On June 25th 2012 we mounted a camera inside our car and drove The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. The sights on this trail are really something! Sped up and mixed with music made by my talented friend Anthony Jarrett, check out this time lapse!
Here is some history of the historic road:
The Cabot Trail is a highway and scenic roadway in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
It is located in northern Victoria County and Inverness County on Cape Breton Island.
The route measures 298 km (185 mi) in length and completes a loop around the northern tip of the island, passing along and through the scenic Cape Breton Highlands. It is named after the explorer John Cabot who landed in Atlantic Canada in 1497, although most historians agree his landfall likely took place in Newfoundland and not Cape Breton Island. Construction of the initial route was completed in 1932.
The northern section of the Cabot Trail passes through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The western and eastern sections follow the rugged coastline, providing spectacular views of the ocean. The southwestern section passes through the Margaree River valley before passing along Bras d'Or Lake.

Part 28 of our road trip across Northern Quebec and Eastern Canada. After deboarding the 16 hour ferry from Newfoundland, we drove from North Sydney to Cape Breton Island. We then took two days to enjoy the magnificent ocean views while driving the World Famous Cabot Trail!

I packed up my BMW G650 GS motorcycle on the August Long Weekend and headed for the Cabot Trail. With only 4 days to complete the round trip from Ottawa, ON to Meat Cove, Cape Breton ( the northern most tip of Nova Scotia ) it was a long hard ride. Day one I put on 1000KM making it to Muncton, NB. Day two was an easy 800KM across and up the east cost of the Cabot Trail landing in Meat Cove for the night ( http://www.meatcovecampground.ca/ ). Waking up on day three it was simply a breath taking 800KM down the west coast of the Cabot Trail and back to Muncton, NB. The final day was a backbreaking 13hours and 1000KM back to Ottawa,ON! So many stories, places seen ( as I drove by ), just a beautiful place to be.

At the height of the fall foliage season in 2014, two couples in our Porsche 911 convertibles took a driving tour of Nova Scotia, Canada. The highlight of the trip was zipping along beautiful Cabot Trail in Cape Breton with our cars' tops down in unusually balmy October weather. This condensed video was taken with a GoPro Hero 3+ camera mounted securely by a triple-cup RAM Mount on the outside of the windshield.

On June 25th 2012 we mounted a camera inside our car and drove The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. The sights on this trail are really something! Sped up and mixed with music made by my talented friend Anthony Jarrett, check out this time lapse!
Here is some history of the historic road:
The Cabot Trail is a highway and scenic roadway in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
It is located in northern Victoria County and Inverness County on Cape Breton Island.
The route measures 298 km (185 mi) in length and completes a loop around the northern tip of the island, passing along and through the scenic Cape Breton Highlands. It is named after the explorer John Cabot who landed in Atlantic Canada in 1497, although most historians agree his landfall likely took place in Newfoundland and not Cape Breton Island. Construction of the initial route was completed in 1932.
The northern section of the Cabot Trail passes through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The western and eastern sections follow the rugged coastline, providing spectacular views of the ocean. The southwestern section passes through the Margaree River valley before passing along Bras d'Or Lake.

I packed up my BMW G650 GS motorcycle on the August Long Weekend and headed for the Cabot Trail. With only 4 days to complete the round trip from Ottawa, ON to Meat Cove, Cape Breton ( the northern most tip of Nova Scotia ) it was a long hard ride. Day one I put on 1000KM making it to Muncton, NB. Day two was an easy 800KM across and up the east cost of the Cabot Trail landing in Meat Cove for the night ( http://www.meatcovecampground.ca/ ). Waking up on day three it was simply a breath taking 800KM down the west coast of the Cabot Trail and back to Muncton, NB. The final day was a backbreaking 13hours and 1000KM back to Ottawa,ON! So many stories, places seen ( as I drove by ), just a beautiful place to be.

WOW are we loving the Maritimes, exploring Cape Breton has been nothing short of amazing, the Cabot Trail and all the stops along the way were spectacular and the people are over the top friendly.
Thanks to Daniel Ross from The Cabot Trail Biker who treated us a royal treatment on the trail and in PEI! We went out fishing with his family, caught mackerel and ate the freshest seafood ever, 30 secs from the hook to the BBQ!

With the rain pouring down we are leaving PEI crossing the Confederation Bridge to take us back to New Brunswick. The rain followed us almost all the way to Maine USA.
Next week we ride the Victory Magnum and the Indian Chieftain right into the heart of Time Square, get a VIP tour of the Polaris Plant and party with many cool people at Klock Werks Pre-Sturgis Party!

The adventures continue on as we ride the Cabot Trail with our very own personal tour guide. Met up with friends who hosted us and showed us more roads around Halifax. We take a ferry to Prince Edward Island, for free, where we meet up with more friends.

WOW are we loving the Maritimes, exploring Cape Breton has been nothing short of amazing, the Cabot Trail and all the stops along the way were spectacular and the people are over the top friendly.
Thanks to Daniel Ross from The Cabot Trail Biker who treated us a royal treatment on the trail and in PEI! We went out fishing with his family, caught mackerel and ate the freshest seafood ever, 30 secs from the hook to the BBQ!
