Two bomb explosions in the Syrian city of Homs on Monday have killed more than 30 people, injuring a further 90, according to the monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The explosions are the second major attacks in the city since a ceasefire was implemented earlier in December.

Over 30 people were killed and around 90 injured in a triple bomb blast in Homs, Monday. A suicide bomber, a car bomb and another device exploded were set off almost simultaneously near the city’s Ruqyah medical clinic.
The attack is the second to strike Homs since a ceasefire deal was agreed between anti-government forces and Damascus earlier this month. The deal would see the city fall back into the control of the Syrian government.

Based on the agreement, militants from the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front group were granted safe passage to leave Waer district in Homs. Waer was the last district held by the militants since their evacuation of the Old City on May 20-14. The United Nations is responsible for supervising the evacuation. Provincial officials and Nusra Front representatives held several months of talks to reach the deal. This came after the Syrian army tightened its grip on the city, making the militants negotiate for their surrender. The Syrian army has made major gains in northern parts of the country in recent months.

Homs (Arabic: حمص Ḥimṣ), previously known as Emesa (Greek: Ἔμεσα, Emesa), is a city in western Syria and the capital of the Homs Governorate. It is 501 metres (1,644 ft) above sea level and is located 162 kilometres (101 mi) north of Damascus. Located on the Orontes River, Homs is also the central link between the interior cities and the Mediterranean coast.
Homs is a major industrial center, and with a population of at least 652,609 people (2004 census), it is the third largest city in Syria after Aleppo to the north and the capital Damascus to the south. Its population reflects Syria's general religious diversity, composed mostly of Arabic-speaking Sunni Muslims and Alawite and Christian minorities. The city boasts a number of historic mosques and churches and is close to the Krak des Chevaliers, a world heritage site.
Homs did not emerge into the historical record until the 1st-century BCE at the time of the Seleucids. It later became the capital of a kingdom ruled by the Emesani dynasty who gave the city its name. Originally a center of worship for the sun god El-Gabal, it later gained importance in Christianity under the Byzantines. Homs was conquered by the Muslims in the 7th-century and made capital of a district that bore its current name. Throughout the Islamic era, Muslim dynasties contending for control of Syria sought after Homs due to the city's strategic position in the area. Homs began to decline under the Ottomans and only in the 19th century did the city regain its economic importance when its cotton industry boomed. During French Mandate rule, the city became a center of insurrection and, after independence in 1946, a center of Baathist resistance to the first Syrian governments. Homs has played a central role in the ongoing Syrian uprising against the Baathist government and since May 2011 has been under siege by the Syrian Army.

Based on the agreement, militants from the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front group were granted safe passage to leave Waer district in Homs. Waer was the last district held by the militants since their evacuation of the Old City on May 20-14. The United Nations is responsible for supervising the evacuation. Provincial officials and Nusra Front representatives held several months of talks to reach the deal. This came after the Syrian army tightened its grip on the city, making the militants negotiate for their surrender. The Syrian army has made major gains in northern parts of the country in recent months.

Ðài quan sát Nhân quyền Syria có trụ sở ở Anh nói rằng hai vụ nổ ở thành phố Homs làm thiệt mạng ít nhất 32 người và làm bị thương gần 100 người. Giới hữu trách nói rằng vụ tấn công thứ nhất xảy ra tại quận ak-Zahraa ở trung tâm thành phố bằng bom xe, tiếp theo đó là vụ đánh bom tự sát khi nhiều người tập trung tại hiện trường vụ nổ thứ nhất.
Đó là vụ tấn công lớn thứ hai tại thành phố Homs kể từ khi một thỏa thuận ngừng bắn giữa các phe lâm chiến có hiệu lực hồi trước đây trong tháng, mở đường cho chính phủ chiếm lại khu vực cuối cùng trong thành phố còn do phe nổi dậy kiểm soát.
Trong khi đó, cuộc di tản dân chúng tại 3 thị trấn đã bắt đầu, tiếp theo sau một thỏa thuận nhân đạo do Liên Hiệp Quốc bảo trợ hồi tháng 9 giữa chính phủ và phe nổi dậy.
Ðài quan sát Nhân quyền Syria nói rằng hơn 100 chiến binh tại Zabadani, thành lũy cuối cùng của phe nổi dậy ở biên giới giữa Syria với Libăng đang trên đường đến Libăng và Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ trước khi các chiến binh này sẽ được đưa trở lại những khu vực khác ở Syria. Đồng thời hơn 300 chiến binh và thường dân đang rời khỏi các làng mạc ở Foua và Kfarya.
Hơn 250.000 đã thiệt mạng trong cuộc xung đột ở Syria và hơn 4 triệu người đã trốn chạy khỏi Syria kể từ khi cuộc chiến nổ ra vào năm 2011.
Trong một diễn biến hiếm thấy, Hội đồng Bảo an Liên Hiệp Quốc nhất trí thông qua một nghị quyết hôm 18/12 ủng hộ một lộ đồ quốc tế cho hòa bình Syria.
Hôm thứ Bảy, nhà điều giải của Liên Hiệp Quốc về Syria, ông Staffan de Mistura nói rằng ông đặt mục tiêu triệu tập một vòng đàm phán hòa bình vào ngày 25 tháng Giêng tại Geneva. Ông nói các cuộc đàm phán đó sẽ bao gồm "nhiều thành phần và phe phái Syria nhất" và rằng các cuộc đàm phán đó đòi hỏi "sự hợp tác toàn diện" của tất cả các bên trong cuộc xung đột.
Thông báo cũng nói rằng các diễn tiến tại thực địa "không được cho phép làm lệch hướng" các sáng kiến hòa bình.
Geneva là địa điểm tổ chức hai vòng đàm phán hòa bình được Liên Hiệp Quốc điều giải hồi trước đây trong năm giữa chính phủ của Tổng thống Bashar al-Assad và phe nổi dậy chiến đấu đòi lật đổ chế độ của ông Assad kể từ năm 2011.
Các cuộc đàm phán đó kế thúc với rất ít tiến bộ, và động lực tiến tới một thỏa thuận hòa bình cũng tan biến trong khi cuộc xung đột ngày càng chuyển biến phức tạp hơn với thêm sự có mặt của Nhà nước Hồi giáo chiếm cứ những vùng lãnh thổ rộng lớn ớ miền đông Syria. Nhưng trong vài tháng qua, các nhà lãnh đạo thúc đẩy cho tiến trình hòa bình được nối lại, trong đó có nhiều cuộc họp quốc tế mang các cường quốc thế giới lại với cam kết đưa các bên tham chiến trở lại bàn đám phán.
Các nhà ngoại giao như Ngoại trưởng Mỹ John Kerry đặt nỗ lực chấm dứt cuộc nội chiến Syria là bước quan trọng nhất để đập tan Nhà nước Hồi giáo và mang lại ổn định cho khu vực.

해발 750m 칼릴산 정상에 우뚝 서 있는 크락 데 슈발리에는 십자군 시대의 성이다. 성은 외성과 내성으로 이루어져 있고 외성과 내성 사이엔 해자가 있다. 기사들의 성이란 뜻의 이 성은 십자군 전쟁 당시 지어진 것으로 한 번 도 함락된 적이 없는 십자군 요새의 결정판이다. 이 성이 이슬람세력에게 함락된 것도 전투에 의해서가 아니라 거짓 정보에 의한 투항 때문이었다. 성 내부로 들어가 보면 미로 같은 통로를 따라 각각의 용도를 가진 방들이 나온다. 십자군의 말들을 키우던 마구간에는 우물터가 남아있고 말을 매어 두던 말뚝을 박았던 자리도 남아있다. 걸음을 좀 더 옮기면 이 성을 점령한 후 아랍어로 기념을 남긴 거대한 기둥이 나타나고. 성 한쪽엔 길이가 120m에 이르는 대회의실도 보인다. 성 내부에는 이렇게 다양한 공간들이 수도 없이 존재한다. “이곳 시리아의 풍광은 아주 새로운 경험이었습니다. 규모가 아주 큰 유적들과 중세의 건축기술을 보고 깊은 감명을 받았습니다. 매우 훌륭합니다. 한국 분들도 이곳의 문화를 느껴보시기 바랍니다.” 이곳은 사원이 있던 자리. 십자군이 주둔하고 있을 땐 교회였지만, 이슬람 군이 점령하고는 이슬람 사원으로 그 용도가 바뀐 곳이다. 운이 좋으면 동네 아이들의 아잔소리를 들어볼 수도 있다. “알라는 위대하시다! 알라는 위대하시다! 알라 외에 다른 신은 없다는 것을 나는 고백한다. 무함마드가 알라의 메신저라는 것을 나는 고백한다. 기도하러 나오라! 성공하기 위하여 나아오라!” 뜻밖의 행운을 뒤로하고 성의 꼭대기에 오르면 보너스로 얻는 전망 또한 볼 만하다.

Learn more about world history as you spend a day exploring the gigantic prang (towers) and monuments in Ayutthaya. This popular tourist destination which is favorably situated at the head of the Gulf of Siamis considered as one of Asia's most successful trading capitals.

Off to refill the ether cylinders! WHAT AN AMAZING QUEST. But, it does lead us further in the story, so I'll take it. Either way, we've got our crew backing up us so Shulk doesn't have to travel alone.
Basically, we've just gotten past the character intros and have stepped into the world of 'kill the rats in the basement.' Just like in true RPG fashion! Still, Xenoblade Chronicles' sci-fi element is very cool!
I end up running around a bit here, but hey, it's all part of the Xenoblade Chronicles experience. No heavy grinding/side questing this time, but we're starting to reach that point.
