Pacaya, facil de preparar. las pacayas que yo encuentro aqui en U.S.A vienen en botellas de vidrio. marca Goya.
Ingredientes: una botella de pacayas.
3 huevos, separar la yema de las claras. y sal al gusto.
Escurrirle el agua que vienen en las pacayas.
batir las claras, asta que queden como turron.
ir poniendo la yemas uno por uno y batir. hecharle la sal.
forrar las pacayas con el huevo y freir por los dos lados.

I was SO excited to do this volcano hike during our travels through Guatemala. I reeeally wanted to see lava (LIQUID HOT MAG-MA...tell me you know where this is from), but we found out later that Pacaya volcano and all the other volcanoes in Guatemala haven't been lava-active for a number of years. But despite the lack of lava, hiking Pacaya volcano was such a good day! Definitely one of the more memorable parts of our Guatemala trip, even though I flopped around like a rag doll. Do it!! -Nathalie

Pacaya
Pacaya is an active complex volcano in Guatemala, which first erupted approximately 23,000 years ago and has erupted at least 23 times since the Spanish invasion of Guatemala. Pacaya rises to an elevation of 2,552 metres (8,373 ft). After being dormant for a century, it erupted violently in 1965 and has been erupting continuously since then. Much of its activity is Strombolian, but occasional Plinian eruptions also occur, sometimes showering the area of the nearby Departments with ash.
Pacaya is a popular tourist attraction. Pacaya lies 30 kilometers (19 miles) southwest of Guatemala City and close to Antigua. The volcano sits inside the Escuintla Department.
So far, the last activity reported has been the eruption that peaked on March 2, 2014 causing ash to rain down in Guatemala City, Antigua and Escuintla.
Geological history
The Pacaya volcano is a part of the Central American Volcanic Arc, a chain of volcanoes stretching from the northwest to the southeast along the Pacific coast of Central America, formed by the tectonic subduction of the Cocos Tectonic Plate beneath the Caribbean Plate. Pacaya lies on the southern edge of a sizable volcanic caldera formed in the Pleistocene age which contains Lago de Amatitlán. This caldera has been the source of at least nine very large explosions over the past 300,000 years, erupting a total of about 70 cubic kilometres (17 cu mi) of magma.

Ingredientes: una botella de pacayas. 3 huevos, separar la yema de las claras. y sal al gusto. Escurrirle el agua que vienen en las pacayas. batir las claras, asta que queden como turron. ir poniendo la yemas uno por uno y batir. hecharle la sal. forrar las pacayas con el huevo y freir por los dos lados.

Volcano Pacaya started spewing lava and rocks on Thursday afternoon, covering the Guatemalan capital with ash. 1,600 people have been evacuated from the area. The city's international airport has been shut down and the Guatemalan president has declared a state of emergency.

To be able to enter, you must request permission from INRENA and pay the corresponding fees. Comprising a large part of the provinces of Loreto, Requena, Ucayali, and Alto Amazonas, it has an area of 2'080.000 hectares making it the largest in the country and in South America. Furthermore, there are diverse protection and natural resource management projects like the one aimed at repopulating the taricaya and the charapa river with turtles in the artificial beaches of the reserve. It is truly amazing to watch the final stage of the process, the freeing of the newborns into the rivers, gorges, and lakes of the reserve. The level of involvement of the local population is remarkable. On the edges of Pacaya-Samiria on the banks of the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers, more than 42.000 people live grouped in ninety-four communities and another 50.000 inhabit the 109 villages in the buffer zone. Pacaya--Samiria National Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in Peru with an area of more than 20,000 km², containing a rich eco diversity and being the largest reserve in the country and the second largest in the Amazon region. The reserve is triangular shaped by Marañón and Ucayali River in the South, just before their junction originating the Amazon River. Its main purpose is to preserve the ecosystems of the Omagua Region and to promote the sustainable development of the local towns.
Pacaya Samiria National Reserve
183 km / 114 miles southwest of Iquitos. The shortest route is Iquitos -- Nauta by highway and then a trip on the river from Nauta to the village, Comunity of 20 de Enero, about three to four hours by boat. To be able to enter, you must request permission from INRENA and pay the corresponding fees. Comprising a large part of the provinces of Loreto, Requena, Ucayali, and Alto Amazonas, it has an area of 2'080.000 hectares making it the largest in the country and in South America.
