Afghanistan Tourism
Afghanistan seems like an unlikely destination for a summer vacation. If the travel advisories published by the State Department were not enough to discourage visitors, access to the country itself remains difficult. However, despite continuing military campaigns in the country, several organizations have taken the initiative to develop tourism in Afghanistan. War News Radio's Sarah Dwider has

Pakistan (Urdu: پاکِستان), officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a country in South Asia.[5][6][7][8] It has a 1,046 kilometre (650 mile) coastline along the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman in the south, and is bordered by Afghanistan and Iran in the west, India in the east and the People's Republic of China in the far northeast.[9] Tajikistan also lies very close to Pakistan but is separated by the narrow Wakhan Corridor. Thus, it occupies a crossroads between South Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.[10]
The region forming modern Pakistan was at the heart of the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and then later was the recipient of Vedic, Persian, Turco-Mongol, Indo-Greek and Islamic cultures. The area has witnessed invasions and/or settlements by the Aryans, Persians, Greeks, Arabs, Turks, Afghans, Mongols, Sikhs and the British.[11]
In addition to the Indian independence movement which demanded an independent India, the Pakistan Movement (led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah of the Muslim League), which also sought an independent India, sought an independent state for the majority Muslim populations of the eastern and western regions of British India. The British granted independence and also the creation of the Muslim majority state of Pakistan that comprised the provinces of Sindh, North-West Frontier Province, West Punjab, Balochistan and East Bengal. With the adoption of its constitution in 1956, Pakistan became an Islamic republic. In 1971, a civil war in East Pakistan resulted in the creation of Bangladesh.
Pakistan's history has been characterized by periods of military rule and political instability. It is a developing country that faces problems with high levels of poverty and illiteracy. It is also the sixth most populous country in the world and has the second largest Muslim population in the world after Indonesia.[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19] Pakistan has the second largest Shia Muslim population in the world.[14]. It is the world's only Muslim-majority nuclear state. Pakistan is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, Next Eleven economies and the D8.

STORYLINE:
Pakistan's Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday that Afghan refugees living in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, and a nearby city will be moved to camps elsewhere in Pakistan or will be asked to return home.
In a statement, the ministry cited security concerns for the decision.
Authorities believe the refugee settlements close to the wealthy confines of the capital provide easy shelter for criminals and even terrorists.
As news reached the areas to be affected by the decision, refugee camp representative Khalil Ullah, himself a Baglan province refugee for 27 years, said the government was acting under "external pressure" in the wake of the London transport network bomb attacks.
More than three million (m) Afghans have been living in Pakistan, fleeing wars, poverty and years of drought.
Thousands of them are living in Rawalpindi, a city near Islamabad, and in shanty homes on the outskirts of the Pakistani capital.
The ministry said in a statement that Afghans living in the two cities will be "relocated" to refugee camps elsewhere in Pakistan or they will be voluntarily repatriated to their homeland with assistance from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
The statement did not say when the process of refugee relocation will begin or how many Afghans are in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
A refugee, Samandar Khan, who has lived in Pakistan for the past twenty years after fleeing war in his homeland Afghanistan told APTN that there were no terrorists living in their area and that they weren't causing any trouble.
"The police come everyday and we are all living in peace." he said.
Millions of Afghans came to Pakistan after the Soviet Union invaded their country in 1979, many of them settled in camps scattered across Pakistan.
While a large number of Afghans have returned home after a US-led military operation ousted the Taliban militia from power in late 2001 for harbouring al-Qaida, about three million (m) others still live across Pakistan, according to a refugee count conducted jointly by Pakistan and UNHCR.

STORYLINE:
Uzbekistan is the latest nation feeling the effects of the worldwide slump in tourism.
Since the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington on September 11 the number of tourists travelling by air has plummeted.
As a consequence countries like Uzbeksitan, which rely on tourism as an important part of foreign income, have seen a dramatic drop in the number of visitors.
Official Uzbek government figures claim that tourism has dropped of 17 percent in the wake of September 11.
But according to hotel managers and souvenir sellers, the real figure is far higher.
Boasting some of Central Asia's most beautiful sites, Uzbekistan is usually the region's top tourist destinations.
Two of the most popular, Samarkand and Buchara, are under United Nations cultural protection.
Situated on the famous silk road, they are renowned for their ancient mosques, fortresses and mausoleums.
Tourism officials are finding it almost impossible to convince travellers that their country, which has a border with Afghanistan, is safe.
Local guides say there is almost no one visiting the famous Uzbek sites and their business and the economy is suffering.

The Gun Markets of Pakistan
In 2006, Suroosh Alvi was one of a handful of journalists who was able to get into the massive guns market in Pakistan's tribal areas -- home base for the Taliban since the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. He returned to Pakistan this month and found the entire country was a "powder keg ready to explode."

Hey everyone!
it's been a very very long time since I've uploaded anything on here but last month (september) I went to Afghanistan for 7 days to visit my dad and spend my 25th birthday with him since I was living in Dubai which is only a 3 hour flight to Kabul. When I travel to Afghanistan I stay in Kabul for the majority of my trip which is exactly what happened this time BUT I did manage to take a day trip to Panjshir Province. Panjshir is where my family is originally from, my mother was born there, my grandparents from both sides, etc...I thought about vlogging my trip because I figured Afghanistan is an interesting country that not many people have the chance to visit but once I arrived I was really just so caught up with seeing family and spending time with my dad that I kept forgetting to film everything with my camera... Also, now that snapchat is around it's much easier to use for traveling and what not... anyway, this video isn't an actual vlog it's just random clips on our way to Panjshir (which is a 3 hour drive from Kabul) The video has clips of the stops we made to reach our destination and the views. I don't explain much of anything in the video so if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section below.

wn.com/Panjshir, Afghanistan (Travel Diary)

Konami Digital Entertainment continues forth the ‘METAL GEAR SOLID V Experience’ with the latest chapter, METAL GEAR SOLID V: The Phantom Pain. Ushering in a new era for the franchise with cutting-edge technology powered by the Fox Engine, MGSV: The Phantom Pain, will provide players a first-rate gaming experience as they are offered tactical freedom to carry out open-world missions.
Nine years after the events of MGSV: GROUND ZEROES and the fall of Mother Base, Snake a.k.a. Big Boss, awakens from a nine year coma. The year is 1984. The Cold War serves as the backdrop as nuclear weapons continue to shape a global crisis. Driven by revenge, Snake establishes a new private army and returns to the battlefield in pursuit of the shadow group, XOF. The METAL GEAR SOLID team continues to ambitiously explore mature themes such as the psychology of warfare and the atrocities that result from those that engage in its vicious cycle.
One of the most anticipated games of the year with its open-world design, photorealistic visual fidelity and feature-rich game design, MGSV: The Phantom Pain will leave its mark as one of the hallmarks in the gaming industry for its cinematic storytelling, heavy themes, and immersive tactical gameplay. Key Features: - Open-World game design allowing players ultimate freedom on how to approach missions and overall game progression - Fox Engine delivers photorealistic graphics, thoughtful game design and true new-generation game production quality - Online connectivity that carries the experience beyond the consoles to other devices to augment the overall functionality and access to the game.
