Baja The Other California - The Secrets of Nature

Baja California, brazo poderoso,
al servicio eterno de la Patria estás;
libre y soberano, bravo y laborioso,
soldado en la guerra y obrero en la paz.
De zafiros y perlas vestida,
bajo el sol que en tu frente fulgura,
eres diosa de rara hermosura,
eres Venus que surge del mar;
eres casta doncella que cuida
en el Templo la llama sagrada
la vestal con amor consagrada
a velar por la patria inmortal.
Baja California, brazo poderoso,
al servicio eterno de la Patria estás;
libre y soberano, bravo y laborioso,
soldado en la guerra y obrero en la paz.
El trabajo fecundo es doctrina
que sustenta tu vida afanosa,
y por eso sabrás valerosa
defender la Justicia Social.
¡Salve, oh, tierra, que firme y erguida
quieres verte, taller y trinchera,
convertida en el asta-bandera
del glorioso Pendón Nacional!

The San Felipe Malecon is the center of all the action in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. Catch fishing boats, do some surfing or sailing boating, or enjoy people watching.
The Malecon is a San Felipe boardwalk, one of the best places to see and be seen in San Felipe. Vendors walk around constantly offering their handmade goods and foods, allowing beach goers to hang out in the sand while the shopping comes to them. Live music can be found up and down the Malecon, and its location right up against the Sea of Cortex makes for a great photo op!
If fishing is your thing, head down to the Malecon for a guided fishing tour. Go out on a small fishing boat to the places only locals know about. For a more adventurous day out on the Malecon, seek out a parasailing guide or ask a local about how to rent a four wheeler. When it comes to fun in San Felipe you’re guaranteed to find it on the Malecon. During the day, it is a great place for families to take a stroll, taste local cuisines, listen to live music, and pick up a few souvenirs for friends and family back home. As the sun goes down over the Sea of Cortez, the Malecon transforms into a popular night spot, where people come to drink, dance, eat and party. Every night is different out on the Malecon, which is what makes it such a fun and exciting part of San Felipe. It’s very possible to walk up to a big crowd of people, only to see a few locals engaging in a dance battle. The Malecon brings out the fun, silly, and “ready to party” side of people! See 1:50 for a dance party that gets crazy!
For residents staying in the luxurious resort community of El Dorado Ranch, the Malecon is a quick drive away. Many residents like to head down in the morning to catch a fishing tour or lay out in the sun, head back to their vacation rental to rest, and come back at night to party.

One of my favorite places to stay is Mexico's Baja California Sur. Baja California is a state in the north of the country and it´s really beautiful. If you´re planning to take vacation in Mexico, you should listen to the following tips: Hotels in Baja California will give you the ideal basis to travel Mexico if you don´t want to see the typical places of Mexican tourism. I promise you will find gorgeous nature with incredible and calm beaches next to your Baja hotel. You get to know the Mexican culture and will have lots of fun. Surfing, fishing, swimming, golf, hiking, parasailing, are only a short number of activities, I could definitely go on. To increase your Mexico tour to a never-ever-forget-level, you can even do whale watching at Baja California, which is an unbelievable experience. These giant animals are really impressive.

The Rough Guide to Baja California
The first edition of the Rough Guide to Baja California checks out the peninsula in its whole. From the frenetic border
town of Tijuana to the magnificent setting of Los Cabos, the 24-page full-color area presents all of the regions
highlights. The guide consists of in-depth listings for all the top places to stay, eat and drink, whatever your budget,
plus the new" Author" s Pick" function to highlight the best choices. There is a lot of practical suggestions on a wide
range of outdoor activities including: travelling, browsing, whale-watching and sport fishing. This edition includes 2
full-color inserts: Baja's Food & Drink and Water Activities and comes complete with maps and prepare for the entire area.
Lonely Planet Baja California & Los Cabos
Commune with whale calves as their mothers nudge them to the surface area for their very first breath.
Get dirty on the badder-than-bad backroad to Bahia San Luis Gonzaga.
Suck down a caguama (that's Baja for beer) as you view the sun embeddeded in Punta Abreojos.
Discover the savory reality behind Baja's world-renowned invention, the Caesar salad.
Baja California Plant Field Guide
This new edition of the Baja California Plant Guidebook talks about or describes over 715 different plants in more than
350 genera in 111 households. Of these, around 32 % are endemic to the region, 50 % can also be discovered in southern
California (e.g., San Diego County), and about 45 % are new additions in this edition. In a field guide like this it is
difficult to attend to all the plant species in our area, but we have actually tried to compensate by talking about the
overall variety of the picked plant households and genera in introductory paragraphs preceding each species conversation.
In this manner, we intend to provide the reader a better understanding of the plant diversity that is not directly
provided by our book in images and text.
Moon Baja: Including Cabo San Lucas
Skilled author and Mexico lover Nikki Goth Itoi knows the best way to experience Baja-- from exploring Valle de Guadalupe,
Baja's wine country, to riding the waves at the area's opened surfing spots. Itoi offers a variety of suggested travel
approaches, including Island Hopping, Around the Cape in Seven Days, and Beach Love. Total with pointers on fishing and
kayaking in Loreto and info on night Art Strolls in San José del Cabo, Moon Baja offers travelers the tools they need to
develop a more individual and memorable experience.
Fodor's Los Cabos: with Todos Santos and La Paz
Los Cabos has turneded into one of the world's top golf locations, with awesome fairways along the Sea of Cortez and
throughout the desert. Many brand-new courses are emerging, and Fodor's golf experts provide expert ideas to help visitors
choose the best eco-friendlies for each level of golf enthusiast. Destination health clubs are ending up being associated
with Cabos and our authors have included a variety of the most enjoyable, indulgent centers for the supreme Baja
rejuvenation. And, naturally, an option of the best brand-new dining establishments is provided as well.
Baja California Plant Field Guide
This is a total revision of the very first botanical guidebook on this subject. This modification, like the initial
edition, goes over the more typical and dominant woody plants, but also annuals that are frequently seen in Baja
California. Over 400 plants are talked about together with 285 color photographs, and nearly 40 more pages of text have
been contributed to bring the total to 256. The chapters on location, geology, phytogeography, environment, cacti and
endemism have significantly more information than the very first.

Travel video about destination El Golfo de California in Mexico.
Larger than Italy and twice as long as Florida, the Baja California is a huge peninsula at the southern end of California on the western border of the Golfo California.
A few drops of rain in this region are enough to make the soil explode with life and transform the land into a vast undulating ocean of green palm trees and fruit-bearing cacti.
Remote haciendas interrupt the savannah-like landscape with estates so vast that it's necessary to travel across them by motor vehicle.
Copper Canyon, 'The Barranca Del Cobre', is 4 times larger and 90 metres deeper than the Grand Canyon. Powerful torrents of water created the region's deep canyons and its igneous stones were subjected to powerful erosion, thus creating bizarre rock formations.
At a height of 35 metres, the Cascada Cusárare Waterfall is an impressive sight as its magnificent crystal clear water plunges down into the deep abyss below. This part of Mexico, located on the Tropic of Cancer, divides the country into two climatic zones of the same size, temperate and tropical. El Golfo De California and its contrasting deserts, arid mountain regions and lush vegetation is a wonderfully remote landscape whose unique beauty captures the imagination of all who experience it.

Located in Baja California Sur, Mexico, the Los Cabos Open of Surf features the World Surf League Qualifying Series 6000 Women's event at the famed Zippers surf break.
Since 2013, female athletes from around the world have been traveling to Los Cabos in hopes of earning vital points towards their professional surfing career, with hopes of one day qualifying for a spot amongst the elite women competing on the World Championship Tour. With high stakes at hand, and some of female surfing's best athletes in attendance, this year's Los Cabos Open of Surf showcased plenty of action and exciting upsets. This year's event champion, Nikki van Dijk, couldn't be happier to claim the prestigious title.
Though most of the competitors were focused on the trophy and prize money, none could help but enjoy the incredible scenery surrounding their beachside hotels, the authentic food, and consistently friendly local people.
The Los Cabos Open of Surf is the perfect reason to book your next trip to visit the southern tip of Baja California Surf, Mexico. Not only do you have the opportunity to enjoy the competition, booths, vendors, food trucks, and live concerts, but there is so much to see in both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas: Hydro Flyboarding, snorkeling, SUPing, zip lining, surfing, nightlife, and so much more!

From San Francisco overland to the tip of the Baja peninsula, via Sierra de la Laguna, San Jose del Cabo and Cabo Pulmo National Park.
I went pig hunting, surfing in the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez, and diving in the thriving reefs of the Cabo Pulmo National Park. The sheer abundance of life on this peninsula surprised me; it was more than just desolate deserts, but also a land of over 5,000 species of animals.
The Baja Peninsula is one of my favorite places in Mexico, and I certainly cannot wait to get back!

Baja California Travel - Baja California is both the northernmost and westernmost state of Mexico. Before becoming a state in 1953, the area was known as the North Territory of Baja California. It has an area of 71,576 km2 (27,636 sq mi), or 3.57% of the land mass of Mexico and comprises the northern half of the Baja California peninsula, north of the 28th parallel. The state is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by Sonora, the U.S. State of Arizona, and the Gulf of California (also known as the Sea of Cortez), and on the south by Baja California Sur. Its northern limit is the U.S. state of California.
The state has a population of 2,844,469 (2005 census), and estimated 3,165,776 (June 2009) much more than the sparsely populated Baja California Sur to the south, and similar to San Diego County on its north. Over 75% of the population lives in the capital city, Mexicali, Ensenada, or in Tijuana. Other important cities include San Felipe, Playas de Rosarito and Tecate. The population of the state is composed of Mestizos, mostly immigrants from other parts of Mexico, and, as with most northern Mexican states, a large population of Mexicans of European ancestry, and also a large minority group of East Asian, Middle Eastern and indigenous descent. Additionally, there is a large immigrant population from the United States due to its proximity to San Diego and the cheaper cost of living compared to San Diego. There is also a significant population from Central America. Many immigrants moved to Baja California for a better quality of life and the number of higher paying jobs in comparison to the rest of Mexico and Latin America.
Baja California is the twelfth largest state by area in Mexico. Its geography ranges from beaches to forests and deserts. The backbone of the state is the Sierra de Baja California, where the Picacho del Diablo, the highest point of the peninsula, is located. This mountain range effectively divides the weather patterns in the state. In the northwest, the weather is semi-dry and mediterranean. In the narrow center, the weather changes to be more humid due to altitude. It is in this area where a few valleys can be found, such as the Valle de Guadalupe, the major wine producer area in Mexico. To the east of the mountain range, the Sonoran Desert dominates the landscape. In the south, the weather becomes drier and gives place to the Vizcaino Desert. The state is also home to numerous islands off both of its shores. In fact, the westernmost point in Mexico, the Guadalupe Island, is part of Baja California. The Coronado, Todos Santos and Cedros Islands are also on the Pacific Shore. On the Gulf of California, the biggest island is the Angel de la Guarda, separated from the peninsula by the deep and narrow Canal de Ballenas. ( source Wikipedia )

Veronica Hill explores the attractions of Long Beach in this episode of "California Travel Tips." Located 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, on the border of Orange County, Long Beach makes a great day trip or long weekend. It's LA's second largest city — home to the historic Queen Mary, dozens of hip art galleries, and one of California's best aquariums, Aquarium of the Pacific.
Most Long Beach restaurants and shops are found at Shoreline Village. You can check out Wyland's famous Planet Ocean mural at Long Beach Sports Arena, or head to The Pike for a spin on the Ferris wheel. The 3-mile Long Beach Bike Path travels along the waterfront from Shoreline Village to Belmont Shore.
Several fun Long Beach events are held throughout the year, including the popular Long Beach Grand Prix (http://www.lbgp.com) in April, and Comic and Horror Con, held twice yearly at Long Beach Convention Center.
One of the city's signature attractions is the RMS Queen Mary ship, which has been docked here since 1967. Sailing the Atlantic between 1936 and 1967, it was one of the most luxurious ocean liners of its time. Roughly twice the size of Titanic, the Queen Mary weighs over 81,000 tons and stretches more than 1,000 feet. Check out the Upper Deck, which offers great views of Downtown Long Beach, then enjoy a cocktail in the Observation Bar, which was once the First Class Lounge. For a fun evening on ship, enjoy dinner in Sir Winston's, followed by a ghost tour with paranormal expert Erika Frost.
The Aquarium of the Pacific is another good bet — filled with one of California's most impressive collections of Pacific Ocean sea life. More than a million gallons of sea water were barged in from Catalina Island to create this underwater sanctuary, which is divided into three major regions. The Southern California/Baja Gallery is home to playful seals, skates and rays, while the Northern Pacific Gallery showcases sub-arctic critters like horned puffins, sea otters and Japanese spider crabs. One of the most impressive galleries is the Tropical Pacific region, where a three-story tall predator tank provides a glimpse of barracudas, giant black sea bass and leopard sharks. In Shark Lagoon, you can pet bamboo, zebra and epaulette sharks in a shallow pool, then feed the birds in Lorikeet Forest.
Dozens of Long Beach cruises and whale watching trips are offered throughout the day, along with daily jaunts to Catalina Island. Around sunset, head south to Naples, where you can enjoy a romantic gondola ride through the canals with Long Beach Gondola Getaway.
