Has The Republican Party Become America’s Largest Hate Group?

In which John Green teaches you where American politicians come from. In the beginning, soon after the US constitution was adopted, politics were pretty non-existent. George Washington was elected president with no opposition, everything was new and exciting, and everyone just got along. For several months. Then the contentious debate about the nature of the United States began, and it continues to this day. Washington and his lackey/handler Alexander Hamilton pursued an elitist program of federalism. They attempted to strengthen the central government, create a strong nation-state, and leave less of the governance to the states, They wanted to create debt, encourage manufacturing, and really modernize the new nation/ The opposition, creatively known as the anti-federalists, wanted to build some kind of agrarian pseudo-paradise where every (white) man could have his own farm, and live a free, self-reliant life. The founding father who epitomized this view was Thomas Jefferson. By the time Adams became president, the anti-federalists had gotten the memo about how alienating a name like anti-federalist can be. It's so much more appealing to voters if your party is for something rather than being defined by what you're against, you know? In any case, Jefferson and his acolytes changed their name to the Democratic-Republican Party, which covered a lot of bases, and proceeded to protest nearly everything Adams did. Lest you think this week is all boring politics, you'll be thrilled to hear this episode has a Whiskey Rebellion, a Quasi-War, anti-French sentiment, some controversial treaties, and something called the XYZ Affair, which sounds very exciting. Learn all about it this week with John Green.

The Republican Party has one go-to strategy to win elections – HATE. They tell their supporters that they have to hate immigrants, minorities, women, liberals, and the government, because all they know how to do is spread hate. So maybe we need to start calling the GOP a hate group?
Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this with journalist Daniel Denvir.

OPINION: Bernie Sanders is 100% unlikely to win the Democratic nomination. Hillary Clinton is glorified like the "Queen of the Party" among the Democrats. Obviously, she was preselected by the Democratic Party to succeed Barack Hussein Obama as the leading frontrunner since 2008. If Sanders is actually serious about becoming president, he would run as an independent. I think he has a much better chance beating both Hillary and the GOP as an independent candidate.

Welcome to Houston, Texas, one of the largest cities in the United States.
Once an outpost in the Old West, Houston is now a down-to-earth metropolis, boasting a tremendous shipping and energy industry, as well as plenty of culture.
Kick off your Houston tour at Discovery Green, a 12-acre park tucked beneath the city’s skyscrapers. You’ll find public art and plenty of space to picnic or go for walks. Houstoners take pride in their various parks, museums, and open spaces, like the Houston Arboretum, where you can go birdwatching, learn about green living, and hike the trails to explore local wildlife.
Speaking of exploring, your Houston sightseeing should include a trip to the USS Texas., This battleship served in two World Wars and now stands guard as a museum on the Buffalo Bayou. Head over to the Gulf for a walk on the beach while you watch the sunset, then get ready to gear up for the evening with some delicious TexMex shared with the locals. After you lose yourself in a few rounds of line dancing to burn off all those fajitas, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t come to Houston earlier.

Travel video about destination USA - The West.
The west of North America is full of amazing contrast and stretches from the pretentious world of the Hollywood glitterati to a landscape that is both natural and spectacular. This journey features some unique and impressive sights such as the historic rock settlements of the Native American Indians and fascinating salt deserts and volcanic areas.Los Angeles is synonymous with Hollywood and it was here that this amazing city attained worldwide fame. The Sidewalk Of Fame is covered with brass stars that bear the names of famous celebrities of both past and present. Universal Studios is the largest and most active film and television studio in the world as well as providing a popular day out for the family and is one of the most successful amusement parks in the U.S.A. Death Valley covers an area of around ten thousand square kilometres. Around a fifth of the region is located at or below sea-level. During the gold rush of the nineteenth century it was through here that thousands of pioneers took a short cut while journeying west. They eventually arrived in a valley that offered no further way forward. Weakness, hunger and lack of water combined to create the name of this treacherous valley. Las Vegas is like a mirage in the desert, awake day and night it is THE entertainment capital of the world. The Bellagio is a return to the exclusive nature of the casino hotels of the past in which luxury is at its zenith and an investment of nearly two billion dollars speaks for itself. Sixteen hundred metres deep and sixteen kilometres long the Grand Canyon is the most colossal gorge in the world. The sight of this gigantic natural wonder is the climax of any trip to Arizona and each year around five million visitors come to see this, the ‘Eighth Wonder Of The World’. Natural wonders, amazing sights, boundless wealth and incredible neon: America’s west still has the call of the wild!

Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple.
We try our best to cover all of the top attractions including fine arts, entertainment, festivals, dining, architecture and museums as well as focusing on lesser known off the beaten path attractions to cover all forms of tourism. If you only have time to visit only one city in the United States it ought to be NYC, USA:

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. You can ride roller coasters, stroll down the boardwalk, enjoy some beach time, and then head over the Nathan's Famous hot dogs. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. Strawberry Fields is a section of Central Park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world.
The most important places to visit in New York are: Brooklyn Bridge (built in 1883, it is one of the oldest suspension bridges in America and continues to inspire the people of New York City), Wall Street (the bull here makes everyone happy. See where billions are won or lost in seconds), Central Park (one of the world's greatest urban parks. Get involved in an outdoor activity or watch New Yorkers go about their exercise routines), Empire State Building (an American icon, which was built remarkably during the Great Depression. Ride to the top for unmatched city views), Times Square (best experienced at night. First time visitors are simply in awe amidst the bright neon lights), Statue of Liberty (this is one landmark you must visit. The ultimate symbol of New York City).
If you want to save time and money, the most important New York travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Travel video about destination Los Angeles in the United States of America.
Los Angeles is synonymous with Hollywood, and Beverly Hills is its famous suburb with neat parks and blossoming flower beds. There's also the Walk of Fame, Mann's Chinese Theatre and Rodeo Drive, the most exclusive shopping mile in the world.
Everything in Hollywood is different, including a cemetery of the famous. Even in the funeral hall, with its larger-than-life religious figures, it is as though it is all part of a fantastic film set.
Universal Studios is the largest and most active film and television studio in the world as well as a popular family day out, being one of the most successful amusement parks in the U.S.A. and its many famous film sets are instantly recognizable.
Since its opening in 1955, Disneyland has become a worldwide phenomenon. The world's original and longest surviving theme park provides an enchanting mix of shows, attractions and well known cartoon characters and the journey through Toontown on its bumpy tramway is a stimulating experience for both young and old.
At weekends, those who want to see but, above all, be seen, make for Venice Beach. The sandy beach is relaxing and its many pavements are popular with joggers and roller skaters alike. Even by Los Angeles standards, the performers on Muscle Beach are quite outrageous and while some body-builders lift thousands of kilos, others shamelessly display their supreme egos by strutting like conceited peacocks!
Built in 1908, Santa Monica Pier is reminiscent of the hazy lazy seaside resorts of the 1920s. Extending into the water some 300 metres, the pier's amusement park is constantly bursting with life, with its big wheel, swings and richly- decorated carousel.
Once the most celebrated residential area of the rich and famous, today Sunset Boulevard is a busy main traffic artery. At night, when brash neon signs shine out their colorful animated messages, this famous boulevard still possesses a unique atmosphere.
Los Angeles is the enormous multicultural city on America's West Coast in which film stars, earthquakes and joie de vivre are essential to life itself!

With the end of President Obama’s final State of the Union address, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley sought in her Republican Party response to turn the page on his presidency and look towards the future -– one she said would be brighter under a Republican president.
“Soon, the Obama presidency will end, and America will have the chance to turn in a new direction. That direction is what I want to talk about tonight,” she said, speaking from the capital city of Columbia.
Haley said she understood that voters are frustrated with government, but added that Republicans must take some responsibility for that frustration as well as Democrats –- and channel it into meaningful action.
“There is more than enough blame to go around. We as Republicans need to own that truth,” Haley, South Carolina’s first female, non-white governor, said. “We need to accept that we’ve played a role in how and why our government is broken. And then we need to fix it.”
Haley, who noted that she is the daughter of immigrants, also sought to emphasize that the GOP is inclusive of all Americans, making what was perhaps a veiled reference to the more heated comments coming from some Republican candidates and lawmakers about Muslims and other immigrants.
“Today, we live in a time of threats like few others in recent memory. During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation,” she said, speaking from the South Carolina statehouse.
But she did note that Republicans do not believe in “flat out open[ing] our borders.” She also said that the United States shouldn’t admit any refugees with unclear intentions, which has led to some congressional Republicans effectively calling for a pause in the Obama administration’s program to admit 10,000 Syrian refugees.
Haley, who gained national praise for her handling of the aftermath of the mass shooting at a Charleston church, said her party –- and all Americans -– should take a cue from how her state responded to the tragedy, noting that they embraced one another rather than assail each other’s race and religion.
She also referenced the removal of the Confederate flag from near the statehouse –- a move Haley championed which earned her bipartisan praise nationwide.
“We removed a symbol that was being used to divide us, and we found a strength that united us against a domestic terrorist and the hate that filled him,” she said, saying that action represents an important lesson.
“Some people think that you have to be the loudest voice in the room to make a difference. That is just not true. Often, the best thing we can do is turn down the volume. When the sound is quieter, you can actually hear what someone else is saying. And that can make a world of difference.”
While her speech focused on the kind of party the GOP should strive to be, she also stressed the party’s chief principles, including strong Second Amendment rights, lower taxes and an end to the Affordable Care Act – the types of specific policies the Republican Party would pursue under new leadership.

WASHINGTON -- In the Republican response to President Barack Obama's final State of the Union address Tuesday evening, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) sought to undo some of the damage done to the GOP brand by the wave of anti-immigrant rhetoric popularized by real estate mogul Donald Trump.
Haley, a daughter of Indian immigrants, cautioned against demonizing people who yearn to enter the U.S. in hopes of attaining a better life, even amid a wave of anxiety over national security following terror attacks at home and abroad.
"Today, we live in a time of threats like few others in recent memory," Haley said. "During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation. No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country."
However, even as she strove for middle ground by welcoming "properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion," Haley objected to allowing refugees into the U.S. "whose intentions cannot be determined."
Haley's call for calm resembled words spoken by President Barack Obama after he announced last year that his administration would continue accepting Syrian refugees in the wake of the deadly Paris terror attacks. Moreover, the governor appeared to be directly responding to Trump and his army of supporters -- a message Haley may have been expressly selected to deliver by her party.
The current front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination has stoked fears of foreigners by describing Mexican immigrants as rapists, promising to build a wall along the country's southern border and calling for a ban on all Muslims entering the United States. His rhetoric has alarmed the Republican establishment in particular because it could cost the party votes from key moderates and independents during the general election.
Haley made national headlines last year when she called for the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina statehouse grounds following the racially motivated Charleston church shooting in which nine people died. She later called the flag's removal “a real proud moment for South Carolina.”
In her response to the president's State of the Union address on Tuesday, Haley also criticized the president for falling "far short of his soaring words." The governor faulted Obama for nagging wage stagnation, a massive national debt, a health care program "that has made insurance less affordable," and "chaotic unrest in many of our cities."
She signaled that after the president's final year in office, Republicans would have a chance to lower taxes and debt, and to strengthen the military and the country's bonds with international partners.
“We have big decisions to make. Our country is being tested. But we’ve been tested in the past, and our people have always risen to the challenge. We have all the guidance we need to be safe and successful," she said. "Our forefathers paved the way for us. Let’s take their values, and their strengths, and rededicate ourselves to doing whatever it takes to keep America the greatest country in the history of man.”

“As we usher in this new era, Republicans will stand up for our beliefs,” she said.

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Lincoln led the United States through its Civil War—its bloodiest war and its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy.
Born in Hodgenville, Kentucky, Lincoln grew up on the western frontier in Kentucky and Indiana. Largely self-educated, he became a lawyer in Illinois, a Whig Party leader, and a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, in which he served for twelve years. Elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1846, Lincoln promoted rapid modernization of the economy through banks, tariffs, and railroads. Because he had originally agreed not to run for a second term in Congress, and because his opposition to the Mexican–American War was unpopular among Illinois voters, Lincoln returned to Springfield and resumed his successful law practice. Reentering politics in 1854, he became a leader in building the new Republican Party, which had a statewide majority in Illinois. In 1858, while taking part in a series of highly publicized debates with his opponent and rival, Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, Lincoln spoke out against the expansion of slavery, but lost the U.S. Senate race to Douglas.
In 1860, Lincoln secured the Republican Party presidential nomination as a moderate from a swing state. With very little support in the slaveholding states of the South, he swept the North and was elected president in 1860. His victory prompted seven southern slave states to form the Confederate States of America before he moved into the White House - no compromise or reconciliation was found regarding slavery and secession. Subsequently, on April 12, 1861, a Confederate attack on Fort Sumter inspired the North to enthusiastically rally behind the Union in a declaration of war.

The Republican Party has put down the dogwhistle and picked up a megaphone.
After two Bostonians allegedly beat up a homeless Hispanic man in August, one told police he was inspired by Donald Trump’s message that “all these illegals need to be deported.” In response, Trump explained “that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate.” Later, he clarified that in no way, of course, does he condone violence. In June, Trump kicked off his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” and drug-trafficking criminals. “Some, I assume, are good people,” he added.
Last Monday, five people were shot at a Black Lives Matter protest in Minneapolis. Three white men have been arrested in connection with the incident. It is important to emphasize that the investigation is in its very early stages, and it has not been confirmed who did this, or why.
It is, however, clear that leading Republicans have engaged in extraordinarily racist and xenophobic rhetoric that incites and legitimates vigilante violence. On Saturday, Trump fans allegedly attacked a Black Lives Matter protester at a Birmingham rally. “Maybe he should have been roughed up,” Trump said.

The Historic Differences Between the Democratic and Republican Parties (1996)
The Democratic Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Republican Party.
Tracing its origins back to ...
The Democratic Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Republican Party.
Tracing its origins back to the Democratic-Republican Party, the modern Democratic Party was founded around 1828, making it the oldest political party in the world that is still in existence.[10] There have been 15 Democratic presidents, the first being Andrew Jackson, who served from 1829 to 1837; the most recent is the current president, Barack Obama, who has served since 2009.
Since the 1930s, the party has promoted a center-left, social-liberal platform,[3] supporting a mixed economy and social justice.[11] The party's philosophy of modern American liberalism advocates social and economic equality, along with the welfare state.[12] It pursues a mixed economy by providing government intervention and regulation in the economy.[13] These interventions, such as universal health care, labor unions, social programs, equal opportunity, consumer protection, and environmental protection, form the party's economic policy basis.[14]
Until the late 20th century, the party had a conservative pro-business wing based in the major cities and a populist conservative wing based in the rural South. After 1932, the business wing withered and, after 1990, the Southern whites moved into the Republican Party. Today, the Congressional Democratic caucus is composed mostly of progressives and centrists.[15]
In the 114th Congress, following the 2014 elections, the Democratic Party holds a minority of seats in the House of Representatives as well as in the Senate. The party also holds 18 governorships and control of a minority of state legislatures.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_(United_States)
The Republican Party, commonly referred to as the GOP (abbreviation for Grand Old Party), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, the other being its historic rival the Democratic Party.
Founded by anti-slavery activists and members of the Whig Party in 1854, the Republicans dominated politics nationally and in most of the northern U.S. for most of the period between 1860 and 1932. There have been 18 Republican U.S. presidents, the first being Abraham Lincoln, who served from 1861 until his assassination in 1865, and the most recent being George W. Bush, who served two full four-year terms from 2001 to 2009. The most recent Republican presidential nominee was former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney who lost in 2012.
The party's platform is generally based on American conservatism,[8][9][10] in contrast to the contemporary American liberalism of the rival Democratic Party. The Republican Party's conservatism involves supporting free market capitalism, limited government, strong national defense, opposing regulation and labor unions, and supporting socially conservative policies.[2] The party is generally split on the issue of how to deal with illegal immigration.[11]
In the 114th U.S. Congress, the Republicans have their largest majority in the U.S. House of Representatives since the 1928 election; Republicans also hold a majority of seats in the Senate.[12] The party also holds a majority of governorships and state legislatures.[13] Specifically, 68 out of 98 partisan state legislative chambers have Republican majorities.

Tonight Face Off: Round 2 Prime Time: Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, George Bush, Carly Fiorina, Chris Christie, John Kasich, Rand Paul. 2016 Presidential Debate Round 1 Undercard: Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Lindsey Graham, George Pataki. . CNN, Republican, Debate.
Stage set for final GOP debate of 2015
Washington (CNN)Nine candidates will appear in prime-time Tuesday night for the final Republican presidential primary debate of 2015, a critical event that will help shape the contest heading into the Iowa caucuses.
Businessman Donald Trump, the front-runner for the nomination, will again be center stage flanked by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson on his right and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on his left, CNN announced Sunday. The six remaining participants in the prime time contest will be Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, businesswoman Carly Fiorina, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
Four candidates: former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and former New York Gov. George Pataki will appear in the first debate on Tuesday evening.
It will be a return for Christie to the prime-time stage after failing to qualify for the Fox Business prime-time debate last month. Christie has seen a resurgence in recent weeks, particularly in New Hampshire, a key state for his campaign.
Paul, who was in danger of being removed from the main stage, was saved at the 11th hour by showing viability in Iowa in a Fox News poll released Sunday morning.
Podium order was determined by the average of the national polls from November and December.
RELATED: CNN Republican presidential debate criteria announced
CNN's debate, which will be held in Las Vegas and is the fifth of the primary season, is the first to use early-state polls as a way to make the main event in prime-time. Candidates must meet one of three criteria in polls conducted between October 29 and December 13 and recognized by CNN: An average of at least 3.5% nationally; at least 4% in Iowa; or at least 4% in New Hampshire.
Along with Christie, Fiorina and Kasich qualified for the primetime debate because of their New Hampshire average.
CNN considered live interviewer national and state surveys by: ABC News, Bloomberg News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, Gallup, Marist University, McClatchy News Service, Monmouth News Service, NBC News, The New York Times, Pew Research Center, Quinnipiac University, Time, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Des Moines Register, the University of New Hampshire, WBUR and WMUR.
The debate will be moderated by Wolf Blitzer, with CNN's Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash joining Salem Radio Network talk show host Hugh Hewitt as questioners.

With the Republican Party in a state of turmoil following Mitt Romney's loss three weeks ago, we begin today's show with a guest who was once one of the most influential Republican strategists. In 1969 Kevin Phillips wrote the groundbreaking book, "The Emerging Republican Majority." Newsweek described the book as the "political bible of the Nixon administration." After a series of best-selling books on the Bush family, Wall Street and the American theocracy, Phillips is looking back at the roots of the American Revolution in his new book, "1775: A Good Year for Revolution." "What happened that set the United States in motion in the mid 1770s is still relevant in some ways because what it showed was that you sometimes have to have a lot of very disagreeable politics to make progress. That you don't get anywhere by having all kinds of nice slogans and by trying to barter every difference with a cliche and pretend thats all's well and the United States is in wonderful shape," Phillips says. "The United States is not in wonderful shape and it needs to get back some of that spunk that it had when people were willing to talk very bluntly about harsh and tough measures."

wn.com/Former Gop Strategist Kevin Phillips On Roots Of American Revolution, Future Of US Politics
Visit http://www.democracynow.org to watch more reports on Democracy Now!, an independent, global news hour that airs weekdays on 1,100+ TV and radio stations.

A lovefest for Donald Trump in Birch Run, Mich. Trump attacks
BIRCH RUN, Mich. — Addressing about 2,000 very enthusiastic people at the Birch Run Expo Center, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump touched on everything from immigration, China, the military, Obamacare and his Republican opponents.
The crowd, some coming from outside of Michigan, ate it up, giving him frequent standing ovations and breaking into chants of "Trump, Trump, Trump!" and "U.S.A, U.S.A."
"I love people, I love this country. We are going to make it so strong and so powerful," he said. "You are going to love a President Trump."
Trump brought his campaign to Michigan Tuesday after several days of media attention focused on his statements about women and Latinos.
Tuesday's event was sponsored by the Saginaw and Genesee county Republican parties and attendees paid $25 for a chance to hear Trump in person. VIP seating went for $125.
His criticisms were many: Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush made a fatal mistake with a remark on how much needs to be spent on women's health issues; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is nice, but the surpluses in his state, not so much; former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's e-mails are going to sink her campaign and she's controlled by lobbyists; Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry are sinking in the polls after criticizing him; the media are "scavengers," and Ford Motor Company is making a huge mistake by deciding to build a $2.5-billion plant in Mexico, rather than in the United States.
"Mexico is killing us on trade. This is going to make Detroit look like small potatoes. They're taking our factories and building these massive plants in Mexico ... Why don't we just let the illegals drive the cars and trucks across the border into our country," Trump said, acknowledging his presence in a automotive manufacturing state. "The deal is not going to be approved, I want that plant to be built here."
He said he'll build up the military, get rid of Obamacare, scuttle the Iran nuclear deal and compared his run for residency to his television show "The Apprentice," noting people were skeptical about the show, but it went on be hugely successful.
"I made them a fortune," he said, adding NBC hates him because they wanted to renew the show, but he decided to run for president instead.
And despite leading in the polls, Trump told reporters he won't give up the option of running as a third party candidate.
"I want to run as a Republican, but I’m going to keep the door open," he said. "I was part of the establishment two months ago. I was a big giver, but once I decided to run, all of a sudden, I'm anti-establishment ... As long as I'm treated fairly and fairly is an instinct. I know what fair is.."
Prior to the rally, Trump made himself available to reporters and photographers . He said that despite his controversial comments regarding Mexican immigrants and women, he'll get their support.
Speaking to reporters before his speech, he said: "We’re going to do very well with the Hispanic vote. We’re going to do really well with the women vote. I’ll be creating a tremendous number of jobs. And on women health issues, I’m for that."
When asked to give specifics about the issues of the day -- creating jobs and improving the economy -- Trump said he has to remain flexible. And he said he's proven himself by getting two development projects, one in Miami, and the Old Post Office building on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C.Trump brought his campaign to become the Republican nominee for president to Michigan Tuesday. After the news conference he addressed supporters at the Birch Run Expo Center.
"You're going to see lots of plans from me," he said. "I got (the two development projects) because I know how to get things done. The most sought after property and Trump got it."
Trump's visit to Michigan — his first since speaking to Oakland County Republicans in 2013 — comes after a week of controversy starting with his debate performance in Cleveland and finishing up with controversial comments slamming the Fox News hosts who moderated the debate. He is still maintaining a substantial lead in the polls of the 17 GOP candidates for president.
