Along the way two massacre sites and several Commonwealth War Graves cemeteries were visited to pay respect to the fallen and lay wreaths.
Nights were spent in a disused factory building, bunker, barn and sports hall using only a greatcoat and blanket each.
On Monday 31 May the group arrived in Dover for a parade & inspection by the Lady Mayor of Dover and a short (private) commemorative service at the original Railway Station where in May and June 1940 thousands of troops disembarked.

Zinfandel is commonly referred to as America's noble grape and for good reason. Loaded with spice and personality, these wines are hearty crowd-pleasers as well as tremendous values. It's believed that the first ever United States Zinfandel was cultivated by Russian settlers in Wareham, MA. The eastern climate didn't suit Zinfandel and the settlers moved to what's now the Russian River Valley.
This wine is from in California's sweet spot for Zinfandel: Lodi. Warm days and cool nights yield a rich, layered wine with herbaceous juicy berry fruits with a nice threa of wold brambly notes. Given it's crowd pleasing taste profile and an under-the-radar value at its current price point.
The addition of petite Sirah, and a whiff of Alicante Bouschet gives this wine a bit of added texture and complexity. Small Hours is produced by small winemaking family who originally hail from Italy, where they have a long history of grape growing. Indeed, Zinfandel shares some Italian heritage of its own as there are genetic similarities with the Italian varietal Primitvo.
Aged in a combination of older French and American oak barrels, the wine is elegantly proportioned. Bursting with candied red berry, raspberry, graphite and vanilla notes derived from time spent in American oak, it's balanced and ripe without being over-powering. The combination of fruit, earth and bramble make it a fine match with frilled meats and of course the all American favorite: barbecue.
wn.com/Small Hours Lodi Zinfandel Traveling Vineyard Wine

BOURNE A 17-year-old Wareham boy was killed early Friday morning, the apparent victim of a hit-and-run crash on Head of the Bay Road, according to the police.
The body of the teenage boy, who police identified as Andrew Dexter of Wareham, was found behind a guard rail on the westbound side of Head of the Bay Road at 8:10 a.m., Bourne police Sgt. Dennis Woodside.

Investigators believe he was headed to residence in Wareham.
At some time between 2:30 and 3:15 a.m., a Ford Explorer-type vehicle traveling the same way as Dexter along Head of the Bay Road struck the young man, according to the police.
Dexters body was crushed between the SUV and the guard rail, Woodside said. The teen was then pulled along between the SUV and guard rail for a few feet, before landing on the other side of the guard rail, Woodside added.
A pedestrian discovered Dexters body five or six hours after the crash. As far as the police know, no witnesses saw the crash, Woodside said.
Based on damaged vehicle parts that were left at the scene, the police believe the hit-and-run suspect was driving a 2002 to 2004 Ford Explorer of a tannish color, though it may be a two-tone vehicle, Woodside said.
The SUV would have front-end damage, likely on the passenger side of the vehicle, the police said.
If anyone knows of a vehicle with this type of damage, please call us, Woodside said.
The Bourne police can be contacted at 508-759-4451.

Former Minister of State for Transport Michael Portillo is back, taking to the tracks in Series 3 of the hugely popular BBC documentary TV series Great British Railway Journeys. Released by FremantleMedia Enterprises as a 5 disc set on 21st January, it features all 25 half-hour episodes from the third series.
Passionate about trains, Michael Portillo embarks on 5 epic rail journeys, each split into five 'legs' or installments travelling the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland as he retraces routes that were first documented in the early 1840s in the monthly railway guide, Bradshaw's Handbook. Along the way he witnesses all the things that have changed since the early days of rail transport and what of Bradshaw's Britain remains, discovering the effect the railways had on the public and finding out how the British love of trains all began.
Over the course of the five fascinating journeys -- Great Yarmouth to Embankment (Great Yarmouth to Beccles, Darsham to Felixstowe, Sudbury to Southend, Epping to Hackney, Fenchurch to Embankment); Windsor to Portland (Windsor to Didcot, Reading to Alton, Winchester to Isle Of Wight, Brockenurst to Poole, Wareham to Portland); Oxford to Milford Haven (Oxford to Pershore, Hartlebury to Great Malvern, Lydney to Newport, Cardiff to Brecon, Port Talbot to Milford Haven); Berwick-Upon-Tweed to Snaefell (Berwick-Upon-Tweed to Morpeth, Bardon Mill to Wigton, Cockermouth to Eskdale, Kirkby-in-Furness to Lancaster, Heysham to Snaefell); Bray to Londonderry (Bray to Dublin, Enfield to Drogheda, Dundalk to Portadown, Belfast to Whitehead, Ballymoney to Londonderry) - Michael discovers the grave robbing history of Great Yarmouth, uncovers the gruesome details of the first murder on a train and drinks a Victorian brew drawn from the pure waters of Cockermouth. He also takes a white knuckle walk over the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, finds out the secrets behind Kirkby's famous blue slate and rides one of the world's first electric railways.
An informative and entertaining series hosted by a uniquely enthusiastic guide with an obvious and infectious passion for the subject matter, Great British Railway Journeys makes for essential viewing for fans of series such as 'Coast', 'A Picture Of Britain', 'Great British Journeys' and 'Michael Palin's Great Railway Journeys'.
Great British Railway Journeys Series 3 (cert. E) will be released on DVD (£39.99) by FremantleMedia Enterprises on 28th January 2013. Great British Railway Journeys Series 1 and Series 2 (cert, E) are available to buy now.

Thompson has a special place in the history of the Old Connecticut Path thanks to historian Ellen Larned who compiled the History of Windham County published in 1874, founded the Thompson library and was the first women admitted to membership of the Connecticut Historical Society. Larned's historical research was accompanied by a real treasure map, her "Map of Ancient Windham County". Larned's record of the stories handed down by the pioneer settlers and the route of the Old Connecticut Path provides a key to rediscovering the places along the Path. The 73 minute video is much more than a story about places. The presentation tells the larger story of families and what they did for our nation. The video expands upon the content of previous presentations to include the findings of the Connecticut Historical Commission study of the Old Connecticut Path. The Path travels through places of great natural beauty and historic significance in their own right. A guide to places to visit and walk along the Path is shared open the way for others to directly experience the splendor of the land that endures almost four centuries after the first pioneers traveled down the Path to Connecticut.
Thanks to the Thompson Historical Society for sponsoring the Old Connecticut Path presentation, and the Thompson Public Library founded by Ellen Larned.
As early as 1633-36, the migration from Massachusetts Bay at Boston/Cambridge west to Connecticut began following the Old Connecticut Path. John Oldham followed the Path to the Connecticut valley in 1633 followed by the Watertown, MA congregation in 1635 to settle Wethersfield, CT. Reverend John Wareham and the Dorchester congregation followed the Path in 1635 to settle Windsor, CT. Reverend Thomas Hooker and his entire congregation walked along the Old Connecticut Path for two weeks across the wilderness in 1636 from Cambridge, MA to establish Hartford, CT. Join me for a walk and use your imagination to experience the landscape traveled by the pioneers of the 1600s.

The years 1635-1636 saw two groups of pioneers set out on a journey west from the Massachusetts Bay through the unsettled wilderness to build new lives in the Connecticut Valley. The Dorchester Company led by Roger Ludlow and John Warham, and the Newtown congregation led by Reverend Thomas Hooker followed Indian trails along what came to be known as the Old Connecticut Path. Today the Path is hidden in plain sight, ready to be rediscovered for its historic importance and natural beauty. Jason Newton’s fascinating presentation will connect the story of the Path and the people who followed it to Connecticut with our history. Rediscover the Path for yourselves and find the wild places open for hiking and exploration across Massachusetts and Connecticut.
