The M9 has been in service now for over 25 years and in that same period of time many new gun makers and model have emerge mostly driven by the civilian market and their need to protect their home and business in this tough economic times.
With the introduction of many new firearms designs the Army is looking to replace their aging Beretta platform for something new and up to date to keep up with the changing times.
The M9 has serve our military well for many years but through those years there has been many issues with the same that the military wishes to address with this new service pistol program.
The limitations the new pistol must overcome include:
• The slide-mounted safety. When solders rack the slide to alleviate a jam or stovepipe in the M9, they often inadvertently engage the safety — and won't realize this until they reacquire and squeeze the trigger.
• The open-slide design, which allow contaminants and dirt into the system.
• The lack of a modular grip, integrated rail and night-sight capabilities.
• The inability to suppress.
• Limited service life — replacement should have a service life of at least 25,000 rounds.

WASHINGTON - Oshkosh Corp won the $6.75 billion contract to build 17,000 light tactical vehicles to replace the aging Humvees used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, the U.S. Army announced today. Oshkosh beat out a team made up of Lockheed Martin Corp and Britain's BAE Systems as well as AM General, a privately held company that built the original Humvees, the Army said in a statement. The U.S Military plans to replace a total of 55,000 vehicles over time, which could drive the value of the contract win to over $30 billion.

The New Armies (Traditional Chinese: 新軍, Simplified Chinese: 新军; Pinyin: Xīnjūn, Manchu: Ice cooha) were the modernized Qing armies, trained and equipped according to Western standards. The first of the new armies was founded in 1895, following Japan's victory in the First Sino-Japanese War.
On December 8, 1895, Empress Dowager Cixi appointed Yuan Shikai the commander of the 4,000 men who formed the basis of the first New Army. Further expanded to 7,000, this New Army became the most formidable of the three army groups stationed near Beijing and proved effective against the Boxers in Shandong province. Yuan showed his loyalty to the Qing court, albeit little more than symbolically, by committing a detachment to relieve Beijing from foreign hands.
The New Army was gradually expanded and upgraded in the following years. Yuan became increasingly disrespectful of the dynasty and only loyal to the party from which he benefited; his defection to Cixi against Guangxu Emperor was a major blow to the Hundred Days Reform. After 1900, Yuan's troops were the only militia that the Qing court could rely on amidst revolutionary uprisings throughout China.

Next Future : Most Advanced Helicopters of U.S Army - Full Documentary
Future Vertical Lift (FVL) is a program to develop a family of helicopters for the United States Armed Forces. Four different sizes of aircraft are to be developed. They are to share common hardware such as sensors, avionics, engines, and countermeasures. FVL is meant to develop a replacement for the Army's UH-60 Black Hawk, AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook, and OH-58 Kiowa helicopters. The precursor for FVL is the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) helicopter program, which will provide technology demonstrations planned for 2017. The Army plans to acquire as many as 4,000 aircraft from the FVL program. The M9 has been in service now for over 25 years and in that same period of time many new gun makers and model have emerge mostly driven by the civilian market and their need to protect their home and business in this tough economic times.
With the introduction of many new firearms designs the Army is looking to replace their aging Beretta platform for something new and up to date to keep up with the changing times.
The M9 has serve our military well for many years but through those years there has been many issues with the same that the military wishes to address with this new service pistol program.
The limitations the new pistol must overcome include:
• The slide-mounted safety. When solders rack the slide to alleviate a jam or stovepipe in the M9, they often inadvertently engage the safety — and won't realize this until they reacquire and squeeze the trigger.
• The open-slide design, which allow contaminants and dirt into the system.
• The lack of a modular grip, integrated rail and night-sight capabilities.
• The inability to suppress.
• Limited service life — replacement should have a service life of at least 25,000 rounds.

The Army begins its transition to new combat uniforms in a month, the Army said Monday, but soldiers can expect a lot of mixing and matching of camo items for the next several years.
The uniforms with the Army's new operational camouflage pattern — and nine design changes — are on track to start appearing in "exchanges" (stores) July 1. The uniform will become the new normal after a four-year transitional phase designed to save the Army and soldiers money.
"We're going to transition over time," said Col. Robert Mortlock, Army program manager of soldier protection and individual equipment. "That's to relieve the burden to our soldiers initially, but it also allows us to make maximum use of our residual stocks."
Through Sept. 30, 2019, soldiers stationed at a military post will have three different authorized uniforms:
Army combat uniforms with the gray-green universal camouflage pattern.
Flame-resistant Army combat uniforms using multi-cam, which has been issued to deploying soldiers since 2010.

Future Vertical Lift (FVL) is a program to develop a family of helicopters for the United States Armed Forces. Four different sizes of aircraft are to be developed. They are to share common hardware such as sensors, avionics, engines, and countermeasures. FVL is meant to develop a replacement for the Army's UH-60 Black Hawk, AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook, and OH-58 Kiowa helicopters. The precursor for FVL is the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) helicopter program, which will provide technology demonstrations planned for 2017. The Army plans to acquire as many as 4,000 aircraft from the FVL program.
The U.S. Navy is a partner to the Army on the effort, so a derivative of FVL may be used in the Navy's MH-XX program to replace the service's MH-60S/R helicopters.
The Army wants to reinvent the very idea of rotorcraft, with a new propulsion concept. After the flight tests and technology development, JMR will end and a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued open to all companies to begin the projected $100 billion FVL effort. Demonstrators developed under JMR will be "X-planes" to demonstrate some key technologies, but they won't have production-representative engines or real mission systems architecture; JMR will show off technologies to enable Army rotary-wing aviation to make the next leap in speed, lift, protection, and interoperability under FVL for the 2030s. The program is intentionally slow paced to avoid past program failures.
Although requirements are still being refined, the notional concept for a new aircraft must reach speeds of 230 kn (260 mph; 430 km/h), carry up to 12 troops, operate in "high-hot" conditions at altitudes of 6,000 ft (1,800 m) and temperatures of 95-degrees Fahrenheit, and have a combat radius of 424 km (263 mi) with an overall unrefueled range of 848 km (527 mi).
