Meinl approached me a few months ago and asked if I'd be interested in demoing a new series of cymbals for the 2012 NAMM show.
The cymbals are a branch of the Classics Custom line - the Classics Custom 'Extreme Metal' series. They're directed towards metal musicians of all varieties (as well as heavy hitters). They really impressed me - most thicker cymbals sound... well, thick. These on the other hand share many of the characteristics that I love about a cymbal with a more medium or light weight, but still hold a true, crisp, metal sound. In other words - their durability is impeccable and they sound great. You'll definitely see me mixing some of them in with my 'normal' cymbal setup, as well as playing with them live.

This promo goes in and out of three songs. One is a new Ordinance tune (for which a title has yet to be formed), the second is "Uncensored" off of the latest Threat Signal record, and the last is the title track from the debut Ordinance record "Internal Monologues".
Eventually, I'll upload the videos for these three tunes from this session in their entirety.
Please keep in mind that this is a promotional video and in addition to hearing the cymbals the point is to teach you about the product (hence the on-screen text).

Extreme metal is a loosely defined umbrella term for a number of related heavy metal music subgenres that have developed since the early 1980s. The term usually refers to a more abrasive, harsher, underground, non-commercialized style or sound nearly always associated with genres like black metal, death metal, doom metal, thrash metal and sometimes speed metal.
Though many extreme sub-styles not very well known to mainstream music fans, as extreme metal is by definition counterculture, extreme metal has influenced an array of musical performers inside and outside of heavy metal.
"Extreme" can be meant to describe any of the following traits: music (whether it is intended to be faster, more aggressive, abrasive or "heavier" than other metal styles), lyrics (dealing with darker, more sensational topics and themes), vocals (which often use guttural, harsh or abrasive singing), or appearance and stage demeanor (using corpse paint, Satanic or occult imagery). The "extreme" label is most commonly applied to bands whose music is extreme; for example, few would consider Kiss or Alice Cooper to be extreme metal, though they could be considered to employ "extreme" elements in their appearance and stage demeanor for their time.

Meinl approached me a few months ago and asked if I'd be interested in demoing a new series of cymbals for the 2012 NAMM show. The cymbals are a branch of the Classics Custom line - the Classics Custom 'Extreme Metal' series. They're directed towards metal musicians of all varieties (as well as heavy hitters). They really impressed me - most thicker cymbals sound... well, thick. These on the other hand share many of the characteristics that I love about a cymbal with a more medium or light weight, but still hold a true, crisp, metal sound. In other words - their durability is impeccable and they sound great. You'll definitely see me mixing some of them in with my 'normal' cymbal setup, as well as playing with them live. Here is a list of the cymbals that I used from left to right (drummers perspective): 19" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Crash (used as ride) 16" Classics Custom Extreme Metal China 17" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Crash 14" Classics Custom Medium Hi Hats 16" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Crash 10" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Splash 14" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Hi Hats 18" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Crash 16"/18" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Stack 20" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Ride This promo goes in and out of three songs. One is a new Ordinance tune (for which a title has yet to be formed), the second is "Uncensored" off of the latest Threat Signal record, and the last is the title track from the debut Ordinance record "Internal Monologues". Eventually, I'll upload the videos for these three tunes from this session in their entirety. Please keep in mind that this is a promotional video and in addition to hearing the cymbals the point is to teach you about the product (hence the on-screen text). Mixing was done by Greg Macklin, video editing was done by me! NAMM was a ton of fun and a dream come true, can't wait to go again! Meinl approached me a few months ago and asked if I'd be interested in demoing a new series of cymbals for the 2012 NAMM show.
The cymbals are a branch of the Classics Custom line - the Classics Custom 'Extreme Metal' series. They're directed towards metal musicians of all varieties (as well as heavy hitters). They really impressed me - most thicker cymbals sound... well, thick. These on the other hand share many of the characteristics that I love about a cymbal with a more medium or light weight, but still hold a true, crisp, metal sound. In other words - their durability is impeccable and they sound great. You'll definitely see me mixing some of them in with my 'normal' cymbal setup, as well as playing with them live.

17" Classics Custom Extreme Metal Crash

Eventually, I'll upload the videos for these three tunes from this session in their entirety.
Please keep in mind that this is a promotional video and in addition to hearing the cymbals the point is to teach you about the product (hence the on-screen text).
