Overnight is a travel and food show for today’s traveler and we’ve been working on this web series for 4 months now. In today’s time hungry world, people want to try and experience so much in so little time. In fact, we discovered that most people travelling around Asia would spend on average 36 to 72 hours in any given capital city. So we decided to the same thing. Overnight will go through 5 large Asian cities (Taipei, Saigon, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Seoul) and will attempt to show you what you can do during those precious few hours you have in the metropolis. From drinking, eating, discovering new cultures all the way up to clubbing. Overnight’s got you covered.

On Day 9 of this Bangkok travel guide video series (2 Weeks in Bangkok) we spent the entire day eating Thai food in Yaowarat (เยาวราช), which is Chinatown Bangkok. There are some seriously amazing dishes to eat!
1:20 Thai Haeng (ร้านไท้เฮง) Restaurant - To begin out Thai street food tour in Chinatown we started at a restaurant called Thai Haeng (ร้านไท้เฮง), and to specifically eat a dish called suki ruam mit haeng (สุกี้รวมมิตรแห้ง), which is Thai style suki, the dry version. It included napa cabbage, some other vegetables and a mix of seafood and meat, all stir fried with mung bean noodles. It had the most amazing smoky flavor, and was served with a Thai sauce made with fermented soy. We also had a plate of khao man gai (ข้าวมันไก่), which is Thai style chicken rice.
6:28 Sampeng Market (สำเพ็ง) - Along with Thai street food, one of the most famous things about Yaowarat (เยาวราช) is the shopping - both for food shopping and things shopping. Sampeng Market (สำเพ็ง) is a long market that occupies a walking road within Bangkok and you can find all sorts of random things within the market - especially buttons and textiles.
Eeia Saey (ร้านเอียะแซ) coffee shop and Kan Kee Namdaothong (ร้านคั้นกี่น้ำเต้าทอง) Chinese health drink - After finishing a little bit of shopping on this food tour, we stopped at two different places to get a drink. One of them is an old school Bangkok Chinatown heritage coffee shop, and then we had a bitter health beverage that was so intense it almost made me shiver. We then just quickly stopped off at Wat Leng Noi Yee (วัดเล่งเน่ยยี่), one of the most well known Chinese temples in Bangkok.
10:51 Khao Gaeng Jek Puey (ข้าวแกงเจ๊กปุ้ย) - I wasn’t actually planning on eating here on this day food tour in Bangkok, but after passing it, I couldn’t resist sitting down for a quick plate of Thai rice and curry at Khao Gaeng Jek Puey (ข้าวแกงเจ๊กปุ้ย). I got my usual order of stir fried crab, and I also decided to have the panang curry as well. This is one of the best Thai street food stalls in Bangkok especially for the incredibly atmosphere. We continued walking through Talad Drok Itsara Nuphap (ตลาดตรอกอิสรานุภาพ) - a market in an alley.
15:07 Lek and Rut Seafood (ร้านเล็กกับรัตน์ซีฟู้ด) - When it comes to Thai food in Chinatown, seafood is one of the most popular choices. This time we ate at Lek and Rut Seafood (ร้านเล็กกับรัตน์ซีฟู้ด), which is right across the street from the other famous T and K seafood restaurant. We ordered some roasted prawns, and squid steamed in lime juice, garlic and chilies. The food was delicious!
21:56 Kuay Jab Nay Lek (ร้านก๋วยจั๊บนายเล็ก (อ้วน) - A Thai food trip to Chinatown wouldn’t be complete without a bowl of kuay jab tuk yang (ก๋วยจั๊บทุกอย่าง), which is a bowl of noodle rolls in a peppery broth. It’s one of the ultimate Thai dishes in Chinatown.
25:28 Hoy Kraeng Pa Jeen (หอยแครงป้าจิน) - To end the day of eating, at least for main street food stalls, we headed to Hoy Kraeng Pa Jeen (หอยแครงป้าจิน), a place that specializes in boiled blood cockles and mussels. They are some of the finest shellfish you’ll find anywhere in Bangkok, and this Thai street food stall has been around for over 50 years I believe. It’s an amazing place!
30:15 For dessert we had Khanom Pang Jao Gao (ขนมปังเจ้าเก่าเด็ดในเยาวราช), an incredibly popular place that specializes in grilled bread, and bua loy nam king (บัวลอยน้ำขิง), which is ginger soup and sesame dumplings.

Bangkok Night Scenes - July 2015
Footage all taken in central Bangkok.
This is a mixture of different clips that didn't make it into any other videos.
For the walking parts these are the ones that were nearly binned due to excessive camera shake. They are not the best because I was very drunk taking them.
The scenes are not in chronological order as they were taken on different days, but they are in area order.
0:09 Siam BTS Station and taking a BTS ride.
1:08 Guay Jab ก๋วยจั๊บ Noodles, on Thonglor Soi 38.
3:08 Closing time for Soi 4 and Nana Plaza, with many taxi drivers refusing customers.
4:28 Walking through the Khaosan Road secret alley, and then around a busy part of Khaosan Road which is ground zero for backpackers.
8:18 Walking in lower Sukhumvit Road near Soi 4.
10:00 Motorbike taxi from Soi Cowboy to Soi 4.
13:22 A long walk from Soi Cowboy towards Soi 4 but this time on the much quieter left side of the road. Someone asked me if I feel safe walking around late at night, this is one of the few walks where it feels dodgy, and that anyone could be lurking in the shadows.

She also recommended so many local things to do, like Rod Fai Night Market and Sampeng Market where QiuQiu shopped like crazy!

Soi Nana and Soi Cowboy Football Night - Bangkok Vlog 32
A night out in Bangkok where English Premier League football was on in pretty much every bar I went to.
The Saturday games kick off from around 7pm and the last one usually finishes around 2am so if you're a football fan you can combine drinking around the girly bars with watching your team :)

http://www.expedia.com/Bangkok.d178236.Destination-Travel-Guides
When you tour Bangkok, you’re immersing yourself in a city of contrasts. From its homage to ancient cultures to the ultra-modern skyscrapers that line the downtown area, you’ll soon discover why this lively metropolis wins so many “World’s Best City” awards from various publications. Some claim, it’s the perfect mixture of food, friendly citizens, shopping, and things to do.
Step into Krung Thep, or The City of Angels, and let your adventure begin. You might be confused when you first arrive; where, exactly, are these angels? But a close look at the smiling people will soon make it obvious. You can see more of this care and attention to detail in the many temples that dot the city’s landscape, as well as their daily lives. Thai arts and crafts are indicative of this…especially their culinary art.
If you’re visiting Bangkok for the food, you’re in good company. Did you know there are 50,000+ places to eat in Bangkok alone? Whether you’re here for five-star dining or a funky little café, you’ll find all kinds of gastronomical delights when you arrive. But here’s a secret: head down to the streets instead of the restaurants. The street food is a bargain, and praised by locals and visitors alike.
If you’re not eating or relaxing, you’re probably shopping. Sightseeing in Bangkok always includes some sort of purchasing spree, whether it’s clothing, crafts, artwork, or that perfect piece of furniture for your living room.
Don’t think you have to head to bed just because the sun has gone down. The nightlife here is hopping with clubs, glowing lights, and river cruises.
What will you do in Bangkok?

Travel video about destination Bangkok in Thailand.
Bangkok is synonymous with lively chaos but Thailand's great metropolis is also a compelling experience for the senses and a fascinating city full of contrast.
We begin our sightseeing tour early in the morning about 100 kilometres southwest of the city centre at the floating market of Damnoen Saduak. Here, men and women travel on the canals by sampan amid a fertile landscape. Fruit, vegetables, flowers and all manner of goods are available and many of the boats have a kitchen in which fresh food is prepared to satisfy hearty appetites.
Back in the city we visit some of its most important sights, such as the Wat Phra Kaeo, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the most important place of worship for the Thai people. Bangkok's most important landmark is also its most beautiful temple complex, a wonderful work of art comprising numerous splendid buildings.
Today, the Royal Grand Palace is used for national ceremonies and coronations. During the city's early years, it was originally built as a residence for King Rama. The magnificent residence of the former god king shines out in all the typical splendor and elegance of the Far East, a Siamese heaven on Earth!
In the 19th century, Bangkok contained several canals known as 'Klongs' and most of them have subsequently been replaced with streets but a few have survived. Traveling on the canals is a wonderful way to take in the sights and for centuries, life on the city's waterways has changed very little.
Bangkok is a typical Asian city with much exotic hustle, bustle and excitement. It is truly a city that never sleeps!

Fruit, vegetables, flowers and all manner of goods are available and many of the boats have a kitchen in which fresh food is prepared to satisfy hearty appetites.

http://bookinghunter.com
Bangkok is the capital and the most populous city of Thailand. The city occupies 1,568.7 square kilometres (605.7 sq mi) in the Chao Phraya River delta in Central Thailand, and has a population of over eight million, or 12.6 percent of the country's population. Over fourteen million people (22.2 percent) live within the surrounding Bangkok Metropolitan Region, making Bangkok an extreme primate city, dwarfing Thailand's other urban centres in terms of importance.
The most important places to visit in Bangkok are: Wat Arun (Bangkok has one of the greatest collections of temples in the world. This Buddhist temple, also known as "Temple of the Dawn" is quite spectacular), Lumpini Park (Bangkok is a massive city; Lumpini Park offers an excellent escape from the city's hustle and bustle. You can just relax or engage in an activity), Wat Pho (it is said to be the largest and oldest Buddhist temple in Bangkok. An extremely large statue of a reclining Buddha is a big draw), Floating Market (truly a unique experience where many vendors prepare food right on their tiny boats. You will find a festive atmosphere along with delicious food), Wat Traimit (another famous temple in Bangkok, it is located close to China Town and is known as also known as the "The Temple of the Golden Buddha"), Vimanmek Palace (this magnificent former royal palace is the world's largest golden teak wood mansion), Chinatown (a colorful area with many interesting shop and of course fantastic Chinese food), Ayutthaya (located outside of Bangkok, this ancient city was founded over 600 years ago. Amidst the remaining temple structures, you can relive its history), Chatuchak (believed to be the largest market in Thailand, the exciting market has literally thousands of stalls and tens of thousands of daily visitors), Grand Palace (constructed in the 18th century, undoubtedly it is the most popular attraction of Bangkok and a must see for anyone visiting this city) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Bangkok travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Houses standing on piles in the water of the canals, the floating market and temples with their glistening mosaics are all living memories from the past, but the skyscrapers standing on the bank of Cho Praya and the luxury cars speeding on the highway are all forerunners of the new century. Old and new, rich and poor, backwards and ultra modern; Bangkok is a place of controversies. In the buzzing of the 8 million metropolis the Royal Palace and the buddhist monasteries are the islands of peace and silence. One can see a 5 and a half ton Buddha statue, temples covered with marble, mirrors and gold, and relics each more beautiful than the previous one. We can take a trip from Bangkok to the ruins of the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, the famous bridge of the River Kwai, but the beaches of Pattaya are not far either.

I hope you enjoyed my travel video! I've just returned from my first ever trip to Bangkok, Thailand. What a city!
Bangkok has been on my bucket list forever and I'm happy to share the city did not disappoint! No matter what you're in the mood for, Bangkok has it! The temples are absolutely stunning and the nightlife is of course lively. I suggest going first thing in the morning to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho as the crowds get quite intense.

Thermae Bar, Bangkok - Hidden CAMERA! - Bangkok 2016
This bar is mostly frequented by Japanese men but is quite an interesting spot since the girls in there (the ones you see lined up) are actually "regular" girls. Meaning they are not typical bar girls but rather just want to make some extra money.

Travel the World: Bangkok Thailand | TravelVic
Bangkok is the capital and most populous city of Thailand.
The city is well known for its vibrant street life and cultural landmarks, as well as its notorious red-light districts. The historic Grand Palace and Buddhist temples including Wat Arun and Wat Pho stand in contrast with other tourist attractions such as the nightlife scenes of Khaosan Road and Patpong. Bangkok is among the world's top tourist destinations. It is named the most visited city in MasterCard's Global Destination Cities Index, and was named "World's Best City" for four consecutive years by Travel + Leisure magazine.

On Day 6 of this Bangkok food and travel video guide series we got a bit of a late morning start, and from our hotel we headed straight to Silom Soi 10 Food Court (ศูนย์อาหาร สีลมซอย 10) for lunch. After that we went to the Bangkok Snake Farm to see a snake show, and then had a coffee. For dinner we ate at Niyom Restaurant (ร้านนิยม) and to end the day we went to Asiatique The Riverfront - a big night market entertainment area.
00:55 Silom Soi 10 Food Court (ศูนย์อาหาร สีลมซอย 10) - If you’re ever in the Silom area of Bangkok during lunch on the weekdays, one of my favorite places to get some Thai street food is the Silom Soi 10 Food Court (ศูนย์อาหาร สีลมซอย 10). You just walk into the lane, and it will open up into a giant market. Just walk through all the clothes, and soon you’ll find yourself in a wonderland of food - just about all Thai street food that you can imagine and more is available at this office food court in Bangkok. I decided to start with a plate of yam mama (ยำม่าม่า), which is instant noodle salad. I’ll first tell you that this is not a dish I’d normally eat, but the stall at this market is extremely famous, so had to give it a try. It was alright, but definitely Thai instant noodles. I then had a plate of khao man gai (ข้าวมันไก่), which is the Thai version of chicken rice. I liked how you could add as many chilies and ginger and sauce to your plate of chicken rice. Overall good, but chicken rice is what it is. I felt like I need some flavor though, so Ying bought me a bowl of khao soi gai (ข้าวซอยไก่) chicken curry noodles, and it was a great way to end the lunch here at this amazing Bangkok food court. If you go, you have so many choices of what to eat.
9:41 Lumpini Park (สวนลุมพินี) - Located in Silom, Lumpini Park (สวนลุมพินี) is the central park of Bangkok. I didn’t really have plans to go, but since we had some extra time before the snake park show started, we walked around for a while. It’s a park that’s well worth visiting when you’re in Bangkok. A great place to walk around and get some exercise.
10:36 Bangkok Snake Farm (สถานเสาวภา) - Located at the Thai Red Cross Society, Bangkok Snake Farm (สถานเสาวภา) offers a snake demonstration at 2 pm, and we got there just in time for the snake show. One of the reasons it’s such a good show for me is because it’s very educational. The snake show is not just for the show, but since at the facility they create anti-venoms, they teach a lot about snakes, and have a real respect for snakes. It’s a pretty cool snake show, and I think it’s well worth a visit when you’re in Bangkok (the Bangkok Snake Farm is featured in the 101 Things To Do In Bangkok eBook: https://migrationology.com/store/ebook-101-things-to-do-in-bangkok/)
13:31 Niyom Restaurant (ร้านนิยม) - For dinner we went to a restaurant at Silom Plaza called Niyom Restaurant (ร้านนิยม) that specializes in Chinese Teochew food. Along with a bunch of other good, but on the plain side dishes, my favorite dish of the night was moo dom (หมูต้ม), boiled pork served with a fermented bean sauce and chilies and ginger.
18:47 Asiatique The Riverfront - One of the main Bangkok night markets is Asiatique The Riverfront, and the easiest way to get there is to take the BTS skytrain to Saphan Taksin, and from there they have a free shuttle boat that will take you directly to Asiatique The Riverfront. The market is very modern, and includes a mix of store, souvenir shops, and restaurant, and places just to hang out. It’s a huge Bangkok tourist attraction, but it’s a pleasant place to walk around in the evening. We didn’t really do much, and then headed back to our hotel.
Thank you for watching this Bangkok travel guide video - Day 6.

It’s a good place to rent a bicycle, and a place that feels like you’re far removed from the city, yet you’re literally just across the river, so you can see all of Bangkok. We first headed to Wat Bang Krachao Nok Pier (ท่าเรือวัดบางกระเจ้านอก) and caught a boat across the Chao Phraya river. From there, Ying and I rented bicycles, and biked around for a while. We didn’t actually do too much, but the beauty of going there is just biking on the elevated walkways - it’s really beautiful. We stopped for a couple snacks including a wood apple, which are not easy to find in Bangkok and I love them! We also had a couple Thai desserts before heading back on the boat back to Bangkok - the big city.
7:26 Heng Chun Seng (ร้าน เฮ้งชุนเส็ง) - For lunch we headed to Heng Chun Seng (ร้าน เฮ้งชุนเส็ง), an awesome Thai beef fire pot restaurant. Ying and I were so hungry after the bicycle ride, that we ended up eating not just one, but two flaming hot beef fire pots. They are delicious. We had one maw fai ruam (หม้อไฟรวม), which is a beef fire pot with everything includes, and then we also had a maw fai neau buay (หม้อไฟเนื้อเปื่อย), which is only the beef - if you prefer no organs mixed in, this is the one you should order. They also serve Thai pork satay, which is pretty delicious here too. For more details about this Thai beef restaurant, check out my review here: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2012/08/fire-pot-beef-soup-heng-chun-seng/
15:18 Khlong Toey Market (ตลาดคลองเตย) - One of the biggest and most exciting fresh market in Bangkok is Khlong Toey Market (ตลาดคลองเตย), and it’s busy throughout the day and night. After having our flaming beef fire pots, we took a stroll though Khlong Toey Market (ตลาดคลองเตย), and enjoyed the atmosphere and the colorful pandamonium of everything. It’s a great fresh wet market to walk around when you’re in Bangkok. We stopped for a couple snacks, including some sweet tamarind and some grilled banana - which are one of my favorite snacks on the streets of Bangkok.
20:07 Dinner at Vietnamese and More, and Kiew Muang Jeen (ร้านเกี๊ยวเมืองจีน) - Ying and I didn’t really have any dinner plans, but then Dwight (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs6-BMxPKPci6fODI8nJ6xw) called me and we ended up going to a friend’s restaurant called Vietnamese and More. I ordered the Xui Mai Meatball with Tomato Sauce Banh Mi, which was delicious - it had been a while since I had a meatball sub. We then headed to Kiew Muang Jeen (ร้านเกี๊ยวเมืองจีน) for some Chinese food. The food was alright, not amazing, but the eggplant fries were the best.

#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 3: On Day 3 of this video series we first visited Wat Saket (which is known also as the Golden Mount), and then we proceeded on to Loha Prasat. After that we were hungry and went to hear at a Thai rice and curry restaurant at Nang Loeng Market.
00:30 Wat Saket (วัดสระเกศ) - 20 THB ($0.56) - This is a temple not too far from Democracy Monument in Bangkok, and it’s famous as being the Golden Mount, situated on the top of a man-made little hill. One of the highlights of visiting Wat Saket (วัดสระเกศ) when you’re in Bangkok is being able to climb to the top of the staircase (it’s not too tall), and getting a great view of Bangkok from the center of the city.
2:43 Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท) - Free - This is another one of the less visited temples in Bangkok, and it’s actually a really interesting temple, also known as the Metal Castle for its shape and design. Just like Wat Saket, you can climb to the top of Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท) for another nice view of Bangkok.
4:03 Kluay tod, Man tod (กล้วยทอด มันทอด) - 20 THB ($0.56) - One of the many common Thai street food snacks around Bangkok is deep fried bananas. And walking on our way to lunch we stopped for a bag of deep fried bananas at a very famous place that usually serves them to people in their cars waiting in traffic.
5:56 Nang Loeng Market (ตลาดนางเลิ้ง) and Khao Gaeng Ruttana (ข้าวแกงรัตนา) - We walked over to one of my favorite markets in Bangkok, and although there are plenty of things to choose from to eat, Ying and I both love Khao Gaeng Ruttana (ข้าวแกงรัตนา), the Thai rice and curry restaurant at the market. We got seats, and ordered a number of different dishes. One of the best dishes I had for our meal was hor mok (ห่อหมก), and fish and seafood curry made with Thai curry paste and lots of coconut cream. It was creamy and rich, and so flavorful. At the end of incredible rice and curry meal, I saw them bring out the pan of stink beans and shrimp and had to order it as well - it was outstanding. It’s one of my favorite Thai rice and curry restaurants in Bangkok.
12:50 Nam ponlamai pan (น้ำผลไม้ปั่น) - 35 THB - Located within Nang Loeng Market, there’s an amazing stall that serves some of the finest fruit shakes in Bangkok.
15:09 Marble Temple (วัดเบญจมบพิตร) - 20 THB ($0.56), Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall (พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคม), Vimanmek Mansion (พระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ) - After finishing lunch we walked over to Dusit, which is the main government district of Bangkok to do some of the most famous things to do in Bangkok - some of the most well known attractions. Both Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall (พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคม), Vimanmek Mansion (พระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ) are worth a visit when you’re in Bangkok and you can get access to both of them using your same entrance ticket as the Grand Palace (so keep your ticket).
18:59 Kuay Teow Neau Nai Soi (ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อนายโส่ย) - For dinner we came out to a small restaurant that serves Thai beef noodles. I ordered a bowl of kuay teow neua buay pisayt (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อเปื่อยพิเศษ), braised beef and noodles. Read more about this restaurant here: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2015/12/thai-beef-noodles-near-khao-san-road/
21:35 Lookshin Tongchai (ลูกชิ้นธงชัย) - 7 THB ($0.20) per stick - Finally to end the night, we had a couple skewers of some excellent home-made grilled meatballs.

Duck restaurant: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2015/02/roast-duck-bangkok/
1:38 Soi 6 Pochana (ซอย6โภชนา) - One of my favorite places to eat roast duck in Bangkok is at Samyan Market at a restaurant called Soi 6 Pochana (ซอย6โภชนา). We first started with a plate of khao na bet (ข้าวหน้าเป็ด), which is just roast duck and rice, and then we also had a plate of khanom jeeb goong (ขนมจีบกุ้ง), which are shrimp dumplings, both of which were excellent. Another thing that I really like to eat at this roast duck restaurant is giew nam (เกี๋ยวน้ำ), like won ton dumplings, and they do a fantastic job of making them here. But finally, the absolute best reason to go to Soi 6 Pochana (ซอย6โภชนา) in Bangkok is to order a plate of bet pad kra prao (เป็ดผัดกระเพรา), roast duck stir fried with garlic, chilies, and holy basil. Normally this dish would be prepared with pork or chicken or some kind of seafood, but using leftover roast duck, the dish is elevated to the next level of delicious.
6:16 Jim Thompson House Museum (บ้านจิมทอมสัน) - One of the most famous attractions in Bangkok is Jim Thompson House Museum (บ้านจิมทอมสัน), which is located in the Siam area of Bangkok, right across the street from MBK shopping mall. I had visited when I first came to Bangkok years ago, so this was a good opportunity to go again. After paying the entrance fee you then have to go to the entrance of the house and get in line for a tour - they only offer group tours of the Jim Thompson House Museum (บ้านจิมทอมสัน), so you can’t just walk around on your own. It’s a worthwhile attraction to visit when you’re in Bangkok.
8:45 Gallery Drip Coffee (แกลลอรี่ กาแฟดริป) - Located at Bangkok Art and Culture Center, Gallery Drip Coffee (แกลลอรี่ กาแฟดริป) is one of the best coffee shops in Bangkok that serves drip coffee.
10:03 MBK Shopping Mall and Vegetarian Thai Food - After a great cup of coffee, we headed to MBK, which is one of the most famous shopping malls in Bangkok, to do a little shopping and to have some quick lunch at the food court. I wanted to look for a camera bag, which I successfully found, and then we headed to the giant food court - which by the way is a pretty good place to get a bite to eat when you’re in the Siam area. I chose to eat at a well known Thai vegetarian food restaurant stall at the MBK food court, and it’s set up rice and curry style, so you just choose your different dish to go on top of a plate of rice. The vegetarian food at MBK Shopping mall is always good!
13:15 Shopping at Pratunam Market - One of the most famous shopping markets in Bangkok is Pratunam, and it’s a place that many people come from around the world just to go shopping. It’s a specifically wholesale market, but vendors do also sell individual things. At Bangkok’s Pratunam market you’ll find mostly clothes, but there are also little souvenir and random things from Thailand, and if you search around enough you’ll find just about everything you can imagine somewhere within Pratunam market or the area.
15:44 Thai Street Food outside Central World Mall - During the daytime outside Central World mall, you’ll find a lot of clothing street vendors, but starting in the evening, the scene changes to dinner and street food. I used to come here long ago to eat Thai grilled fish and other Isaan dishes, and the restaurants are still around. We sat at one of the stalls, and ordered up a few different dishes including a grilled fish and some green papaya salad. The food was alright, but not extremely good - I think it used to be better before. I wouldn’t highly recommend it, but it is a very convenient place to eat Thai street food in the Siam and Pratunam area.

Dubbed the “Bangkok Hilton” by the West, Thailand’s Bangkwang jail is one of the most notorious prisons in the world.
Until now, the reality of life in Bangkwang has remained a secret. But after two years of negotiations between the BBC and Thai officials – and for the first time ever – television cameras were allowed inside. The film tells the human stories of prisoners struggling to stay sane in the jail’s cramped conditions, and the Thai staff struggling to cope with the ever-increasing number of inmates.
The Real Bangkok Hilton brought in incredible audiences for the BBC, with an average of some 5 million people tuning in to the program for the premier, double the usual audience figures for the series.
Бангкок Хилторн - это распространенное на Западе прозвище знаменитой тюрьмы в Бангкоке, правильное ее название - Bangkwang Central Prison, и это одна из самых тщательно охроняемых тюрем в мире.

#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 2:
Day 2 was a huge day of sightseeing in Bangkok, and we visited many of the most famous attractions in the city starting with the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun. We also went to one of my favorite Thai street food markets in Bangkok: Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง).
00:38 Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew (วัดพระแก้ว) - In order to try and beat the main rush, we went to Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew (วัดพระแก้ว) early in the morning just after they opened. We still didn’t beat the crowds - it was already crazy busy. But it was still fun, and well worth to go. I had only gone to the Grand Palace Bangkok one previous time, when I first arrived in Bangkok back in 2009, so it was good to go again. Entrance fee is a pretty steep 500 Thai Baht, but at least if you keep your ticket, you can enter a few other attractions within 7 days using the same ticket.
4:48 Tha Phrachan (ท่าพระจันทร์) and Lunch at Ran Loong Lui Restaurant (ร้านลุงหลุย) - After going to the Grand Palace Bangkok, Ying and I were both really hungry so we walked over to Tha Phrachan (ท่าพระจันทร์) and walked down an alley and arrived to a restaurant called Ran Loong Lui Restaurant (ร้านลุงหลุย) that we used to go to years ago. The food was alright, not the best Thai food, but it was a nice place to sit next to the Chao Phraya River.
10:33 Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์) - We then walked over to Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์), which is also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Entrance price is 100 Thai Baht. It had also been a while since I had been to Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์), and Ying and I walked around for a bit. Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์) is also home to the original Thai massage.
12:40 Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) - After going to Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์), we then took the Bangkok river ferry to Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง), which is one of the best food markets in central Bangkok. After walking around for a little while, we headed to Som Tam Sida (ส้มตำสีดา) an Isaan food restaurant right within the market. We ordered a bunch of different dishes including tom saeb neua (ต้มแซ่บเนื้อ), Isaan beef soup, som tam boo pla ra (ส้มตำปูปลาร้า) - green papaya salad with fermented fish, soop nawmai (ซุปหน่อไม้) - bamboo shoot salad, yam tua pu (ยำถั่วพู) - winged bean salad, yam makua (ยำมะเขือยาว) - eggplant salad, ;aab pla duk (ลาบปลาดุก) - catfish salad, and finally a plate of sai krok Isaan moo (ไส้กรอกอีสานหมู) - Isaan sausage for good measure. It was a delicious Isaan feast!
24:10 Wat Arun (วัดอรุณ) - From Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) we walked over to Wat Arun (วัดอรุณ), the Temple of Dawn. Unfortunately they were doing some renovation on the temple this time, so I wasn’t able to climb the stairs to the top. Price for entrance is 50 THB ($1.40).
For dinner, I was honestly still quite full from the huge lunch Thai feast at Wang Lang Market, so I just stopped at a quick grilled chicken cart and had a few skewers of grilled chicken and sticky rice for dinner. It was a long day of visiting attractions in Bangkok, but it was a good day.
