THIS IS MY VERY FIRST CRACK AT MOVIE EDITING. I have taken all of the bits from the Hans Keller interview that consist of just Syd Barrett's (very lovely) moments. I put together this short sweet bit and I dedicate it to that beautiful, late, great PIPER, MADCAP, MUSICIAN, ARTIST, POET, DREAMER, LOVER & TRULY BEAUTIFUL SOUL. As of this writing, it has been 6 years since you've emerged from your chrysalis as a butterfly into the next world. May you finally be free from your foibles and be your former "Happy Piper" self again. I know not everyone believes in that sort of thing but I respect their right to not believe. That said, I put together this short little bit of footage of the Sydster. SHINE ON!

Best known as guitarist, vocalist and writer with Pink Floyd, David Gilmour is also renowned for his solo work and collaborations with other artists including Kate Bush, Paul McCartney and Pete Townshend. David assumed control of Pink Floyd in 1985, after Roger Waters’ departure, creating the new Floyd album A Momentary Lapse of Reason with Nick Mason and Rick Wright, with The Division Bell following in 1994. Pink Floyd were inducted into the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, followed by the same honour in the UK in November 2005; in 2005 David Gilmour was made a CBE for services to music. David’s new album Rattle That Lock was released worldwide on September 18, 2015.

Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett (6 January 1946 – 7 July 2006), was an English singer-songwriter, guitarist and painter, best remembered as a founder member of the band Pink Floyd. He was the lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter during the band's psychedelic years, providing major musical and stylistic direction in their early work, including their name. He left the group in 1968 amid speculations of mental illness exacerbated by drug use, and was briefly hospitalised.
Besides being a pioneer in psychedelic rock with his expressive guitar playing and imaginative compositions, Barrett was also a pioneer in the space rock and psychedelic folk genres. He was active in music for only about seven years, recording four singles, the debut album (and contributed to the second one), plus several unreleased songs with Pink Floyd; and a single and two albums (plus a third one of unreleased tracks/alternate takes), as a solo musician, before going into self-imposed seclusion lasting more than thirty years.

David Jon Gilmour,CBE (born 6 March 1946) is an English rock musician and multi-instrumentalist who is best known as the guitarist, one of the lead singers and main songwriters in the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is estimated that as of 2010, the group have sold over 250 million records worldwide, including 74.5 million units sold in the United States.
In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Gilmour has worked as a producer for a variety of artists, and has enjoyed a successful career as a solo artist. Gilmour has been actively involved with many charities over the course of his career.
In 2003, he was appointed CBE for his charity work and was awarded with the Outstanding Contribution title at the 2008 Q Awards. In 2011, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him number 14 in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Gilmour was born in Cambridge, England. His father, Douglas Gilmour, was a senior lecturer in zoology at the University of Cambridge and his mother, Sylvia (née Wilson), was a teacher and film editor who raised her family at Grantchester Meadows, later immortalised by a Roger Waters song on Pink Floyd's Ummagumma. He has a younger brother who is also a musician.

The Twilight World of Syd Barrett was broadcast by BBC Radio 4 back in June 2011. The programme features one of the last recorded interviews with Rick Wright, appearances from Peter Jenner, David Gilmour and Nick Mason. "There's also a rare chance to hear Syd's sister Rosemary talking about his life after his return to Cambridge. Hope you enjoy it." Peter Marsh, BBC BBC 4: Six years after his death (7th July 2006) Syd Barrett lives on freeze framed, still young and a striking lost soul of the sixties whose brief moment of creativity outshines those long years of solitude shut away in a terraced house in his home town of Cambridge. This revealing programme hears how his band Pink Floyd (and family) coped with Barrett's mental breakdown and explores the hurriedly arranged holiday to the Spanish island of Formentera - where the star unravelled. In the programme we also hear about Barrett's pioneering brand of English psychedelic pop typified on early Pink Floyd recordings 'Arnold Layne', 'See Emily Play' and the strange songs on Pink Floyd's impressive debut album 'The Piper At the Gates of Dawn'. Undoubtedly Barrett's experimentation with the drug LSD affected him mentally and the band members reveal how concerned they were when he began to go catatonic on-stage, playing music that had little to do with their material, or not playing at all. By Spring 1968 Barrett was out of the group and after a brief period of hibernation, he re-emerged in 1970 with a pair of albums, 'The Madcap Laughs' and 'Barrett', but they failed to chart and Barrett retired to a hermit life existing under the watchful gaze of his caring sister Rosemary (featured in the programme). We hear from David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright (one of the last interviews before his sad passing) about how there was little understanding of mental illness when it came to the drug fused culture of the time. These days a strung out star is hurriedly booked into the Priory and given counselling. As this programme reveals Barrett's mental breakdown was not understood and the steps taken to help him were inappropriate and still rankle the members of Pink Floyd today. THIS IS MY VERY FIRST CRACK AT MOVIE EDITING. I have taken all of the bits from the Hans Keller interview that consist of just Syd Barrett's (very lovely) moments. I put together this short sweet bit and I dedicate it to that beautiful, late, great PIPER, MADCAP, MUSICIAN, ARTIST, POET, DREAMER, LOVER & TRULY BEAUTIFUL SOUL. As of this writing, it has been 6 years since you've emerged from your chrysalis as a butterfly into the next world. May you finally be free from your foibles and be your former "Happy Piper" self again. I know not everyone believes in that sort of thing but I respect their right to not believe. Syd Barrett - Baby Lemonade
Another brand new video, this time of Syd Barrett's 'Baby Lemonade' from his second and final solo album, 'Barrett'. 'Baby Lemonade' was written and recorded by Syd Barrett in 1970 and is the opening track on 'Barrett'. Dave Gilmour and along with Richard Wright produced the album, as well as performing guitar, bass, organ and piano on the album. The album takes a different direction away from the erratic style of 'The Madcap Laughs', with 'Barrett' adapting a more commercial sound, due to the influence of Gilmour and Wright. While 'Barrett' is a much more tighter and focused album, it still contains elements of Syd's bizarre nature. I put together this short sweet bit and I dedicate it to that beautiful, late, great PIPER, MADCAP, MUSICIAN, ARTIST, POET, DREAMER, LOVER & TRULY BEAUTIFUL SOUL. As of this writing, it has been 6 years since you've emerged from your chrysalis as a butterfly into the next world. Best known as guitarist, vocalist and writer with Pink Floyd, David Gilmour is also renowned for his solo work and collaborations with other artists including Kate Bush, Paul McCartney and Pete Townshend. David assumed control of Pink Floyd in 1985, after Roger Waters’ departure, creating the new Floyd album A Momentary Lapse of Reason with Nick Mason and Rick Wright, with The Division Bell following in 1994. Pink Floyd were inducted into the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, followed by the same honour in the UK in November 2005; in 2005 David Gilmour was made a CBE for services to music. David’s new album Rattle That Lock was released worldwide on September 18, 2015.

Undoubtedly Barrett's experimentation with the drug LSD affected him mentally and the band members reveal how concerned they were when he began to go catatonic on-stage, playing music that had little to do with their material, or not playing at all. By Spring 1968 Barrett was out of the group and after a brief period of hibernation, he re-emerged in 1970 with a pair of albums, 'The Madcap Laughs' and 'Barrett', but they failed to chart and Barrett retired to a hermit life existing under the watchful gaze of his caring sister Rosemary (featured in the programme).
We hear from David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright (one of the last interviews before his sad passing) about how there was little understanding of mental illness when it came to the drug fused culture of the time. These days a strung out star is hurriedly booked into the Priory and given counselling. As this programme reveals Barrett's mental breakdown was not understood and the steps taken to help him were inappropriate and still rankle the members of Pink Floyd today.

'Baby Lemonade' was written and recorded by Syd Barrett in 1970 and is the opening track on 'Barrett'. Dave Gilmour and along with Richard Wright produced the album, as well as performing guitar, bass, organ and piano on the album. The album takes a different direction away from the erratic style of 'The Madcap Laughs', with 'Barrett' adapting a more commercial sound, due to the influence of Gilmour and Wright. While 'Barrett' is a much more tighter and focused album, it still contains elements of Syd's bizarre nature.
The recording took less time to produce than 'The Madcap Laughs', and the final album was released in November 1970. Unfortunately, the album sparked no interest and failed to chart. Between 1971 and 1974, Syd Barrett attempted several music projects, including a band in 1972 called 'Stars'. The band was short-lived after only three live performances. In 1974, Syd Barrett recorded for the last time, recording only a few instrumentals before walking away from music forever.

"Astronomy Domine" is the first track on the LP that started it all for Pink Floyd, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, released in 1967. This is a synchronization of that legendary track with the equally legendary music video made for TV in 1967, with Syd Barrett singing lead vocal and playing lead guitar. This appears to be a rare, complete film clip because I have only seen a small section of this same performance on a few other YouTube videos mixed in with a small section of a video of "Pow R. Toch H." Most other live versions are either a later live version with Syd in '67 (with audience participation) or else with David Gilmour from 1968 or 1970. VERY RARE LIVE RECORDING FROM SYD BARRETT FROM 1970! PLEASE COMMENT, LIKE, ADD TO PLAYLIST AND FAVOURITES! I think this is the only live recording with Syd solo. The sound quality is not very good, but it is good enough that you may hear the music. It was June 6th 1970 in Olympia Exhibition Hall in London. I don't think the recording is the complete concert, but this is all that is on the recording at least. I have made the video myself, using pictures of Syd and his great paintings and drawings. Besides being a musical legend, Syd was also a great painter. That was his main interest (after music). Before he started with music, he was very interrested in drawing. Just something simple for people to put on their MySpaces, etc. This is the version from the old VHS tape of Pulse (which IMHO had much better camera angles than the new DVD). The beginning and one verse from the middle (at 6:13) had to be edited out to fit it into YouTube's 10 min. requirement. But the whole movie they showed at the concert is here since it's probably supposed to represent Syd's life (or anybody's).... This is from Earl's Court, London in October of 1994. This version from this VHS tape shows a lot more of the concept film on the screen than the DVD version (also on YouTube). -

Just something simple for people to put on their MySpaces, etc. This is the version from the old VHS tape of Pulse (which IMHO had much better camera angles than the new DVD). The beginning and one verse from the middle (at 6:13) had to be edited out to fit it into YouTube's 10 min. requirement. But the whole movie they showed at the concert is here since it's probably supposed to represent Syd's life (or anybody's)....
This is from Earl's Court, London in October of 1994.
This version from this VHS tape shows a lot more of the concept film on the screen than the DVD version (also on YouTube).

As a great admirer of outtakes not publicly released from Syd Barrett. I decided to put together the album "Barrett" with just outtakes, following the same song order originally known. It's not an attempt to overcome neither compare the great work of art that was published (Barrett - 1970), but a version for the way we listen to art that we admire so much. I know I'm not the only one who admires it so then decided to publish and share this with you, hope you enjoy.
Unfortunately I could not find any different version of the Wolfpack, even outtakes. So I used the original version.

The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) Toronto, Canada. Probably recorded in London? Early 1967? The interviewer relishing in "Hip" speak of the time. Syd & Nick just speak as they've always done and very clear indeed. Roger weighs in with his intuitive verbals. The intro is by Nicky Horne so this was dug up from the vaults as he was a London Radio DJ (Capital Radio) Re. "Your Mother Wouldn't Like It", mid-seventies onwards. He doorstepped Syd in the Eighties and Syd told him to F Off (Go and bother Peter Green). Or some other story.....Whatever? Nicky is also a Bowie fan and did three or four radio shows interviewing David in 1977/1978/1979 and in 1997. The gist of the last one being face creams and internet chat rooms (early days). He DJ'd the "Bowie Convention" in London in 1983. ...

The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) Toronto, Canada. Probably recorded in London? Early 1967? The interviewer relishing in "Hip" speak of the time. Syd & Nick just speak as they've always done and very clear indeed. Roger weighs in with his intuitive verbals.
The intro is by Nicky Horne so this was dug up from the vaults as he was a London Radio DJ (Capital Radio) Re. "Your Mother Wouldn't Like It", mid-seventies onwards. He doorstepped Syd in the Eighties and Syd told him to F Off (Go and bother Peter Green). Or some other story.....Whatever? Nicky is also a Bowie fan and did three or four radio shows interviewing David in 1977/1978/1979 and in 1997. The gist of the last one being face creams and internet chat rooms (early days). He DJ'd the "Bowie Convention" in London in 1983. He is also a talker on that footy game with grids on the turf...Oh, American Football. Strange that 'cause Bowie was known as the Limey Kid who digs American football, when he was 10 years old. Picked up by the media that one, apparently.
This CBC interview has been up on Bootlegs for a few years and on dodgy cassettes. It's of interest because of the version of "Intersteller Overdrive" contained therein. CBC Toronto are`a cool network I'd imagine as they broadcast in many languages(many different Aboriginal dialectsas well).
In a frenetic haze of sound and sight..... this music here and now is that of the Pink Floyd.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) engaged the help of professional hackers to find at least one software flaw to break into an iPhone used by one of the terrorists responsible for the Dec. 2 San Bernardino terrorist attacks, the Washington Post reported. Two Russian fighter jets have made “simulated attack” passes near a US navy guided missile destroyer in the Baltic Sea, says a US official. The incident took place on April 11, when USS Donald Cook was confronted by two Sukhoi SU-24 warplanes in international waters off Russia, a senior military official told CBS News on Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity ...
