Ruf Automobile GmbH is a German car manufacturer. Ruf vehicles are derived from unmarked Porsche chassis, specifically known as a Body in white. Through these fundamental platforms, RUF design and engineer its own original vehicles. Considering the cars are built from these bare chassis, and thereby assembled using Ruf-made parts and materials, (e.g. CTR2, RT12), instead of badge engineering, the company is officially recognized as a manufacturer by the German government. As such, all RUF models have certified Ruf VIN and serial numbers, and are recognized as production models, as opposed to modified Porsches. Ruf is historically known for its record breaking 1987 CTR Yellowbird, and is the largest, most renowned company to make Porsche performance enhancements. Though primarily a manufacturer, Ruf has also made a name for itself operating as a car tuner, a specialist in customer-requested Porsche to Ruf conversions (e.g. Turbo R conversions) and as a restorer of classic Porsche and Ruf models. Ruf carries out service and crash repair, as well.
This 2007 RUF RGT is one of 2 997 based RGT's in the States. This car was the 997 GT3 before Porsche released the GT3, with even more awesomeness than the GT3. This car has bolt on fender flares, carbon fiber doors, hood, deck lid, mirrors and more, along with a 3.9 liter engine tuned by Sharkwerks to produce 480 horsepower. Everything else on this car screams track car...from the Brembo brakes to the rock hard suspension and amazing 6-speed manual transmission.

Today, we've got something special on the test track. The RUF people seem to have no respect. They take this car -- a brand new turbo -- take the engine out, shift the axis back 30 centimetres and put the engine back in at 180 degrees and transform it from a rear engine to a mid-mounted engine. Why? So that it takes bends faster. Whether that works or not is what we want to find out here at the Lausitzring.

Ruf cars are very cool, and very rare. Considered a separate manufacturer entirely from Porsche, on which their cars are clearly based, their cars feature radical powertrain changes and big speeds. The 993 BTR-2 is a narrow-bodied Porsche Carrera with a single turbo engine making more power than Porsche's own Twin Turbo 911 at the time. This is a very rare car in the US, and it's a wonderful treat to take it for a spin.

RUF 993 BTR-2 - One Take
Ruf cars are very cool, and very rare. Considered a separate manufacturer entirely from Porsche, on which their cars are clearly based, their cars feature radical powertrain changes and big speeds. The 993 BTR-2 is a narrow-bodied Porsche Carrera with a single turbo engine making more power than Porsche's own Twin Turbo 911 at the time. This is a very rare car in the US, and it's a wonderful treat to take it for a spin. Today, we've got something special on the test track. The RUF people seem to have no respect. They take this car -- a brand new turbo -- take the engine out, shift the axis back 30 centimetres and put the engine back in at 180 degrees and transform it from a rear engine to a mid-mounted engine. Why? So that it takes bends faster. Whether that works or not is what we want to find out here at the Lausitzring.

Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, one of the world’s most notorious criminals, is demanding his day in court saying his next US court hearing must be in person and not by video link, Agence-FrancePress reported Tuesday. Judge Brian Cogan last week ordered Guzman, 59, who escaped from prison twice in Mexico, appear by video link for the brief procedural hearing to "minimize disruption from physical transportation.”....
