Agra, the former capital of Hindustan, is a city on the banks of the river Yamuna in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is 363 kilometres west of the state capital, Lucknow, and 200 kilometres south of the national capital New Delhi. It is one of the most populous cities in Uttar Pradesh and the 19th most populous in India. It is a major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Tāj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpūr Sikrī, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Agra can also refer to the administrative district that has its headquarters in Agra city. Nearly five centuries ago, Agra was the commercial nerve centre of Mughal empire. Due to the presence of the Taj Mahal and other historic monuments, it has a tourism industry as well royal crafts like Pietra Dura, marble inlay and carpets. Today 40% of the population depends largely on agriculture, and others on the leather and footwear business and iron foundries. Agra is the second most self-employed in India in 2007, behind Varanasi, followed by Bhopal, Indore and Patna.
Tourism contributes to the economy of Agra. Agra is home to Asia's largest spa called Kaya Kalp -- The Royal Spa, at the Hotel Mughal in Agra. Agra has many industries. Uttar Pradesh's first plant biotech company Harihar Biotech is located near the Taj. Agra city is known for leather goods, carpets, handicrafts, Zari Zardozi, Marvel and stone carving and inlay work. Agra is known for its sweets (Petha and Gajak) and snacks (Dalmoth), garment manufacturers and exporters and an automobile industry. The city center place at Agra (Kinari Bazar) has jewellery and garments shops. The silver and gold jewellery hub is at Choube Ji Ka Fatak. The Shah Market area is an electronics market while Sanjay Place is the trade center of Agra.

King George Tupou V of Tonga - who introduced democracy to the South Pacific archipelago - has died aged 63.
Widely praised for the political change he ushered in after riots following his ascension in 2006, the monarch passed away during a visit to Hong Kong.
Although political reform is not yet complete, his willingness to start is a very significant event.
Akilisi Pohiva, opposition member of parliament
His younger brother and heir to the throne, Crown Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka, was with him in hospital when he died.
The New Zealand government, a major aid donor to Tonga, said he would be remembered for the reforms he brought about.
Prime Minister John Key said in a statement: "He believed that the monarchy was an instrument of change and can truly be seen as the architect of evolving democracy in Tonga. This will be his enduring legacy."
Shortly after Tupou V ascended the throne in 2006, pro-democracy demonstrations turned into riots in which eight people died and large parts of the commercial centre of the capital, Nuku'alofa, were destroyed.
The Oxford-educated king then said he would relinquish most of his power in the last Polynesian monarchy to a broadly popularly elected government after 165 years of feudal rule.
The first elections in which citizens voted for the majority of the seats, outnumbering those elected by nobles, took place in November 2010.
"Although political reform is not yet complete, his willingness to start is a very significant event," opposition member of parliament Akilisi Pohiva told Radio New Zealand International.
Tonga, which comprises 170 islands, has a population of about 100,000 and lies about 1,320 miles northeast of New Zealand.
Its economy is dominated by tourism, fishing, growing crops, and earnings sent back by expatriates.
Tupou V, a flamboyant, bachelor king, was known for eccentricities, such as being driven around in a London taxi and his penchant for ornate and elaborate uniforms and top hats.

With the importance of internet to business communication, especially for isolated Tonga, TBEC's offering of the Internet Marketing Course attracted participants from varied businesses including one from Tonga Post and participants from government ministries (MTCL).
The 3 day Internet Marketing Course, held at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre from Monday 29th July ended yesterday, Wednesday 31st July 2013, on a fun note -- a few tears, laughter and a serious moment. The Acting New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr Peter Shackleton, was there to close the training after presenting certificates to the 18 successful participants. Peter Shackleton said that through TBEC, the "New Zealand Government is happy to help develop Tonga's Economy". TBEC trainer, Mr Warwick McCormack and Cyril Guiramand, TBEC Manager also shared their thoughts with the participants.
Cassandra Moala-Mafi, of Prestige Events & Marketing, who is also part of Women In Sustainable Enterprises, has just attended her 13th training with TBEC and obviously knows what she wants, taking advantage of the great courses that TBEC has to offer. Young people in Business should take a cue from Cassandra and take the opportunity to equip themselves well for the future while it is there for the taking.
The young lady stood up and on behalf of the business she represents, all her fellow participants, TBEC and the nation of Tonga, took a few minutes to thank Peter Shackleton and New Zealand for the great opportunity afforded the people of Tonga through the amazing courses run by TBEC throughout the year.
Other participants also took the time to thank Warwick McCormack for all that they've learned during the course and how they look forward to the one on one follow-up that he will provide for them the rest of this week.
TBEC's September Calendar looks promising with the TBEC Team ready to take bookings for 'Sales Techniques' Course, 'Event Coordination', 'Human Resources' and more
