Angola: 11 Foreigners Held Over Illegal Diamond Dealings

Cuito — Eleven foreigners found involved in illegal exploration and sale of diamonds in central Bié province have been arrested this month in the region by the National Police.

The information was released on Tuesday in Luanda by the spokesperson for the National Police Bié command, intendent António Hossi.

According to the spokesperson, the detainees include four Mauritanians, four DR Congolese, three Conakry Guineans and were nabbed in the diamond producing locality of Seteca, municipality of Nharêa.

In Bié province, artisan diamond exploration is legally allowed in the municipalities of Chitembo, Cuemba, Camacupa, Andulo and Nhârea.
