It's the morning of the 10/07/15 and I am dressed as a Japanese/Cuban tourist from the 50s, (it's NY and I actually got an invite to Havana from a elderly Cuban artist at MOMA later that day wearing this get up). I have just walked from attending the City Hall World Cup celebrations, to One World Trade Center. An event you too can attend with me thru augmented memory using VR headsets. Last time I was here was two years ago , the museum and WTO were still being completed, chatting to a security guard who turned out to be be the son of someone I met 23 years ago in the Windows on the World Restaraunt . His father was the person who gave (a teenage) me a suit jacket in order that I could spend the evening in the restaraunt. Dress code still required a tie, for that we went back down 101 floors and outside the tower was a guy selling ties for a dollar, went back up and now with suit jacket and ties spent the entire day/evening up there. That was 1993... I always come back to this place, not just for the memories or for the architecture, but never thought I would return and be able to capture hundreds of people and myself walking round in VR video....and using AR ...to recall the past... This is the first in a series of VR and AR videos/photographs of the WTO and the Twin Tower memorial, the 9/11 museum and WTO observatory. New York's resilience, significance and power as a symbol of democracy, freedom and how all the different races and faiths of the world do work together is evidenced by the names you can see etched into the memorial, as great as if not greater than the classic 70s symbols of freedom that the Twin Towers were across the world.. still are ...and will remain This is just the beginning of how we will record and augment memories of attending places of significance the first step is learning to capture VR video, but we can go far beyond looking at /capturing the present and augment the whole experience to educate, share, pay respect to, remember and keep alive their significance. Even when their physical presence is gone, future generations can and will share their VR presence...
