Claude Challe

Claude Challe (born Claude Chalom in 1945 in Tunisia) is a French DJ and club owner, the creator of the Buddha Bar restaurant/clubs and music compilations.

Challe moved to France at age three. He attended Rabbinical school as a young man. At the age of 19, he opened a hair salon in Paris, and became known as "the man with the golden scissors".

Challe then abandoned the salon and lived as an expatriate on the island of Sardinia, in a hippie commune. He subsequently traveled to India, Nepal and Indonesia. He uses Buddha statues for the interior design of his bar and restaurant.

Challe returned to France and was introduced to new-age music by the likes of Andreas Vollenweider and Ennio Morricone. He became involved in Parisian nightlife. He managed a series of French clubs, including Le Prive (1974), Le Centre Ville in Les Halles (1979), Les Bains-Douches (1984), El Divino in Ibiza (1992), and Buddha Bar (1996). The restaurant/club became a popular destination and led to Challe's Buddha Bar mix compilations.

Matteo Brancaleoni

Matteo Brancaleoni (born May 31, 1981 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian contemporary pop/jazz singer, actor and journalist.

Biography

Appreciated by Michael Bublè with whom he duetted live in Rome in 2007 during Bublè’s concert, Matteo Brancaleoni is an Italian jazz singer, interpreter of the American ‘Songbook’. He is also among the ten best jazz singers in the Italian poll of 2011 voted by the readers of "Jazzit" magazine. His Live Shows at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Milan have produced a 5 Sold Out Nights. Over the years he collaborated, among others, with jazz musicians Franco Cerri, Renato Sellani, Gianni Basso and Fabrizio Bosso. The magazine Jazz Hot compared him to his idol, Frank Sinatra. He was awarded in 2008 as Best New Talent at the Elba Jazz Festival. His debut album "Just Smile" and his second album "Live In Studio" were well received by audiences and critics nationally and internationally. His record "Live in studio" was for two weeks, the best selling jazz album on iTunes and for six months his Live performances were listed in the live recommended section by the Apple Store. His last album "New Life" was conceived from the encounter with the Roman writer and arranger Nerio Poggi (aka Papik), already a writing partner for Mario Biondi in his last two albums. Although filled with jazzy atmospheres "New Life" is also a classic blend of 6 great classics and 5 new original songs arranged with different moods and styles. Journalist, member of IJJA (International Jazz Journalist Association), the IFJ(International Federation of Journalists), he wrote Jazz Magazine and Millionaire. President for two years of the Rotaract Club "Alba Langhe e Roero" (2009–2010) is a member of the Rotary Club of Alba.

Marco Armani

Marco Armani, stage name of Marco Antonio Armenise (born 14 June 1961), is an Italian singer-songwriter and composer.

Background

Born in Bari, while still being a student at the conservatory of his hometown, in 1982 Armani debuted as a singer participating at the RAI musical contest Azzurro. In 1983 he entered the competition at the Sanremo Music Festival, where he ranked tenth with the song "E' la vita". He then participated at the Sanremo Festival four more times, between 1984 and 1994. His most successful song is "Solo con l'anima mia", which ranked #25 on the Italian hit parade.

Marco Mengoni

Marco Mengoni (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmarko meŋˈɡoːni]; born 25 December 1988) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He rose to fame in 2009, after winning the third series of Italian talent show X Factor. His debut extended play, Dove si vola, was preceded by the single with the same title, which reached the top spot of the Italian Top Digital Downloads chart and also served as his coronation song.

In February 2010, Mengoni competed in the 60th Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Credimi ancora", placing third in a field of fifteen. The song was included in his second extended play, Re matto, which debuted at number one in Italy. The EP was promoted through an Italian tour, which yielded the live album Re matto live.

Mengoni's first full-length studio album, Solo 2.0, was released in September 2010, and it was certified gold by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry. In 2013, Mengoni won the 63rd Sanremo Music Festival with his song "L'essenziale". During the competition he was internally selected by RAI to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, where he performed "L'essenziale". The song also became the lead single of the album #prontoacorrere, which became his fourth number-one on the Italian Albums Chart.
