In response to last year's Gaza conflict, the Israeli government announced the construction of further settlements in the West Bank — a move condemned by the international community for escalating tensions that were already highly fraught.
The expansion of the settlements has consumed privately owned Palestinian land, causing the destruction of Palestinian homes, produce, and livelihoods. Despite Israeli settlements taking up only one percent of land in the West Bank, they now exert control over 42 percent, with settlement boundaries often 10 times larger than the settlements themselves.
VICE News traveled to the West Bank to speak to displaced Palestinians and activists who are trying desperately to address the grievances that boiled over with such horrific consequences in 2014.

Unholy War: Inside the Jewish settlements on the West Bank.
It began with the kidnap and murder of three Israeli teenagers by Palestinian extremists.
Then came the retribution killing of a fifteen year old Palestinian boy by Israeli extremists.
Now this most brutal of conflicts has again spiralled into dreadful bloodshed.
And once again, it's the vast mass of ordinary people who are trapped between the fanatics in their midst.
60 Minutes reporter Allison Langdon takes you inside the Jewish settlements on the West Bank, and to the war raging on the Gaza Strip, as Hamas and the Israeli Defence Force try to blast each other away.

The Israeli ministry of military affairs has announced plans to seize some 370 acres of agriculture land near Ariha also known as Jericho. It already has many settlement farms in that area and plans to expand them. This is Tel Aviv’s largest land expropriation since 2014 when it got nearly one-thousand acres in the West Bank. The move has drawn criticism from Palestinian and rights group. The International community is expected to react as well.

Israel says the settlers entered three empty stores. Backed by Israeli soldiers, the settlers clashed with Palestinians protesting the move in the area. Israeli troops fired tear gas to disperse the Palestinians. A pro-settler Israeli lawmaker from the ruling Likud party claims they entered houses that were bought legally, praising the settlers for expanding their presence in al-Khalil. This comes as Israel is going to seize a large chunk of Palestinian land in the West Bank. The decision has drawn criticism from the U-N and the Palestinians.

When you think of traveling to Israel visiting religious sites in Jerusalem or basing yourself in Tel Aviv may initially come to mind. However, when exploring Israel it is paramount to set aside enough time to get off the beaten path and explore more of the country. Fortunately, for us, we were able to make two separate trips to Israel experiencing as much food, culture, historical and modern attractions as we possibly could.
The following is a list of things to do in Israel with a focus on the top attractions in this travel guide:
1) Regardless of whether you can swim (or not swim) well you will most certainly float when visiting the Dead Sea. Covering yourself in gooey mud and joining others floating is one of the top attractions in Israel.
2) No trip to Israel would be complete without sampling the local cuisine and especially the street food. With this in mind we walked all the way from our hotel room in Tel Aviv to Jaffa - an ancient city renowned for its amazing hummus and other street food. Aside from just hummus we were able to try Shaksouka, cheese stuffed pastries, malabi and kanafeh.
3) Having the opportunity to take a tour of the West Bank (or Palestine) is an eye opening experience. Media coverage, from the perspective of the west, often depicts this area as being quite unruly and poor; however, a tour there really dispels a lot of myths. We had the opportunity to eat falafel, walking around the streets and get a real sense of what life is like in this region. Some highlights included visiting Sheppard's Field, the Jordan River and oldest city in the world - Jericho. To end our trip we drank beer at the West Bank Palestinian brewery.
4) Getting off the beaten track a little we visited Rosh Hanikra. Known as the window to the Mediterranean we were treated to breathtaking views and an amazing sunset.
5) Aside from just eating our way around Jaffa, we took the time to properly explore it on foot. One of the top highlights was visiting a traditional flea market,
6) Taking the cable car up to visit Masada was a welcome relief considering how hot it was on the day we visited. As we wandered about we visited an old water cistern and Byzantine church. From our vantage point we had amazingly unobstructed views of the Dead Sea.
7) Caesarea! The ruins of the ancient city once given from Agus Caesar to Harrod the Great was an experience we'll never forget. Walking around in the Hippodrome allowed me to visualize what the old chariot races must have been like.
8) One of my favorite meals in Israel was prepared by a Druze family. This amazing feast, in the form of a buffet, featured kebabs, olives, chicken and stuffed cabbage just to name a few.
9) Wondering wear to rest your sleepy head while traveling in Israel? Look no further than the Fauzi Azar Inn in Nazareth. This converted Arab Mansion offers a charming stay. Best of all is that free cake and coffee is available throughout the day and the buffet breakfast is amazing.
10) One of the more frontier attractions was visiting Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. We toured around the Banias Reserve and Mount Bental.
11) Considering how tasty the food is in Israel it would be a shame to leave without knowing how to recreate these delectable delights back home in your own kitchen. Fortunately, for us, we were able to take a cooking class at Dan Gourmet in Tel Aviv. We learned how to make Lahmacun and charred eggplant amongst other dishes.
12) Have you ever wondered how olive oil is made? Visiting an olive press answered our all of our questions and made us appreciate the craft of making this high quality cooking oil. For the best vantage point of Nazareth we headed to Mount Precipice for panoramic 360 degree views. Finally, we visited Haifa to check out the famous Bahá'í gardens.

wn.com/Things To Do In Israel | Top Attractions Travel Guide
Travel video about destination Egypt.
Egypt is a land of monumental temples, gigantic pyramids, the River Nile and the mysterious Sphinx: 5000 years of history.Founded by Alexander The Great in 332 B.C., the city of Alexandria is located in the Nile Delta and it was here that Caesar and Mark Anthony fell under Cleopatra’s spell. Cairo is Africa’s largest city and the heart of the Arab world, extreme poverty living next to opulent wealth, and modern, Western boutiques next to ancient souks. The Cairo Museum is home to the most extensive collection of Egyptian antiquities, including the golden mask and tomb of Tutankamun. Towering above almost any other human achievement are the impressive three pyramids of Gisa. The Cheops Pyramid, the world’s largest single construction, took four hundred thousand workers twenty years to build. It weighs as much as all the cathedrals in Europe put together and spans an area of 53,000 square metres - the height of a fifty storey skyscraper. In the middle of today’s modern city of Luxor, known as the ‘Capital City Of The Pharaohs’, the Luxor Temple stretches along the eastern banks of the Nile and, not far away, the temple complex of Karnak and the Amun Temple. 67 kilometres from Luxor, on the western bank of the Nile, lies the Temple Of Dendera, the most important place of worship for the love goddess, HATHOR, whose heavenly appearance was portrayed by the body of a cow. At Aswan, the landscape of the Nile is enchanting, but it is the stone temples of Abu Simbel that take one back to ancient Egypt, land of the Pharaohs, and archaeological paradise.

So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years and it is actually Sam's very first time here. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London. So let's get started.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city - just make sure you don't go on a foggy day.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year, however, that's something that you need to plan months in advance.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames. Though this castle served many purposes, it's mainly remembered for its use as a prison in the 16th and 17th centuries.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do in London that you'd like to share with other travellers, feel free to include those in the comments below.
This is part of our Travel in England series. We're making a series of videos showcasing English culture, English arts, English foods, English religion, English cuisine and English people.

For a relaxing city break, Brisbane is the perfect place to visit. Start your trip with a trip to the top of the clock tower for city views to get your bearings.
South Bank Parklands is a great place to take the family, start with the wheel of Brisbane for great views of the river, take the kids to the playground and then go for a dip at the manmade beach.
Art lovers should head to the Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland Art Gallery located not far from South Bank.
Visit the highest peak in Brisbane for stunning views of the city at Mt Coot-tha and take a stroll along the walking trails. If you don't fancy walking to the top, browse the botanic gardens and parklands at the base.
The kids will love a trip to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, hold the koalas and hand feed the kangaroos.
To end your day, there are some great restaurants in South Bank and along the river at Eagle Street Pier. West End and New Farm also have some great cafes and restaurants.
If you'd like to carry on your night at one of the many bars or clubs head to Fortitude Valley.

"Luxor" means "Palaces" and it is the premier travel destination in Upper (southern) Egypt and the Nile Valley. The dynastic and religious capital of Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom Egypt, Luxor has much for travellers to enjoy: vast temples, ancient royal tombs, spectacular desert and river scenery and a bustling modern life.
See in Luxor, Egypt
=================
The various Luxor district article pages contain detailed information and suggestions for things to see. Definite highlights, not-to-be-missed, include:
the Valley of the Kings
the temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak
Medinet Habu
the Tombs of the Nobles
The Ramesseum Temple
Do in Luxor, Egypt
=====================
Walk from the Valley of the Queens across the desert and over the cliffs to the Valley of the Kings
Hire a bike and ride around Ancient Thebes - takes you less than 15 minutes to get there.
West Bank scene from a felucca boat, Luxor.
A local felucca ride just before sunset; shouldn't cost you more than about LE 30 (for one person) per hour.
Take a felucca cruise on the Nile for a 2 day trip to Aswan (the reverse trip is recommended, however, due to river currents).
Hire a donkey, horse, or camel to ride around Luxor's West Bank.Go to Pharaoh's Stables,just a short walk from the ferry terminal.They will take you to places where the big coaches cant go,so you can enjoy the real Egypt, with its friendly people and relaxed lifestyle.Every day is different when you see the West Bank by horse or donkey,and the guides will look after you all the way. They have horses for beginners to experienced riders.The Sunset ride and Nile ride is a must do.

Kuala Lumpur (called simply KL by locals) is the federal capital and the largest city in Malaysia.
Literally meaning "muddy river confluence" in Malay, Kuala Lumpur has grown from a small sleepy Chinese tin-mining village to a bustling metropolis of around 6.5 million (city-proper population of 1.8 million) in just 150 years. A cultural melting pot with some of the world's cheapest 5-star hotels, great shopping, even better food and some of nature's wonders in just an hour away, this dynamic city has much to offer for every visitor.
See in Kuala Lumpur
===================
Kuala Lumpur is short on must-see attractions: beyond the Petronas Twin Towers, the real joy lies in wandering randomly, seeing, shopping and eating your way through it.
KL hosts an amazing variety of architectural delights. The grandest old British colonial buildings lie in the city centre and include the former offices of the Colonial Secretariat (now the Sultan Abdul Samad Building) on Merdeka Square and the old Kuala Lumpur Railway station. They blend themes from the architecture of Britain and North Africa. On Merdeka Square's west side, looking like a rejected transplant straight from Stratford-upon-Avon is the Royal Selangor Club. Near Merdeka Square is Masjid Jamek, a charming Moorish-style mosque set at a confluence on the Klang River. The National Mosque, Masjid Negara, (1965) celebrates the bold ambitions of the newly independent Malaysia. The National Monument in the pretty Lake Gardens is inspired by the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. The ASEAN sculpture garden is nearby. Also in the lake gardens is Carcosa Seri Negara, the former residence of the British High Commissioner, which now houses an upmarket hotel and colonial-style tea rooms. While some buildings in the high-rise Golden Triangle, such as the KL Tower, are uninspired copies of other famous structures, the Petronas Twin Towers are truly marvelous.
Within the city centre is also the fascinating narrow streets of Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur's traditional commercial district, with its many Chinese shops and places to eat.
KL is hot, humid and sometimes crowded, so schedule some cooling off in air-conditioned shopping malls or restaurants. You may find that most attractions are only crowded on weekends and holidays and are otherwise deserted on weekdays.
Do in Kuala Lumpur
====================
KL is mainly known for its eating and shopping, which are adequately covered by the Eat and Buy sections.
Other activities include usual urban sports such as golfing, cycling, running, jogging and horse riding. If you’re into rock climbing, the Batu Caves in the Northern suburbs is popular. However given Malaysia's stunning terrain, you’re better off heading to other places for anything more strenuous or challenging.
Several good theatres and performance halls have emerged as part of Malaysia's drive to encourage greater cultural expression. These include the National Theatre (Istana Budaya) and the KL Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) in the northern part of the city, the KL Philharmonic in the Twin Towers, and the Actors Studio at Lot 10.
Leading museums in the city centre are the National Museum, which covers the region's history, and the well-regarded Islamic Arts Museum, which houses a small but captivating collection. Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery is a modern museum linked to the country's national bank with well-designed galleries on Malaysian economic development, Islamic finance, the history of the central bank, and the national's banks own art collection.
Pampering and spas can be found in several five-star hotels and independent centres in the Golden Triangle. There's also nail parlours and beauty salons, which are generally good value, there's also high-end ones offering similar services for a premium. Reflexology and foot massage places are everywhere, especially in Bukit Bintang in the Golden Triangle and in Chinatown.
Kuala Lumpur also has several theme parks around the city and in the surrounding cities. The most famous of these parks is Sunway Lagoon in the neighbouring city of Subang Jaya. The theme park has rides, a huge waterpark, an extreme park for adventure junkies, a scream park for those wanting a good scare, and a petting zoo for children. Sunway Lagoon is a 40 minute drive from central Kuala Lumpur in good traffic.
You can also watch the local football match at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras. Kuala Lumpur FA is a football team based in Kuala Lumpur and currently plays in the top divison of football in Malaysia. the Malaysia Super League. Match schedule and fixture can be seen at the KLFA website.

Founded by Alexander The Great in 332 B.C., the city of Alexandria is located in the Nile Delta and it was here that Caesar and Mark Anthony fell under Cleopatra’s spell.Cairo is Africa’s largest city and the heart of the Arab world, extreme poverty living next to opulent wealth, and modern, Western boutiques next to ancient souks.

The small town of Cue in Western Australia's Murchison Region is to me a particularly interesting outback town. Like so many old WA mining towns, Cue has thrived and floundered over the years with times of boom and bust.
The town was established in 1893 following the discovery of gold in the area the year before, which sparked a gold rush to the remote Murchison Region desert. In its heyday at the beginning of the twentieth century Cue was home to over 10000 people, a thriving and prosperous town known as "The Queen of the Murchison".
These days things couldn't be more different. With a population of less than 300, Cue is very close to being a ghost town.
When we visited Cue earlier this year the wide streets were still and silent beneath a big blue desert sky. The whole time we were there we didn't see a single soul walking around town and we noticed a good number of the buildings were abandoned or up for lease.
The empty streets of Cue would have felt really quite spooky if it weren't for the constant parade of roadtrains roaring through on their way between Perth and the Pilbara carrying fuel and massive pieces of mining equipment. This for me is what made Cue such a memorable place -- the decay and ghostliness of the semi-abandoned town, and the way it felt as if time had stood still there ever since the 1930′s.
However I have a feeling that Cue might be quite a different place in a few years time as the shire seems to be going to some effort to restore the town's buildings to their former glory and attract more visitors to the town and surrounding region. And with rumours of a new big mine opening in the area, the population could soon be set to rise again.
Gracious Heritage Architecture in Cue
===========================
Walking around the streets of Cue feel like stepping back in time. Not much appears to have changed on the main street over the years. Almost all of the buildings are the original ones that were built in the 1890′s and 1900′s -- some still serving their original purpose, some beautifully restored and others abandoned and left to ruin.
While a lot of the old heritage Goldrush-era buildings look crumbling and decrepit, I can still understand why Cue's town slogan is "Queen of the Murchison". Some of the old sandstone buildings sure are grand for a dusty outpost in the middle of nowhere!
Visiting and Exploring Around Cue, Western Australia
===============================
If you happen to be heading up Great Northern Highway for any reason -- on your way to Karijini and the Pilbara perhaps -- then I highly recommend making a stop in Cue.
It is an interesting and memorable place to spend some time in and is well-situated for a stopover on a long outback drive, being 650km from Perth and approximately half way to Newman and Karijini.
If you've got a bit of time to spare while you're in the area, it's well worth taking a half-day detour westwards out to Walga Rock and the ghost town Big Bell.
Things to See and Do in and Around Cue, Western Australia
================================
Go for a drive or walk around town and have a look at the interesting and beautiful old heritage buildings.
Government Buildings -- police station, court house and post office
Gentleman's Club (now the shire office)
Masonic Lodge building
Bank of New South Wales building
Rotunda (site of the town's first well)
Pensioner huts and old gaol (part of the caravan park)
Check out the historical photograph collection in the shire office building (formerly the town Gentleman's Club) to gain some more context to the history of Cue.
Drive up to the top of the Radio Tower Hill (Cue Lookout) for views over the town, the nearby mines, and horizon-to-horizon dry red earth.
A good idea is to pick up the brochure and follow the Cue Heritage Trail, which will take around to the main attractions in the surrounding area and provide interesting background info.
Try fossicking for gold -- you never know, you could get lucky!
In late winter and spring the beautiful desert wildflowers bloom to life, carpeting the red dusty ground in fields of colour. This is the best time of year to visit Cue and explore the surrounding country.
Camp out for the night or just enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife at Lake Nallan, a nature reserve about 24km north of Cue
Or camp/picnic at Milly Soak, 16km north of Cue. Also has a small pioneer cemetery and well
Head out west along Austin Downs Road to Walga Rock to see the cave paintings, climb the rock and perhaps camp there for the night.
While in the area, check out what remains of Big Bell, a ghost town.

Bulldozers escorted by Israeli forces razed a two-storey building along with an incomplete apartment in the Silwan neighborhood. A restaurant was also partially destroyed in the Beit Safafa neighborhood. Earlier, five houses belonging to Palestinian Bedouin families were similarly demolished in the West Bank. Tel Aviv claims the structures were built without a construction permit. But Palestinians say Tel Aviv is planning to evacuate Palestinian-populated areas as part of its settlement expansions. They argue Israel is in fact seeking to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian population and Judaize the West Bank under the pretext of such projects.

The Palestinian Authority is expected to hold a crucial meeting soon regarding its ties with Israel.
The PA is extremely frustrated that Israel has failed to re-enter peace negotiations, whilst at the same time increasing repression in the West Bank and Jerusalem al Quds.
PA leader Mahmoud Abbas wants to draw the final borders of Palestine; he wants the release of Palestinian prisoners; and he wants a full cessation of settlement construction. However, given that none of this is forthcoming should the PA cut ALL ties with Israel?

More Palestinians fall victim to Israel's intensified aggression across the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces have shot dead four Palestinians accusing them of trying to carry out stabbing attacks against Israeli troops. Israeli army killed three Palestinian men at a junction south of Jerusalem al-Quds and fatally shot the forth man east of al-Khalil also known as Hebron. The latest deaths bring to 149 the number of Palestinians killed in the escalating violence between Israelis and Palestinians since early October. 25 Israelis have also been killed in the tensions. The ongoing violence began after repeated storming of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers and troops.

The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III, led mass at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem on overnight on Wednesday/Thursday (January 6/7) to mark Orthodox Christmas.
Theophilos III led mass at the church in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, considered by many as the birthplace of Jesus.
Prior to mass, the Patriarch was greeted by religious clergy and worshippers at Manger Square but the traditional marching band stayed away from his welcoming ceremony this year due to internal disputes. They took to the streets to perform only later after he entered the Church.
The Church of the Nativity is shared by various Eastern denominations including the ancient Assyrian Church, the Greek Orthodox, Armenian and the Coptic Church. Leaders from the various churches arrive every year at the church to kick off their Christmas Eve celebrations.
