Anne de Vries (May 22, 1904, in Assen – November 29, 1964, in Zeist) was a Dutch teacher and author. In the Netherlands he became particularly famous for his novels. He was married to Alida Gerdina van Wermeskerken, the couple had five children. In 1972, de Vries got national recognition when his novel Bartje was made into a television series by Willy van Hemert. Bartje then became the symbol of the Dutch province Drenthe. De Vries wrote regional novels, most famously the coming-of-age novel "Bartje" and "Bartje seeks happiness". He also wrote Journey Through the Night, a children's book published in four volumes (first in 1951, last in 1958) about World War II. The books on Bartje can be considered Bildungsromans.

Casper De Vries (born June 1, 1964 in Johannesburg) is a South African actor, comedian, entertainer, composer, director, producer and author of sketches famous for his Afrikaans one man shows.

He was born in Pretoria on 1 June 1964 and went on to study drama at the University of Stellenbosch.

His shows are very popular amongst Afrikaans-speaking white South Africans and he even held shows in the London Palladium, where a lot of Afrikaners reside.

His professional career started in 1986 with Hallo Suid-Afrika (Hello South Africa), and has been on-stage year after year until he started performing his one-man shows in 1997 where he started gaining major success. Here is a list of Casper's one man shows:

He wrote, produced and starred in a 3-series comedy variety show, Die Casper Rasper Show (2001–2003) and a soapie-spoof Haak & Steek (2003/04). More recently he became the host of Doen met 'n Miljoen!, the Afrikaans version of Deal or no Deal. In the early 1990s he also hosted an America's Funniest Home Videos-style show called Devries. In 2009 he guest starred in South Africa's longest running soap, Egoli.
