What are warts (HPV)? - 3D animation
This 3D animation was developed to provide an educational overview about warts. Warts are benign (not cancerous) skin growths that appear when a virus infects the top layer of the skin. Viruses that cause warts are called human papillomavirus (HPV), and different strains may cause them in different parts of the body. Warts can spread from one location on the body to another as well as from person to person by contact with the wart. Factors that increase the risk include use of public showers, working with meat, eczema and a weak immune system.

Overview of Skin Warts (Verrucae) | What Causes Them? Who Gets Them? | Subtypes and Treatment
Introductory lesson on Verrucae (Skin Warts). Verrucae are skin lesions caused by an infection with HPV, with some viral subtypes infecting certain areas of the body. Certain occupations increase the risk of transmission of warts. There are several subtypes of verrucae (ex. Verruca Vulgaris), which you will learn about in the lesson, including how to diagnose each wart clinically. Finally, we also discuss several different treatment options (topical wart treatments, wart creams), including different chemotherapeutic treatments for refractory cases.

Warts and verrucas are small lumps on the skin that most people have at some point in their life. They usually go away on their own but may take months or even years. Plantar warts are on your feet. Most warts are caused by the HPV virus.

Introductory lesson on Verrucae (Skin Warts). Verrucae are skin lesions caused by an infection with HPV, with some viral subtypes infecting certain areas of the body. Certain occupations increase the risk of transmission of warts. There are several subtypes of verrucae (ex. Verruca Vulgaris), which you will learn about in the lesson, including how to diagnose each wart clinically. Finally, we also discuss several different treatment options (topical wart treatments, wart creams), including different chemotherapeutic treatments for refractory cases.

Warts and verrucas are small lumps on the skin that most people have at some point in their life. They usually go away on their own but may take months or even years. Plantar warts are on your feet. Most warts are caused by the HPV virus.
A wart is sometimes called a corn.
