Samples of Punic from the comedic play "Poenulus"
The comedic play "Poenulus" by the Roman playwright Titus Maccius Plautus is known for its Punic lines written in the Latin alphabet (and thus representing vowels).
Punic is a dialect of Phoenician that underwent changes caused by language contact to Berber languages (for example elision or reduction of short vowels) and later also by contact to Latin.

The official language of Algeria is Modern Standard Arabic (literary Arabic), as specified in its constitution since 1963. In addition to this, Berber has been recognized as a "national language" by constitutional amendment since 8 May 2002. Algerian Arabic and Berber are the native languages of over 99% of Algerians, with Algerian Arabic spoken by about 72% and Berber by 27.4%. French, though it has no official status, is widely used in government, culture, media (newspapers) and education (from primary school), due to Algeria's colonial history and can be regarded as being a de facto co-official language of Algeria. Kabyle, the most spoken Berber language in the country, is taught and partially co-official (with a few restrictions) in parts of Kabylie.
Malika Rebai Maamri, author of "The Syndrome of the French Language in Algeria," said "The language spoken at home and in the street remains a mixture of Algerian dialect and French words." Due to the number of languages and complexity involving those languages, Maamri argued that "[t]oday the linguistic situation in Algeria is dominated by multiple discourses and positions."

The Berbers or the Amazighs (Berber: ⵉⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖⴻⵏ, Imazighen / Imaziɣen in plural, and Amazigh in singular) are the ethnicity indigenous to North Africa west of the Nile Valley. They are distributed from the Atlantic Ocean to the Siwa Oasis in Egypt, and from the Mediterranean Sea to the Niger River. Historically they spoke Berber languages, which together form the "Berber branch" of the Afro-Asiatic language family. Since the Muslim conquest of North Africa in the seventh century, a large portion of Berbers have spoken varieties of Maghrebi Arabic, either by choice or obligation[citation needed]. After the invasion of north Africa by France people were "not only forced to speak French but that access to every non-French language was forbidden as well. Especially in school, Algerians were forced to speak French instead of their previous mother tongues; this included classical Arabic, the Berber language and all of its dialects. Algerians were required to speak a single language, French".[5] Foreign languages like French and Spanish, inherited from former European colonial powers, are used by most educated Berbers in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia in some formal contexts such as higher education or business.
Today, most of the Berber people live in Northern African countries such as Algeria and Morocco; a large Berber population is also found in Tunisia,[6] Libya, Mauritania, Mali and Niger, as well as large migrant communities living in France, Turkey and other countries of Europe.[7][8]

Moroccans, Algerians, Tunisians & Libyans are Berber not Arab. Therefore, Moroccans, Algerians, Tunisians & Libyans are not Semitic but Hamitic people who originate from the Hamite speaking people, the Amazigh (Berber) people. This video will show you the differences between a Hamitic Berber from North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia & Libya) and from that of a Semitic Arab from Saudi Arabia, Yemenm Oman etc.
DNA has proven that the majority of Moroccans, Algerians, Tunisians and Libyans who identify themselves as Arabs (Moroccan Arabs, Algerian Arabs), are descendants of Berbers who were Arabized during the Arab Invasion of North Africa. Today you cannot tell the difference between a Moroccan Berber and an Arabized Moroccan because genetically they are predominantly Berber whose ancestors abandonned their true Berber (Amazigh) identity: language and customs and forced to adapt the Arab invading one. The Berber (Amazigh) language of North Africa is of Hamitic origin, not Semitic. It is NOT one bit related to the Semitic languages like Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic but related more to other Hamitic Berber languages of North and Central Africa.
NORTH AFRICANS ARE BERBER NOT ARAB. Moroccans are not Semites, Algerians are not Semites, Tunisians are not Semites & Libyans are not Semites BUT Moroccans Are Hamites, Algerians Are Hamites, Tunisians Are Hamites & Libyans Are Hamites.

STORYLINE:
LEAD IN:
In Morocco more than 50 per cent of the population speak "Amazigh" - the official term for the Berber languages.
Amazigh is a group of dialects that are used from the Rif mountains in the north to the plains of Agadir and beyond.
Although the language has been purely oral until recently, it is now attracting attention with courses in the language and culture on offer.
It is also at the heart of a huge open-air annual concert.
STORYLINE:
At the annual Berber festival in Agadir, Raissa Talbensirt, one of the divas of Amazigh music performs a song about the struggles her people have been through to gain recognition.
Talbensirt is part of a generation who only sings and speaks in Amazigh.
Her compositions recall times past.
The Amazigh language is not only being protected through music in Morocco.
Backstage, musicians have gathered for a jamming session.

10. SOUNDBITE (Amazigh) Adulah Aourik, Artist and Amazigh Activist:
"What we want is to have Amazigh as the official language in the constitution. We feel that it will be appropriate to alter that part of the constitution that says the official language is Arabic and replace that with Amazigh. We don't want any other language."

STORYLINE:

Some of the changes (like the frequent loss of pharyngeal consonants) is also confirmed by native Punic inscriptions.
My Latin pronunciation here is meant to sound vulgar, so it is not 100% Classical Latin.
