It was a street party with quality, healthy fun and a street party feel that ran for 12 hours!
But what is it exactly? It’s pretty much a 325m (1000 ft) LONG WATERSLIDE!
This two lane slide is 6m wide, 325m long and has a layer of 40mm foam underneath it for a soft landing and will be recycling as much water as possible.

We stopped in to check out the some of the great natural experiences that can be enjoyed in Townsville and its surrounds. We started with a trip to Wallaman falls before heading to Paluma for a swim at both bIg and little crystal creek
Once we got into the town centre and went for a walk along the strand before visiting Reef HQ.
Magnetic island is a short ferry ride from Townsville and is worth the trip some great things to see and there are many opportunities that will allow you to get up close to some Australian wildlife.
This destination has a number of wildlife sanctuaries that will allow you to hold a Koala, wombat, snake or even feed a crocodile.
This is another great Queensland destination that is a must see

After arriving in Townsville our first point to check out was the Strand. This promenade stretches along 2.2km of their beachfront.
The Strand is really popular among locals and visitors and it is pretty easy to see why when you go there. We went for a stroll along the walkway and there were people riding their bikes, exercising, having picnics and barbecues and just socialising along there. It has a very nice atmosphere about it.
There are life guard patrolled swimming beaches and even thought he water is so calm it is quite nice and reassuring to know that the life guards are there in case anything was to happen.
There is even a free water park area for kids and this section was understandably busy with kids, and adults, trying to cool off on a warm day.
We then checked in to our accommodation at Jupiters Townsville. The hotel is located close to the Strand and is right on the waterfront overlooking the marina and Magnetic Island, so we loved the location and view.
You can choose from a range of different types of rooms to suit your budget , from superior rooms to the luxurious executive suites. And believe me the executive suites were spectacular, with a view to Magnetic Island from your bath tub.
The hotel also have various dining options depending on what you feel like, and bar areas to relax and enjoy a nice cold drink or cocktail at the end of your day. We tried their seafood buffet (definitely recommended) and their al a carte Essence Restaurant.

A visit to Townsville isn't complete without spending some time over on Magnetic Island.
This tropical island offers a world of fun and adventure to experience, with over 20km of walking tracks and 23 bays and beaches to explore.
The short quick trip over to Maggi (as it is affectionately called by the locals) is quite picturesque so is a good time to get your camera out. When we arrived we decided to hire a car from C:Drive Car Rentals as it is quite a large island and a car would make sure that we got around nice and easily. There are also buses if you don't want to hire a car.
We had a pretty action packed day which was awesome, but I would suggest staying on the island a few days to really make the most of it. There is a lot of accommodation there from backpackers to 5* resorts.
We made sure that we had a full day of fun and adventure and went out jet skiing and on tube rides with Jet Ski Hire Magnetic island ( www.jetskihiremi.com.au ); paid a visit to the local wildlife park at Bungalow Bay Koala Village ( www.bungalowbay.com.au ) where we hugged a koala and crocodile; had an amazing seafood lunch at the marlin Bar; went snorkeling along their fringing reefs in their bays and beaches; saw a koala in a tree in the wild on their Forts Walk; and topped our day off with a sunset stretch limo ride with Magnetic Limousines ( www.magneticlimousines.com.au ) to delicious dinner and cocktails at Noodies on the Beach ( www.noodiesonthebeach.com ).

http://www.overlander.tv/ Magnetic Island, ten minutes ferry ride from Townsville is unique in that it has a permanent residential population of about 2,000 people.
This means unlike alot of 'resort' islands, Magnetic caters for all budgets. More than half the Island is national park and thus wildlife such as koalas, wallabies, possums and birdlife are plentiful.
I didn't interview a local on Magnetic, I decided I would just concentrate on the natural beauty of the Island. I got some great wildlife shots and the beaches and bays are to die for.

Julia creek is on the Overlanders way between Townsville and Mt Isa. Having a reputation as being on of the friendliest little towns in the outback, it is not long before you the locals are saying hi and stopping for a chat.
The PROA Redclaw Farm does free tours to show you how they grow and harvest these little freshwater crayfish. And then you get to taste and buy them fresh from the farm.
While in Julia Creek, a visit to the Top Pub shouldn't be missed. They definitely know how to have fun in this friendly little town.
