Mary Lambert

Mary Lambert (born October 13, 1951) is an American film director. She has directed music videos, television episodes, and feature films, mainly in the horror genre.

Life and career

Lambert was born in Helena, Arkansas, the daughter of Martha Kelly and Jordan Bennett Lambert III, a rice and cotton farmer. Her younger sister is former U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Lambert graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a B.F.A.

Lambert directed Chris Isaak's first music video "Dancin'" and Janet Jackson's "Nasty" and "Control" music videos. She also directed videos for Annie Lennox, Mick Jagger, The Go-Go's, Whitney Houston, Alison Krauss, Live, Mötley Crüe, Queensrÿche, Sting, Debbie Harry, Tom Tom Club and others. She directed many of Madonna's early videos including "Borderline", "Like a Virgin", "Material Girl", "La Isla Bonita", and "Like a Prayer".

In 1987 she released her debut feature, the stylish and controversial Siesta, starring Ellen Barkin and Jodie Foster. It was nominated for the IFP Spirit Award for best first feature. She is known to horror fans for directing the 1989 adaptation of Stephen King's novel Pet Sematary and its sequel, Pet Sematary Two. More recently, Lambert directed 2005 Urban Legends: Bloody Mary and the 2011 Syfy horror film Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.

Betty Who

Jessica Anne Newham (born 5 October 1991), better known by her stage name Betty Who, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician based in New York City. She is signed to RCA Records.

Early life

Jessica Anne Newham was born in Sydney, Australia, where she lived until her mid-teens. Trained since the age of four as a cellist, she moved to the United States in 2007 to attend Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, whose alumni include Norah Jones, Rufus Wainwright, and Josh Groban.

Newham is also self-taught on piano and guitar, and wrote her first songs at age 14, and began performing as a singer-songwriter at age 16.

After high school at Frensham in the Southern Highlands, NSW, Newham attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. During her first semester, she met producer Peter Thomas who was also attending Berklee. Thomas suggested pairing Newham's songwriting with a more dreamy, anthemic production style. The two began writing new material together and developed Newham's sound over the next two years.

Washed Out

Ernest Greene (born October 3, 1982), better known by his stage name Washed Out, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer.

Life and career

Ernest Greene was born on October 3, 1982, in Perry, Georgia. After earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, Greene obtained a Master of Library and Information Science degree but was unable to find a job as a librarian. Greene moved back in with his parents and started producing songs in his bedroom studio, as well as working on recordings of dance music with Bedroom, a local band. He soon won the favor of a number of influential music bloggers after they found his music on his Myspace page. His first recordings have been described as "drowsy, distorted, dance pop-influenced tracks that brought to mind Neon Indian and Memory Tapes".

Washed Out's style has been identified with the chillwave movement. He has said hip hop influences the way he writes songs. The first two Washed Out EPs were released in August and September 2009. Washed Out made his debut New York City performance (his second live show ever) at Santos Party House. He has since performed at the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival and his song "Feel it All Around" is used as the opening theme for the US comedy TV series Portlandia.
