River from Sioux City, Iowa, and is part of the Sioux City, IA-NE-SD Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 13,353, making it the 14th largest city in Nebraska.
History
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark passed through the South Sioux City area in 1804.
European settlement on the Nebraska side of the river began as early as 1854. Several town sites were platted and incorporated in the 1850s. Pacific City, incorporated in 1858, was a short-lived settlement. Covington and South Covington, both incorporated in 1857, merged in 1870. Another town, Stanton, was founded in 1856.
South Sioux City was incorporated in 1887. A special election in 1893 approved the merger of Covington and Stanton into the city of South Sioux City.

South Sioux City is located at 42°28′16″N 96°24′53″W / 42.47111°N 96.41472°W / 42.47111; -96.41472 (42.471095, -96.414732).

Delta Airlines to Cut Service in Sioux City
(SIOUX CITY, IA) Sioux City may lose its only air carrier, as Delta Airlines has told the Department of Transportation that the company can't afford to keep serving Siouxland unless the federal government plans to help. Delta Airlines says a weak economy and lower seat demand is forcing the company to reduce flights in communities like Sioux City. Sioux Gateway Airport Ready for 21st Century
(SIOUX CITY, IA) After months of additions and facelifts, renovations to Sioux Gateway Airport are finally complete. Planning began all the way back in 2006 for the $6.2 mill. project to expand and remodel services at Siouxland's largest airport. The hub now has an additional loading bridge and three ticket counters that airport leaders hope will attract more airlines to do business here. "We have all the equipment necessary to serve their needs and I think at this point, any of them that come to visit this airport will be impressed with the new facility and how well it looks," says Curt Miller, Sioux City's Airport, Transit & Fleet Director. About 20% of the total project was paid for with Sioux City money, the remainder was funded with federal and state transportation grants.

(SIOUX CITY, IA) Sioux City may lose its only air carrier, as Delta Airlines has told the Department of Transportation that the company can't afford to keep serving Siouxland unless the federal government plans to help.
Delta Airlines says a weak economy and lower seat demand is forcing the company to reduce flights in communities like Sioux City.
All of the company's turboprop planes and some of its 50-seat jets are being pulled from service this fall. The company says planes leave Sioux Gateway with an average of only 51.4% of their seats full.
With the looming threat of losing air service altogether, officials actually don't see this as a bad thing
"Discussions have been ongoing. 1. Go All the Way to the Top of the Viewing Tower at Falls Park and Snap a Selfie.
The Viewing Tower at Falls Park is attached to the Visitor Information Center. Take the elevator to the top and get a 360 degree view of Sioux Falls. The Viewing Tower is open from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM every day this summer. Don't forget your phone in the car like I did, so you CAN take a selfie.
2. Moonlight Movies: Enjoy a Free Movie at Fawick Park
Every Saturday night this summer you can watch a free movie under the stars at Fawick Park. Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy the beautiful South Dakota summer. Here are the movies showing this summer. www.dtsf.com
3. Get Your Zen On at Japanese Gardens
There might be a swimming pool full of kids just a little ways away, but once you enter Japanese Gardens at Terrace Park, you won't even notice city life. Japanese Gardens has plenty of shade and areas to sit and enjoy a good book, watch the ducks swim on Covell Lake, or contemplate life.
4.Walk Around Downtown Sioux Falls and Enjoy the SculptureWalk
Downtown Sioux Falls is full of impressive works of art. Did you know the Sioux Falls SculptureWalk is the largest and most recognized annual exhibit of public art sculptures in the country? Enjoy the day in downtown and experience the SculptureWalk.
5. Outdoor University at the Outdoor Campus
Outdoor University is a free event you can do with the entire family. Everyone can try a variety of outdoor activities like kayaking, rock climbing, fishing, outdoor cooking, canoeing, and more. This year's event is Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
6. Enjoy Live Music All Over Downtown Sioux Falls
Downtown Sioux Falls is full of free live music throughout the summer.
Take in live music at the Riverfront Amphitheater between 6th and 9th Streets during Rhythm on the River.
Enjoy free live music at Falls Overlook Cafe with Sounds of the Falls.
During First Friday on July 7th, August 4th and September 1st, Downtown Sioux Falls hosts a block party on the Eastbank at 8th and Railroad Center.
7. Browse the Falls Park Farmers' Market
I'll be honest, I don't like fruit and I only like a few select vegetables, so you wouldn't think I'd enjoy the Farmers' Market. But, I do! I love the colors! From the gorgeous flowers and plants to the array of colorful produce, it's candy for the eyes. I've been to the Farmers' Market several times just to browse and people watch. It's a fun Saturday morning activity. The Falls Park Farmers' Market is open from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturdays May through October.
8. Remember Our Veterans at Memorial Park
If you've had a friend or relative serve in the armed forces, you must make it a point to visit Veterans' Memorial Park at 1021 W. Bailey Street, not far from Terrace Park. Take some time and remember those who've served and are still serving. Memorial Park is a great way to honor our veterans. It's just one of the many sights to see in Sioux Falls that you may not know even existed.
9. Jazzfest!
Thousands of people converge on Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls every July for Jazzfest. It's three days of live music. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, sit back and enjoy South Dakota summer. This year's entertainment includes the Devon Allman Band, Robert Cray Band, Sena Ehrhardt, Jonny Lang and many others. This year's event will be held July 13-15, 2017.
10. Germanfest
Bring along a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy live music from several German bands along with dancing. If you do want to try a good German beer, you may want to bring along a few bucks, otherwise, this event is free. Germanfest is Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 1:00 - 10:00 PM at Falls Park West on the corner of 6th and Phillips.
