A LAPD officer and a second person were charged by federal prosecutors Monday with trying to smuggle a Mexican citizen into the United States, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Officer Carlos Curiel Quezada Jr., 34, and Angelica Godinez, 31, were stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers Saturday evening when they drove a white 2014 Nissan Juke through the Otay Mesa border crossing, the Times reported.
Quezada and Godinez showed officials their passports said they were going to Mission Hills, according to the federal charging document. However, when the car scanned at a secondary inspection point, officials noticed something unusual in the vehicle's trunk. They opened it to find 26-year-old Antanasio Perez-Avalos hiding in the spare tire compartment, according to federal prosecutors.
Perez-Avalos "is a Mexican citizen with no legal ability to enter the United States," U.S. Customs officials said.
Quezada and Godinez have been charged with bringing a person into the U.S. without presenting them to an appropriate immigration officer at a port of entry, according to the criminal complaint. Both have pleaded not guilty, with Quezada's bail set at $20,000.
Quezada has also been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the LAPD, the Los Angeles Times reported Officer Rosario Herrera as saying. Herrera added that Quezada was stationed with the department's Hollywood Division.

My name is Chloe. I live for travel and adventure and for a long time, I have dreamt of living in Mexico, learning about the culture, improving my Spanish, and generally immersing myself in the eclectic atmosphere that a city of such a scale is sure to generate.
Many people think I am crazy to pick such a huge metropolis with over 21 million inhabitants but my thinking is: the bigger the city, the more there is to see and do! I’m told that no other country in Latin America has such a vibrant mix of cultures, food, colours, traditions, languages, music etc. and to experience all of this at a time when the city is going through a cultural revival is just too tempting to ignore.
So, here I am packing my bags and saying my goodbyes to family and friends and preparing myself for the trip of a lifetime. I know some of them are worried about me living in a city that most of us believe has issues with safety but I am determined to face the challenges head-on and find out for myself whether...

MAHARASHTRA
Maharashtra (Marathi: महाराष्ट्र mahārāṣṭra) is a state located in India. It is the second most populous after and third largest state by area in India. Maharashtra is also called breath of India being the richest state in India, contributing 15% of the country's industrial output.
Maharashtra is bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west, Gujarat and the Union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the northwest, Madhya Pradesh to the northeast, Chhattisgarh to the east, Karnataka to the south, Andhra Pradesh to the southeast, and Goa to the southwest. The state covers an area of 307,731 km2 (118,816 sq mi) or 9.84% of the total geographical area of India. Mumbai, the capital city of the state, is India's largest city and the financial capital of the nation. Nagpur is the second capital of the state. Marathi is the official language.
Maharashtra is the world's second most populous first-level administrative country sub-division. Were it a nation in its own right, Maharashtra would be the world's tenth most populous country ahead of Mexico, although it is only one sixth of Mexico's territorial area.
MATHERAN
Matheran (Marathi: माथेरान) is a city and a Hill Station municipal council in Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a hill station in Karjat Tahsil and is also the smallest hill station in India. It is located on the Western Ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m (2,625 feet) above sea level. It is located around 90 km from Mumbai, and 120 km from Pune. Matheran's proximity to the three Metros makes it a popular weekend getaway for urban residents. The name Matheran means "forest on the head" (of the mountain).
Matheran is an eco-sensitive region, declared by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. It is one of the few places in the world where vehicles are not allowed, which makes the place different from others. Matheran takes you over a hundred years back in time when there were no vehicles.
Because of vehicles being banned in Matheran, the place is quite peaceful despite the thousands of visitors coming to visit throughout the year.
There are lots of lookout points that provide spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Matheran has a reasonably dense forest cover.
DIWALI
Diwali (also spelled Devali in certain regions) or Deepavali, popularly known as the "festival of lights," is a festival celebrated between mid-October and mid-December for different reasons. ForHindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha ornirvana by Mahavira in 527 BCE.
The name "Diwali" is a contraction of "Deepavali" (Sanskrit: दीपावली Dīpāvalī), which translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas or dīpas) in Sanskrit: दीप) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Firecrackers are burst in order to drive away evil spirits. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.
The festival starts with Dhanteras on which most Indian business communities begin their financial year. The second day of the festival, Naraka Chaturdasi, marks the vanquishing of the demon Naraka by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama. Amavasya, the third day of Diwali, marks the worship of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth in her most benevolent mood, fulfilling the wishes of her devotees.

Travel video about destination Mexico.
Mexico, land of the Maya and Aztec, temples and beaches and with a population of twenty-six million the bubbling metropolis of Mexico City is a maze of streets, flat roofs, skyscrapers and parks. Earthquakes, floods and civil wars created this ‘City Of The Aztecs’. Templo Mayor, the main temple of the Aztecs, lies in the centre of the city, in the large main square, Zocalo. The magnificent Catedral Metropolitana with its massive dimensions and fine stone masonry dominates the square, with equal prominence being given to the Palacinio Nacional, governmental seat of the Mexican President. In 1519, when the Spanish conquerors reached Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec kingdom, they discovered a lagoon paradise with floating gardens, Xochimilco, a labyrinth of lakes and canals, which today can be explored by boat. Known as the Pearl Of The Pacific, Acapulco is a world famous holiday resort of the rich and famous where luxury liners dock each day and endless golden sands beckon a swim under the Caribbean sun. Each evening, the famous cliff jumpers of Acapulco congregate when, from a height of 42 metres, they jump fearlessly from the top of the La Quebrada Cliff into the narrow bay below. In the legendary ruins of Palenque, numerous monuments of the Maya culture can be found such as a palace, and several pyramids and temples. From the air, there is a unique view of the lush growth of the impenetrable forests around Palenque, and of Mexico’s most beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul. Chichen Itza is thought to have been built by the Mayas around 450 AD and over 500 years later the fighting TOLTEKEN took over the deserted city, which led to two hundred years of prosperity. Located in the north, Tequila is situated at the foot of the likewise named volcano and is world famous because it is here that the Mexican national drink is produced. But Mexico is much more than a drink…it is a feast for all the senses!

Mexico City is one of the financial powerhouses and cultural capitals of Latin America; it’s also a city of color.
Mexico City’s colors run deepest in the main square, the Zócalo, once the epicenter of the Mexican Civilization. Today, this area is presided over by a temple of a different kind, The Metropolitan Cathedral.
Throughout the Centro Histórico district, over 1500 heritage buildings vie for your attention. The streets of this district overflow with museums and galleries. For a window into the life and color of yesteryear, visit the fabulous Museo Franz Mayer.
For a change of color, head to Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. The park is home to cultural institutions such as the Auditorio Nacional and the Museum of Anthropology, as well as the popular Chapultepec Zoo.
Pay your respects to the Niños Heroes, a monument which honors the six boy soldiers who gave their lives defending Castillo de Chapultepec. Today, the castle serves as the National Museum of History.
Just to the north is Nuevo Polanco, a former warehouse area rapidly being transformed by new architectural visions, such as the Museo Soumaya and Museo Jumex.
To the south of the city is Coyoacán. In the early 20th century the district’s artists, writers and intellectuals inspired not only Mexico, but the entire world. Visit The Blue House, the birthplace of Frieda Kahlo, and the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, where these two giants of Mexican art worked, lived and loved.
Just to the south are the incredible murals and buildings of Ciudad Universitaria, which, when constructed in the 1950s, was the city’s largest single building project since the time of the Aztecs.
The spirit of bohemia continues amid the sophisticated hues and beauty of districts such as Roma and Condesa. At Xochimilco, simply float away on a riot of color on the last of the city’s Aztec canals.
In Mexico City there is color everywhere, and once you experience it, your memories will never fade.

Cancun is a city in southeastern Mexico, located on the southeast coast of the Yucatán Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It is a major world-renowned tourist destination, as well as being the seat of the municipality of Benito Juárez. The city is located on the Caribbean Sea, and is one of the easternmost points in Mexico. Cancún is located just north of Mexico's Caribbean coast resort band known as the Riviera Maya.
The most important places to visit in Cancun are: Chichen Itza (the world famous Mayan ruins with thousands of years of history are one of the most visited sites in the world), Isla Mujeres (Cancun is surrounded by spectacular scenery. Isla Mujeres, a small gorgeous island close to Cancun, is simply spectacular), Cenotes (these magical underwater natural pools are a big draw around the Cancun area. Many have rocky edge formations above them), Tulum (outside of Cancun, a unique site. You can go for a swim in turquoise waters and visit the famous ruins of Mayan civilization), Cancun beaches (Cancun, located in the Yucatan region of Mexico, has many great attractions. Start with the white sand beaches of Cancun City) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Cancun travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Travel video about destination Mexico City in Mexico.
Mexico City is a vivid metropolis and cosmopolitan city situated on a plateau in the central highlands at an altitude of 2, 286 metres, where the food is spicy and the Tequila flows freely! The city's fascinating history is reflected in both its art and architecture with age old charm, Indian roots and elegant buildings.
Until the Spanish conquest, the Templo Mayor was the setting of coronations and human sacrifice. The remains of the walls within which thousands of priests once lived are only a few steps from the buildings of the country's former Spanish conquerors.
Construction of the country's largest cathedral, the Catedral Metropolitana, took 250 years. The lower section is quite plain but the upper section is of Baroque and Neo-Classical design. Spanish administrative buildings and private houses in the heart of the city have replaced the temples of ancient Mexico and has resulted in a synthesis of both old and new architectural styles.
An elevator ascends the Torre Latino America, an earthquake-proof tower that was built in 1958. A viewing platform provides a wonderful panoramic view that includes the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Juárez Monument.
Located 50 kilometres from Mexico City are the ancient remains of Teotihuacan that was once a centre of trade, art and ritual ceremonies. At its zenith in 500 A.D., it was as large as Rome and its Sun Pyramid is one of the greatest building achievements of ancient times. In 1988 ,Unesco attributed this complex as being 'one of the most important cultural centres of mankind'.
The author Pablo Neruda once said: 'No other land on Earth possesses such remarkable human profoundness than Mexico and its inhabitants'. For surprises, sights and history galore, Mexico has to be at the top of the list!

Riviera Maya , also known as the Mayan Riviera, is a tourism district following the coastal Highway 307 which parallels the Caribbean coastline of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located on the eastern portion of the Yucatán Peninsula. This district historically started at the city of Playa del Carmen and ended at the village of Tulum, although the towns of Puerto Morelos situated to the north and between Playa del Carmen and Cancun as well as the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto situated 40 kilometres (25 mi) to the south of Tulum are both currently being promoted as part of the Riviera Maya tourist corridor.

The most important places to visit in Riviera Maya are: Chichen Itza (the world famous Mayan ruins with thousands of years of history are one of the most visited sites in the world), Playa del Carmen, Tulum (outside of Cancun, a unique site. You can go for a swim in turquoise waters and visit the famous ruins of Mayan civilization), Xcaret, Xplor and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Riviera Maya travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

http://www.expedia.com/Riviera-Maya.d602901.Destination-Travel-Guides
From frothy drinks on stunning beaches to guided tours of ancient ruins, the Riviera Maya has it all.
Located on the eastern edge of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, the Riviera Maya is just a half-hour away from the party town of Cancun. If you’re looking for something a little quieter in your vacation, start your Riviera Maya tour in Puerto Morelos, a quaint fishing town where you can rent a catamaran for an afternoon at sea, or say “buenos días” to a reptile at Crococun Zoo.
Playa del Carmen is a great home base for those who want to explore the rest of the Riviera Maya. Distinctly European in its architecture and layout, you’ll find plenty of charming places to stay, and enough boutique shopping and restaurants to keep you occupied for months. From Playa del Carmen, catch a ferry to Cozumel, an island just off the coast. You can wander for hours on its beaches, and its sleepy villages and friendly inhabitants may just become your home away from home.
Cozumel doesn’t stop when you reach the shoreline. It’s part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, where you can scuba or snorkel off the island’s sheltered western side. Whether you’re an advanced diver or are just beginning, the gentle waters here are the perfect place to introduce yourself to the local sea life.
Once you’re back on the mainland, do as the Mayans did and admire the view. The ruined city of Talum offers a breathtaking vista of the sea, and is considered one of Mexico’s first resorts. Why? Because this is where the royals went to watch beautiful sunrises and breathe in the fresh sea air—just like you’re getting ready to do.

The United States Penitentiary, Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX) is an American federal supermax prison for male inmates located in Fremont County, Colorado.[2][3] It is unofficially known as ADX Florence, Florence ADMAX, Supermax, or the Alcatraz of the Rockies.[4] Part of the Florence Federal Correctional Complex, which is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the United States Department of Justice, it houses the male inmates in the federal prison system who are deemed the most dangerous and in need of the tightest control. ADX also includes an adjacent minimum-security camp that, as of March 2014, houses more prisoners than the supermax unit.
The BOP has not designated a "supermax" facility for women. Women in the BOP system who are classified as "special management concerns" due to violence and/or escape attempts are confined in the administrative unit of Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas

Sam Ingrassia,
born in 1953, originates from St. Louis, Missouri. During his engineering studies at University of Missouri, Sam received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, resulting from a witness by a dying fraternity brother. After completion of a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, he married Vicki Crotser and they began studies at Florida Bible College. Sam graduated with Bachelors degrees in both Biblical Education and Theology, accompanied by a deep sense of God's calling into vocational Christian service. Following his ordination, he taught at Florida Bible Christian School; later as an Assistant Professor at Florida Bible College in the Bible Exposition and Theology Departments; and also served as Director of Student Ministries. Sam trained at Dallas Theological Seminary where he completed a Masters Degree in 1983.
Following a call into pastoral ministry, Sam served 9 years at Jacksonville Chapel in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. His role as Administrative Staff Pastor included oversight of both pastoral and office staff, adult teaching and preaching ministries, administrative duties, expansion task force chairmanship and full pastoral duties over a geographic portion of the Chapel's congregation. Developing a special heart for adult short term missions, from Jacksonville Chapel, Sam led 10 church teams into Haiti and Mexico from 1986 to 1991.
Since 1993, Sam has served as a Church Planter with e3 Partners Ministry, an international evangelism and church planting ministry headquartered in Plano Texas. Sam has led Church Planting Teams and Leadership Development Conferences to Russia, Sicily, Romania, Moldova, Venezuela, Paraguay, Colombia, Brazil, Haiti and Guatemala. He currently serves as Strategy Coordinator for e3 ministry in Colombia. In terms of executive positions, he has led the Church Planting Division, the Church Mobilization Division, the Staff Training Division in e3 Partners Academy, and currently serves on the President's Cabinet. Due to his length of service and experience, Sam serves in a principle role of staff training and mentoring.
Sam and his wife, Vicki, have been married since 1975 and have three young adult daughters, Christina, Nicole and Stephanie. Vicki is also on associate staff with e3 Partners, serving side by side in the field ministry.

WTK TEENS INTERVIEW WITH CARLOS MAY ADVISOR TO MAYOR OF INDIANAPOLIS

We The Kids would like to extend a special thank you to:
Carlos May
Senior Executive Policy Advisor to the Mayor
Office of the Mayor, Indianapolis, IN
Carlos May ” We must pay attention to the Constitution not as a Republican or Democrat or Independent but as an American.
More About Carlos May:
Mr. May has always been an active citizen, volunteering in the community and working in government. Friends of the Indianapolis-resident say he’s got a knack for getting things done — and getting it done right. They also say he’s about straight talk and common sense. Due to the recent decisions of Congress, Carlos says he feels compelled to stand up and take action. He believes the individual liberty that makes us American is under attack — infringed upon by unprecedented growth of government, higher taxes and intrusive laws and regulations into the lives of citizens. Currently, Carlos serves the City of Indianapolis, working as the Director of the Mayor's Office of Latino Affairs. Carlos takes great pride in helping the citizens of Indianapolis in his current role, but wants to do more — for the city and the nation. That’s why he’s decided to run for Indiana’s Seventh Congressional District seat. He intends to qualify in the 2012 Republican Primary.
Carlos grew up in an Army family. This gave him the opportunity to live in several places in the United States as well as Europe, Japan and Mexico. By the fifth grade, his father retired from active duty and the family settled in the Indianapolis area. Carlos graduated from Zionsville High School, where he was the Class President and involved in wrestling and soccer. Carlos earned a B.A. in Political Science from Wabash College in 2001 — participating in student government and Phi Gamma Delta. Carlos went straight to law school after graduating from Wabash, and in 2003 earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. His experience in the law has taught him the large impact good and bad public policy can have on a society.
Carlos worked in a variety of positions before serving the City of Indianapolis in the Mayor’s Office. As Director of West Coast Operations for Marathon Building Services, a large building services corporation, Carlos managed multiple crews and work sites for both private and military clients. Carlos worked as an International Manager for DFS Galleria, a subsidiary of Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennesy, responsible for preparing multimillion dollar purchases and distribution orders for clients in the U.S., Guam and Japanese markets. A bilingual speaker, Carlos has also worked as a Consultant for Zebulon Inc., providing advice on business management and expansion, demographic awareness and advertising for family-owned businesses in the Indianapolis Latino community. Carlos has studied overseas in Japan, Belgium and Mexico.
Community involvement and volunteerism have always been a big part of Carlos’ life. He participates in the HOSTS (Helping One Student To Succeed) reading program — a local peer mentoring program for young children in Indianapolis. Since college, Carlos has been volunteering his services throughout Central Indiana as a translator/interpreter for non-English speakers. Carlos also serves on the Board of Directors for The Boy Scouts of America, Crossroads of America Council and Beacon of Hope Center for Women, a support center for women and children victims of domestic violence.
