Adele opened up to i-d magazine in her first interview in THREE years and flat out denied that the ballad is an apology to a guy she used to date. Shocking, right?! She revealed that her heartbroken days are long behind her, saying QUOTE, ‘It’s not about anyone specifically. It’s about friends, ex-boyfriends, it’s about myself, it’s about my family. It’s also about my fans as well. I feel like everyone thinks I’m so far away and I’m not. The song is about hurting someone’s feelings, but it’s also about trying to stay in touch with myself, which sometimes can be a little hard to do. It’s about yearning for the other side of me. When I’m away, I really, really miss my life at home. The way I feel when I’m not in England, is desperation. I can’t breathe anywhere else.” Well, now that she has explained the meaning behind the song, we can see where these lyrics totally makes sense now… The new mom may be the queen of emotional and powerful ballads, but she can’t deny herself a catchy jam. Adele recalls one afternoon when she hung out with One Republic’s Ryan Tedder when Taylor Swift’s ‘Trouble’ started playing on the radio. She said, QUOTE ‘I was like, I love this song, who did this?’ Umm, PUMP THE BRAKES, ADELE IS OFFICIALLY A SWIFTY and we’re assuming Tay is probably thinking something along the lines of this… T-Swift must be dying inside because that right there is one HELL of a compliment! Soooo, now can we expect a Tay-Adele duet or collaboration soon?!
