The 2015 Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) annual conference took place in Jerez, Spain.
http://www.itaa.ie
http://www.spain.info/en_IE/
http://www.travelmedia.ie
Over 100 travel professionals attended the conference entitled ‘Embracing The Future’, where a range of speakers discussed past and future trends, business successes, planning for the future and the all important work life balance.
Opening the conference, Martin Skelly, President of the ITAA said, “The travel industry is a crucial sector in the Irish economy supporting in excess of four thousand jobs right across
the country. The depth of knowledge, expertise, security and unrivalled service which travel agents provide customers is something that cannot be surpassed by online alternatives.
Visiting new destinations is key for us to familiarise ourselves with new destinations for Irish holiday makers. He continued, “We are very much delighted to be guests in this vibrant city midway
between the sea and the mountains. Given the popularity of Spain with Irish holiday makers, it was an obvious choice for our conference, giving Irish travel professionals the opportunity to learn more about the hidden Spain.”
Speakers at the conference included; CEO of Atlas Group and GoHop.ie Stephen McKenna, eCommerce and Digital Marketing expert Juan Cullen, professional trainer of Workplace Wellbeing Sheila O’Malley, European Sales Manager at Aer Lingus, John Keogh, Managing Director of Club Travel Liam Lonergan and expert in retail change Alan O’Neill.
Stephen McKenna, CEO of Atlas Travel Group and GoHop.ie said, “We are living in the digital age of clutter, there are thousands of results on Google for every search. Many might say that this is a threat to travel agents, but in fact it can be their greatest opportunity. People live busy lifestyles and busy people do not want to trawl thousands of results, websites and reviews to book their holiday. This is where people value a good, experienced specialist travel agent who can cut through the clutter and deliver a hassle free service.”
Juan Cullen, eCommerce and Digital Marketing specialist said “Travel is now more accessible than ever before, 80% of flights this year were booked directly by the consumer. To survive
in this market travel agents need to alter their services and provide special experiences that set them apart from the generic. The future of travel agents is in niche, long haul and luxury travel – this is where an agent can really use their knowledge to add value for the customer.
I think we are seeing a shift from ‘travel agent’ to ‘experience agents’.” Liam Lonergan, owner and founder of Club Travel said, “When I started off in this business ‘cheap’ was a dirty word, but now if you don’t use ‘cheap’ ‘low cost’ or ‘best value’ no one
will pay attention. We have to embrace it.” Speaking about the future Lonergan said, “Travel agents need to automate back-end work, people are inefficient at administrative jobs. I have spent years engineering out mistakes through automation. My staff focus on selling which is what they are best at and it’s what
our business is built on, to me, productivity is about shifting the focus to sales”.
Pat Dawson, CEO of the ITAA said, "Jerez is in the province of Cadiz and it acclaimed worldwide for its sherry, fine horses, flamenco music and much more. We would like to thank our Spanish hosts, Turismo Andaluz, The Spanish Tourist Board, the Provincia de Cádiz Convention Bureau (PCCB), Aer Lingus and all of our sponsors for their kind and generous assistance with this important event."
The ITAA represents Ireland's travel Industry, bringing together 100 member companies covering 161 outlets in different towns and cities throughout the Republic of Ireland. ITAA members are licensed by the Commission for Aviation Regulation and are fully bonded providing full financial protection for their customers.

The 2015 Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) annual conference took place in Jerez, Spain.

http://www.travelmedia.ie

I travel around Poland, around Europe, sometimes somewhere further. I'm from Poland and we don't have euros, dollars or pounds so I travel on a budget and want to give you some tips that I use. :)
Maybe you have any questions about travelling already? Write them in a comment below and I'll answer in next videos! :)
The Bucket List Challenge is a huge project and now I'm focused on Polish part. You can vote on my blog where I should go in November. The description of the cities is here: http://hannatravels.com/2014/10/02/5-cities-see-poland-november/
Why I want to make films? Because I've blogged for 4 years now and I'm quite bored with writing. Need something new, something fresh. So I chose vlogs. :)
I know that the quality of this video is not the highest (WHERE THIS BLACK PARTS CAME FROM?!) but hey! It's my first video ever! I'll learn. Just be patient. ;)
I had so many technical problems this week that I'm really happy that I was stubborn enough to make this video. I was close to give up, though. But I'm a fighter. It's not easy to break me. ;)

Coach travel tours in Limerick are up as operators benefit from Wild Atlantic Way
( March 31, 2015 ) Limerick, Ireland — At this moment, thousands of touristss are exploring the path of the Wild Atlantic Way, which stretches from Donegal in the North to Cork in the South of Ireland.
This new tourist trek is one of the factors that accounts for the increase in visitors to Ireland, especially Limerick and the West Coast, in the past 12 months. According to the Central Statistics Office, there was a 10.3 per cent increase in overseas visitors to the region last year.
Barratt Tours chief executive Dick Martin says “there was a significant increase in British tourist numbers last year and the increase in continental customers was being felt in recent months. It looks like being another record year for US tourists, with numbers up by more than 10.6 per cent.”
The Wild Atlantic Way is cited by Mr. Martin to explain the increase in visitors, “It’s certainly helping us an awful lot,” Dick says. “We are between two of the major destination points in the area – Limerick City and the Cliffs Of Moher – and this year we’ve noticed a significant increase in tourists from Britain”.
This year too they’ve noticed a lot of Irish doing the stay-at-home thing. “We’re getting a lot more locals and a lot from France and Italy and of course the North Americans, but also quite a few Canadians.” said Mr. Martin.
Many in the tourist industry say the success of the Wild Atlantic Way shows how such initiatives can encourage tourists to see more than Dublin. “We needed a strategy to tackle the Shannon, the midlands and the Border region. The recovery is not lifting all boats,” says Dick. “But the Wild Atlantic Way seems to be doing a good job”.
Other industry areas that have benefited are the pub and restaurant trades. According to the Vintners Federation of Ireland the future of the Irish pub is looking secure again. “More than 1,000 pubs closed in the past six or seven years but now some doors are being reopened and they are offering much more than just drink, says Pádraig Cribben “Some 80 per cent of people state they are using pubs for food now,” Cribben says.
Still optimism rules for 2015 especially with coach tour operators along the West Coast. “I have no doubt that this project will prove to be a game-changer for tourism in the west and will lure ever greater numbers of visitors to Ireland,” says Dick Martin of Barratt Tours. Dick added “We advise people to start planning today for their trip to one of the world’s most dramatic coastal landscapes.”

Sights in Northern Ireland
Ulster American Folk Park
----------------------------------------------
In the 18th and 19th centuries thousands of Ulster people left their homes to forge a new life across the Atlantic; 200,000 emigrated in the 18th century alone. Their story is told here at one of Ireland's best museums, which features a sprawling outdoor history park , where exhibits are split into Old World and New World areas and come alive through reenactments.
The park is 8km northwest of Omagh off the A5. Last admission is 1½ hours before closing.
City Hall
--------------------
Belfast's classical Renaissance-style City Hall was built in fine, white Portland stone in 1906. Highlights of the free, 45-minute guided tour include the sumptuous, wedding-cake Italian marble and colourful stained glass of the entrance hall and rotunda; an opportunity to sit on the mayor's throne in the council chamber; and the idiosyncratic portraits of past lord mayors. Each is allowed to choose his or her own artist and the variations in personal style are intriguing.
The Industrial Revolution transformed Belfast in the 19th century. The city's rapid rise to muck-and-brass prosperity manifested in the extravagance of the building, which was paid for with the gas supply company's profits. The hall is fronted by a statue of a rather dour 'we are not amused' Queen Victoria . The bronze figures on either side of her symbolise the textile and shipbuilding industries. The child at the back represents education.
Ulster Museum
---------------------------
You could spend hours browsing this state-of-the-art museum, but if you're pressed for time don't miss the Armada Room , with artefacts retrieved from the 1588 wreck of the Spanish galleon Girona; the Egyptian Room , with Princess Takabuti, a 2500-year-old Egyptian mummy unwrapped in Belfast in 1835; and the Early Peoples Gallery , with the bronze Bann Disc, a superb example of Celtic design from the Iron Age.
Free tours (10 people maximum; first-come, first served) run at 2.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 1.30pm Sunday.
Crown Liquor Saloon
================
There are not too many historical monuments that you can enjoy while savouring a pint of beer, but the National Trust's Crown Liquor Saloon is one of them. Belfast's most famous bar was refurbished by Patrick Flanagan in the late 19th century and displays Victorian decorative flamboyance at its best (he was looking to pull in a posh clientele from the newfangled train station and Grand Opera House across the street).
Castle Coole
---------------------------
The 600 hectares of landscaped grounds contain a lake that is home to the UK's only nonmigratory colony of greylag geese. You can also join a tour of the grand 18th-century house .
The estate is 2.5km southeast of Enniskillen. You can easily walk there from Enniskillen town centre in 30 minutes – beyond Dunnes Stores, fork left on Tempo Rd and keep going straight along Castlecoole Rd.
When King George IV visited Ireland in 1821, the second Earl of Belmore had a state bedroom specially prepared at Castle Coole in anticipation of the monarch's visit. The king, however, was more interested in dallying with his mistress at Slane Castle and never turned up. The bedroom, draped in red silk and decorated with paintings depicting A Rake's Progress (the earl's sniffy riposte to the king's extramarital shenanigans), is one of the highlights of the one-hour guided tour.
Navan Fort
-------------------------
Perched atop a drumlin, Ulster's most important archaeological site is linked in legend with the tales of Cúchulainn and named as capital of Ulster and the seat of the legendary Knights of the Red Branch. Exhibits at the outstanding Navan Centre place the fort in its historical context, and display a re-creation of an Iron Age settlement.
It's a 3km walk west of Armagh; alternatively, take bus 73 (up to nine daily Monday to Friday).
Giant’s Causeway
---------------------------------
This spectacular rock formation – Northern Ireland's only Unesco World Heritage site – is one of Ireland's most impressive and atmospheric landscape features, a vast expanse of regular, closely packed, hexagonal stone columns looking for all the world like the handiwork of giants. The phenomenon is explained in the Giant's Causeway Visitor Experience , a spectacular new ecofriendly building half-hidden in a hillside above the sea.
Derry's City Walls
---------------------------------
The best way to get a feel for Derry's layout and history is to walk the 1.5km circumference of the city's walls.
