Southall Broadway is the only place where you can see everything Asian, from food, spices, clothes, restaurants, take-away and jewellers.

Southall Broadway is a world famous shopping destination. The Southall shops provide a unique shopping experience.

Sunday the 10th of April 2016, was a glorious sunny day for the Nagar Kirtan procession through the streets of Southall UK. From the Havelock rd to Park avenue Gurdwara's.
130,000 people attended the event this year, which is a record number of attendees.
Vaisakhi and Nagar Kirtan Sikh ceremonies, Southall
Guru Gobind Singh was the last living Sikh Guru. The eleventh Guru is Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred scripture of Sikhism. On special occasions, this sacred scripture is taken out of the temple and paraded through the streets. This is called a Nagar Kirtan.
One of these occasions is Vaisakhi, the Sikh New Year Festival. Guru Gobind Singh chose this celebration in 1699 to transform Sikhs into a family of soldier saints.
Five men were involved in dramatic scenes on that day in 1699 and they became known as the Panj Pyare, the Five Beloved Ones. Men representing them can be seen in the modern procession.
The word "Khalsa" means "pure", Khalsa's are Sikhs which have undergone the sacred Amrit Ceremony initiated by the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The Khalsa order was initially created on Baisakhi Day March 30 1699, with Guru Gobind Singh baptizing 5 Sikhs and then in turn asking the five Khalsa's to baptize him. Following this the Guru personally baptized thousands of men and women into the Khalsa order. The Khalsa baptism ceremony is undertaken as part of ones own personal spiritual evolution when the initiate is ready to fully live up to the high expectations of Guru Gobind Singh. All Sikhs are expected to be Khalsa or be working towards that objective.

Documentary about the Southall Riots 1979. An extreme right-wing organization chose Southall Town Hall to hold its St George's Day election meeting.
The area has one of the country's biggest Asian communities, who along with anti-racism demonstrators, tried to make their way to the town hall but were blocked by police.
In the confrontation that followed, more than 40 people, including 21 police, were injured, and 300 were arrested. Bricks and bottles were hurled at police, who described the rioting as the most violent they have handled in London.
Blair Peach, a New Zealand-born member of the Anti-Nazi League and teacher for special needs children in east London, was killed. Witnesses said his injuries were caused by police baton blows.(bbc)

Southall is a large suburban district of west London, England, and part of the London Borough of Ealing. It is situated 10.7 miles (17.2 km) west of Charing Cross. Neighbouring places include Yeading, Hayes, Hanwell, Heston, Hounslow, Greenford and Northolt. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.
Southall is located on the Grand Union Canal (formerly the Grand Junction Canal) which first linked London with the rest of the growing canal system. It was one of the last canals to carry significant commercial traffic (through the 1950s) and is still open to traffic and is used by pleasure craft.
Toponymy
The name Southall derives from the Anglo-Saxon dative æt súð healum, "At the south corner (of the land or wood)" and súð heal, "South corner" and separates it from Northolt which was originally norþ heal, "North corner" which through a later association with Anglo-Saxon holt, "Wood, copse" developed into Northolt.

Neville Southall
Neville Southall MBE (born 16 September 1958) is a Welsh former international footballer. He has been described as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation and won the FWA Footballer of the Year award in 1985.
He joined Bury from Winsford United for a £6,000 fee in 1980, and turned professional in his early 20s after a number of years as a semi-professional and amateur player. During his teenage years he worked as a binman, waiter and hod carrier. He moved on to Everton for £150,000 in 1981 and established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper by the 1983–84 season. He went on to make a club record 578 appearances in the Football League and Premier League (750 in all competitions); his honours with the club include a European Cup Winners' Cup medal in 1985, a First Division championship medal in 1984–85 and 1986–87, an FA Cup winners medal in 1984 and 1995, and an FA Charity Shield winners medal in 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1995. He also played in the 1985 and 1989 FA Cup finals, the League Cup final in 1984, and helped Everton to a second place in the league in 1985–86. After leaving Everton in 1998, he became Torquay United's regular goalkeeper for two years. He also made a handful of appearances for numerous other clubs.

Sunday the 10th of April 2016, was a glorious sunny day for the Nagar Kirtan procession through the streets of Southall UK. From the Havelock rd to Park avenue Gurdwara's.
130,000 people attended the event this year, which is a record number of attendees.
Vaisakhi and Nagar Kirtan Sikh ceremonies, Southall
Guru Gobind Singh was the last living Sikh Guru. The eleventh Guru is Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred scripture of Sikhism. On special occasions, this sacred scripture is taken out of the temple and paraded through the streets. This is called a Nagar Kirtan.
One of these occasions is Vaisakhi, the Sikh New Year Festival. Guru Gobind Singh chose this celebration in 1699 to transform Sikhs into a family of soldier saints.
Five men were involved in dramatic scenes on that day in 1699 and they became known as the Panj Pyare, the Five Beloved Ones. Men representing them can be seen in the modern procession.
The word "Khalsa" means "pure", Khalsa's are Sikhs which have undergone the sacred Amrit Ceremony initiated by the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The Khalsa order was initially created on Baisakhi Day March 30 1699, with Guru Gobind Singh baptizing 5 Sikhs and then in turn asking the five Khalsa's to baptize him. Following this the Guru personally baptized thousands of men and women into the Khalsa order. The Khalsa baptism ceremony is undertaken as part of ones own personal spiritual evolution when the initiate is ready to fully live up to the high expectations of Guru Gobind Singh. All Sikhs are expected to be Khalsa or be working towards that objective.

Documentary about the Southall Riots 1979. An extreme right-wing organization chose Southall Town Hall to hold its St George's Day election meeting.
The area has one of the country's biggest Asian communities, who along with anti-racism demonstrators, tried to make their way to the town hall but were blocked by police.
In the confrontation that followed, more than 40 people, including 21 police, were injured, and 300 were arrested. Bricks and bottles were hurled at police, who described the rioting as the most violent they have handled in London.
Blair Peach, a New Zealand-born member of the Anti-Nazi League and teacher for special needs children in east London, was killed. Witnesses said his injuries were caused by police baton blows.(bbc)
