In the administrative divisions of France, the department (French: département, pronounced: [depaʁtəmɑ̃]) is one of the three levels of government below the national level ("territorial collectivities"), between the region and the commune. There are 96 departments in metropolitan France and 5 overseas departments, which also are classified as regions. Departments are further subdivided into 342 arrondissements, themselves divided into cantons; the latter two have no autonomy and are used for the organisation of public services and sometimes elections.
France's departments are administered by elected general councils (conseil général) and their presidents, whose main areas of responsibility include the management of a number of social and welfare allowances, of junior high school (collège) buildings and technical staff, of local roads and school and rural buses, and a contribution to municipal infrastructures. Local services of the State administration are traditionally organised at departmental level, where the prefect represents the government; however, regions have gained importance in this regard since the 2000s, with some department-level services merged into region-level services.

Auvergne is one of the 27 administrative regions of France. It comprises the four departments of Allier, Puy de Dome, Cantal and Haute Loire. The current administrative region of Auvergne is larger than the historical province of Auvergne, and includes provinces and areas that historically were not part of Auvergne. The Auvergne region is composed of the following old provinces:
Auvergne: departments of Puy-de-Dôme, Cantal, north-west of Haute-Loire, and extreme south of Allier. The province of Auvergne is entirely contained inside the Auvergne region. The region contains many volcanoes, although the last confirmed eruption was around 6,000 years ago. They began forming some 70,000 years ago, and most have eroded away leaving plugs of unerupted hardened magma that form rounded hilltops known as puys.

Air France (formally Société Air France, S.A.), stylised as AIRFRANCE, is the French flag carrier headquartered in Tremblay-en-France, (north of Paris). It is a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM Group and a founding member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance. As of 2013 Air France serves 36 destinations in France and operates worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to 168 destinations in 93 countries (including Overseas departments and territories of France) and also carried 59,513,000 passengers in 2011. The airline's global hub is at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, with Paris Orly Airport, Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, Marseille Provence Airport, Toulouse Blagnac Airport, and Nice Côte d'Azur Airport serving as secondary hubs. Air France's corporate headquarters, previously in Montparnasse, Paris, are located on the grounds of Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, north of Paris.
Air France was formed on 7 October 1933 from a merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Compagnie Générale Aéropostale, Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne (CIDNA), and Société Générale de Transport Aérien (SGTA).
During the Cold War, from 1950 until 1990, Air France was one of the three main Allied scheduled airlines operating in Germany at West Berlin's Tempelhof and Tegel airports.
In 1990, Air France acquired the operations of French domestic carrier Air Inter and international rival UTA – Union de Transports Aériens.
Air France served as France's primary national flag carrier for seven decades prior to its 2003 merger with KLM.
Between April 2001 and March 2002, the airline carried 43.3 million passengers and had a total revenue of €12.53bn. In November 2004, Air France ranked as the largest European airline with 25.5% total market share, and was the largest airline in the world in terms of operating revenue.
Air France operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing widebody jets on long-haul routes, and uses Airbus A320 family aircraft on short-haul routes. Air France introduced the A380 on 20 November 2009 with service to New York's JFK Airport from Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. The carrier's regional airline subsidiary, HOP!, operates the majority of its regional domestic and European scheduled services with a fleet of regional jet aircraft.
The Airbus A321 is a stretched first derivative of the standard A320. The variant was launched in 1988,] when the A320 began operations. Compared with the A320, the A321's major change is the stretched fuselage, which is lengthened by 6.94 metres (22 ft 9 in); the A321 is the largest of the A320 family. This is achieved by adding a 4.27 m (14 ft 0 in) front plug immediately forward of wing, and a 2.67 m (8 ft 9 in) rear plug. To maintain performance, double-slotted flaps were included, in addition to increasing the wing area by 4 m2 (43 sq ft), to 128 m2 (1,380 sq ft). Other minor modifications were made to accommodate the A321-100's 9,600 kg (21,200 lb) increase in maximum takeoff weight to 83,000 kg (183,000 lb). The maiden flight of the first of two prototypes came on 11 March 1993. The A321-100 entered service in 1994.
The basic A321-100 features a reduction in range compared to the A320 as extra fuel tankage was not added to the initial design to compensate for the extra weight. To overcome this Airbus launched the heavier and longer range A321-200 development in 1995 which has a full-passenger transcontinental US range. This is achieved through higher thrust engines (V2533-A5 or CFM56-5B3), minor structural strengthening, and an increase in fuel capacity with the installation of one or two optional 2,990 L (790 US gal) tanks in the rear underfloor hold. The additional fuel tankage increases the total fuel capacity of this model to 30,030 L (7,930 US gal). These modifications also increased the maximum takeoff weight of the A321-200 to 93,000 kg (205,000 lb). This variant first flew in December 1996. Its direct competitors include the Boeing 757-200 and the 737-900/900ER.
Airbus announced the development of a longer range version named A321neoLR that will be available in 2019. It is positioned to replace the Boeing 757-200 in transatlantic and similar markets where the range and payload of the 737-900 is insufficient to replace the 757-200. The new A321LR will have 206 seats; Business Class will offer 16 seats with 36" pitch and Economy will offer 190 seats at a 30-inch pitch. Airbus claims the maximum range at full payload of 4,000 nautical miles will exceed the range of Boeing's winglet-equipped 757-200W, but will burn less fuel per passenger. The A321LR will be equipped with three auxiliary fuel tanks including one at centerline. Boeing has not decided how it will replace the 757, but is not working on a "757 MAX", or a longer range 737-9 MAX.

France is a beautiful country that has given so much to the world and still has a lot to offer. It shouldn't come as a coincidence to you that France is my country of birth and I am myself a Frenchman who just happens to love and value the land of Liberty, Equality, Fraternit y(Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité in French). France has a population of 67 million people, comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France is also known as the Metropolitan France, whose population is about 64 million people.
Paris is the administrative, political and financial capital of France and it is also the largest city in the country. There are also other cities like: Lyon, Marseilles, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpelier, Strasbourg, Cannes, Calais, Lille, Rennes etc. The Constitution of France establishes the state as secular and democratic, with its sovereignty derived from the people. The French citizens enjoy a high standard of living, and the country performs well in international rankings of education, health care, life expectancy, civil liberties, and human development. France is both a founding member of the UN, NATO and the EU and plays a big role in international foreign policy. France is a country full of conspicuous places. These places not only content the passion of a traveler, but also create an aspiration to live in France. Different events throughout the ancient period, middle ages, and towards the modern era have shaped France into a dynamic and ever evolving congregation of people.
France is divided into 27 administrative regions (French: régions administratives), 22 of which are in Metropolitan France and five of which are overseas regions. Corsica is a territorial collectivity (French collectivité territoriale), but is considered a region in mainstream usage, and is even shown as such on the INSEE website. The mainland regions and Corsica are each further subdivided into departments, ranging in number from 2 to 8 per region for the metropolitan regions; the overseas regions technically consist of only one department each.
France has the world's sixth-largest economy by nominal figures and the ninth largest economy by PPP figures. It has the third-largest economy in Europe with Germany and the UK in 1st and 2nd.The OECD is headquartered in Paris, the nation's financial capital. The chemical industry is a key sector for France, helping to develop other manufacturing activities and contributing to economic growth. France's tourism industry is a major component of the economy, as France is the most visited destination in the world. We has recorded 84.7 million visitors to our country last year, a figure so staggeringly high that nowhere else even comes close. No other nation surpassed the 70 million mark, with the US in second place (69.8 million), and plucky Britain in eighth place, with 31.2 million people heading to our shores – not that much more than a third of the total going to France. Originally founded by the Gauls, the Roman emperor Augustus seized the town in 14 BC and renamed it Vapincum. Eight years later, a Roman road was started, which linked the city to what is now Valencia, Spain. Vapincum grew as a transportation hub and was fortified by later Roman Emperors to protect it against Barbarians. From 28 December 986, the Bishop of Gap had sovereignty over the city due to concerns about future Muslim invasions, and held that power until Revolutionary reforms in 1801 despite Gap being annexed by the French crown in 1512.

STORYLINE:
A New York City fire truck drove down the Champs-Elysees in the centre of Paris on Friday evening.
On board were a group of New York City firemen and families of firemen who died in the World Trade Centre attack last September 11th.
The family members were driven in the fire truck to the famous Parisian restaurant, Fouquet's.
It was just one of the festivities hosted by the Paris Fire Department which had invited the group from the United States.
The party came ahead of Saturday's signing ceremony marking a cooperation agreement between the New York City fire department and the Paris Fire Brigade.
The pact signed on Saturday provides for annual meetings between the two departments and a sharing of fire fighting and anti-terrorism tactics.
At the ceremony at the Paris Fire Brigade headquarters, French officials praised the NYFD for courage and dedication and expressed sympathy for the families of the fallen.
On Sunday, the families are planning to attend a massive parade marking Bastille Day, France's national holiday.
The parade will include a New York fire truck and will be led this year by a squad of cadets from the West Point military academy in New York.
The trip for the family members, who arrived Monday, has been painfully bittersweet as they honour their loved ones lost on September 11th.

Created by Air France in the 1950s, "Flight to Immortal Rome" was directed by the talented Andre de la Varre. The film features a flight to Rome on a Lockheed Constellation (seen at the 5:40 minute mark) and a tour of the ancient and modern city. Some of the sights include the Castle of St. Angelo, Roman Coliseum, Arch of Constantine, the Forum, St. Peter's, the Vatican, Capitoline Hill, the Pantheon, and much more.
André de la Varre (1904-1987) was a leading travelogue filmmaker who started as a 17-year old visiting Europe with a recently acquired movie camera at the end of World War I. By 1924, he was working with filmmaker Burton Holmes and eventually struck out on his own as an independent producer with a short film series called “Screen Traveler” in the thirties. Columbia Pictures commissioned him to provide material for a number of their own documentary shorts starting in 1939, recycling some footage he shot earlier in France as well as new material scouted mostly in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean on account of the war in Europe. He returned to Burton Holmes Inc. shortly before the founder’s passing in 1958 and was soon busy with lengthy features like 1965’s Grand Tour of London and Paris (by Day and by Night). Collaborating on many of these was his son André De La Varre Jr.
Despite financial problems with the Burton Holmes company and a shrinking market for travelogues, he still managed another well-received 90 minute feature These States for the Bicentennial Council in 1975. His later years were spent in Austria.
