From its breathtaking medieval centre to its 21st-century temple to Surrealism, the new Magritte Museum, Brussels offers the visitor a great deal more than just beer and chocolate and is resoundingly unlike its unfortunate staid image as the home of EU beaurocrats.
Indeed, Brussels is a creative, dynamic city. Its compact city centre is clustered with bars, restaurants and museums set along cobbled streets. Inevitably, most tourists head to the Grand-Place. With its ornate Flemish guild houses, impressive Town Hall and buzzing atmosphere, it would be difficult to find a more beautiful square in the whole of Europe. It deservedly is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is the city's crowning jewel. Wander next to the nearby Royal and Sablon districts teeming with art galleries and antique shops. Throw away your map and meander down a myriad side streets,
discovering flea markets, art-deco houses and boutique stores.
Léopold II's Parisian-style boulevards (Belliard and La Loi) are lined with embassies, banks and grand apartment buildings, while Sainte Cathérine, the Art Nouveau district of St-Gilles and Ixelles draw an arty crowd with their eclectic shops and restaurants.
The Bruxellois take pride in their self-effacing, intellectual sense of humour, underpinned by a strong appreciation of the bizarre. The city has a long-running love affair with the Surrealist art movement, pioneered by René Magritte, and with classic comic strips, epitomised by Hergé's boy hero, Tintin. There's a telling irony in the fact that the city's best-known landmark is the Manneken-Pis, a tiny statuette of a urinating boy.
Meanwhile, all of this sits alongside world-class collections of art, fabulous cooking including mussels, frites, waffles and whelks, some of Europe's best and unique beers (literally, there are thousands of varieties), and master-chocolatiers. When it comes to this confectionary, it pays to ignore the well-known brands such as Godiva or Neuhaus, and seek out the stylish boutique of the trendiest 'chocolatier', Pierre Marcolini who cnce a year, creates a limited-edition design.
The city's cultural calendar is packed with events for everyone from the massive, raucous Foire du Midi street fair every July teeming with stalls and fairground attractions to the legendary Christmas Market that takes centre stage in the Place Sainte Catherine with 240 stalls, a skating rink, a big wheel, and numerous rides. One of the biggest events is Art Brussels, showcasing the city's edgier, creative side and a hub for art connoisseurs from around the globe.
If you're a Euro-loving national, check out the European Quarter, centered around Schuman and the Berlaymont. Its liveliest part is the Place du Luxembourg: all its bars fill up around 6pm on week days with some of the 20,000 diplomats, politicians and civil servants who reside in the city after Brussels became the centre of international political following WWII.
Easily accessible by train from other major European cities, Brussels is also the gateway for day trips to Amsterdam, Ghent, Luxembourg, Antwerp and Bruges, among others, making it a fabulous two-centre destination.

Entry Title: "Brussels, Home of NATO and the UN"
Entry:
"The bus ride, as eluded to before was reallllly long. I mean, Ive been on a bus for 40 hours to Wawa treeplanting, but its really bad when you become restless because your bus is running really late. The 1.5 hours past when we were suppose to arrive where incredibly long, especially with the drunk Newfies next to us. Canadians are everywhere. The drunk one was getting deeper and deeper in **** with his girlfirned. His accent was impossible to understand, and when we stopped in a small Belgian town for half an hour, the bar keep who spoke english couldnt even understand him. He was getting to be really comical. He bought the bar a round, so,ething Im sure he wouldnt have done sober. Im sure it was rig money anyways. Dylan got his girlfriends facebook; she seemed like one of those facebook addicts. Cant blame her, Im one too.
We finally got to the bus depot, which was in an interesting area of town; The Red Light district. I watched bags while Dylan ran down the Red Lights looking for interent. We had to find our hotel, the Crowne Plaza Brussels. It wasnt like we had planned on treating ourselves to such luxury, we had only payed 104 euros for é nights, because their were no hostels that we could book. It was only 25 euros per person per night so it was equally as cheap as a hostel. It was a four star. We took a taxi because we didnt want to hastle with the public transit or walking. We where getting very tired and could use a hot shower and a nice bed for a change.
The check in was a breeze, and when we got to the room, we decided to treat ourselves to 12 euro plates of lasagna. It was delicious. Dylan told me all about lasagne bolognese and how it was different than regular lasgane, using cream sauce instead. We layed down with a bottle of wine and watched Indiana Jones 4, or at least the first half hour, before I managed to fall asleep. The first night did wonders on increasing energy and moods between me and Dylan. He was ready to rip so,eones head off in the train station, most of them simply saying NO when he asked for directions.
In the morning, we did the usual routine; walk around, absorbing everything, and taking lots of pictures. We had some waffles, which trust me are the best in the world, and took pictures of beautiful churches. And trust me, with all the churches Ive seen, I call myself a religious architecture expert. And these were beautiful. Someone once said Brussels was boring; but trust me, its not. Between all the razer sharp telecom and EU buildings, there was old history that had been renovated perfectly. Everything was clean and beautiful, most likely because the city was a sign of international communities, being the location of the EU and NATO. We attempted to walk to NATO but it was too far. The Berlaymont, EUs flagship building was powerfully huge, obiously meant to be a sign of their power. It was only 2 blocks from the hotel, and we never realized it until we where walking back.
That night, me and Dylan got back our laundry from what we thought was a complementary service. Only it cost us 236 euros. You live and learn. We just decided that we would have to be extremely cheap to make up for it. I mentioned that I wasnt going to be cheap at the expense of my trip, but well just have to see. That night we finished the wine and ate some gouda cheese, watching a really bad low budget film, Masterminds. Went to bed early again, preparing for Paris.
In the morning, we just walked to the North Station, the one we had arrived at. It was a long walk, but a nice way to see more of the city. We researched what to do in Paris, a city you dont want to get lost on, at the local cheap internet cafe. And we were off again.
The bus to France was shorter than expected, which was very ..."

Travel and sleep within the 5 biggest hotels in the world
Does size really matter?
For food, it genuinely does. The bulky it seems, the fuller you could become. Well, not always, right? There are actually these small yet heavy-for-the-stomach foods. For things, size is not really a big deal. Nowadays, the bite your gadgets are, the hippest they might be. For people, the bite you're, the greater amount of adorable you possibly can be. For hotels? IT DOES.
Do you know if what are the best and largest hotels around the globe? We know that you do. The largest hotel is at the womb of Asia. It is found in Thailand, the Ambassador City Jomtien. It's a paradise avoid home. Be to assume a 40-acre beach singing you waves of lullaby. The mountains also embrace you having its green. All your anxieties undoubtedly vanish into thin air. You just need a ten-minute boat ride from Pattaya. Should you crave for the city-solution to relaxation and leisure, you needn't concern yourself with it. Not only that but this is a complex that features tennis and sports center, business service for those who need one and convention center for those who gather for assemblies, reunions, forums, therefore forth. To not forget, this hotel has the largest seashore in Asia. The most important trivia is it possesses a total of 5,100 guest rooms and suites.
Should you are about Las Vegas for some people casino or anything, it is going to your vacation complete if you are attempting sleeping at MGM Grand Hotel Casino. It continues to maintain the title of the 2nd biggest hotel in the world and the most important within the North American region. You'll say just praises when you will note right in your very eyes its four 30-storey towers. What more if you manage your sight having its massive video screens? A huge gold lion is outside while live lions dwell contained in the place. Feed your appetite with nine restaurants and two food courts. Go and make one of the 5,005 guest rooms.
Are you continue to in Las Vegas? If the MGM is just not the hotel quicker for you, try the 2nd biggest in Las Vegas and to discover the third biggest in the whole world, Luxor Hotel Casino. The adjoining tower house and to discover the pyramid-like structure have 4,408 guest rooms and suites in it.
Las Vegas also owns within this midst the fourth largest hotel in the world Mandalay Bay (including THEhotel). Since then 1999, it posseses become popular resulting from being one of many hippest night spots. Numerous concerts are held here. As soon as the sun is out, one can savor the enigma of the rich heritage for it has a novel coin museum. A walk-through aquarium can also be another delightful spot. Your stomach and also your spirit alike will appreciate the stylish restaurants. It really has altogether, 4,341 rooms.
Do you love Italy? Well, if Europe is far too far, Las Vegas will be happy to let you in. Yes, the following biggest hotel continues to be at its area. Brussels (French: Bruxelles, is the capital of Belgium, the French Community of Belgium, the Flemish Community, the Flemish Region and the main seat of the European Union's institutions. Brussels is, first of all, a city located in the centre of Belgium and is its capital, but it sometimes also refers to the largest municipality of the Brussels-Capital Region. This municipality inside Brussels is correctly named The City of Brussels (French: Bruxelles-Ville or Ville de Bruxelles, Dutch: Stad Brussel), which is one of 19 municipalities that make up the Brussels-Capital Region. The municipality has a population of about 140,000 while the Brussels-Capital Region has 1,018,804 inhabitants. (01-01-2006). The Metropolitan area has about 2,090,000 inhabitants 50°50′37″N, 4°21′27″E. [1] The Brussels-Capital Region is a region of Belgium in its own right (Région à part entière), alongside Wallonia and the Flemish Region. Geographically and linguistically, it is a (bilingual) enclave in the (unilingual) Flemish Region. Regions are one component of Belgium's complex institutions, the three communities being "the" other component: the Brussels inhabitants must deal with either the French (speaking) community or the Flemish Community for matters such as culture and education. Two of the main institutions of the European Union - the European Commission and the Council of the European Union - have their headquarters in Brussels: the Commission in the Berlaymont building and the Council in the Justus Lipsius building facing it. The third institution, the European Parliament, also has a parliamentary chamber in Brussels in which its committee meet and some of its plenary sessions are held (the other plenary sessions are held in Strasbourg, and its administrative headquarters are in Luxembourg). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brussels 1974«

Once again, dozens of award-winning Portuguese and international chefs listed in the Michelin Guide, World's 50 Best Restaurants, Gault et Millau and OAD (Opinionated About Dining) and around 20 wine and gourmet producers from around the world, will come together for a unique gastronomic event in Portugal, from 6 to 10 May 2015.
Following the event's resounding success in 2013, when VILA VITA Parc launched a totally innovative concept, promoting the direct interaction between chefs, winemakers and other producers with the public, the Fine Wines & Food Fair welcomes back to Portugal a prestigious cast of actors of the gastronomic and wine world together with some other surprises.
Host to the event is, of course, Ocean restaurant's resident two Michelin star chef, Hans Neuner.
