So what we want to do today is give you some nice helpful hints on how to properly execute a three-point turn, or as it's sometimes referred to a K-turn. It can come under different wording for it, a three-point turn, a K-turn, even a broken U-turn. Same thing though.
What you're going to do is you're going to pick a place to stop and you're going to pull over and you're going to stop alongside the curb on the right side. Okay? When you do that, you need to signal, of course, before you pull over and stop.
Once you're here at the curb, the object of this is to take the vehicle, bring it across to the other side of the street. Of course, you don't hit the curb on the other side. Once you get to the other side, you then have to go into reverse. Make sure you're looking. You're looking left, you're looking back, and you're looking to the right side of the car, and then you turn the wheel to the right and back the car up, giving you enough room so that at the end of this you can swing out and go back on the road way in the opposite direction of which you came.
The reason why the terminology K-turn comes into effect is that it isn't done all in one maneuver. You have to take the car from this curb, bring it across to the other and stop. Again, throwing it in to reverse. Look left, look right, look back. Back up a little bit. Give yourself some room. Then go back to drive. Look again to our left and our right. And then finally we finish by going back on the roadway in the opposite direction from which we came.
Looking is crucial on this. For each section of the broken U-turn, you have to make sure you look left, right, and back before you can safely move your car. So there you go. Those are some very helpful hints on how to properly execute a three-point turn.

The turn in the road is probably most peoples favourite practical driving test manoeuvre/maneuver. In this video we will show you the easiest way how to do a turn in the road within three turns using forward and reverse gears, without hitting the kerb and whilst looking out for other road users. Making it driving test standard and safe.
Once the step-by-step tutorial of the 3 point turn is over we then recap and show you it once more exactly how it should be done. These driving test tips will hopefully help.
Basic instructions on how to do a turn a road (3 point turn):
In first gear. Check all around your car, including the blind spot. Once it's safe, start to drive forward and immediately steer full-lock (maximum) to the right. As you approach the kerb on the other side of the road then steer a little to the left (this will help for the reversing part). Make sure that you are observing around for other road users as you do this. Keep in mind that the camber of the road will affect the speed of your car.
Once you stop. Use your handbrake, change into reverse gear and observe all around your car (especially over your left shoulder out the back window). Stop if any other road user approaches you. Once it's safe and you have the biting point, release the handbrake and steer full-lock to the left. Observe around constantly. As you approach the kerb then steer right a little (this helps for the final going forward). Stop before touching the kerb, handbrake on and observe for others.
Once it's safe, in first gear, release handbrake and steer back round to the right.
Remember your reference points when to stop on the turn in the road. The first one will be when the right hand door mirror goes above the kerb. When you reverse the kerb will disappear in the right hand door pillar (these reference points can vary slightly).
Keep a look out for road users as you do the turn in the road. Make sure that you stop near a kerb if anyone approaches nearby.
Following this step-by-step tutorial on the turn in the road will result in you easily passing this part of your UK practical driving test!

3 turn
A 3 turn is a figure skating element which involves both a change in direction and a change in edge. For example, when a skater executes a forward outside 3 turn, the skater begins on a forward outside edge and finishes on a backwards inside edge. There are eight 3 turns in all: one for each possible combination of direction (forward or backward), skating foot (left or right), and edge (inside or outside).
The turn is named for the tracing that it makes on the ice. Each edge makes a curve, and the change of edge in between them is marked by a point. It looks roughly like the numeral three.
Three turns are considered basic turns in figure skating. Along with mohawk turns, they are the first turns learned by beginning skaters, and the most common way for skaters to change direction. Three turns can also be used as the common entrance to a toe loop jump and the flip jump.

Three-point turn
The three-point turn (sometimes called a Y-turn, K-turn, or broken U-turn) is the standard method of turning a vehicle around to face the opposite direction in a limited space, using forward and reverse gears. This is typically done when the road is too narrow for a U-turn.
Demonstrating this manoeuvre is commonly required in a driving test.
Process
The basic manoeuvre consists of driving across the road turning towards the offside kerb, reversing across the road to the original nearside kerb while turning, and driving forward towards the original offside kerb, now the nearside. In a narrow road or with a longer vehicle, more than three legs may be required to achieve a full 180 degree rotation.
Naming
"Three point turn" is the formal name in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and in many regions of the United States. Less common terms are: "Y-turn","K-turn", and Broken U-turn but in the UK and Ireland, the official name is "Turning in the road (using forward and reverse gears)" - because an acceptable turn may include more than three points.

Driving School
Driving School is a docusoap that was broadcast on BBC One in the summer of 1997, which followed a group of learner drivers around Bristol and South Wales. Made on a reduced budget but shown in primetime, it created one of the first reality TV stars in Maureen Rees.
It was narrated by Quentin Willson, who would later present the similar Britain's Worst Driver.
Maureen Rees
Welsh cleaner Maureen Rees became a household name in Britain after spending hundreds of pounds on lessons and failing the practical test several times. She failed to pass the test another two times during the series as well as the much easier written exam known in the UK as the theory test.
Maureen's memorable moments include moving into the overtaking lane of a dual carriageway in the path of an overtaking car, and accidentally running over husband Dave's foot.
She eventually passed in the last episode in an automatic, though after the series finished she passed a manual test. Maureen became quite a celebrity and even released a single: her cover of Madness' "Driving in My Car" reached #50 in the UK Singles Chart, and fronted a government awareness campaign to increase road awareness.

This 'Turn in the Road' manoeuvre is most commonly referred to as the '3 point turn'. The turn in the road involves all core driving skills, coordination, effective observations, vehicle handling and clutch control. Your driving instructor should give you all the necessary practice needed to achieve this manoeuvre under differing traffic conditions and varying locations. Once you get to the other side, you then have to go into reverse. Make sure you're looking. You're looking left, you're looking back, and you're looking to the right side of the car, and then you turn the wheel to the right and back the car up, giving you enough room so that at the end of this you can swing out and go back on the road way in the opposite direction of which you came.
The reason why the terminology K-turn comes into effect is that it isn't done all in one maneuver. You have to take the car from this curb, bring it across to the other and stop. Again, throwing it in to reverse. Look left, look right, look back. Back up a little bit. Give yourself some room. Then go back to drive. Look again to our left and our right. And then finally we finish by going back on the roadway in the opposite direction from which we came.
Looking is crucial on this. For each section of the broken U-turn, you have to make sure you look left, right, and back before you can safely move your car. So there you go. Those are some very helpful hints on how to properly execute a three-point turn.

In this video we will show you the easiest way how to do a turn in the road within three turns using forward and reverse gears, without hitting the kerb and whilst looking out for other road users. Basic instructions on how to do a turn a road (3 point turn):
In first gear. Check all around your car, including the blind spot. Once it's safe, start to drive forward and immediately steer full-lock (maximum) to the right. As you approach the kerb on the other side of the road then steer a little to the left (this will help for the reversing part). Make sure that you are observing around for other road users as you do this. Keep in mind that the camber of the road will affect the speed of your car.
Once you stop. Use your handbrake, change into reverse gear and observe all around your car (especially over your left shoulder out the back window). Stop if any other road user approaches you. Once it's safe and you have the biting point, release the handbrake and steer full-lock to the left. Observe around constantly. As you approach the kerb then steer right a little (this helps for the final going forward). Stop before touching the kerb, handbrake on and observe for others.
Once it's safe, in first gear, release handbrake and steer back round to the right.
Remember your reference points when to stop on the turn in the road. The first one will be when the right hand door mirror goes above the kerb. When you reverse the kerb will disappear in the right hand door pillar (these reference points can vary slightly).
Keep a look out for road users as you do the turn in the road. Make sure that you stop near a kerb if anyone approaches nearby.
Following this step-by-step tutorial on the turn in the road will result in you easily passing this part of your UK practical driving test!
