Faye Dunaway Spotted Buying 'Mommie Dearest' Screenplay, Memoir as She Preps to Write Tell-All
Faye Dunaway finally is ready to talk about Mommie Dearest -- though she may be a little fuzzy on the details. The actress, who's penning a book on the making of the 1981 Joan Crawford biopic, recently was spotted in Larry Edmunds Bookshop on Hollywood Boulevard buying a copy of the film's screenplay and the Christina Crawford memoir that inspired it.

I love both versions of the Thomas Crown Affair. But for sartorialism and elegance Faye Dunaway's iconic outfits and the way she carries them has to be in front. She has a way of making an entrance which you can't take your eyes off.
But it is not just the costumes but all the subtle details. Smoking with a cigarette holder, the headscarf in the car, the way she sits down so elegantly at the table at the outdoor restaurant.. Even the way she steps into the car backwards upon her arrival at the airport. She must have been to finishing school. Very, very classy.
Like the saying goes "it's not the clothes but the way you wear them". You can have all the designer clothes in the world but if you don't know how to carry yourself it's wasted. The movie is the epitome of classy cool.
The background music is Windmills of my Mind by Sting, from the soundtrack to the 1999 remake of the movie. I love Sting's jazzy delivery of Michel Legrand's amazing lyrics.
The Three Graces - Elegance, Beauty and Style.
My Philosophy for a sublime way of living.
My aim - to bring a touch of old world grace and discreet glamour to the everyday.

When a curious oral historian (William Hickey) turns up to hear the life story of 121-year-old Jack Crabb (Dustin Hoffman), he can scarcely believe his ears. Crabb tells of having been rescued and raised by the Cheyenne, of working as a snake-oil salesman, as a gunslinger, and as a mule skinner under Gen. Custer (Richard Mulligan). As if those weren't astonishing enough, he also claims to be the only white survivor of the infamous Battle of the Little Bighorn.

As she browsed, she was followed around the store by an aggressive paparazzo. "It was very uncomfortable," says one witness. To paraphrase a line from the camp-classic film: Why can't she be given the respect that she's entitled to? Dunaway's rep had no comment.

Doc Holliday (Stacy Keach) and Kate Elder (Faye Dunaway) spend time at the Continental Hotel in Tombstone, Arizona, hoping to find his old friend Wyatt Earp (Harris Yulin), deputy marshal of Cochise County, who is striving to become the town's new sheriff in the election campaign.
Along the way, Doc meets up with Virgil and Morgan Earp, two of Wyatt's brothers, and follows them to Tombstone. Once Wyatt becomes the sheriff, he and his friend face a fierce resistance from the "Cowboys" gathered around the Clanton family, who want to keep control of the town and don't accept Earp's authority. The Cowboys include Ike Clanton (Michael Witney), Tom and Frank McLaury, and Billy Claiborne.
Doc teaches The Kid (Denver John Collins) how to shoot a pistol. When the Civil War ended, he left Atlanta, Georgia and went to Richmond, Virginia and then to Baltimore, Maryland, to be a dentist. After some time he decided to go out to the West, looking for a drier environment to cure his tuberculosis, for which he visits a Chinaman for herbs. (At another point in the movie, he is taking laudanum.)
In the end, the showdown at the OK Corral takes place during a fiesta. John Behan (Richard Mckenzie), Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday all survive the gunfight. Ike Clanton, Tom and Frank McClaury, and Billy Claiborne do not.

After getting fired by Andrew Lloyd Weber from the Sunset Boulevard musical, Faye Dunaway left this crazy voice mail where she tells a producers that she refused to speak about Mommie Dearest. EVER!
She talks about working with Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando.
Dorothy Faye Dunaway (born January 14, 1941) is an American actress. She received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for her performances in Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and Chinatown (1974), before winning the category with her 1976 performance in Network. Over the course of her career, she has starred in a variety of other successful films, including The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), The Towering Inferno (1974), Three Days of the Condor (1975), Mommie Dearest (1981) and Barfly (1987).
Dunaway appeared on Broadway in 1962 as the daughter of Thomas More in A Man for All Seasons and in 1965 off-Broadway in Hogan's Goat, for which she was well received. Her first screen role was in the 1967 comedy The Happening. In 1967, she was in Hurry Sundown, a drama directed by Otto Preminger. Preminger regretted casting Dunaway, who stated that Preminger knew nothing about the process of acting. She resented having him yell at her in public and commented, "Once I've been crossed, I'm not very conciliatory." After filming was completed, she sued Preminger to win her release from the five-film contract she had signed with him. An out-of-court settlement was reached in March 1968. Dunaway later admitted in her autobiography, "It cost me a lot of money to not work for Otto again . . . I regretted paying him [but] I thought he was awful." She did win a BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.
That same year, she gained the leading female role in Bonnie and Clyde opposite Warren Beatty, as bank robber Bonnie Parker. She beat out other actresses such as Jane Fonda, Natalie Wood, Cher, and Leslie Caron for the role. The film was an enormous success, and broke taboos on how violence and sex were presented in films. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including one for Dunaway as Best Actress (she lost to Katharine Hepburn). The film is one that Dunaway continues to be identified with. She also starred with Steve McQueen in the 1968 caper film The Thomas Crown Affair (and had a small role in the 1999 remake with the same title with Pierce Brosnan), and the film was also a hit. For several years after this, she appeared in films that went unnoticed by the general public. Little Big Man alongside Dustin Hoffman was one of the few hits she had at this time. One critical triumph was 1970's Puzzle of a Downfall Child, which Dunaway herself holds in high regard despite its relative obscurity.

This was after Bette had four strokes within two weeks, which very nearly wiped her out. She talks about her heartbreak when her daughter wrote a book in the same mean spirited manner as the one Christina Crawford wrote about her mom, Joan. Please click "Show More" for interesting information concerning her daughter.
The following courtesy of Wilipedia: ""In 1983, after filming the pilot episode for the television series Hotel, Davis was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy. Within two weeks of her surgery she suffered four strokes which caused paralysis in the left side of her face and in her left arm, and left her with slurred speech. She commenced a lengthy period of physical therapy and, aided by her personal assistant, Kathryn Sermak, gained partial recovery from the paralysis.
During this time, her relationship with her daughter, B. D. Hyman, deteriorated when Hyman became a born-again Christian and attempted to persuade Davis to follow suit. With her health stable, she traveled to England to film the Agatha Christie mystery Murder with Mirrors (1985). Upon her return, she learned that Hyman had published a memoir, My Mother's Keeper, in which she chronicled a difficult mother-daughter relationship and depicted scenes of Davis' overbearing and drunken behavior. Several of Davis' friends commented that Hyman's depictions of events were not accurate; one said, "so much of the book is out of context." Mike Wallace rebroadcast a 60 Minutes interview he had filmed with Hyman a few years earlier in which she commended Davis on her skills as a mother, and said that she had adopted many of Davis' principles in raising her own children. Critics of Hyman noted that Davis had financially supported the Hyman family for several years and had recently saved them from losing their house. Despite the acrimony of their divorce years earlier, Gary Merrill also defended Davis. Interviewed by CNN, Merrill said that Hyman was motivated by "cruelty and greed." Davis' adopted son, Michael Merrill, ended contact with Hyman and refused to speak to her again, as did Davis, who also disinherited her.
In her second memoir, This 'N That (1987), Davis wrote, "I am still recovering from the fact that a child of mine would write about me behind my back, to say nothing about the kind of book it is. I will never recover as completely from B.D.'s book as I have from the stroke. Both were shattering experiences." Her memoir concluded with a letter to her daughter, in which she addressed her several times as "Hyman," and described her actions as "a glaring lack of loyalty and thanks for the very privileged life I feel you have been given". She concluded with a reference to the title of Hyman's book, "If it refers to money, if my memory serves me right, I've been your keeper all these many years. I am continuing to do so, as my name has made your book about me a success." ""
(Note: Her first memoir was "The Lonely Life" published in 1962. I have just finished reading it - very well written and gives an in-depth look at Bette's straight-forward, no-nonsense, 'Yankee' persona but at the same time shows what a generous, intelligent, and loving person she was. I recommend it highly....Gladstone Girl2)
