Urals oil is a reference oil brand used as a basis for pricing of the Russian export oil mixture. It is a mix of heavy sour oil of Urals and the Volga region with light oil of Western Siberia. Other reference oils are Brent, West Texas Intermediate and Dubai.
Urals brand oil is supplied through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline system and the Druzhba pipeline. Urals oil futures trade on Russian Trading System stock exchange. There was also an effort to trade it on NYMEX under the name of REBCO (Russian Export Blend Crude Oil); however, not a single trade was made.
The Ural Mountains (Russian: Ура́льские го́ры, tr. Uralskiye gory; IPA: [ʊˈralʲskʲɪjə ˈgorɨ]; Bashkir: Урал тауҙары), or simply the Urals, are a mountain range that runs approximately from north to south through western Russia, from the coast of the Arctic Ocean to the Ural River and northwestern Kazakhstan. The mountain range forms part of the conventional boundary between the continents of Europe and Asia. Vaygach Island and the islands of Novaya Zemlya form a further continuation of the chain to the north into the Arctic Ocean.
The mountains lie within the Ural geographical region and significantly overlap with the Ural Federal District and with the Ural economic region. They have rich resources, including metal ores, coal, precious and semi-precious stones. Since the 18th century the mountains have contributed significantly to the mineral sector of the Russian economy.
An oil is any neutral, nonpolar chemical substance that is a viscous liquid at ambient temperatures and is both hydrophobic (immiscible with water, literally "water fearing") and lipophilic (miscible with other oils, literally "fat loving"). Oils have a high carbon and hydrogen content and are usually flammable and slippery.
The general definition of oil includes classes of chemical compounds that may be otherwise unrelated in structure, properties, and uses. Oils may be animal, vegetable, or petrochemical in origin, and may be volatile or non-volatile. They are used for food, fuel, lubrication, and the manufacture of paints, plastics, and other materials. Specially prepared oils are used in some religious ceremonies as purifying agents.
First attested in English 1176, the word oil comes from Old French oile, from Latin oleum, which in turn comes from the Greek ἔλαιον (elaion), "olive oil, oil" and that from ἐλαία (elaia), "olive tree", "olive fruit". The earliest attested forms of the word are the Mycenaean Greek 𐀁𐀨𐀺, e-ra-wo and 𐀁𐁉𐀺, e-rai-wo, written in the Linear B syllabic script.
Russian businessman Vyacheslav Zelinskiy exhibited his recycling machine that produces oil from a certain kind of plastic bottle, in Yekaterinburg, Tuesday. SOT, Vyacheslav Zelinskiy, businessman and inventor (Russian): "We sort polyethylene terephthalate bottles, that cost much more than oil. We get the rest that are polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, they are not being sorted." SOT Vyacheslav Zelinskiy, businessman and inventor (Russian): "After the cooling, the gas is being cooled and turns into a liquid that is an oil synthesis. It goes through the pipeline and is collected in the accumulator system. This shows that plastic which rots only after about 300-400 years might be used to produce a good product as an oil synthesis." Video ID: 20160719 034 Video on Demand: http://www...
We walk through the complete installation of the Ural Spin On Oil Filter Kit for 2013 and older Ural rigs. This install is on my wife's 2010 Ural Patrol. Besides the easy of changing the oil filter, the service interval for the oil change can be increased from 2500 km to 5000 km. It is also arguable (for lack of actual data) that oil cooling characteristics are improved with this kit. I do know the filter gets fairly hot and dissipates heat into the air. -- Another Uraling Video dedicated to riding sidecar motorcycles built in Russia by IMZ-Ural. The price of oil, or the oil price, generally refers to the spot price of a barrel of benchmark crude oil—a reference price for buyers and sellers of crude oil such as West Texas Intermediate (WTI), Brent ICE, Dubai Crude, OPEC Reference Basket, Tapis Crude, Bonny Light, Urals oil, Isthmus and Western Canadian Select (WCS). There is a differential in the price of a barrel of oil based on its grade—determined by factors such as its specific gravity or API and its sulphur content—and its location—for example, its proximity to tidewater and/or refineries. Heavier, sour crude oils lacking in tidewater access—such as Western Canadian Select— are less expensive than lighter, sweeter oil—such as WTI.

In the third session of the Fall 2014 Colloquium Series, Douglas Rogers from Yale University discusses the findings of his study on oil from the perspective of the Perm Region of the Russian Urals, now an important base of operations for Lukoil, ahead of the publication of his new book, tentatively entitled The Depths of Russia: Oil, Culture, and Power After Socialism. Oil is most commonly studied at the uppermost reaches of Russian politics and economics: in the grand privatization deals and steals of the 1990s, in high-stakes conflicts between oligarchs and the Kremlin in the Putin era, or in struggles over federal budgets and stabilization funds. All of this neglects the important ways in which the residents of oil regions—from oil-sector workers to regional state and corporate elites—...
Time to crack open the valve covers and adjust the valves on the Ural. What I found was surprising on the left side, an oil waterfall... or is that an oilfall? I also found an intake valve with no gap on the right side. This video is longer than it needs to be, but I wasn't trying to rush, just enjoy my time. If you do watch though, you might learn a little something about adjusting the valves on a Ural. This will be an ongoing series of videos about the 2010 Patrol that I will keep in a play list while it is in project status. Videos may be short or long depending on their purpose. Some will simply be to ask a question, some may be a full update with procedures etc... -- Another Uraling Video dedicated to riding sidecar motorcycles built in Russia by IMZ-Ural. This is my first FAQ video with some footage of us riding on Interstate 74 in North Carolina. I go through many of the questions we are asked while riding and some we've received via email. If you have considered buying a Ural or own one and avoid the interstates or have a dog you want to get to ride, you will probably want to watch all of this video. Answers are based on our experience with the 2008 Tourist and 2010 Patrol and newer rigs. If you have or buy an older Ural (such as a 1996) then my comments about handling, speed, maintenance etc... may not apply. The oldest Ural I've ever ridden is the 2008 Tourist. FAQ's answered in this video: Can you ride a Ural on the Interstate? Answered in detail and video from Interstate riding. Does the fairing on the front help? Don't the jugs (e...
