20 things to do in Belfast Travel Guide | Top Attractions Travel Video Transcript:
Well hello from Northern Ireland. This week we are traveling around Belfast and we only have three days in the capital so we're going to try and cover as much ground as we possibly can and show you some of the highlights.
The RMS Titanic was the largest ship afloat at the time it entered service, and it was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. The Titanic Belfast exhibition, tells the stories of the Titanic's ill-fated maiden voyage in 1912 and it is one of the top attractions in the city.
Right now we're on board the SS Nomadic, the little sister of the Titanic, and we're going to take a full tour of the ship.
The SS Nomadic was a steamship built as a tender to the RMS Titanic. It was her job to ferry passengers, baggage, and supplies to and from the shore.
Next up we are heading inside St George's Market, which we've been told is more than just a farmer's market. Apparently, aside from buying food there you can catch some live shows, go shopping for vintage items, jewelry. So we're going to head inside and see what it is like. And it is only open on the weekends.
Queen's University Belfast is one of the oldest universities in the United Kingdom. It also happens to have a really nice campus, so we decided to take a little stroll.
The Botanic Gardens first opened as a private garden in 1828, and for many years the public only had access on Sundays. Today anyone can visit and it's a beautiful place to walk around, especially if you luck out with sunshine.
So if you take a look at my pint over here you might be thinking I'm having Guinness. It does look a lot like Guinness but in fact it is Belfast Black. And I have to say it tastes just as good if not better.
For 360 degree views of Belfast, we recommend going to Victoria Square Shopping Centre, and riding the elevator up to the dome. This will give you a nice bird's eye view of Belfast.
So to wrap things up here in Belfast I'm going to mention three things I really liked about the city.
First off it is highly affordable. One of the best bargains you can get is a day pass for the bus. It's really cheap and it allows you to travel anywhere in the city unlimited usage.
Secondly, this is a very friendly city. Almost anytime we brought out a map we had a local coming up to offer help. And we just found that whenever we took taxi rides or were in restaurants locals really went the extra distance to make us feel welcome here.
And lastly this is a very walk-able city. Most of the attractions are clustered in the downtown area and you can reach most of them by foot.
And that's it for our quick trip to Belfast! As you can probably see, our visit was fairly short so we didn't get to do it all. If you have any suggestions of other sights and attractions worth checking out around Belfast, feel free to share those in the comments below.
This is part of our Travel in Northern Ireland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Irish culture, Irish arts, Irish foods, Irish religion, Irish cuisine and Irish people.

Welcome to Belfast Castle, a striking former home perched atop the rolling green hills of Cavehill County Park.
When you tour Belfast Castle, you’ll learn that the structure is actually the third castle to bear that moniker. The original Belfast Castle was constructed by the Normans in the 12th century; Sir Arthur Chichester built a replacement over its bones in the 1600s. That building burned down in 1708, and this version did not begin construction until 1811. It took over 60 years to finish the third incarnation of Belfast Castle, with the final bricks being laid in 1870.
Anyone sightseeing at Belfast Castle will notice its striking sandstone walls, which give the castle its distinctive reddish-brown hue. Meander through the quiet, peaceful gardens, and stop to snap some photos of downtown Belfast and the stunning Belfast Lough. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant, or just share a quiet cup of tea with some traveling companions.
After a day of tourism at Belfast Castle, head into Belfast proper for a pint at a pub, or wander through the art collections at Ulster Museum. Don’t forget to spend a few hours in the Botanic Gardens, which are sure to dazzle you.

50 Things to do in London Travel Guide | Top Attractions London City Guide Transcript:
So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years and it is actually Sam's very first time here. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London. So let's get started.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city - just make sure you don't go on a foggy day.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year, however, that's something that you need to plan months in advance.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames. Though this castle served many purposes, it's mainly remembered for its use as a prison in the 16th and 17th centuries.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do in London that you'd like to share with other travellers, feel free to include those in the comments below.

Next time you visit Northern Ireland, take a few hours to tour Mount Stewart Gardens House.
Located just a few miles from Newtownards, this 100-acre state has had several prominent owners through the decades; it was the home of the Marquesses of Londonderry until the house was given to the National Trust in the 1970s. The house, constructed between 1820 and 1839, looks quite intimidating with its columns and stone construction, but its exterior has been softened by the addition of rare plants, rippling lakes, and walking paths. Most Mount Stewart Gardens House sightseeing involves taking a quiet stroll through its sprawling gardens, spending time with your loved ones, and marveling at the beauty of nature.

Public domain film from the Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied.
The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original).

Ulster County is a county located in the state of New York, USA. It sits in the state's Mid-Hudson Region of the Hudson Valley. In the 2010, the population was 182,493. The county seat is the city of Kingston. A part of the New York metropolitan area, the county is named for the Irish province of Ulster...
The area of present day Ulster County was called Esopus by the Dutch settlers: it was then part of the New Netherland Colony. In 1652 Thomas Chambers, a freeholder from Rensselearwyck, purchased land at Esopus and began trading there. In 1654 Johan de Hulter, owner of 20% of the Killian van Rensselaer Company was granted a patent, together with the patents of Christoffel Davids, and Jacob Jansen Stoll, this supplies evidence of the first permanent settlement, that grows into the village of Wiltwijck, later: Kingston. In 1683, the Duke of York created twelve counties in his province. Ulster County was one of them. Its boundaries at that time included the present Sullivan County, and portions of the present Delaware, Orange, and Greene Counties.
In 1777, the capital of New York State (the first state capital of independent New York) was established at Kingston, though it was subsequently moved to Kerhonkson[1] when the British burned that city.
In 1797, portions of Otsego and Ulster Counties were split off to create Delaware County.
In 1798, the southernmost towns in Ulster County were moved into Orange County, to compensate Orange for breaking away the southernmost portion of that county in order to form Rockland County.
In 1800, portions of Albany and Ulster Counties were split off to create Greene County.
In 1809, Sullivan County was split off from Ulster County.
During the American Civil War volunteers were recruited from the more affluent families of the County to form the 139th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
Geography
Ulster County is in the southeast part of New York State, south of Albany, immediately west of the Hudson River. Much of the county is within the Catskill Mountains and the Shawangunk Ridge. Ulster County has Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Preserve, Sundown State Park, VerNooykill State Forest, Witches Hole State Forest, and Shawangunk Ridge State Forest and Sam's Point Preserve, which includes rare dwarf pine trees and VerKeerderkill falls.
The highest point is Slide Mountain, at approximately 4,180 feet (1,270 m) above sea level. The lowest point is sea level along the Hudson River.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,161 square miles (3,010 km2), of which, 1,126 square miles (2,920 km2) of it is land and 34 square miles (88 km2) of it is water. The total area is 2.95% water.
The New York State Thruway Interstate 87 runs north--south through the county, carrying traffic to and from New York City and its surroundings...
As of the census of 2009, there were 181,440 people, 67,499 households, and 43,536 families residing in the county. The population density was 158 people per square mile (61/km²). There were 77,656 housing units at an average density of 69 per square mile (27/km²). The racial makeup of the county, as of 2008, was 83.2% White, 6.50% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.15% from other races, and 1.70% from two or more races. 7.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 19.2% were of Italian, 16.8% Irish, 15.5% German, 6.8% English, and 4.7% American ancestry according to Census 2000. 90.3% spoke English, 4.5% Spanish, 1.2% Italian, and 1.0% German as their first language...
The median income for a household in the county was $42,551, and the median income for a family was $51,708. Males had a median income of $36,808 versus $27,086 for females. The per capita income for the county was $20,846. About 7.20% of families and 11.40% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.00% of those under age 18 and 8.70% of those age 65 or over...

International Business Machines promotional film for Ulster County, New York, to encourage potential IBM employees to want to move to the area.

Come join us for a full Northern Irish (Ulster Fry) breakfast in Belfast, Ireland. Our breakfast consisted of soda bread, potato bread, rashers (bacon), sausage, beans and fried egg. What's cool about most restaurants that sell it is the fact that you can order it just about any time of day. For this particular taste test we ended up having it for our lunch ;)
Ulster Fry: Northern Irish Full Breakfast in Belfast, Ireland Travel Video Transcript:
Breakfast time in Belfast! So since we've been in Ireland my favorite meal has been breakfast. And it's been a full Irish breakfast. We're now in Belfast and over here it is called an Ulster Fry. It's slightly different from an Irish breakfast which we'll explain later. But it is a very complete breakfast, it has a lot of different things including bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, tomatoes and a whole bunch of other stuff which we'll show you in a bit.
It is time for a grand tour of the meal. Breakfast has arrived. So we've got soda and potato bread over here. We've got our fried egg. We've got something that resembles a hash-brown. We've got our sausage, our bacon and of course our beans. So that is a very complete meal. Yeah. I hope you're hungry. Yeah, we sure are.
So what I find really unique about the Ulster Fry is that you get potato bread and soda bread which are breads that I've never really tried before. But they are quite nice and compact. Very heavy. You know, you're getting your carbs in early in the morning.
It looks quite thin but it is really heavy. Starchy.
And then this is the soda bread. I'm not really sure if you're supposed to put butter and jam on it since it is more of a savory bread but it is really good on its own.
So my favorite part is the sausage. And what I like to do is dip it in with the beans. And I think they call them rashers here. Yeah, they are called rashers. Sam eating rashers.
Mmmm. How are they? That's awesome. Mmmmmm.
Something that I love about the Ulster Fry and Irish Breakfast is that you can pick it up almost any time of day. We typically have it for breakfast but if you get a craving for it at night you can pop into a restaurant that specializes in the dish and you can have yourself some.
And to wrap things up how about the price point? Okay, so we got this breakfast in downtown Belfast and paid 4 Pounds and 50 Pence which I think is pretty decent. And I imagine if you get it out in the suburbs it might be a little bit cheaper because this does look like a really popular place.
This is part of our Travel in Northern Ireland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Irish culture, Irish arts, Irish foods, Irish religion, Irish cuisine and Irish people.

Three decades of sectarian violence in Belfast had traditionally served to keep the tourists away.
But now it seems the legacy of those very troubles may in fact be Northern Ireland's main attraction.
Tour guides are catering to tourist demands to see the sites that for so long dominated television news.
And some residents are even turning their homes into bed & breakfasts to cash in on the new tourist boom.
Shankhill Road - Belfast's Protestant area and domain of the Ulster Loyalist paramilitaries.
For nearly three decades, sectarian killings and violence deterred even the most adventurous tourist.
But since the ceasefire, the number of visitors venturing to Northern Ireland has increased.
Many seem to be keen to witness the scenes where much of the trouble that kept them away for so long took place.
Northern Ireland is renowned for its spectacular coastline, but some tourists are looking for something that only Belfast can offer.
George Grimley is one bus driver who operates tours to bring tourists to some of the city's infamous hot spots.

"Well, Belfast unfortunately, having the history that it has, you'll find a lot of the tourists want to go into the areas that they've seen on their televisions over the years. So our aim is to bring the tourists into that area and give an unbiased view of both sides."

The twice-weekly bus tours of the Catholic and Protestant areas have become a must-see and are even recommended in travel guide books.
The tourists seem to enjoy the drive through some of Belfast's notorious areas.

"You can tell it's a Protestant area. You'll see all the pavements are painted red, white and blue."

The murals around Belfast are becoming something of an art form.
Even so, the tours are not for the faint hearted since the sites mark the scenes of atrocities still very real to local residents.
On the site of this wallpaper shop in the Shankhill Road stood a fish shop which was bombed by the I-R-A in 1993.

"That was one of the worst bomb attacks on the Shankhill Road, a lot of women and kids were killed. An I-R-A man left the bomb on the floor."

Milltown Cemetery gained notoriety when it was the scene of a deadly shooting in 1988.
Loyalist paramilitary Michael Stone attacked and killed three mourners attending the funerals of three I-R-A members shot by the British military in Gibraltar.
Within the cemetery are plots dedicated to fallen Republicans, including those killed in Gibraltar.
There is also a plaque commemorating the death of Bobby Sands and other inmates of the Maze Prison who died while on hunger strike protesting for political rights.

Ireland and Northern Ireland have long had the raw ingredients for a world-class cuisine—icy northern waters yielding fresh fish and shellfish, lush green grass for dairy herds, hillside wild herbs for free-ranging lambs, and traditional skills such as butchering, bread making, and whiskey distilling.
Farmhouse Cheese
==============
Cheese making dates back to the days of the monasteries here but nearly died out. It helped get the artisanal food movement going when it was reestablished in the mid-1970s by the makers of Milleens and Coolea cheese. Sheridans Cheesemongers, with shops in Dublin, Galway, and Kells, features over 50 Irish cheeses in a variety of styles from more than 30 artisan producers in the north and south. Sample before buying or head to the wine bar above the Galway shop for tasting platters to share.
Seafood
========
The bounty of the sea is celebrated in festivals and on menus across the island. One of the biggest festivals is the Galway Oyster and Seafood Festival at the end of September. Alternatively, sample Irish bivalves at renowned oyster bars in the Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Dublin and at Mourne Seafood’s Dublin and Belfast locations, serving oysters from County Donegal and County Down, Northern Ireland. Learn the secrets of the Mourne Seafood chefs in classes at the Belfast Cookery School.
Smoked Salmon
===============
reland's smoked salmon deserves its own category. Salmon has been eaten in Ireland since prehistoric times and ties into Celtic mythology—the Salmon of Knowledge was considered the wisest of creatures. Smokehouses around the island smoke salmon with oak, beech, or turf, and restaurants typically serve it as an appetizer with brown bread. Oysters Restaurant in Strabane, Northern Ireland, presents a creative twist with pistachio-crusted, peat-smoked Irish salmon with martini and chive velouté.
Lamb
=======
The Irish take pride in lamb from specific regions—Connemara Hill lamb even has geographical protection from the European Union. Mary Gleeson of Gleeson’s Townhouse & Restaraunt, Roscommon, says it’s the sweet, grass-reared Roscommon lamb that makes her stew so tasty and admired. She cooks it in fresh thyme and rosemary-flavored broth with onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes. The Roscommon Lamb Festival in May offers a chance to taste local lamb cooked a variety of ways.
Traditional Breads
==============
Soul-sustaining bread is a staple for the Irish, notably soda bread with a cross cut into the top. The soda bread master is Peter Ward of Country Choice in Nenagh—heaps of his crusty round loaves are gone before day’s end. The northern specialty is oatcakes, with artisan baker Robert Ditty setting the standard at Ditty’s Home Bakery & Coffee Shop in Castledawson and Magherafelt, Northern Ireland. The Waterford blaa, a soft white roll dating to the 17th century, now has EU protected status. Third-generation bakers Michael and Dermot Walsh make fluffy blaas at M&D; Bakery in Waterford City.
Teatime
=========
Ireland drinks more tea per capita than any other place in the world except for Turkey. There are charming tearooms all over Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as luxury hotels offering elegant high tea.

Having spent significant time in both Dublin and Belfast it was time for a road trip to visit Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. Although the weather was nice when we left Belfast it didn't take long for it to change into the more typical overcast day with intermittent rain. Along the way we stopped for lunch in Ballycastle where we devoured some fish and chips, warm soup and a pint of Guinness. After warming up by the fire we finally arrived at Giant's Causeway (Irish: Clochán an Aifir or Clochán na bhFomhórach) and spent the better part of the day exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site before heading back to Belfast.
Visiting Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland Travel Video Transcript:
Well good morning from Northern Ireland and today is a road-trip day. We're actually leaving Belfast behind and we're going to be driving the Causeway Coastal route and exploring the coast visiting some of the major attractions along there. One of them is Giant's Causeway and from there we'll see what else we find. I know there is a distillery, maybe visit some parks.
Yeah, sounds awesome. And we've been waiting to do this for a really long time. For us, this is what the real road trip in Ireland looks like.
So let's hit the road. Yeah!
So the weather has been quite unpredictable. We had blue skies when we left Belfast less than an hour ago and up ahead we are seeing some grey storm clouds. So we'll see what happens when we actually reach the coast. Hopefully we won't be needing umbrellas or rain ponchos. This is Ireland, you've got to dress for all occasions. Oh, yeah.
So it's almost lunchtime and we've been taking a lot of detours. We still haven't reached Giant's Causeway but we've reached a little town called Ballycastle. So we're going to stop here and have some lunch.
Cozy by the fireplace are we. Yeah, just warming up by the fire with a pint of Guinness. I couldn't be anymore relaxed.
So our food has arrived. I have a tomato basil soup. And Sam. I have a feeling someone is going to have food envy.
I think I am. Look at. That giant fish and chips. Are you going to share? No. What? You're not going to share with wifey? Probably not.
Something I'm going to really miss from Ireland are these chips that are bigger than my fingers. Giant chips. Oh, yeah.
I need to try at least one of those.
Soup. Sopa.
Mmmmm.
That's nice and savory with lots of spices. And a little drizzle of olive oil on top. It's top notch.
Alright, so we've finished lunch. We've made it back in the car. That means our road trip continues. We're on the way to Giant's Causeway. Yeah, I keep calling it the wrong thing. What did I call it before? Like Causeway of Giants. Giant's Causeway that's where we are off to and hopefully on the way back to Belfast we'll have time to hit up a whisky distillery. So it's going to be a pretty epic day.
So we have just arrived at Giant's Causeway, one of the wonders of Northern Ireland, and we're just going to be following the trail all around until we reach these massive pillars that look out of this world. Let's go.
Giant's Causeway is a region of roughly 40,000 interlocking basalt columns as a result of an Ancient volcanic eruption. Located along the Northeast coast of Northern Ireland this National Nature Reserve has been named the 4th greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom and is easily one of the most popular attractions int he country. Legend has it the columns are the remains of a Causeway built by an Irish Giant challenged to a scrap by a Scottish Giant.
How are you enjoying it so far? It's been fantastic. We're going the extra distance to get a really nice vantage point. And you know what it's never crowded along the extra mile.
Lead us that extra mile.
Across the sea you'll find identical basalt columns at Fingal's Cave on the Scottish Isle of Staffa.
Many of the structures having been subject to several million years of weathering resemble objects such as Camel's Hump, Giant's Boot Structures, Shepherd's' Steps and the Organ to name just a few.
And this is where the path officially ends. Unfortunately, they've had to put up a barrier because of erosion. And if you look off in the distance there is a massive rock slide and you wouldn't want to be walking there. Probably not.
This is part of our Travel in Northern Ireland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Irish culture, Irish arts, Irish foods, Irish religion, Irish cuisine and Irish people.

The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. It is also known as Clochán an Aifir or Clochán na bhFomhórach in Irish and tha Giant's Causey in Ulster-Scots.
It is located in County Antrim on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles (4.8 km) northeast of the town of Bushmills. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, and a national nature reserve in 1987 by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. In a 2005 poll of Radio Times readers, the Giant's Causeway was named as the fourth greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom.[4] The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with four, five, seven or eight sides. The tallest are about 12 metres (39 ft) high, and the solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres (92 ft) thick in places.
Much of the Giant's Causeway and Causeway Coast World Heritage Site is today owned and managed by the National Trust and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern Ireland. The remainder of the site is owned by the Crown Estate and a number of private landowners.

===========
The discovery of the Giant's Causeway was announced to the wider world in 1693 by the presentation of a paper to the Royal Society from Sir Richard Bulkeley, a fellow of Trinity College, Dublin, although the discoverer had, in fact, been the Bishop of Derry who had visited the site a year earlier. The site received international attention when Dublin artist Susanna Drury made watercolour paintings of it in 1739; they won Drury the first award presented by the Royal Dublin Society in 1740 and were engraved in 1743. In 1765 an entry on the Causeway appeared in volume 12 of the French Encyclopédie, which was informed by the engravings of Drury's work; the engraving of the "East Prospect" itself appeared in a 1768 volume of plates published for the Encyclopédie.[15] In the caption to the plates French geologist Nicolas Desmarest suggested, for the first time in print, that such structures were volcanic in origin.
The site first became popular with tourists during the nineteenth century, particularly after the opening of the Giant's Causeway Tramway, and only after the National Trust took over its care in the 1960s were some of the vestiges of commercialism removed. Visitors can walk over the basalt columns which are at the edge of the sea, a half-mile walk from the entrance to the site.
Visitors' centre
=============
The Causeway was without a permanent visitors' centre between 2000 and 2012, as the previous building, built in 1986, burned down in 2000. Public money was set aside to construct a new centre and, following an architectural competition, a proposal was accepted to build a new centre, designed by Dublin architectural practice Heneghan Peng, which was to be set into the ground to reduce impact to the landscape. A privately financed proposal was given preliminary approval in 2007 by the Environment Minister and DUP member Arlene Foster. However, the public money that had been allocated was frozen as a disagreement developed about the relationship between the private developer Seymour Sweeney and the DUP.[18] It was also debated whether a private interest should be permitted to benefit from the site – given its cultural and economic importance and as it is largely owned by the National Trust. Coleraine Borough Council voted against the private plans and in favour of a public development project, and Moyle District Council similarly signalled its displeasure and gave the land on which the previous visitors' centre stood to the National Trust. This gave the Trust control of both the Causeway and surrounding land. Ultimately Mr. Sweeney dropped a legal challenge to the publicly funded plan.
The new visitor centre was officially opened by First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness in July 2012, with funding having been raised from the National Trust, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, the Heritage Lottery Fund and public donations. Since opening, the new visitor centre has garnered very mixed reviews from those visiting the Causeway for its pricing, design, contents and placement across the causeway walk descent.

Sights in Northern Ireland
Ulster American Folk Park
----------------------------------------------
In the 18th and 19th centuries thousands of Ulster people left their homes to forge a new life across the Atlantic; 200,000 emigrated in the 18th century alone. Their story is told here at one of Ireland's best museums, which features a sprawling outdoor history park , where exhibits are split into Old World and New World areas and come alive through reenactments.
The park is 8km northwest of Omagh off the A5. Last admission is 1½ hours before closing.
City Hall
--------------------
Belfast's classical Renaissance-style City Hall was built in fine, white Portland stone in 1906. Highlights of the free, 45-minute guided tour include the sumptuous, wedding-cake Italian marble and colourful stained glass of the entrance hall and rotunda; an opportunity to sit on the mayor's throne in the council chamber; and the idiosyncratic portraits of past lord mayors. Each is allowed to choose his or her own artist and the variations in personal style are intriguing.
The Industrial Revolution transformed Belfast in the 19th century. The city's rapid rise to muck-and-brass prosperity manifested in the extravagance of the building, which was paid for with the gas supply company's profits. The hall is fronted by a statue of a rather dour 'we are not amused' Queen Victoria . The bronze figures on either side of her symbolise the textile and shipbuilding industries. The child at the back represents education.
Ulster Museum
---------------------------
You could spend hours browsing this state-of-the-art museum, but if you're pressed for time don't miss the Armada Room , with artefacts retrieved from the 1588 wreck of the Spanish galleon Girona; the Egyptian Room , with Princess Takabuti, a 2500-year-old Egyptian mummy unwrapped in Belfast in 1835; and the Early Peoples Gallery , with the bronze Bann Disc, a superb example of Celtic design from the Iron Age.
Free tours (10 people maximum; first-come, first served) run at 2.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 1.30pm Sunday.
Crown Liquor Saloon
================
There are not too many historical monuments that you can enjoy while savouring a pint of beer, but the National Trust's Crown Liquor Saloon is one of them. Belfast's most famous bar was refurbished by Patrick Flanagan in the late 19th century and displays Victorian decorative flamboyance at its best (he was looking to pull in a posh clientele from the newfangled train station and Grand Opera House across the street).
Castle Coole
---------------------------
The 600 hectares of landscaped grounds contain a lake that is home to the UK's only nonmigratory colony of greylag geese. You can also join a tour of the grand 18th-century house .
The estate is 2.5km southeast of Enniskillen. You can easily walk there from Enniskillen town centre in 30 minutes – beyond Dunnes Stores, fork left on Tempo Rd and keep going straight along Castlecoole Rd.
When King George IV visited Ireland in 1821, the second Earl of Belmore had a state bedroom specially prepared at Castle Coole in anticipation of the monarch's visit. The king, however, was more interested in dallying with his mistress at Slane Castle and never turned up. The bedroom, draped in red silk and decorated with paintings depicting A Rake's Progress (the earl's sniffy riposte to the king's extramarital shenanigans), is one of the highlights of the one-hour guided tour.
Navan Fort
-------------------------
Perched atop a drumlin, Ulster's most important archaeological site is linked in legend with the tales of Cúchulainn and named as capital of Ulster and the seat of the legendary Knights of the Red Branch. Exhibits at the outstanding Navan Centre place the fort in its historical context, and display a re-creation of an Iron Age settlement.
It's a 3km walk west of Armagh; alternatively, take bus 73 (up to nine daily Monday to Friday).
Giant’s Causeway
---------------------------------
This spectacular rock formation – Northern Ireland's only Unesco World Heritage site – is one of Ireland's most impressive and atmospheric landscape features, a vast expanse of regular, closely packed, hexagonal stone columns looking for all the world like the handiwork of giants. The phenomenon is explained in the Giant's Causeway Visitor Experience , a spectacular new ecofriendly building half-hidden in a hillside above the sea.
Derry's City Walls
---------------------------------
The best way to get a feel for Derry's layout and history is to walk the 1.5km circumference of the city's walls.

THE North Queensland Cowboys are braced for a sudden death showdown with the Penrith Panthers to make the quarterfinals after a mixed first day at the Auckland Nines on Saturday.
The NRL premiers turned up the razzle dazzle to pump the Newcastle Knights 28-12 in their opening game before going down to the Wests Tigers 13-12 to be ranked second in the Rangitoto pool.
Under-20s try-scoring freak Gideon Gela-Mosby had to wait just two minutes for his first try at senior level as the Cowboys barely gave the Knights a look-in, racing to an 18-0 halftime lead.
Michael Morgan launched a trademark right-side raid to send Justin O’Neill over for North Queensland’s second try, but it was the left edge where they terrorised Newcastle.
Skipper Gavin Cooper added to the try tally while it was on for young and old when club legend Matt Bowen created a brilliant diving try for Gela-Mosby with his first touch to close out the half.
Bowen was at it again after the break as he cut through a yawning gap to cross the tryline before unselfishly handing the ball off to Cooper in-goal so the captain could bag his second try.

C'mon John. In the event that you trust the home group has favorable position - and the measurements demonstrate that overwhelmingly - the title has dependably been unjustifiable and will remain so unless everyone plays others home and away, which is never going to happen. Yet, why does that have focuses effect the best alternative? It is simply one more focuses framework, one which - for reasons unknown I can't comprehend - you lean toward.
