Welcome to Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii. Stationed on the island of Oahu, Honolulu is ready to show you surf and sun like you’ve never seen before. Whether you’re here to live the life of a beach bum or want to explore the city’s lush tropical surroundings, you’ll find everything you’re looking for on your Honolulu tour.
Hawaii had a pretty explosive inception—Diamond Head Crater, also called Leahi, started life as an active volcano. Don’t worry; it’s since gone dormant, which means you can climb to the rim and take in a truly brilliant view of the coast. Head back down to the water and go paddleboarding or swimming; “Honolulu” means “sheltered bay,” and the beachfront here lives up to its name: It’s calm and sheltered year-round.
Honolulu sightseeing must include a day at Pearl Harbor. While there, you can wander the decks of the USS Missouri, explore the confines of the USS Bowfin, and observe a moment of silence at the USS Arizona Memorial.
Head downtown to take in some of Honolulu’s storied history. The statue of King Kamehameha stands guard over the city itself, and you can check out the American Florentine architecture of Iolani Palace. While you’re there, try a Japanese fusion dish or sample from the numerous other eateries lining the city. Stick around as evening falls and you’ll see hula dancers and a breathtaking sunset.

►Read more about Naty's Filipino Food Kitchen here: http://migrationology.com/2015/06/filipino-food-honolulu-natys-kitchen/
Back in 2010, I spent about 2 month in the Philippines, exploring, doing all sorts of things, and eating all sorts of food. The amazing people I met, and the delicious food I ate, contributed to it being a very memorable trip. This time, I didn’t make it back to the Philippines yet (however, I hope to visit soon in the future), but when I was in Honolulu, Hawaii, I came pretty close to the real thing at a restaurant called Naty’s Kitchen at the Maunakea Marketplace in Honolulu.
The Maunakea Marketplace is located right in the heart of Chinatown in Honolulu, and if you walk inside the marketplace, and go to the food court section, it honestly feels like you’ve left Hawaii altogether, and have transported yourself into a market in Manila or somewhere in southeast Asia - it’s my kind of spot. There are a few different types of food to eat at Maunakea Marketplace, including a couple Thai stalls, but by far the dominating cuisine in Filipino food, and there are about 5 different Filipino food stalls to choose from. One of the most well known, and also they offer the most selection of dishes is Naty’s Kitchen. Naty’s Kitchen dishes out all the prepared food and has them all on display in the from cabinet, and you just pick and choose the different dishes that you want, which will then all be piled into a styrofoam container. Typically most customers might get a box with 2 dishes and rice, but I couldn’t resist ordering 3 dishes and then a bowl of sinigang soup on the side.
After getting my rice, I ordered the pork dinuguan, one of the more noticeable Filipino foods of pork and blood made into a stew. Although it might not look the most appealing, and some people even call it chocolate pork, it actually tastes quite amazing. It’s almost like blood sausage without the casing, except it’s much more moist and has a gravy. The taste was very nice, almost with a slight hint of a livery flavor and just a slightly sour flavor as well. At first I was also going to order the pork adobo, which is one of the most well known Filipino foods, but it was made with pork belly and after seeing how oily it was, I asked the Aunty if she had any other recommendations. She pointed to the pork igado, which she said had a similar flavor to adobo, but it was made with a less fatty cut of pork. The igado was excellent, including tender chunks of pork, in a pepper and vinegar sour sauce. Along with my rice, it was very good.
The last dish I got on my plate has always been one of my favorite Filipino foods, a dish called pinakbet, which is a mixture of different vegetables fried up with shrimp paste. It wasn’t overly shrimpy or overly salty, just had an excellent fragrance, and a good mixture of vegetables that went well with all the pork dishes. Also, I couldn’t resist getting an order of pork sinigang. When I was in the Philippines I really enjoyed eating fish sinigang, a sour tamarind soup, but here at Naty’s Kitchen in Honolulu this day, they only had the pork version. The flavor of the soup was very good, but the pork made it a little on the oily side - it was good but I would have preferred the fish version.
Naty’s Kitchen is an excellent and quite authentic restaurant in Hawaii that serves delicious Filipino food.
Naty’s Kitchen - Maunakea Market Place, Chinatown
Open hours: I went there at about 11 am on a weekday and they were open and thriving, but I’m not sure of their exact business hours
Prices: All the food I ate and ordered above cost $11
How to get there: Naty’s Kitchen is located in Chinatown at Maunakea Market Place right in Honolulu, Hawaii. If you can find street parking that’s great, otherwise there is a municipal parking garage nearby.

In this travel video guide to Maui, Hawaii, I travel to Maui and start off by heading to Haleakalā National Park to watch the sunrise from the highest volcano in Maui. On this part of the island, clouds form at the base of the volcano, and as the sun rises, a myriad of colors form and provide an unforgettable visual experience.
Next I throw on a wet suit and hit the waves to learn how to surf --

Honolulu, the capital of the Hawaiian Islands has developed into a lively city. In the heart of the city there’s a statue in honour of King Kamehama The Third who in 1840 moved his government residence from the island of Maui to Honolulu on Oahu, thus unifying the island kingdom. In later years the Victorian Iolani Palace became the new residence of those who ruled Hawaii. Hawaii wouldn’t be Hawaii if it were not for its world famous surfers when during the winter season the northern part of Oahu with its Waimea Bay, Banzai Pipeline and Sunset Beach is extremely popular with surfers. A total of a hundred and thirty two islands, atolls and reefs make up the island group of Hawaii. Only a twenty-minute flight from Oahu and Honolulu is the fourth largest island, ‘Garden Island’ or, Kauai. Like no other island in the archipelago, Kauai is full of contrast: while temperatures on the palm beaches are mostly summer-like, dry and warm, the interior of the island is one of the moistest regions in the world. Apart from pleasure boats it’s mainly canoes and kayaks that travel on the waters of the southern and northern sections of the Wailua River, an adventurous and also very popular way of exploring the interior of Kauai. Picturesque insights into the Hawaii of bygone times are provided in the small village of Kamokila, an original Hawaiian village that has been reconstructed in every detail. The Haleakala National Park contains the world’s greatest dormant volcano and the clear night skies of this unique region have made it ideal for the observation of stars and satellites. What could be better than to observe the colourful transformation of the landscape while lying on a beach surrounded by palm trees and falling under the spell of this enchanting island paradise? Aloha Hawaii!

Travel video about destination Hawaii.
The Hawaiian Islands are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and form the 50th state of the USA. In the south east of the island of O’Ahu, Honolulu is a modern town and the starting point for most journeys. It also contains the Iolani Palace - once the residence of King David Kalakana -a magnificent Victorian structure in the centre of Honolulu and the only royal palace in the United States. In Pearl Harbour, a museum commemorates the events of the seventh of December 1941 when most of the American Pacific fleet was destroyed by the Japanese. The valley of Nuuanu Pali is of great importance in Hawaiian history. It was here that a deciding battle took place, when King Kamehameh came from Maui and triumphantly drove the troops of the chief of Oahu into the mountains, the result of which formed the political union of the Hawaiian Islands. In winter, the world’s best surfers collect on Sunset Beach, attracted by spectacular waves, some of which reach as high as the tallest church steeples. On the island of Kaua’i, the Wailua is Hawaii’s only navigable river and it flows through some of the exciting locations which were used for Jurassic Park, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Blue Hawaii. Two volcanoes dominate the extraordinary island of Maui, which also features sandy beaches, green pastures, dense jungle and a bleak lunar-like landscape. On Waimea Beach in 1778, the English sea captain, James Cook, was the first European to set foot on Hawaiian territory. The Waimea Canyon was referred to by Mark Twain as ‘The Grand Canyon of the Pacific’, a massive gorge which has been carved out of the volcanic landscape by the Waimea River. From a Victorian style station there is the narrow-gauge Sugar Cane Train which travels through the once prolific sugar plantations of Kaanapali. Haleakale is the world’s largest dormant volcano with a crater as large as Manhattan. But nowhere else in the world can volcanoes be studied as safely as on Big Island in the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park The Hawaiian Islands…priceless pearls in the Pacific Ocean.

Next I throw on a wet suit and hit the waves to learn how to surf -- my first time ever. Though I've ridden the New York City subway after happy hour before, I was still a little unsure about how my balance would be on a surfboard. Luckily, the surf instructor had a black labrador dog out on her board with us in case anything went terribly wrong.
Finally, I wrap up the day by heading to the beach with a ukulele to have a jam session with a local Maui resident and ukulele player, where we jam out to some Bob Marley as the sun set over the Pacific Ocean, framed by the nearby islands of Moloka'i and Lana'i.
I then travel to Paia, the small, laid-back beach town on the northern coast of Maui, to track down the famed breakfast dish called the Loco Moco (rice, brown gravy and a hamburger patty topped with a fried egg).
Next I head north on the Hana Highway and take a hike into the lush forest to take a dip at Twin Falls, a small water hole in the middle of the forest fed by two island waterfalls. If this isn't classic Hawaii, then I don't know what is.
After picking up my friends at the airport, we jump onto a helicopter(!) to take an aerial tour of Maui and nearby Moloka'i. From this vantage point we visit dramatic sea cliffs up close and explore the interior portions of the islands -- places that few people ever see.
I started off my third day there by heading back up the side of Haleakala Volcano, then lunging my body of the side of the hillside (okay, I was paragliding). As I floated thousands of feet above ground, I was given a unique viewpoint of the island, and even lived to tell about it (and make this video).
Next I head out onto the open water on a sailing outrigger canoe (a canoe with a lateral support on its side in traditional Polynesian fashion), and take to the water to go snorkeling, which included a couple sea turtle sightings.
I then finish up the day with fish tacos at Coconut's (which, to this day, are probably some of the best fish tacos I've ever had), and shave ice for dessert, the classic Hawaii dessert consisting of shaved ice inundated with flavored syrups.
I decide to get a little high culture in and head to Ulupalakua Winery and Ranch, where I sample some pineapple wine (what else?), then head across the street to the Western-themed country store for elk burgers for lunch.
Then I pick up my friends and head north to Honolua Bay to hike in the nearby forest (and maybe get lost a bit), then visit a hillside that overlooks Honolua Bay, where you can park your car and watch some of the best surfers in the world who come here to surf one of the world's best surfing spots.
Finally, I travel to the Surfing Goat Dairy Farm, Maui's premiere (and only goat farm), where I am put to work feeding and milking the goats, and rewarded with an artisanal goat cheese tasting.
Then, with my trip coming to a close, I head to the nondescript restaurant Da Kitchen, one of the best places to try out classic Hawaiian cuisine, including Kahlua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken and of course, Spam.
Finally, I wrap up by providing my thoughts about the island. Be forewarned, sentimentality and reflection ensue.

Travel video about destination Colorado.
Colorado is situated in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, a land of remote valleys and high mountains.Denver is the state capital and is located on a sunny high plateau sixteen hundred metres above sea level where the local inhabitants enjoy more sunshine throughout the year than in California’s San Diego or even Honolulu. Skyscrapers between the prairie and the Rockies, a somewhat surreal city in which various power industry companies are to be found. The 16th Street Mall is the city’s pride and a splendid avenue that boasts the longest pedestrianised area in the USA plus a free bus service! It contains several shopping malls, restaurants and all kinds of shops with products from all over the world. The shining red rocks on the outskirts of Colorado Springs are a striking spectacle within the Garden Of The Gods. The huge red sandstone rock formations rise to a height of up to a hundred and fifty metres. The natural monuments are a reminder of the geological past of this extraordinary region situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains Directly next to the caves at the foot of Pike’s Peak are the caves in which the Anasazi Indians once lived, the famous Cliff Dwellings where one can gain a fascinating insight into the culture of the native inhabitants of North America, how they lived, their culture and beliefs. The Indian Museum features Indian culture and work tools and is an impressive record of a long forgotten time and a people that almost became extinct. Sprague Lake is one of the region’s many glacial lakes and is ideal for walkers as well as anglers and boat enthusiasts, and several ranches offer accommodation. Ghost towns, gold mines, ancient cultures and mountain paradises, Native Indians, explorers, fur traders and gold prospectors, all the ingredients of the colourful history of America’s wild West. Colorado is indeed a place of spectacular nature and breathtaking adventure!
