My first flip video of the first half of my very first official nature journal! I always kept sketchbooks, but I never made one specifically focused on nature, nor did I include any writing besides a few factual notes here and there.
So this journal is pretty special to me because I started it my 1st semester of grad school when I first learned about Nature-Study and that nature journaling was a "thing" people did!
I don't consider all the entries artistic "successes," but they were all successful in helping me connect more deeply with my nearby natural world! It's just about getting outside, observing, creatively connecting, and whatever ends up on the page is the right thing for that time!
If you have my book, you may also notice some of the book's illustrations were taken from this journal!

Also notable is that the o

Nature no longer exists apart from humanity. Henceforth, the world we will inhabit is the one we have made. Geologists have called this new planetary epoch the Anthropocene, the Age of Humans.

An excerpt from a debate on evolution, featuring a brilliant comment from a Turkish creationist employed as faculty in Gazi University.
Now, I am not saying that impact factors are necessarily representative of journal prestige, but this particular professor has never published in a journal with an IF over 1. Nature currently has an IF of 41. Of no importance, indeed.
Also notable is that the other side's response is "Christ, is this dude for real?"

Nature no longer exists apart from humanity. Henceforth, the world we will inhabit is the one we have made. Geologists have called this new planetary epoch the Anthropocene, the Age of Humans.
Duke Prof. Jedediah Purdy reads from his newly released book, which begins with a history of how Americans have shaped their landscapes.
He explores the competing traditions that still infuse environmental law and culture. With human and environmental fates now inseparable, environmental politics will become either more deeply democratic or more unequal and inhumane.
Where nothing is pure, we must create ways to rally devotion to a damaged and ever-changing world.
Prof. Purdy teaches constitutional, environmental, and property law and writes in all of these areas. He also teaches legal theory and writes on issues at the intersection of law and social and political thought. Along with five previous books, his writings have also appeared in the New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, New York Times Book Review, Die Zeit, and Democracy Journal.

But this definition of philosophy implies a somewhat singular analytic of the concept, to borrow Kant’s phrase, and Deleuze’s concept of the concept, as it were, differs s

In this 23 minute video, you will see professional aquascaper, and founder of The Green machine- James Findley creating a planted aquarium from scratch. We'll take you step by step through the process so you can understand the technical and artistic decisions James makes at each stage.
James is using one of the most popular sized aquariums on the market- a 60 cm wide, by 30 deep, by 36 cm high, 64.8 litre ADA Cube Garden.
ADA Cube Gardens are made from low-iron, higher clarity glass, which results in a brighter, more vibrant view of your planted tank.
James is well known for creating Supertanks such as Nature's Chaos, Arizona, and Reciprocity, so it is interesting to see him planting a more average sized home aquarium.
For over 100 photos, plus full setup specification and video transcript, read the aquascape journal on our website here: http://www.thegreenmachineonline.com/blog/escarpment-nature-aquarium-james-findley

SETI Talks archive: http://seti.org/talks
Nature is one of the world's leading scientific journals, publishing many papers thatreceive wide attention by the general public. But, Nature is very selective-- less than 7% of submittedpapers are published. In order to maximize your chances of getting published, papers should present fundamental new physical insights, or startling observations/results. Theory papers
pose additional problems, as we want only those papers that are likely to be the correct explanation, and not simply exploring parameter space. The writing should be clear, concise and directed at the level of a graduate course in the subject. I encourage authors to contact me in advance of submission of a paper, both to ascertain the appropriateness of the result
for Nature, and to ensure that the writing is close to our standards. Posting to ArXiv is and always has been allowed, but authors should discuss the specifics with their institutional public affairs officers before doing so. Lapses in professional ethics seem to be on the rise -- I will discuss some examples, and what we should be doing to keep astronomy clean.

In Nature, Kim Lewis and colleagues report a method for growing otherwise "unculturable" soil bacteria and a novel antibiotic, teixobactin. This discovery led to extraordinary headlines about an antibiotic "resistant to resistance", but how true are these headlines? Does this compound upend the "dogma" that bacteria will always develop resistance, as claimed by Lewis in an interview with Nature's Marian Turner? How will this new technique of cultivating hard-to-culture bacteria in situ advance our understanding of soil bacteria and more? Join us to discuss!

A/V#11.02 2010 Autumn
http://www.actualvirtualjournal.com/2014/11/av11.html
In What is Philosophy?, Deleuze and Guattari define philosophy, famously, as an activity that consists in forming, inventing, and fabricating concepts. But this definition of philosophy implies a somewhat singular analytic of the concept, to borrow Kant’s phrase, and Deleuze’s concept of the concept, as it were, differs significantly from previous conceptions of the concept. One of the problems it poses is the fact that concepts, from a Deleuzian perspective, have no identity but only a becoming. There is a becoming of concepts not only within Deleuze’s corpus, but also in each book and in each concept, which is extended to and draws from the entire history of philosophy. This paper examines the nature of this becoming of concepts, which is the result of introduction temporality into the form of the true.

In this video, Kent explains that evolutionists believe that the first life came from a rock through the exact process used in the Miller-Urey experiment, which didn't include any rocks.
I cover approximately minutes 21-31 of the 110-minute "100 Reasons Evolution is So Stupid!". Abiogenesis and the Miller-Urey experiment.
The title is the magnificent opening line of Kent's first doctoral dissertation, my favourite document in the history of ever: https://file.wikileaks.org/file/kent-hovind-doctoral-dissertation.pdf
