MGMT is an American rock band formed in 2002 by Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden. After the release of their first album, the members of their live band, Matthew Asti, James Richardson and Will Berman, joined the core band in the studio. Formed at Wesleyan University and originally with Cantora Records, they signed with Columbia Records and Red Ink in 2006.
On October 5, 2007, Spin.com named MGMT "Artist of the Day." On November 14, 2007, Rolling Stone pegged MGMT as a top ten "Artist to Watch" in 2008. The band was named ninth in the BBC's Sound of 2008 Top Ten Poll. They were also named as Last.fm's most played new artist of 2008 in their Best of 2008 list.
MGMT's first album, Oracular Spectacular, debuted at No. 12 on the UK album chart, No. 13 after 34 weeks in the New Zealand RIANZ charts, number six on the Australian ARIA Charts, and hit number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. It has also been named the 18th best album of the 2000s by Rolling Stone magazine. It was named the best album of 2008 by NME. MGMT also appeared prominently in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 2008, coming in 2nd with "Electric Feel", 5th with "Kids" and 18th with "Time to Pretend".

"Siberian Breaks" is a song released by psychedelic rock band MGMT on their second studio album, Congratulations. It is the longest track on the album and MGMT's second longest song to date, clocking in a minute and a half behind "Metanoia." Andrew VanWyngarden has said that Siberian Breaks is his favorite song on the album.
For Record Store Day, the band released a limited-edition 12" blue marble vinyl single featuring the full 12-minute album version of "Siberian Breaks" on side A, with side B featuring a special etched design. There were 2000 copies pressed and it is said to be the "perfect companion piece to the album".
VanWyngarden says of the song, "It's kind of like eight different songs strung together into one, and the general theme is about surfing in the Arctic Circle by Russia."
Sonic Boom commentary of the track, before the Congratulations sessions at the Blanker Unsinn Studio on 2010: "A Pop Surf Opera, after the storm, the loss of Ego. Brakers on the Beach. Hangin Ten with the Hodads. Distraction. The Sandy Smiles as the Sun Squints its way. A new day. Cleansed. Ready. Surf's Up! Piss or pass the Pot."
The Television Personalities are an English rock group led by singer–songwriter Dan Treacy (born 19 June 1960). The band's first release (January 1978) was the single "14th Floor"/"Oxford Street W1", while their second, the EP Where's Bill Grundy Now? features one of their best-known songs, "Part Time Punks".
The Television Personalities' first album ...And Don't The Kids Just Love It was released in 1981. It set the template for their subsequent career: neo-psychedelia, an obsession with youth culture of the 1960s, a fey, slightly camp lyrical attitude, and the occasional classic pop song. Their second album Mummy Your Not Watching Me [sic] demonstrated increased psychedelic influences. Their third album, entitled They Could Have Been Bigger Than The Beatles showed Treacy's sense of humour; the TVPs were never to have any major commercial success in the UK – although their albums sold respectably in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. The first three albums featured Treacy and schoolmate Ed Ball; Ball left the band to found The Times, but rejoined in 2004.

Another trippy song by MGMT (Full length) Lyrics: Sleep as the goer the bridge that watches the light speed through and cries while the spirit stumbles and inside missile for the protection of you maybe it's silent the voice can't bear anymore strain but speak without even knowing and streams outside in the direction of truth there's no reason there's no secret to decode if youc an't save it, leave it dying on the road wide open arms can feel so cold so cold feel so cold balance the books, the ledges, the loons the disappointed look on the faces that squint at the moon let's see it with shadows enhance and then vote to decide who'll advance silver jet plane, making a turn exciting the brain that expects it to crash and then burn it's not the life lesson I'd'...

~Lyrics in Description~ Song: Honey Bunny Album: Climbing to New Lows Artist: The Management (c) 2005 Lyrics: Hello dirt, goodbye innocence, Catch me a drop of dew. Goodbye hope, hello elegance, You've got a lot to prove. Sunshine beach, you've got sandy toes, race to the perfect beach, I owe you, thanks a lot, thanks for everything, you are a weasel shit. Oh my God! What have we done? I killed your mama, you better run! You better skip, on outta here, We'll miss this place, Gonna disappear. Fucking weasel, you've lost your touch. Skinny as hell, but it's not enough. Life is a mineshaft of love. But don't dig too deep.

Lyrics: When we see your blue planet we feel tingly inside. Spaceship cold from the vacuum of space traveling. Kittens, hash, by the dozen, we feel tingly inside. Burn and burn the reactor churns. Our hands in our heads, Space in the spaceship, odd the planet. whoa oh. We are alone, the world is not our home, we breathe the air, we care, We feel the pain, we cannot explain, there are no words to be heard. When we get where we're going we feel tingly inside Eyes that glow like a burning dwarf, Our hands in our heads, Space in the spaceship, odd the planet. whoa oh. We are alone, the world is not our home, we breathe the air, we care, We feel the pain, we cannot explain, there are no words to be heard. A child's face is lost in outer space, his eyes are red...

It's hard to know when MGMT is being genuine and when they're not. After relentless touring for their debut album Oracular Spectacular the band has become somewhat weary of showing their true colours. Nevertheless there's an element of peculiarity and intrigue in MGMT that continuously shines through and on the new album Congratulations the virtue is enhanced. Whether they're hiding behind irony or letting it all hang out it's hard to say, either way though, the band has successfully demanded the attention of listeners without pandering to the jest of the entertainment spectacle. It seems they've realized the opportunity they have as musicians but are determined to minimize the affect of that success on their individuality -- at least as much as possible. ANDREW: "I think the people that...
