Take a tour of Strangling Trees of Angkor Wat in Cambodia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
Within the ruins of Angkor Wat is an organism that has taken over entire buildings.
Though it sounds like a science fiction movie, it is infact true.
This ancient part of Cambodian temple is completely overgrown by giant banyan or strangler fig trees.

Your trip to Moscow, Russia is bound to be a special one. From the multicolored spires of St. Basil’s Cathedral to the sturdy red walls of the Kremlin, there is much to see and do in this stunning city.
Named after the Moskva River—which flows through the city—Moscow has long been at the forefront of the creative world. Tour Moscow to follow in the footsteps of Tolstoy and Chekhov, among others, and join in the sense of pride Russia feels for its literary tradition. Moscow has named a number of its parks and open spaces after its poets and authors, so take a break at the fountain in Pushkin Square, or rest beneath the leafy trees in Gorky Park. When you’ve gotten your fill of literary splendor, head to the Memorial Museum of Cosmonauts, where you can learn about the Soviet Union’s efforts to reach the stars and the epic space race that lasted from 1955 to 1972.
Moscow is a city of creativity and innovation, but is also very much aware of its own history; as such, a haunting part of any Moscow sightseeing is a visit to the Fallen Monument Park. After the fall of the Soviet Union, countless statues and monuments were removed from their pedestals and moved to this park. Over the years, more modern artwork and sculptures have been added, turning the park into a strange, yet peaceful graveyard of former icons.

Travel video about nature park Mississippi Swamps in the USA.
New Orleans is synonymous with good food, jazz and Mardi Gras and it was here that history was created: founded by France, conquered by Spain, bought by President Jefferson and occupied by theYankees! New Orleans also possesses the second largest harbour in the USA and even today they shout, „Full speed ahead!“ as paddle steamers negotiate ‘Ol Man River’, the grand waters of the Mississippi that flow to the Mississippi Swamps. The Swamps are extensive and only experienced boatmen can find their way around the mass of main and side tributaries as it’s easy to become disorientated, sight of the sky often being lost due to the density of the trees. In the past 5,000 years the Mississippi had seven different deltas prior to it being reinforced by embankments. When dykes strengthened the river, some side channels remained and these are the famous small rivers known as the Bayous, a labyrinth of small tributaries and waterways ‚Cowens’ is the name of the oldest life form in the swamp, a turtle that grows to about 10 to 25 centimetres long and feeds mainly on small fish and aquatic animals. Almost 30,000 hectares of swampland have been declared a nature reserve in which the complex balance between salt and freshwater reigns supreme and, when viewed from above, has the appearance of a strange network of city streets. The Delta area provides ideal conditions for many feathered species, including around four million ducks and also the national symbol of the USA, the white-headed sea eagle and the variety of animals living in this region, most notably the alligator, is also vast and includes beaver and racoon. The wonderful world of the Swamps with their legends and myths draw the traveller under their spell, a bewitching labyrinth of infinite waterways each one holding a special fascination. The allure of Nature is surely as puzzling as the innermost secrets of the Mississippi Swamps!

Take a tour of Desert Landscape of Sossusvlei in Namibia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
One of the most compelling features of Namibia is the astounding landscape of Sossusvlei, a part of the Namib desert.
This clay-pan, even though situated in a desert, is occasionally flooded by the Tsauchab River, but mostly remains dry year round.
Hiking and trekking on the huge red sand dunes is an incredible experience as you get to gorge on the colorful and ethereal panorama around.
For a comfortable stay amidst an adventure, there are numerous guest houses and lodges for those who seek to travel to this awe-inspiring land.
One can sight numerous dead trees in the landscape, especially in the region called Dead Vlei.
These were known to be the camel-thorn trees, green and very much alive, until they stopped receiving water from Tsauchab River.
What makes Sossusvlei really interesting is that the shape of the dunes keeps on changing because of the strong wind currents that blow in the desert.

Venture to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, to explore the city that’s shaped like a bird in flight.
Boasting innovative architecture, imaginative artwork, and symmetrical designs, Brasilia is the ultimate eye candy. Begin your travels at the Praca dos Tres Poderes, the plaza that the city revolves around. Here you can marvel at Planalto Palace’s magnificent design—the work of famed architect Oscar Niemeyer. Abstract structures and odd-shaped buildings lay scattered around the parallel-running avenues at the Monumental Axis.
Discover the intricate construction of the Ministry of Justice and Itamaraty Palace, which is the headquarters for the Ministry of External Relations. The National Congress features a structure that looks like a bowl, while the National Museum sits inside a dome-shaped building with a unique walkway that looks like it’s orbiting the construction. For a truly marvelous sight, saunter into the nearby Metropolitan Cathedral. Perhaps Niemeyer’s most noteworthy masterpiece, it earned him the highest architectural award. The cathedral boasts 16 massive pillars that arch to the sky—forming a crown-like shape—alongside a peculiar bell tower. Inside the place of worship, you’ll find three angels hanging from the ceiling, surrounded by stained-glass windows.
After adoring the architecture, take a stroll through the Sanctuary of Dom Bosco, which is dedicated to Bosco, an Italian saint. It is said that he predicted the rise of a “futuristic city,” and the Brazilians believe he was referring to Brasilia.
On your next romp in the capital, admire the architecture and explore the fascinating installation artwork. From museums to palaces, this city won’t disappoint. For more tips and advice, check out our Brasilia travel guide.

Dear traveler, welcome to our new travel channel.
We are currently working on new videos about all
major cities of the world.
Alcudia (Puerto Alcudia) is one the most popular resorts in Majorca located on the north east corner of Majorca in Spain. Alcudia is located about 59 km. from the capital city Palma de Mallorca.
Puerto Alcudia (Port d’Alcudia) is the port, beach, tourist and accommodation area of Alcudia town and it is located about 1,8 km. from the old town of Alcudia.
Alcudia, with its port area, has a population of ten thousand, which in summer swells to ten times that figure. A superb stretch of beach and good hotel facilities account for this growing summer influx.
Alcudia´s historic city centre
The centre of Alcudia still preserves the character of a historic town, having said that the name Alcudia derives from the former Muslim Al Kudi, and although the first settlements date back to the Pretalaiotic period (2.000 - 1200 BC) the city was founded in 1325 by King Jaume II on the site of the mentioned islamic farmstead. A highlight of its history was the prosperous ancient Roman city of Pol-lentia (123 BC), situated only a few metres from the old town, which is indeed worth a visit. Today´s city preserves the medieval street layout, define by its wll enclosure. The streets house numerous buildings of high architectual value are narrow ans irregular-a testimony of the city´s history.
The small alleys all over the old town is the best attraction of Alcudia. Most of them are peaceful and will give you great photo opportunities although some of them are very narrow and there will be always someone coming the other way :)
The most interesting among them was Carrer d’en Serra also part of the old Arab quarter
the gates
The old town of Alcudia used to have 3 different gates and hopefully you can still see 2 of them.
Coming from Palma we parked the car outside and walked inside the walled city through the main gate (puerta Principal). The massive towers gives you a picture of how this old town was anyway centuries before when during the 14th century when King Jaume II founded the new town of Alcucia.
Xara Gate(or Portal de Moll) is on the south side, probably a bit more photogenic as it is cut off from the walls with two palm trees in front of the gate. We saw this gate (the old harbour gate) in many postcards as it is some kind of symbol for Alcudia.
There is a market in front of Xara gate (at plaza Carlos V) on Tuesday and Sunday mornings (9.00am to 15.00) although during summer months it may also go inside the city walls too. The main part of the market is focusing on products by local farmers but also plenty of shoes, clothing, handbags and souvenirs.
You can walk around the city walls and actually see parts of the wall along the way as the can be followed on the inside along ronda muralla or outside.
San Jaume church
Market in Alcudia old town
Every Tuesday and Sunday morning there is a market. It is situated beside the city walls, but during the tourist season, it is also inside the walls, in some of the narrow streets. It starts about 9.00 am and carries on usually until 2.00 pm or even later.
You will find 2 sections, the main one dedicated to the local farmers where they sell their products.
The second section has plenty of stalls where they sell absolutely everything: shoes, bags, handbags, football shirts, souvernirs…
The things to buy on the market include locally produced fruit and vegetables, shoes, handbags, jewellery, clothing and souvenirs.

Shepherd Entertainment takes you on a tour of Stari Grad, which was founded by the Greeks and served as the capital of Hvar
Island for centuries.
Discover Stari Grad on the island of Hvar in Croatia
The Medieval fortress that serves as a watch tower stands in Stari Grad the former town of Greek colonies. Seldom found in Dalmacia apple trees alternate with olive trees here in the Yalsa covering the hills above the settlement.
The colored ceramic pot on which the oldest depiction of a boat in Europe can be seen was found in Gratcha cave near the Yelsa. The port of the city is will protected from the wind with exception of the Bora but the depth of its waters is only 1.5 to 3m so its unable to receive larger boats. The director of the islands telegraph office started to send weather dated to Vienna three times a day in 1856; there's been no fog or temperature below zero Celsius in the past 150 years.
The highest point of flour is 604m, the plateau is covered with lavender, grape and olive tree plantations while pine, box with juniper and cypresses are volunteered plants. The island provides one quarter of Dalmacias olive oil and even 500 liters of wine yearly. Fur can be approach from split by fairy or Catamaran. The island is born several names during its history, Farls, Parls, Fatia but each refers to the light house. Currently 14 towers help the orientation of sailors.
Grad is the popular target of sailors, its ports welcome travelers with comfortable accommodations a wide range of services and intimate restaurants. As a complacent hospital it's primarily visited by those suffering from respiratory diseases and asthma. Croatia has several climatic clinics and hospital on the main land as well as on the islands which reveal another aspect of tourism. The region of special beauty of Fur is the plateau with its cooler climate running from Swari de Nila to Yelsa the major part of which is covered with is cover pine woods. The olive trees growing on the hills make up a quarter of all the olive trees in Dalmacia.
Stari grad was founded by the Greeks and served as the capital of the island for centuries. It was founded in the six km wide bay under the name Faros in 384 BC. Artifacts has scarcely remain from those times but monuments of the roman reign have been found under the churches, the ruins of a bath richly decorated with mosaic tiles were revealed under the safe crotch church as well as the well deputies fund from the 5th centuries under the Saint John church.
The third side of Stari Grad is the Dominican monastery build in 1487 that was burn down by the Turks but rebuilt by the local population. At the turn in 19th and 20th century the famous Croatian painter Eurio Plantis later died in Paris but live in this city. His memorial exhibition can be seen on this course square in the Blakeney palace. The other houses of the square, the gala neo, the Buches, the Bervaldey, the Mackeyedo and the Pileyteyo are also protected monuments.
The shore of the Adriatic including the coast of the islands is 40m deep on the average but as much 215m in some places. Its characteristic is its high salt content that relates to the temperature of the water. The salt content of cooler Northern waters is 33 while of that of the warmer Southern waters is 38% due to its high solidity, plankton is practically not existent so there's nothing that would make its water greenish that's why it's beautifully blue and very transparent. We can even see down to a depth of 50m form an airplane. Local say the sea sights twice a day referring to the tides. The day the tide phenomenon is caused by the gravitation of the moon. When the pool of the sand and moon are aligned where the bore tide occurs, if there at 90 degrees nip tide can be experience. The characteristic of the Adriatic is that the fluctuation between low and high tide is very small, just 37 cm and the Southern region, 40 in the middle of Adriatic and 70 in the North. The Adriatic doesn't have larger constant occurrence either.
The continental animal life of the creation seashore is not too varied by the sea life is all the more or so. Schools of sardines mostly know from cans and mackerels swim around but also countless squid, crabs lobsters, oysters and muscles can be observed in the crystal clear water.

Travel to the land that time forgot and set out on the journey of a lifetime in Patagonia, where Mother Nature runs the show.
Patagonia, the fabled ‘edge of the world’, spans the southernmost regions of Chile and Argentina and can be rugged and desolate as well as breathtakingly beautiful and inviting.
This last frontier of South America is a colorful mosaic of snow-capped mountains, icebergs, volcanoes, glaciers, forests, lakes and vast steppe plains.
On the Argentinean side, the scenic Road of the 7 Lakes takes you from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura and finally San Carlos de Bariloche, a popular ski resort on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi.
El Chaltén, in the southern Andes, is Argentina’s trekking capital. Trails lead to Laguna Capri, Fitz Roy Mountain and the fearsome Cerro Torre.
El Calafate is nestled the southern shores of Lago Argentino and is the gateway lake to Los Glaciares National Park. Here, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring glaciers awaits: the Perito Moreno Glacier.
In the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, take the 'End of the World Train’ to Tierra del Fuego National Park or get there by boat over the Beagle Channel. Photo opportunities along the way include Bird Island, Seal Island and the historic Les Éclaireurs lighthouse.
On the Chilean side of Patagonia, the regional capital Punta Arenas attracts visitors with its colonial architecture, cultural attractions and hospitality.
Tour the region’s Milodón Cave, where the remains of a giant ground-dwelling sloth and other huge extinct species were found.
Torres del Paine National Park is great for horse riding or hiking, with its steppes, snowcapped peaks, brimming lakes and Salto Grande waterfalls.
On the northern border of Chilean Patagonia, in the Los Lagos region, looms the mighty Osorno Volcano. The town of Puerto Varas, on the opposite shores of Lake Llanquihue, marks the end your Patagonia expedition.

Boston - Massachusetts Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation
As one of America's oldest cities, and the capital of Massachusetts, Boston's modern, vibrant streets echo its revolutionary past. Beyond being a historic milestone, Boston is also a thriving metropolis, rich with culture and hidden beauty.
Unfortunately, the city was thrust onto the world stage in 2013 for all the wrong reasons when three people were killed and more than 100 maimed during a terrorist attack during the Boston Marathon. Despite this, the city has rallied together and has proved it will stand staunch in the face of violence.
Founded in 1630, a stroll through the city is like reading pages from a history book. Key moments in the country's history from the American Revolution to the abolition of slavery are celebrated and encapsulated in numerous buildings and monuments. The best way to appreciate what the city has to offer is to pound its winding network of streets and diverse neighbourhoods - it's so compact and easy to navigate on foot and driving around the city is a nightmare.
From upmarket Beacon Hill and studenty Harvard to the Italian North End, Irish-influenced Southie' and Back Bay, with its shops and cafes. Like London, each district has its own charms and attractions. In fact, many visitors consider Boston to be one of the most European cities in North America.
Needless to say, it's attractive, enhanced by its natural waterfront setting -- Boston has a historic harbour and the meandering Charles River. In addition, numerous parks and a hot and sunny climate mean there is plenty to satisfy outdoor-lovers in the summer from bike rides to picnics and concerts. Whale watching cruises and the chance to go bird-watching in one of the city's 30-plus islands, which make up a national park, mean there are plenty of natural gems too close. However, autumn is also a popular time to visit, when trees in the city burst with flaming reds, browns and yellows, part of the legendary New England fall foliage.
A recommended spot to see the city in all its glory is from the Skywalk Observatory, on the 50th floor of the towering Prudential building. It is one of many soaring glass and steel skyscrapers that reflect the city's contemporary face, alongside a plethora of fabulous museums, edgy art galleries, sophisticated restaurants and a diverse nightlife scene.
And there's plenty of other attractions to explore. Ever fancied seeing a baseball match? You're in the right place. Head to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox in action. Love savouring a food market? Tuck into gourmet cuisine at Quincy Market, an unmissable indoor market in the city centre or sample freshly caugh lobster or the city's legendary clam chowder. Bit of a shopaholic? Check out the boutiques on Newbury Street, luxury shops in Copley Place or the the state's biggest outlet mall on the outskirts of the city.
One word of warning though; Boston is not cheap. You'll be hard pressed to find centrally located hotels for less than $100 a night, and this is ranked as one of the world's most expensive cities.

From the plains of the downs country to the silvery shimmer of the sun shining on the gidgee trees in the forest country, Richmond is often referred to as an oasis in the Outback.
Situated on the Overlander's Way halfway between Townsville and Mount Isa, the town is located on the bank of Queensland's longest river, the Flinders, and is known for its recreational Lake Fred Tritton and bougainvillea-lined streets, parks and gardens.
Richmond is home to the award-winning major attraction Kronosaurus Korner, where you will find the only museum in Australia primarily dedicated to displaying marine reptiles, as well as a very special dinosaur. Minmi, with impressions of its fossilised skin, is considered to be Australia's best preserved dinosaur skeleton. Minmi takes pride of place alongside the Richmond Pliosaur skeletons. This fossil, found in 1989, has to be seen to be believed.

As you explore legendary Banff National Park, you’ll come to Johnston Canyon. A tour of this beautiful part of Alberta is well worth your time if you love the outdoors.
Sightseeing in Johnston Canyon begins with winding down Bow Valley Parkway. Once you arrive in the canyon itself, you’re in for a treat. During the summer, Johnston Canyon is a green, forested place full of wildlife, but winter is when it truly shines. When there’s a chill in the air and ice clings to pine needles, Johnston Canyon transforms into a snow-blanketed wonderland. The towering walls of the canyon lend a quiet, stoic sort of tranquility to the trails and pathways within, creating a world of remarkable stillness.
Once you arrive, embark on the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk, which carries you past streams and striking frozen waterfalls. Snow and ice cling to spruce and aspen trees, glittering in the sunlight. If you’re lucky, you might spot elk, moose, and even wolves.
Johnston Canyon tourism is appropriate for visitors of all ages and walks of life. You can follow an easy, paved path to the Lower Falls, or set out on a longer hike to visit the Upper Falls. Experienced hikers can take in the quiet beauty of the inkpots, a set of six small, spring-fed pools. Be warned—you may wish to bring snowshoes and cleats, as the pathway can get slippery.

Travel to North Carolina: Admiring Trees in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is 3,800 acres of an old-growth forest. It's home to more than 100 tree species with many at least 400-years-old. Some of the trees are 100 feet all and have a circumference of more than 20 feet.
It was set aside as a memorial to Joyce Kilmer, who penned the poem, "Trees," in 1936 and was killed in action during World War I. He's buried in an American cemetery in France.

You would be hard pressed to find landscape better than that around Sedona, Arizona.
The West Fork Trail follows a tributary of Oak Creek through the Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona, Arizona. You can hike the entire canyon, but the West Fork Trail is a maintained portion for the first three miles. If you can manage it, try to get out here during the fall. You will see red, pink and gold leaves on the trees and along the path. The path gets very little sunlight, so during fall bring some warmer clothes.
At the start, you will see the ruins of a hotel built in 1926, and destroyed by a fire in 1980, called Mayhew's Lodge. The red rock canyon walls that rise straight above the creek provide an amazing backdrop of color to go along with the changing leaves. The rock you see is called Coconino sandstone, along with Kaibab limestone farther up. Different from the changing trees, you will see Ponderosa Pines that have an intoxicating smell, almost like vanilla.
Farther along the trail you can swim or relax in some of the natural pools. You can have a picnic on the flat rocks halfway down the trail as you enjoy the sound of the flowing water. Sometimes the water is so shallow along the rock, you can lay down on it while it flows. If you are feeling adventurous, continue on past the maintained trail through the canyon for another 14 miles.
You have to be prepared for even more water crossings and tougher terrain, but if you are up for it, it is worth it. West Fork Trail is a beautiful spot to visit in the fall or any other time of the year. It is a great place to relax and get away from the rest of the world. I am Carrie DeRudder, showing you Sedona.

Swat Valley Tourism Information.Swat, the land of romance and beauty, is celebrated throughout the world as the holy land of Buddhist learning and piety.
The lush-green valley of Swat, with its rushing torrents, icy-cold lakes, fruit-laden orchards and flower-decked slopes is ideal for holidaymakers. It has a rich historical past, too. This is "Udayana" (The Garden) of the ancient epics; the land of enthralling beauty, where Alexander of Macedonia fought and won some of his major battles before crossing over to the delta of Indus River. This is the "valley of hanging chairs", as described by the famous Chinese pilgrim-chroniclers, Huaen Tsang and Fa-Hian in the fifth and sixth centuries. Swat was once the cradle of Buddhism of all of its schools – Mahayana, Hinayana and Tantrayana, where once 1,400 monasteries flourished. It was the home of the famous Gandhara School of Sculpture that was an expression of Greco-Roman form in the local Buddhist tradition. Swat was also the historical land where the Muslim conquerors, Mahmud of Ghazni, Babur of Ferghana and Akbar fought their battles preparatory to the conquest of South Asia. The valley of Swat sprawls over 10,360 sq. km at an average elevation of 875 metres. The maximum temperature in July is 38 C and minimum (during January) is 1 C. The normal temperature is maximum 21 C and minimum 7 C. The tourist season is year-round.

Though other nearby temples have been cleared of the trees, archaeologists have left these temples as an example.
The fig trees' roots have grown around, over, under, and through this temple.
At places, the roots are so rampant that they are the only thing holding the building up.
In this way, it has become a singular combination of nature and artifice.
Though the banyans may ultimately destroy the temple, they currently make it a wonderful place.
