City of Arabia is a spectacular multibillion US$ retail, residential, commercial and entertainment destination lying at the gateway to Dubailand.
With business and administrative offices, schools and clinics, supported by luxury apartments, shops, galleries, restaurants and unique attractions, City of Arabia will become a key destination and urban community within the new Dubai. The project will have a phased opening starting towards the end of 2011.
Its four key elements are Mall of Arabia, one of the world's largest malls; Restless Planet, a US$1 billion theme park, earth science museum and planetarium; Wadi Walk, a water front community with stylish apartments, outdoor cafes and attractive retail outlets; and Elite Towers, a group of 34 impressive commercial and residential buildings.
A self-contained community designed to minimise the use of cars, City of Arabia will be served by its own monorail system which will transport residents and visitors to and from a designated Dubai Metro station and around the site.
With a total of 8,200 residential components, City of Arabia will, on completion, have 32,800 residents and a catchment area containing 1.87 million people.

Once finished the shopping mall will be larger than nearly any other in the world. It is difficult to say that a mall is the "largest mall" because there are various ways to measure this: sqaure footage, number of stores, size of building etc.
The leader of Dubai, Sheik Mohammad bin Rashid al Maktoum is one of the great visionaries of today. Under his leadership, as well as his family's, Dubai has grown from a small out of the way city to an international business and tourism center.
Dubai is one illustration of the changing face of the Gulf and the Arab world and the Middle East as a whole. Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as well as other areas in the UAE such as Abu Dhabi are all undergoing a similar transformation.

A look at Ancient Civilizations in Ancient Persia and Arabian Peninsula. During the 4th century B.C., the great Persian civilization, which was the first multiethnic empire in history, reached its peak. In this episode, we’ll tour the grand residences at Persepolis, and the imperial palaces of the omnipotent Darius – a sumptuous building complex for the most powerful man in the world of that era.
Part 2 starts at 26:33 and looks at the Arabian Peninsula. From the Arabian Peninsula, we follow an ancient caravan route through the desert to Syria. ; Along the way, several lush oases in the otherwise barren Syrian desert come to our rescue in the form of Marib and Petra, cite of the great tomb of Aaron that is carved out of a rock face, along with the beautiful city of Palmyra in Syria.
Ancient Civilizations offers a comparative analysis of the field, including both old world and new civilizations, and explores the connections between all civilizations around the earth.The volume provides a jargon-free introduction to ancient civilizations from the first civilizations, and the great powers in the Near East, to the first Aegean civilizations, the Mediterranean world in the first millennium, Imperial Rome, northeast Africa, divine kings in southeast Asia, and empires in East Asia, as well as early states in the Americas and Andean civilization.For those interested in ancient civilizations.
Today’s civilizations owe an immense debt to the powerful empires and mighty cities of antiquity. Their inventions, techniques and concepts enabled the advancement of humankind and lay the foundation for life in the modern world.
Explore Ancient History, including videos, pictures, and articles on cultures such as Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and more.

Living in Riyadh: Overview
Don't let the descent fool you. Flying across the Najd desert plateau, one would be forgiven for wondering, why here? The climate is dry, and dust storms can kick up a blinding fit. Closer in, however, and you'll soon see date palms and shrubs spotting the landscape. The name Riyadh, in fact, comes from the Arabic for gardens (rowdah), and lies atop an area where several underground riverbeds co

Jeddah is the second largest city of Saudi Arabia. Located at the Red Sea and being the most important starting point for the hadj it has a more international atmosphere than Riyadh and is therefore more liberal. The video clip shows impressions of the city.

This week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Not your average sea-side experience!
Guided by my excellent Couchsurfing host, Mohammed, we set off on our 2 wheeled exploration of Jeddah starting at the airport and ending up several hours later at my hotel. After a power nap, it was off to see what the city had to offer at night. Dont even THINK about riding here in the summer - you will fry like an egg. This is 'winter' and its 30c.

The Republic Of Yemen: there is almost no other country on Earth that possesses as many secrets and ancient legends as the Arabia Felix and the Bab Al Yemen, the gateway to the Yemen, is the entrance to the historic district of Sanaa, the Yemen’s capital city that it is believed to date back to the third century A.D. Women are rarely to be seen in Yemen’s marketplaces and, when they are, they are hidden from male glances by a protective veil. Islam still plays an important role in the daily cultural life of the people, including the traditional market places that are almost exclusively a male domain. The Republic Of Yemen covers a large part of the southwest of the Arabian Peninsula and contains several fascinating historical sites. East of Sanaa on the ancient Frankincense route, is the town of Marib that was once the residence of the legendary Queen Of Saba and in the extreme north is the town of Sadah, a region known for its powerful tribes. In the centre of the Djebel Harraz is the picturesque mountain village of Manakhah. Due to its location it was once a strategic point on the ancient trading route between the sea and the highlands. The breathtaking architecture of its buildings still testifies to the former prosperity of a village that today is well known for its popular market. Al Hudaydah was once the most important Turkish harbour on the Red Sea. The city was a commercial rival of the British occupied city of Aden to the south which, during colonial times, was of great importance in securing a sea route to India. In addition to the recent modernisation of the harbour the fishing industry still plays an important role and the fertile coastal waters of the Red Sea still ensure a good catch. To the south of Al Hudaydah is the legendary old harbour of Al Mokha, the former centre of the country’s coffee trade from which the world renowned Mocha coffee derived its name. Despite their present poverty the people here are a proud race and the ancient name of the Yemen, Arabia Felix, or “Arabia The Content”, is still a thing of the present.

Come to Dubai, the ancient City of Gold, for your next vacation.
Modernity and antiquity collide in this vibrant city. Shop at the same spice market locals have been visiting for generations, then visit the stores in the Gold Souk, a jewelry-centered traditional marketplace. For a more modern shopping experience, go to the Dubai Mall, home to over 1200 stores, an underwater zoo, and KidZania®, a “city” where children can roleplay various careers.
To soak up some of the legendary Dubai sunshine, simply step outside. Take in the view of the city from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Continue your Dubai tour by wandering through the exotic buildings and resorts, or visit some of the public beaches. If you’d like to try something a little different and don’t mind paying a small fee, you can also attend local hotel beaches even if you aren’t staying there.
You can’t finish your Dubai sightseeing without a trip into the desert itself. Ride a camel, go sandboarding, or just stand out on the dunes and marvel at the beauty of it all.

Travel video about destination Sultanate of Oman.
The Sultanate Of Oman is a fabulous land full of surprises, a splendid example of original Arabia from the Straits Of Hormuz to the southern Dhofar. Up until the 1970’s the third largest country in the Arabian Peninsula was only accessible by various caravan routes. It has an abundance of mysterious desert towns and splendid palaces. Our journey begins on the northern coast of the Gulf Of Oman.The white city of Sohar is the historic harbour of the Islamic world and the ‘Gateway To China’. Sinbad the Sailor is said to have lived there in the 8th century and after he spent his father’s inheritance it is believed that he travelled to Baghdad to seek his fortune there. The city is still guarded by the white Sohar Fort, a mighty four storey building that dates back to the 14th century. The Nakhl Fortress is located on a rock at the foot of the mountain of the same name, Jebel Nakhl. Both walls and rock form a complete architectural whole. Nakhl is the home of the Ya´Aruba Tribe that came into power in 1624 and ruled over Oman for a hundred and twenty years. Until the 12th century Nizwa was the capital of the Desert State of Oman. Even today this oasis city and trading metropolis has lost none of its former importance and the former residential complex of the massive fortress is open to the public. The fortress once fulfilled an important role in protecting the country’s interior and now its lavish and well-restored rooms radiate tranquillity. The mighty Jabrin Fort is one of the most beautiful castles of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, formerly the famous ‘Land Of Incense’. Its massive, towering and eye-catching pewter walls date back to the 17th century. Until the middle of the twentieth century Abri had the reputation of being a centre for highwaymen and robbers, favoured for its good strategic location. The booty that came from plundered caravans and the settlements of various tribes was sold at auction in the souk: adventure straight from the pages of an Arabian fairy-tale! The Sultanate Of Oman is a treasure trove of rarities. Its twelve thousand year old history is visible throughout the entire country and the beauty of the mysterious Arabian Peninsula is a truly captivating experience.

The Sultanate Of Oman is a fabulous land full of surprises, a splendid example of original Arabia that extends from the Straits Of Hormuz to the southern Dhofar. Up until the 1970’s the third largest country in the Arabian Peninsula was only accessible by various caravan routes but today it boasts an abundance of mysterious desert towns and splendid palaces.The white city of Sohar is the historic harbour of the Islamic world and the ‘Gateway To China’. It is still guarded by the white Sohar Fort, a mighty four-storey structure that dates back to the 14th century. The Hajar Mountains extend for almost six hundred kilometres from the Musandam Peninsula in the north to its eastern sections. They are also known as the Oman Mountains and divide the coast from the inland. Oman covers around three hundred thousand square kilometres and is one of the most sparsely settled countries in the world with only one and a half million inhabitants. Nizwa, the religious center of the Omans, has a moving past that manifests itself in the city’s defensive fortress. Until the 12th century it was the capital of the Desert State of Oman. Even today this oasis city and trading metropolis has lost none of its former importance. Al-Hamra is the name of a three hundred year old oasis village that dates back to the reign of Imam Saif Bin Sultan. At the end of the 17th century members of the Abriyin Tribe settled here the descendants of whom still live in the Jebal-Akhdar Mountains. Al-Hamra means ‘The Red One’, an Arabic name that is also to be found in the word ‘Alhambra’, in Spain’s Granada. The Sultanate Of Oman is a treasure trove of rarities. Mecca, the holiest city in Islam is only 70 km from Jeddah where I was staying for a few weeks. Mecca is where Prophet Mohammed was born and where the Quoran was composed.
I was surprised to see that Mecca was actually a big city, in my mind, I always thought that it was a small holy place with the Kabaa.
The Kabaa is a cubical shaped building, covered with a beautiful black cloth embroidered with gold Quranic verses.
All Muslims around the world face the Kaaba during prayers, no matter where they are
When performing piligrimage, Muslims walk around the Kaaba 7 times while reciting verses. When reaching the spot of the Black Stone (in the eastern corner of the kabaa), the piligrims salute it. It is believed that this stone fell from Heaven.
the piligrims also drink ZamZam water, the holy water that was revealed to Hagar, Abraham's wife, when she desperately was looking for water in the desert.
The mosque within the Kabaa location is beautiful. Its arches interlace in an infinite design.
More than 15 million Muslims visit Mecca every year and I was amazed how clean and spotless it was!
The prayer call has began, I'll let you listen to it....

The prayer call has began, I'll let you listen to it....

Along the Rio Guadalquivir is Córdoba. Today the former caliph’s residence of the Omaiyad is a lively city with an historic past. In 152 B.C. the town was founded during the rule of Claudius Marcellu and it was then that the Roman conquerors named it Corduba. Later the town became the capital of the province of Baetica, the hot southern region of Spain. At the beginning of the 8th century the town was the headquarters of its recent conquerors, Arabian governors and emirs and even today the architectural influence of the Moors is visible. In the 10th century A.D. the town reached the zenith of its prosperity. It is believed that almost a million people once lived in the ‘Mecca of the West’. The Great Mosque, today's Mezquita, was extended and enlarged during that time. Marble, jaspis and granite columns decorate the beautiful interior of the mosque that contains eight hundred columns. The old city of Granada extends across three hills, Sacromonte, the world famous Alhambra and Abaicín, a once densely populated Moorish district with almost thirty mosques. For several centuries around sixy thousand Moors brought the city’s maze of alleys to life but only a few of the historic Islamic buildings and mosques have survived. Seville is today’s pulsating capital of Andalucia and is still strongly influenced by the brilliant architectural achievements of the Moors. In former times the Real Alcázar was the residence of the region’s Arabic rulers but most of its buildings were constructed during the reign of Peter The Cruel. Casa De Pilatos is one of the most beautiful palatial buildings in Seville. The residence of the Dukes of Medinacelli was built between 1492 and 1520 following a pilgrimage by one of the dukes to the Holy Land. On his return journey, following the same route that the first Marqués of Tarifa took through Italy, he brought back several valuable columns and fountains made of carrara marble that today adorn the beautiful exterior and gardens of the residence. The shoreline of the Guadalquivir River in the land of flamenco is full of life and joie de vivre. The true heart of Spain surely lies in Andalusia in the hot southern region of the Iberian Peninsula.

Morocco is a North African country that has a coastline on both the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It has borders with Western Sahara to the south, Algeria to the east and the Spanish North African territories of Ceuta and Melilla on the Mediterranean coast in the north. It is just across the Strait of Gibraltar from Gibraltar.
See in Morocco
==================
At just a few hours from the main European cities, Morocco has everything to overwhelm you with the amazing colors, smells and sounds of Islamic Africa. Imagine bustling souqs and spice markets, stunning mosques, white-washed sea side towns and medieval city centres. With panoramic views varying from snow-covered peaks in the High Atlas to the endless sand dunes of the Sahara, no-one ever has to be bored in this beautiful country.
Movie-famous Casablanca might be the most famous of Moroccan cities and is home to the huge Hassan II mosque, the second largest mosque in the world with only the Grand Mosque of Mecca surpassing it. Many travellers quickly leave this vibrant and modernist metropolis on a search for a more traditional Moroccan experience, but admiring the impressive colonial architecture, Hispano-Moorish and art-deco outlook of the city centre is actually time well spent. Marrakesh, known as the "Red City" and probably the most prominent former imperial capital, will leave you with memories to cherish for life. Spend your days wandering through the lively souqs, admiring the old gates and defensive walls, see the Saadian Tombs, the remnants of the El Badi Palace and visit the Koutoubia Mosque with its 12th century minaret. However, when evening falls make sure to head back to Jamaa el-Fnaa, the largest square in Africa, as it fills up with steam-producing food stalls. Indulge in the bustling activity there, listen to Arabic story tellers, watch magicians and Chleuh dancers. Fez, once Morocco's capital, is another gorgeous imperial city. Get lost in its lovely labyrinth of narrow Medieval streets, enjoy its huge medina, see the beautiful city gates, the ancient University of Al-Karaouine and the Bou Inania Madrasa. Also, make sure to visit a traditional leather tanning factory. The city of Meknes is often called the "Versailles of Morocco" for its beauty. Its lovely Spanish-Moorish style centre is surrounded by tall city walls with impressive gates and you'll be able to see the 17th century blend of European and Islamic cultures even today.
For a more laid-back experience of city life, catch a sea breeze at Asilah or lovely Essaouira. The blue-washed town of Chefchaouen is an old time travellers' favourite and a great starting point to explore the impressive High Atlas Mountains. Climb Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North-Africa, passing lovely adobe villages and exploring the gorgeous Ourika and Amizmiz valleys on the way. The stunning panoramic view from the top will make it worth every bit of your effort to get there. Other praised hiking routes lead through the beautiful Ameln Valley in the Anti-Atlas and the wooded Rif Mountains in the very north.
Hop on a camel back for a trip through the golden Sahara sand dunes at Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga. Spend the night in a desert tent, under the incredibly starred sky. The Sahara is also accessible near the town of Zagora; it's easier to get to from Marrakech but doesn't have the imposing dunes of Erg Chebbi. Somewhat less easy to reach but therefor also less crowded are the dunes of Erg Chigaga near M'hamid. On your way to the desert, make sure not to miss the stunning Todra gorge near Tinghir. The ancient fortified city of Aït-Benhaddou is another must-see sight. Although rainstorms damage the mud-brick kasbahs time and again, this mostly abandoned village remains an impressive sight and has been the decor for a range of movies, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.

Hammams
========
There are two types of Hammam (steam baths) across Morocco.
The first is the tourist hammam, where you can go and be pampered and scrubbed by an experienced staff member. As these are promoted only to tourists they are the more expensive option with pricing usually around DH 150 for a hammam. They can not be technically referred to as a proper hammam, but they are nonetheless enjoyable, especially for the timid. Your hotel can recommend a good one.
The second option is to visit a "popular" Hammam. Popular hammams are the places where the locals go. Ask the staff at your hotel where they would go.

Saudi Arabia (Listeni/ˌsaʊdi əˈreɪbi.ə/ or Listeni/ˌsɔːdiː əˈreɪbi.ə/; Arabic: السعودية as-Su'ūdiyyah or as-Sa'ūdiyyah), officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Arabic: المملكة العربية السعودية al-Mamlakah al-'Arabiyyah as-Su'ūdiyyah, About this sound Arabic pronunciation (help·info)), is the largest Arab state in Western Asia by land area (approximately 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi), constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula) and the second-largest in the Arab world (after Algeria). It is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, Yemen in the south, the Red Sea to the west and Persian Gulf to the east. Its population is estimated to consist of 16 million citizens and an additional 9 million registered foreign expatriates and 2 million illegal immigrants.[11]
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud (known for most of his career as Ibn Saud) in 1932, although the conquests which eventually led to the creation of the Kingdom began in 1902 when he captured Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud, referred to in Arabic as Al Saud. The regime has been an absolute monarchy since its inception. It describes itself as being Islamic and is highly influenced by Wahhabism.[12] Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam.
Saudi Arabia has the world's 2nd largest oil reserves, which are concentrated largely in the Eastern Province.[13][14] Oil accounts for more than 95% of exports and 70% of government revenue, although the share of the non-oil economy has been growing recently. This has facilitated the transformation of an underdeveloped desert kingdom into one of the world's wealthiest nations. Vast oil revenues have permitted rapid modernisation, such as the creation of a welfare state.[15] It has also the world's sixth largest natural gas reserves. Don't let the descent fool you. Flying across the Najd desert plateau, one would be forgiven for wondering, why here? The climate is dry, and dust storms can kick up a blinding fit. Closer in, however, and you'll soon see date palms and shrubs spotting the landscape. The name Riyadh, in fact, comes from the Arabic for gardens (rowdah), and lies atop an area where several underground riverbeds converge, resulting in a natural oasis that has long drawn traders and nomads alike. In much the same vein, expat life in Riyadh can sometimes be judged too soon and too bluntly. Although it's true that most foreigners are grounded in compound existence, this is still a city of over five million inhabitants, with all the complexity that that implies. From gold markets to desert camping to luxury like you've never seen it, Riyadh's got plenty to discover. Let Move One's video be your first step in your journey to ar-Riyadh.

==================

Hammams
========

Quantum Method Realization Course
All of us would like to become Superman, or Insan-E-Kamel. We would like to transform suffering into joy, disease into health, and scarcity into prosperity.
But very few of us know the natural law for creating spontaneous torrents of joy or creating a truly prosperous life.
We want to be one with God, Allah, the Creator, or the Universal Life Force and surrender to Him. We want to pray, worship, or ibadat with devotion but we cannot.
Yet throughout history, there have been prophets, rishis, sufis, monks and holy-men who were indeed supermen. They found the secret to ending suffering and creating lasting joy. With them, those suffering found relief, those lacking found prosperity, and those diseased found health. Often, pain evaporated with a single touch of their hands.
The superhuman-like power of rishis and bujuhurgs was attained through a long strenuous process of spiritual pursuit. By surrendering to this process, they transformed every prayer into a union with God, and felt God deep within their own existence.
You too can progress on this path. Like them, you can attain the power to heal, have insights and extrasensory powers. Your prayer can become a union with God, and you can feel the presence of God within your existence. And you do not need to leave your family and job or live in seclusion to do this. Some regular practices or amal will help you progress along this path even while you continue to function fully in the material world.
