The River Aire is a major river in Yorkshire, England, 71 miles (114 km) in length. Part of the river below Leeds is canalised, and is known as the Aire and Calder Navigation.
The Aire starts its journey at Malham Tarn It becomes a subterranean stream at 'Water Sinks' about 1 mile (1.6 km) before the top of Malham Cove, it then flows underground to Aire Head, just below Malham, in North Yorkshire, and then flows through Gargrave and Skipton. After Cononley, the river enters West Yorkshire where it passes through the former industrial areas of Keighley, Bingley, Saltaire and Shipley. It then passes through Leeds and on to the villages of Swillington and Woodlesford. At Castleford is the confluence of the Aire and Calder; just downstream of the confluence was the ford where the ancient British road, used by the Romans, crossed on its way north to York. The river re-enters North Yorkshire near Knottingley and in its lower reaches forms part of the boundary between North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Steep banking's, barbless hooks and the possibility of a decent fish means you've got to fish heavier elastic's but you lose a few as well.

In this short video, Geoff Druett walks around the city centre pointing out the Town Hall, Civic Hall, Briggate, arcades and the old Cloth Halls. It includes a visit inside the Corn Exchange and ends by the river Aire close-to the Royal Armouries. So, in six minutes you have a comprehensive guide and history to the city! Taking the new IK out for it's first test. I wanted to try surfing, so where better than our local Whitewater park here in Missoula. Yes, I did a bit of swimming but this boat is very different from my other larger Sea Eagle 420x kayak and this is just the first test . Have to say the Force Kayak by Aire is a very advanced IK, but it's performance, and handling is like nothing i've ever seen in a IK, it's nimble, light, and can handle some shit pretty easy. I really like it you can surf, eddy out, go up river, and it handles more like a hardshell, I am very pleased with the quality and performance even on this first test.

Some blokes dredging the River Aire in Leeds near Whitehall Riverside and the Train Station. Looks like they are finally clearing up some flood deluge from the Boxing Day floods. Just before this, they pulled out a beer garden / picnic table that had drifted down the river from somewhere!
