It is worth a trip to the Polish capital Warsaw to explore the Old Town and the beautiful monuments that have been completely restored and rebuilt after the terrible ravages of war. Warsaw during World War II, was completely destroyed by the Nazis, but was out of the rubble and efforts of the entire nation was on again!

Warsaw - Poland Travel Guide, Tourism http://goo.gl/HmkEIN
Warsaw is a large and sprawling city of more than 1.7 million people that is split into somewhat uneven halves by the Wisła (Vistula) River. Most everything of interest to visitors is on the western side of the river around the modern financial district. Its centrepiece is the landmark Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki), a Socialist-Realist confection which can be seen from virtually anywhere in the city.
The epicentre of Warsaw for visitors is the so-called Royal Route (Trakt Królewski), which runs north-south from the New and Old Towns, past the fashionable shops of Nowy Świat, the palaces that survived the war and the royal gardens of Łazienki Park, before reaching Wilanów Palace to the south of the city centre.
Warsaw's striking Old Town may look like it dates back several centuries but the old gal has barely reached middle age. The painstakingly rebuilt area was awarded a listing on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1980. Unmissable attractions in and around the Old Town include the Royal Castle, St John's Cathedral and the Citadel. Farther afield, make sure you visit the Warsaw Rising Museum for the story of the courageous men and women who rose up against their occupiers in WWII as well as the Palace of Culture and Science for the views.
No surprising for a city that was essentially rebuilt from the ground up after WWII, Warsaw offers an inordinate amount of green space, with leafy parks where rowing boats cruise past outdoor cafés, during the summer, and free classical concerts attract crowds in a scene far removed from the dull Communist-era images of Warsaw. And don't miss the palaces and other historical and cultural buildings in the city's splendid Łazienki and Wilanów Parks.
Warsaw's nightlife is one of the best in Eastern Europe today, with a multitude of bars and clubs scattered across the city as well as a generous dose of more highbrow entertainment such as classical music concerts and opera. Whatever you do, don't leave town without sampling the tipple of choice here in these parts: wódka (vodka). It comes in a myriad of flavours and hues - from myśliwska (`hunter's vodka'), which tastes a bit like gin, and wiśniówka (flavoured with cherries) to pieprzówka (pepper) and the famous żubrówka ('bison vodka'), which is flavoured with grass and favoured by the beasties in Bialowieza National Park). Poles traditionally drank vodka neat -- never in cocktails.
The dining options have improved no end in Warsaw, with international cuisine regularly featured alongside Polish standards. And Polish cuisine has also undergone some major transformations, lightening up old favourites with less fat and employing fresher ingredients.

Poland is a major part of the global tourism market and is currently experiencing an upward trend in its number of visitors; this began shortly after joining the European Union. Tourism in Poland contributes to the country's overall economy and makes up a relatively large proportion of the country's service market. The most attractive urban destinations for tourists are Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań, Lublin and Toruń; in addition to these the historic site of the Auschwitz concentration camp near Oświęcim is a noteworthy place of pilgrimage and a now constitutes a major monument to the prevention of war and suffering in Southern Poland. Popular areas of natural beauty include northeast Poland's Masurian Lake District and Białowieża Forest. Poland's main tourist offerings are thought to be based around city-sightseeing and extra-urban historical monuments, business trips, qualified tourism, agrotourism, and mountain hiking.

Warsaw Poland - Tour Of A Great City And What To Do
Visit http://www.masterpage.com.pl/warsaw-poland-about for much, much more about the City Of Warsaw Poland.
That page as well as the parent site cover many topics related to travel and tourism in Warsaw.
It tells you about shopping, things to do, places to eat and all about getting around in the City.
It is perhaps one of the most comprehensive sites about Warsaw. Having been built by someone who lives in Warsaw, you get to see the city from ground level and learn what it is like to travel and live there.
But aside from the City's physical location, it enjoys a unique location within the Polish culture.
Poland is a country of regions with the people varying within each of the regions. And the regions fall into two general classifications often known as Poland A and Poland B. Warsaw could be called Poland C.
That is because not only is it the capital of Poland, it is also the Country's financial center and, as a matter of fact, the financial center for Eastern Europe. As such it has attracted young people from all over the country who are interested in pursuing careers that are not generally available in the outlying districts. And the heavy concentration of businesses, as well as the political activity, have resulted in the pace of life being much more rapid than in any of the cities in the Country.
The population is a mix of new and old cultures. Those who live in regions such as Kabaty, at the end of the Metro Line live in modern apartment complexes and tend to be young. Those who live in older districts such as Zoliborz live in buildings that were built after the war, but during the communist times, tend to be older. The lifestyles in both these districts, as well as other regions around Warsaw, differ significantly.
Warsaw arose from the rubble after the second world war. It is difficult to comprehend what the Polish people did to rebuild their city. Here is a link to a video that might help to put Warsaw and its people in perspective. History Of Warsaw
There is much more on the rebuilding of Warsaw at the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising.
Today, Warsaw continues to rebuild. Many of the buildings that were erected after the war but during communist times are being torn down and replaced by modern structures.
Large shopping malls and shopping centers are located everywhere from the Centrum to the outlying districts. You can see videos about them in the Warsaw Poland Play list.
There are expensive and modern public transportation systems. In modern-day Warsaw, one does not need a car for everyday life.
At a for the tourist, there is more than enough to keep one busy. One can choose sightseeing in Warsaw's old town or spending one's time at one of the modern beer drinking holes or pubs.

It's worth preparing for this with coats and sweaters.
If we've had to leave our cars anyway, we cannot only go with a good walking tour but we can take the opportunity for a bicycle tour, even with the rented mountain bike. The scenic valley of the Prudnik is winding along the oldest ranges of the era of Krakow. The river valley narrowing to canyons of some places is framed with limestone rocks of various shapes. The valley widens at some places, here it's surrounded by green fields.
While in the white rocks the mouths of caves are various sizes are open. The famous rock formation standing at the east area is called the Krakow gate. Warsaw, Poland Travel Guide - See Attractions - Travel Poland 2015

Ciekawy Film o Polsce :: Poland Travel Guide Video
Warsaw is Poland's largest city and an economic, political, and cultural centre. It's a bustling metropolis harbouring an unforgettable history and today offers parkland as well as a city full of culture - you will find historic palaces and churches amongst modern architecture, while cosy cafes compete with fashionable clubs. The city's history itself is believed to have begun with the creation and development of Old Warsaw (Stara Warszawa), which was set on what is today known as the Old Town (Stare Miasto). Mazovian Prince Bolesław II brought prosperous traders to the Old Town, and his headquarters were based there. Warsaw is also known for its famous musical resident, Fryderyk Chopin, who for the first half of his 39 years, was associated with Warsaw. It was in Warsaw that he studied music, where he was formally educated, and where his heart found its final resting place. The last time Chopin played a concert in Warsaw was in October of 1830, at the National Theatre. He died on October 17, 1849 and was buried at the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. His heart, however, came back to Warsaw -- it was his most fervent desire to have his heart buried in Warsaw -- and it now lies in the Holy Cross Church (kościół św. Krzyża) on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.

When visiting Warsaw, check out the following places:
Łazienki Królewskie Park-Palace Complex:
The park and palace complex at Łazienki is one of the most beautiful of this type in Europe. Established in the 17th century, the landscape gardens feature many interesting architectural monuments, especially the Palace on the Island built for King Stanislaw August Poniatowski -- Poland's last monarch. It served as his summer residence and was famous for the Thursday dinners.
Wilanów Park-Palace Complex:
The summer residence of King Jan III Sobieski and then Augustus II as well as subsequent aristocratic families. It stands as an excellent representation of European Baroque at its height and a homage to the former greatness of the Republic. The palace is surrounded by a grandiose, two level Baroque Italian garden and a romantic park in an English style. Wilanów is the venue of important cultural events and concerts. The former stables house the Poster Museum.
Palace of Culture and Science:
Completed in 1955 as a 'gift from the Soviet people', the building is the embodiment of Socialist Realist architecture. It is still the tallest building in Poland and fulfils the role of a cultural centre accommodating theatres, museums, a cinema and a concert hall. The highest viewing platform in Warsaw, on the 30th foor, offers an excellent panoramic view of the city.
Warsaw Rising Museum:
Opened in 2004, on the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, the museum pays tribute to all those who fought and died for their country's independence. Housed in a former tramway power station, the modern museum guides visitors through interactive displays, video footage and photographs.
National Museum:
The museum contains a rich collection of exhibits from antiquity to modern times. The building originates from the inter-war period. During the World War II it secretly stored some of the Royal Castle treasures. It organizes numerous temporary exhibitions presenting art from all over the world. The Vistula-side building wing is the Museum of the Polish Army presenting the history of Polish military featuring an interesting outdoor exhibition.
Warsaw Zoological Garden:
Established in 1928, the garden is now inhabited by several thousand animals, yet the real personalities of the Warsaw Zoo are the brown bears whose area is located outside the garden, near Solidarności Avenue, and can be viewed by passers-by.
University of Warsaw Library:
The facade of the building, which resembles a line of open books, is one of the most interesting examples of contemporary architecture in Warsaw. The roof garden is open to the public.
Places related to Fryderyk Chopin:
Fryderyk Chopin is undoubtedly the best known resident of Warsaw. He spent the first 20 years of his life in the city. Here he studied music, learned the manners of society and gave his first concerts. Walking the streets of Warsaw you will pass buildings where he stayed or which he visited. There are many places which are a homage paid to his talent and Warsaw boasts the world's largest Chopin memorabilia collection.

EURO 2012 FOOTBALL TOURISM EXCEEDS ALL EXPECTATIONS

Situated by the Baltic sea, Gdansk stands as an example of the success of the European championship in host country Poland after worries over exploding hotel costs and fan violence.
"The overall impression is very good, actually it exceeds our predictions, because what's most important to us is that the fans who came to Poland are very satisfied with organisation and the reception from Polish people," said a city spokesperson, one day before Gdansk hosts a quarter-final between Germany and Greece.
Michal Brandt said that revenues of local restaurants and pubs had increased by up to 400 percent.
Restaurant owners said they were happy that fans were celebrating all day and into the next morning after the matches.
"Euro 2012 makes our businesses more profitable", restaurant owner Marzena Wirsanska said.
While clashes occurred ahead and after the Poland - Russia match in Warsaw, and Russian fans attacked stadium stewards in Wroclaw following a game against the Czech Republic, the situation has remained calm in Gdansk.
No major violent incidents were reported from host city Poznan either, where thousands of green-clad Irish fans peacefully celebrated and cheered for their team.
"We love Poland, it's very nice here and the atmosphere is excellent," said Greek fan Dimitris Agrafiotis from Athens.
He and his friends have already spent two weeks in Poland. They followed the Greek squad the entire group phase.
"The accommodation is not the cheapest in the world, I think they organise it here that local businesses are taking advantage of the tournament, but that's fair," Agrafiotis said. "It could be worse, for the Greek people, it's a bit expensive though."

The Polish Tourism board kicked off a new campaign in France on Tuesday, featuring the infamous Polish plumber, in an attempt to counter negative French rhetoric about eastern European workers.
The "Polish plumber" - a symbol of cheap labour - became a catchphrase of the French "No" camp during the referendum on the EU constitution.
Now the Polish Tourism Board is using the character to allay French fears, and hoping to attract visitors at the same time.
Posters of 21 year old model Piotr Adamski, will be splashed over the country, with a slogan reading "I am staying in Poland, come visit."
Pierre Lesquilier, the French president of the commission for the relations with the EU at the National Assembly, believes the campaign will be successful because it is 'funny but serious'.

The statistics speak for themselves... 60,000 prostitutes; 2,500 street children, making it a hub for child pornography; a third of the population in poverty; one of the fastest growing HIV rates in the world; and drug and alcohol abuse rates amongst the highest in eastern Europe.
Video journalist Nick Lazaredes has been investigating Ukraine's underworld and the social problems it's causing. He also meets the people trying to stop the sex trade in the face of violence and lack of interest from the authorities.

Has Ukraine emerged from the former Soviet Union to become the illicit sex tourism capital of Europe?
The statistics speak for themselves... 60,000 prostitutes; 2,500 street children, making it a hub for child pornography; a third of the population in poverty; one of the fastest growing HIV rates in the world; and drug and alcohol abuse rates amongst the highest in eastern Europe.
Video journalist Nick Lazaredes has been investigating Ukraine's underworld and the social problems it's causing. He also meets the people trying to stop the sex trade in the face of violence and lack of interest from the authorities.
Broadcast on Dateline, SBS TV Australia on March 25th, 2010.

Wandering among the endless hills, lakes and mountains of Southeast Poland, one can find cities, medieval castles, grandiose palaces and rich museums, each one more interesting than the previous. The city core of Krakow, with its old streets and squares offer us the feeling of the happy, old days. The Wawel district, which is built on a hill, fort walls and bastions protect the royal palace and the cathedral. The astonishingly great square of the old marketplace is surrounded by medieval houses, and is busy all day and all night. The restaurants tempt the travelers with food prepared from wild mushrooms and berries, game and cabbage. The religious buildings keep the memory of the late Pope, John Paul II. the late Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. From Krakow we can take a trip to the Wieliczka salt mine, to the enchanting medieval trading post, Krosno, and to the Ojcowi National Park, where there are many rivers, castles and caves for us to explore. We can take a look at the symbol of human cruelty, Auschwitz, and take a tour in the Polish Alps. The city of Zakopane awaits those visitors at any season, who would like to take tours, bike, and ski.

Discover Ojcow National Park in Poland
The National park of Ojcow is worth visiting, especially for those spend at least two weeks in can Kraków. The park is only twenty kilometers from the city, were castles, caves, and river valleys framed by hills and forest are waiting to be discovered. Ojcow is the favorite weekend excursion place of the residence of Kraków, so tourists make a better choice if they visit here during the week.
The grill bars and snack bars along the road, which provide the atmosphere of a picnic, are all open it this time also. The twenty one square kilometer national park is easily accessible by bus. Since Poland is traditionally religious catholic country, we can also find places of worship at parks too. This however is not a stone church, but a nicely carve little wooden chapel, opposite the car park. This is the starting point of hikes. From here motor vehicle traffic is not allowed but we can use an environmentally friendly Horse cart. The Horse taxi takes us along a whole row of weekend houses to the ruins of the castle of Ojcow from the fourteenth century.
Many Kraków residences have weekend houses or lots here, where many grow vegetables and fruit as a hobby. They making of Sauerkraut have a long tradition. The cabbage grown in the garden is pickled in barrels or nowadays in clay pots, and use to the making of bigos. The Polish national food inspired the following lines by in this exhibits in the pandowdies. Bigos was on the boil, hard to express in words the wondrous taste, the hue, and gusty of the hunt man stew. Words are clanging symbols rhymes but seared sounds, there substance. The town's man belly will never plum.
To savor lit for songs and visuals, one needs for bust help, country life and the thrill of the hunt. Get even without such seasonings, Bigos is no ordinary dish. It's skillfully prepared of the finniest vegetables. Sauerkraut the based of it fine and tart ala polonace, so toothy as the saying goes, it makes its own way to your lips. Luck within boiler, its simmers in brewed over the choices Morsels of game meat until every ounce of living essence is coax out. Till the steam spouts from the vessels rim and the ambient air becomes steeped with it's exquisite odors. The polish's like nature, excursions, picnics, and out door cooking and roasting.
In the area of the park, besides the castles, some remaining old villas can also be visited. Of the once impressive buildings at the castle of Ojcow, only the pentagonal towers and the gate have remained. Near by there are two museums that we may visit. The local history museum exhibits the regional history, ethnography and traditions but the national park exhibits its rich flora and fauna. In the park or very close to it, we can find four caves to which tourist pass lead. Down there all your round refrigerators like temperature dominate, which means five to seven degrees Celsius.
The log shaped rock rising behind is called Hercules club. In the last third of the ten kilometer long valley, the view of the romantic castles standing on the steep hill opens up. The Piascoes Kaskala was built on the fourteen century to be a royal watch post, and then it became the possession of a Polish Aristocratic family.

STORYLINE:
The picturesque city of Gdansk attracted a wealth of tourists before Euro 2012, but the football tournament boosted revenues of local businesses and exceeded expectations of local organisers as well as fans.
