During a recent expedition to the Gulf of California scientists from MBARI discovered a new field of hydrothermal vents, the deepest yet discovered in the Gulf of California. These new hydrothermal vent fields were found over thirty-eight hundred meters below the surface in the Pescadero Basin, located off the east coast of Mexico’s Baja California, about one hundred miles east of La Paz. These hydrothermal vents result from a unique combination of geology and chemistry. Using a remotely operated vehicle, researchers found towering white columns emitting geysers of clear shimmering liquid with temperatures up to 290 degrees Celsius. The superheated water flowing from these vents starts deep underground. As the hot water rises, it flows through and reacts with the surrounding bedrock, becoming saturated with carbonate minerals, which build up over time to form the large chimneys that were observed.
For more information go to MBARI news release:

STS-51-F (also known as Spacelab 2) journeys over the Gulf of California, the Baja and to the State of Sonora.
This was the nineteenth flight of NASA's Space Shuttle program, and the eighth flight of Space Shuttle Challenger. It launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on July 29, 1985, and landed just under eight days later on August 6.
While STS-51-F's primary payload was the Spacelab 2 laboratory module, the payload which received the most publicity was the Carbonated Beverage Dispenser Evaluation, which was an experiment in which both Coca-Cola and Pepsi tried to make their carbonated drinks available to astronauts.[1]
During launch the Challenger experienced multiple sensor failings in its SSMEs and had to perform an "Abort to Orbit" (ATO) emergency procedure. It is the only mission to have carried out an abort after launching. As a result of the ATO, the mission was carried out at a slightly lower orbital altitude.

Travel video about destination California in the USA.
For some, San Diego - a coastal city with a wonderful climate - is California’s southernmost city, for others it is the northernmost city in Mexico. This is where we begin our tour of California, the most populated state in the USA, the Promised Land! The red tram, known as the San Diego Trolley, leaves Amtrak Station and travels south to Seaport Village on the Mexican border while north of San Diego is Joshua Tree Park, a huge nature reserve that is located between the Mojave and Colorado Deserts. The Mormons who came to this region during their search for the ‘Promised Land’ gave the Joshua Tree its name as it reminded them of the holy prophet of the same name. Las Vegas appears like a mirage in the desert, awake night and day, THE entertainment capital of the world! Guarded by a sphinx that stretches its paws out toward the Strip, a pyramid looms above the desert paradise, the Luxor Hotel, one of many theme hotels in this incredible city. The MGM lion guards one of the largest hotels in the world with over five thousand rooms, whereas the Bellagio is a return to the exclusive nature of the casino hotels of the past: here, luxury is at its zenith - an investment of 1,8 billion dollars speaks for itself! Only two and a half hours by car to the west of Las Vegas is the USA’s most recent national park that extends to the opposite side of California’s border, Death Valley! It was through here that thousands of pioneers took a short cut while journeying west, many of them perishing in the attempt. The Yosemite National Park is a near-impenetrable landscape full of huge granite mountains over the steep slopes of which torrents of roaring water plunge a thousand metres into the valleys of the last Ice Age. Los Angeles is synonymous with Hollywood, and Beverly Hills, a perfect product of the American Dream, is its famous suburb with neat parks and blossoming flower beds. There’s also the Sidewalk Of Fame, Mann’s Chinese Theatre and Rodeo Drive, the most exclusive shopping mile in the world. And of course there’s San Francisco, a city that’s under constant threat of destruction by earthquake. Perhaps that’s why ‘Frisco exudes a strong sense of well-being that has become known as ‘That California Feelin.!’

Start your San Diego tour with a stop in Old Town, a historic park filled with buildings dating back to the 1820s. If you want something a little livelier, go a few miles south to check out the Gaslamp District, full of Victorian-era architecture and a thriving bar and club scene. Bringing the kids with you, or looking for a more sedate afternoon? Stop by the San Diego Zoo and spend some time with the many animals taking up residence there – including some of the few pandas outside of China.
Explore San Diego’s ties to the sea by touring the U.S.S. Midway, Navy Pier, and Maritime Museum. From there, it’s just a skip across the bay to Coronado, where you can lay out in the sun and soak up some rays in a quiet beach town.
Round out your day with a trip to “the jewel,” better known as La Jolla, and indulge in some of the best seafood and Mexican food you’ll find anywhere. Don’t forget to say “Hi” to the sea lions.

The state of California is located on the West Coast of the United States and is the land of huge palm trees, sandy beaches, girls in bikinis and sunshine; a paradise for surfers and the film industry.San Francisco is famous for the Golden Gate Bridge, the Alcatraz, its trams and the world’s most winding street. Los Angeles is a huge metropolitan that is a collection of unique smaller villages; the capital of the film industry reaches from Santa Monica on the coast, through Malibu all the way to the elegant Beverly Hills. The main sight of San Diego is its harbour and the nostalgic Gaslamp Quarter. However, California is made up of more than just huge cities; it is also full of natural beauty, from the giant sequoias to the Yosemite National Park, the small towns that are reminiscent of the “gold rush”; the splendor of Hearst Castle and the famous amusement parks: Disneyland, Universal Studios and Sea World, San Diego.

San Francisco, officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the leading financial and cultural center of Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The most important places to visit in San Francisco are: Golden Gate Bridge (no trip to San Francisco is complete without a visit to the Golden Gate Bridge. It truly is a special site that you will remember for a long time), Alcatraz Island (located in San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz used to have a prison which housed some of the toughest criminals. You can take a tour of the prison today), Coit Tower (gracing the landscape of San Francisco, the art deco tower was constructed to beautify the city. The observation tower at the top offers excellent city views), Golden Gate Park (it's an oasis that offers an escape from the city. The large park has beautiful landscape design with well-maintained gardens), Architectural heritage (a favorite activity for visitors to San Francisco is enjoying the architecture of local houses. These houses can even be found on many city postcards), Fisherman's Wharf (a popular tourist attraction. Fisherman's Wharf many activities, like boat cruises and you may even be able to watch sea lions in action), Cable cars (one of San Francisco's icons, cable cars are not only fun to ride, but also an efficient means for getting to various attractions within San Francisco) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important San Francisco travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

San Diego, California, is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the United States and, arguably, one of the most beautiful. The whitewashed stucco buildings give a Mediterranean-style flavor to the architecture while the culture has a decidedly Mexican influence to it (Tijuana is just a short drive over the border). Despite this foreign-country look and feel, the city of San Diego is uniquely American and a truly memorable place to visit.
The most important places to visit in San Diego are: Mission Beach, Balboa Park (one of the greatest urban parks of the world. With museums and gardens inside the park, you can spend days there), Hotel Del Coronado (an amazing ocean front hotel and historic national landmark. It has hosted top celebrities, like Marilyn Monroe, for over 120 years), Old Town (recreates traditional life from the past. Many fascinating buildings and artifacts bring the history alive), Tijuana, San Diego Zoo and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important San Diego travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. Ready to start California dreamin’? Check out our video and get ready to soak up the sea, sand, and Los Angeles attractions!
Los Angeles, California, is a magnetic city on the coast. You can’t help but be drawn to its captivating culture, exciting attractions, and picturesque beaches. Whether you want to get a sense for the local scene or you’d prefer to plop yourself under a palm tree with an ocean view, you can do it all in “The City of Angels.”
Begin your West Coast romp with a stop at Olvera Street, one of the city’s oldest downtown areas. As part of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument, this street market has strong ties to Mexican culture. Today, you can walk around the crafts and restaurants that make up the marketplace. For a different dose of culture, head to Little Tokyo, or J-Town. Home to the Japanese American National Museum, Buddhist temples, and traditional Japanese restaurants, J-Town is known for creating the California sushi roll.
To see a different side of the LA culture, check out the ritzy shopping district, Rodeo Drive. Considered one of the world’s most expensive shopping areas, this three-block strip showcases high-end stores and designer goods, revealing how the other half lives. From here, embark on one of the Los Angeles tours in Beverly Hills to marvel at the immaculate lawns and lavish homes, some of which belong to Hollywood’s most famous celebrities.
After roaming around the streets of LA, it’s time to dig your toes in the sand. When it comes to beaches, take your pick! Santa Monica is one of the country’s favorite resorts, as it boasts a long stretch of sand and sea, and of course, the ever-popular pier. Prefer a slightly kookier vibe? Make your way to Venice Beach, where the weird and wonderful meet on the promenade. From the gym rats at Muscle Beach to the tricksters at Venice Beach Skate Park, there’s no shortage of things to see at this shoreline. To top it all off, don’t miss the epic coastal views of Malibu from the 21-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway.
From tours in Los Angeles around famous spots to the ultimate relaxation at the seaside, it’s no wonder they like to call it the “Best Coast.” For more reasons to make you want to pack up your bags and head to SoCal, check out our Los Angeles travel guide video.

Orange is located in Orange County, California. Orange is unusual in that many of the homes in its Old Town District were built prior to 1920; whereas many other cities in the region demolished such houses in the 1960s, Orange decided to preserve them. The small affluent city of Villa Park is surrounded by the city of Orange.
The most important places to visit in Orange are: Old Towne Orange, Irvine Regional Park, Steve Ambriz Memorial Park, Disneyland, Laguna Beach, Orange Zoo and many more.

California travel expert Veronica Hill of http://www.CaliforniaTravelExpert.com tours Palm Springs in this episode of "California Travel Tips."
Located 114 miles east of Los Angeles off the I-10 and 111 freeways, this balmy desert oasis makes a charming weekend escape.
A few of my favorite Palm Springs attractions are the famous Palm Springs Tram, that whisks you 8,500 feet above Mount San Jacinto, the Desert Adventures Jeep Tour, which takes you into the California desert and along the San Andreas Fault, and the educational Living Desert zoo and botanical gardens, where you can get a close-up look at native desert plants and desert animals.
If you're looking to stay the weekend, Palm Springs hotels such as Desert Riviera Hotel and Horizon Hotel cater to the swanky crowd looking for a bit of retro chic. Both are located in the Heritage District, which is home to many of Palm Springs Mid Century Modern buildings.
Palm Springs resorts like Rancho Las Palmas and the Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa are known for their great pools, golf courses and spas.
For a price, you can even stay the night at Frank Sinatra's former Twin Palms estate, or the honeymoon hideaway of Elvis Presley. Daily house tours of the Elvis home ($25 weekdays and $35 weekends) are offered by appointment.
By night you'll find some fun Palm Springs entertainment at the Palm Springs Follies, where an over-55 cast of vaudeville entertainers pay homage to Route 66 in a musical revue.
Before you leave, don't forget to stop at the Shield's Date Farm in Indio, where you can stock up on Medjool dates, moist date nut bread or sample one of their famous creamy date shakes. You'll think you've died and gone to heaven.
Palm Springs weather varies from the 70s in winter and spring to over 110 F during the summer months, so be sure you've packed accordingly. Even during peak season, you should bring a jacket. Evening temperatures often dip into the 40s.

wn.com/Palm Springs California Travel Tips
You'll think you've died and gone to heaven.

http://grrrltraveler.com/countries/north-america/los-angeles/best-boardwalks-in-the-world-venice-beach/
Venice Beach has got it all. You'll see anything and everything here. Anything goes. If there's one beach that has that complete L.A. Hollywood vibe, Venice Beach is gonna be it.
1. People-watching & murals
You will see strange and weird characters, to guys working out on the beach, skate boarders, paddle ballers and really eclectic performers.
Are you a fan of art? See how many murals can you find along the boardwalk. The neighborhood is a huge mural museum.
2. California style workouts
Californians love their sun and outdoor activities, so what makes Venice Beach one of the best boardwalks in the world are its free recreational facilities. Surprisingly, the beach boardwalk houses a skate park, basketball courts, paddle ball courts and bike paths; and of course, it's also got the beach!
3. Muscle Beach
For those who aren't shy about doing their workout in public, don't mind a little California tan, they go to Muscle Beach. Muscle Beach was originally founded in 1930 and was located near the Santa Monica Pier. It was known for bodybuilding and acrobatics. Although the original landmark has closed, the Muscle Beach Venice has picked up its tradition and contains an outdoor weight-lifting gym for folks to work out in. Many bodybuilding celebrities have graced its turf from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Larry Scott and Hulk Hogan.
4. Shopping
Venice Beach has got a lot of shopping from unique artwork and crafts sold by boardwalk artists or you can buy souvenirs and clothing from store vendors.
5. Getting around Venice Beach boardwalk
You can rent a bike, segway, tricycles, roller blades...
For more details, read my post: Reasons to Visit Venice Beach: http://grrrltraveler.com/countries/north-america/los-angeles/best-boardwalks-in-the-world-venice-beach/

The Common Octopus – Octopus vulgaris, which live on reefs worldwide and are thought to be one of the smartest animals in the ocean. Growing to over 20 pounds these animals can hold their own against many predators.
The common octopus is very good at hiding from predators in the water. They can stay in lairs they create. If you know what to look for, you will be able to recognize signs of their presence. They collect crustacean shells and a variety of other items. They create an elaborate fortress around their shelter area.

This is a FULL breakdown of the past weeks worth of Earthquakes, the locations of the volcanic seismic unrest which are swarming, and a full rundown of the processes at play causing the movement to occur in the United State, Central + South America, West Pacific, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
The last earthquake forecast issued on September 1, 2015 called for renewed West Coast earthquake activity to reach higher than M5.0....... we have seen a M5.2 (now downgraded to a M4.7) in NW Nevada, and a M6.7 off the West coast in the Gulf of California Baja Mexico.
In addition to the multiple earthquakes on the West coast striking in just a few days time from each other, this video makes note of the location of the earthquakes mostly residing directly in close proximity to dormant volcanoes.
Areas near the Northern Border of the United States and Canada.. reaching into Vancouver Island BC .. and the Southeast Alaskan island chain need to be on watch for possible larger activity to strike (as shown in the video).
Don't rule out activity to the South in Central California near the dormant volcanoes.
West Pacific.. areas are now a repeat of the previous watch zones from the past several watches over the past several months. Things are starting to follow a definite pattern at this point.

Over the past 10 days, since May 1 2015, a series of volcanic eruptions, and large earthquakes has taken place across the Pacific.
(said Baltic sea about 20min into the video .. should have been Caspian Sea just East of Turkey -- shame on me! :) lol )
In addition to the multiple volcanic eruptions at Mount Sinabung, Mount Karangetang, and Sakurajima / Ontake, we all have news the Mount Bulusan and Mount Hakone might be soon erupting.
Multiple 7.0M+ earthquake struck this past week near Papua New Guinea, a Tsunami off the coast of Japan, in addition to a series of earthquakes at Dormant volcanoes along the West coast of the United States.
Full update on the past 10 days of activity here:
http://dutchsinse.com/5102015-past-10-days-of-activity-globally-forecast-area-recap-from-the-past-week-accuracy-checks/
Be on watch just South of the Swarm location near mainland Japan extending southwest towards Taiwan. Also be on watch to the East of Papua New Guinea (again) for a midrange 6.0M+ event in light of the new deep earthquake (5.0M) which struck in the Asthenosphere below Fiji.
Watch Kuril Islands for a possible VERY large earthquake, as well as a moderately large (midrange 6.0M) earthquake near South Japan / Taiwan. Hoping we only see smaller movement out of all this volcanic activity in the region.
Keep watch in Philippines / Indonesia for new (further) eruptions at the three volcanoes which started erupting this past week (Bulusan, Karangetang, and Sinabung). Keep watch on Mount Hakone in South Japan near Tokyo, and near Mount Ontake at Sakurajima.
United States , watch the far Pacific Northwest as shown in the video, the 50 mile stretch from Vancouver BC to the Alaska island border. Watch the edge of the craton states , including a new series of earthquakes which should hit Colorado -- they'll pretended to be surprised at the movement, and will deny its relation to fracking, but nonetheless watch out for it to occur.
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas should also see new 4.0M+ activity... after we see the midwest movement , we should see follow up movement along the East coast of the United State... this should come at the end of this week going into the next earthquake forecast time period...
Southern California.. watch out East of Los Angeles near Pisgah Craters, North to mono lake for additional noteworthy movement above 4.0M but under 6.0M, also watch the DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES FRACKING OPERATION for a possible 4.0M+ event.
Europe, be on watch near South England West across the channel into North Holland.. possible 3.0M to 4.0M activity.
North Africa... be on watch from Algeria to Gibralter for a possible 5.0M+ earthquake.
Central America.. watch North Mexico in the Gulf of California for a 6.0M range event.. could be just under 6.0M in the 5.7 to 5.9M range.
South America.. .Coast of Peru into central Colombia.. 6.0 to mid 6.0M range earthquake.

In parallel with his research, Ted lead the successful effort to commit Bard College to Carbon Neutrality, resulting in a revolution of the curriculum and management of the 600 + acre campus and the establishment of the Bard Center for Environmental Policy and Masters in Sustainable Business Administration, which he helped in forming the foundational curriculum. For two years Ted conducted research at the Center for Research on Environmental Decisions of Columbia University’s Earth Institute, culminating in his first public speech at the first TED event in New York City called “The Poetry of Science: Realizing Our Potential Through Humanizing Our Research”. The speech he gave lead to a personal realization no solutions to Global Warming could be distributed through old institutions, but that new institutions had to be made, that did not ignore the spiritual rebirth of mankind, and that nothing short of a planetary, face to face network could distribute solutions necessary for an appropriate response to Global Warming.
To find some inner perspective, Ted visited the Kogi of Colombia, the largest pre-Columbian civilization, began studying the Bahá’í institutional framework and organized key groups of the Occupy Wall Street, continuing into multi year work with local and international First Nations in organizing farmers and waterways. Through this work Ted met and married his greatest inspiration, Anne Apparu, and they now manage a garden in the Upper West Side with three schools, and offer pan-generational education on how global warming can be managed, stopped or even taken advantage of by rebuilding soil systems, advancing global culture of healthy eating, and implementing already functioning patterns of community development and collective learning.

REFUGEES HOSTED IN EX-NAZI CONCENTRATION CAMP. Solar activity still is very lax with NOAA forecasters giving only a 10% chance of flares. The second solar eclipse of the year happened this morning, leaving stunning views over southern Africa and Antarctica. Excitement is growing with the upcoming super blood moon lunar eclipse coming on the night of September 27-28, 2015. This September full moon is also called a Blood Moon, because it presents the fourth and final eclipse of a lunar tetrad: four straight total eclipses of the moon, spaced at six lunar months (full moons) apart. A large earthquake, measuring magnitude 6.6, hit the Gulf of California yesterday. Climate scientists reveal a new study stating that if we burn all of the fossils that Antartica would completely melt raising sea levels by as 200 ft. Over the next 1,000-10,000 years. Mount Aso, a volcano on Japan’s main southern island of Kyushu, has erupted unexpectedly today. Norwegian hotel billionaire Petter Stordalen has offered 5,000 nights to refugees at his hotels. Egyptian telecom billionaire Naguib Sawiris announced an audacious plan for the world’s refugee crisis to buy an island in the Mediterranean for the asylum seekers. Germany on Sunday said it was reaching a breaking point with the ongoing refugee crisis and would implement emergency controls on its border with Austria. Global markets still pensive with weak Chinese data and upcoming U.S. Federal Reserve meeting this week on interest rates.

Prophet Efrain Rodriguez was shown in a vision that a large meteor will hit near Puerto Rico and cause a tsunami 1,000 feet high which will be from 200 to 400 ft high when it hits the east coast of America. It will go inland from 20 to 100 miles. It will also split America from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and large chucks of California to fall into the ocean.
In a this follow-up DVD, Stan Johnson puts together the rest of the picture together quoting:
• SIX people saw: "…a large meteor hit near Puerto Rico."
• FOUR people saw: Tsunami hit Eastern coast of the United States
• SIX people saw: America split into two pieces
• THREE people saw: Large chunks of California to fall into the ocean!
• THREE people saw: America split because she split Israel.
