De reclamemuziek van Caraco ijs werd gemaakt door de bekende Zaanse Surinaams-Nederlandse formatie 'Dutch Rhythm Steel and Show Band'.
De band weet tropische hits te scoren in binnen- en buitenland. In 1970-1971 toert de groep al door Duitsland, treedt op tijdens jet-set feesten, en is te zien op de nationale Duitse TV.
In 1973 wordt in Duitsland de eerste LP 'Limbo for lovers' uitgebracht als 'Trinidad Oil Company Steelband'. In het buitenland wordt de groep door de Duitse tourmanager gepresenteerd als een formatie uit Trinidad waardoor hogere gages bedongen kunnen worden.
In kikkerland Nederland wordt nog mondjesmaat opgetreden. In 1974 verwerft de band een platencontract in Nederland en verschijnt de eerste single 'Down by the river', een compositie van Neil Young. De singles 'Down by the river en 'Theme from Shaft worden internationale hits. In de begin jaren '70 is de groep ook te horen in een reclame van Caraco ijs.
Eind jaren zeventig werkt de band samen met producer Frank Farian (oa Boney M en Milli Vanilli). Farian produceert de single 'Ride your pony' (1979). Het ijsmerk uit Hellendoorn ging in 1980 samenwerken met Unilever en in 1985 werd het merk zelfs geheel overgenomen. In 1996 besloot Unilever het merk van de markt te halen om de focus op Ola te leggen. Ook het merk Davino werd door Unilever van de markt gehaald.

A caraco is a style of woman's jacket that was fashionable from the mid-18th to early 19th centuries. Caracos were thigh-length and opened in front, with tight, three-quarter or long sleeves. Like gowns of the period, the back of the caraco could be fitted to the waist or could hang in pleats from the shoulder in a "sack-back". Caracos were generally made of printed linen or cotton.
The caraco emerged as an informal style in France in the 1760s, based on working-class jackets. It was worn with a petticoat and, if open in front, a stomacher or decorative stays. The English caraco was generally closed in front. A similar garment with a wrap front, called in English a bedgown or short gown, was the standard working woman's costume of the later 18th century.

De reclamemuziek van Caraco ijs werd gemaakt door de bekende Zaanse Surinaams-Nederlandse formatie 'Dutch Rhythm Steel and Show Band'.
De band weet tropische hits te scoren in binnen- en buitenland. In 1970-1971 toert de groep al door Duitsland, treedt op tijdens jet-set feesten, en is te zien op de nationale Duitse TV.
In 1973 wordt in Duitsland de eerste LP 'Limbo for lovers' uitgebracht als 'Trinidad Oil Company Steelband'. In het buitenland wordt de groep door de Duitse tourmanager gepresenteerd als een formatie uit Trinidad waardoor hogere gages bedongen kunnen worden.
In kikkerland Nederland wordt nog mondjesmaat opgetreden. In 1974 verwerft de band een platencontract in Nederland en verschijnt de eerste single 'Down by the river', een compositie van Neil Young. De singles 'Down by the river en 'Theme from Shaft worden internationale hits. In de begin jaren '70 is de groep ook te horen in een reclame van Caraco ijs.
Eind jaren zeventig werkt de band samen met producer Frank Farian (oa Boney M en Milli Vanilli). Farian produceert de single 'Ride your pony' (1979). Het ijsmerk uit Hellendoorn ging in 1980 samenwerken met Unilever en in 1985 werd het merk zelfs geheel overgenomen. In 1996 besloot Unilever het merk van de markt te halen om de focus op Ola te leggen. Ook het merk Davino werd door Unilever van de markt gehaald.
