The Santa Clara River is a fine trout stream offering wild brown trout and stocked rainbows. Located in SW Utah, the upper portion runs thru the Dixie National Forest with very easy access as a road and campground are nearby. It then goes thru a deep canyon with good fishing but difficult access. The film was taken on May 5. The stream is said to not fish so well during the summer due to low flows and high temperatures. Synopsis
"On Dreams of Dixie," a Documentary Film
It was 1861 when tattered pioneers began arriving in southern Utah's red, barren desert. Amid sacrifice and loss, many had traveled across wide oceans and unforgiving plains for a place they could call their own.
Committed to education, school classes were first held in the back of covered wagons and in the areas first church houses. In 1915, the state of Utah issued an order for the area's scattered schools to join together as one and Washington County School District was formed with 1,833 registered students.
Through heartfelt interviews and stories found in the archives of county history, 'On Dreams of Dixie' gives viewers a multi-dimensional experience and character-driven look at what it was like attending school in southern Utah's early settlement communities.
More than 28,000 students are now enrolled in Washington County schools with students learning skills that prepare them for life. Looking back over the shoulder of history, it is important to acknowledge that life in southern Utah started out at a much slower pace, when times were simple. Written and produced by Melynda Thorpe, narrated by Wilford Brimley, and with an original score by Keith R Owen, "On Dreams of Dixie" provides a powerful viewer experience.

This remote campground in UTAH is less than an hour from Bryce or Zion as well as many beautiful trails locally. As most National Parks, there are no hookups however water tappets are within a hundred feet of nearly every site. Since it's elevation is over 8600', the nights are in the low 30's (early June) and days are high 60's and 70's. For one week, my camping fees were just over $65.

Synopsis
"On Dreams of Dixie," a Documentary Film
It was 1861 when tattered pioneers began arriving in southern Utah's red, barren desert. Amid sacrifice and loss, many had traveled across wide oceans and unforgiving plains for a place they could call their own.
Committed to education, school classes were first held in the back of covered wagons and in the areas first church houses. In 1915, the state of Utah issued an order for the area's scattered schools to join together as one and Washington County School District was formed with 1,833 registered students.
Through heartfelt interviews and stories found in the archives of county history, 'On Dreams of Dixie' gives viewers a multi-dimensional experience and character-driven look at what it was like attending school in southern Utah's early settlement communities.
More than 28,000 students are now enrolled in Washington County schools with students learning skills that prepare them for life. Looking back over the shoulder of history, it is important to acknowledge that life in southern Utah started out at a much slower pace, when times were simple. Written and produced by Melynda Thorpe, narrated by Wilford Brimley, and with an original score by Keith R Owen, "On Dreams of Dixie" provides a powerful viewer experience.

This remote campground in UTAH is less than an hour from Bryce or Zion as well as many beautiful trails locally. As most National Parks, there are no hookups however water tappets are within a hundred feet of nearly every site. Since it's elevation is over 8600', the nights are in the low 30's (early June) and days are high 60's and 70's. For one week, my camping fees were just over $65.

It is the capital of the U.S. state of Utah.Four mighty walls surround the 4 hectare area in the middle of the old town, the centre of the Mormon Church, Temple Square. It is decorated with flowers and contains the most important sacred buildings of the Mormon community, such as the Salt Lake Temple, The Tabernacle and Conference Centre. Joseph Smith, Jr. was 15 years old when he had his first vision. The Angel MORONI appeared to him and gave him a number of sacred texts that led to the foundation of the Mormon church. A sacred land was established and a settlement created within the desert. The largest sanctuary and centre of the Mormon faith is the Salt Lake Temple. Constructed of stone, its use is restricted to the Mormon religion. It was built between 1853 and 1893 in grey granite New Gothic style with six towers, its main one being 68 metres high. Construction of the Cathedral of the Madeleine began in 1900 and was completed in 1909, a Christian building whose exterior is of Romantic design and with a Gothic interior. Once both faith and diligence established this remarkable place. Since then, Salt Lake City has become the centre of a hugely successful religious empire.

This incomparable and beautiful canyon extends for several hundred kilometres in the northwest of Arizona. The secrets of the Canyon’s huge rock walls and deep valleys lay hidden for many years. Archaeological discoveries have shown that the Anasazi, a tribe of Native American Indians, were the first to settle within this region. From its source in the Rocky Mountains to its estuary in the Gulf Of Mexico, the Colorado River flows at an altitude of nearly three thousand metres above sea level. The rocks, sand and mud that are carried along with the water cut relentlessly into the stony ground. The deepest point of the canyons descends for 1,800 metres. Over the course of millions of years erosion and the incessant force of the river have created a unique and captivating landscape. Some kilometres south of the town of Page and Lake Powell and in the middle of a Navajo Indian reservation is a further natural masterpiece, Antelope Canyon. The bizarre, smooth walls and red sandstone formations as well as the marvellous natural light effects within the canyon are quite remarkable. Canyonlands is a national park of the same name in the south east of Utah where numerous canyons and steep river valleys seem to touch the horizon.
