COMOX VALLEY -- A Comox Valley man believes he has invented a solution to troublesome attacks on fishing lines by seals and sea lions...a device he calls the Orca-Stra. The small hand-held device looks similar to a flashlight but emits sounds similar to Orca whales when turned on and placed underwater.
Inventor/fisherman Ron McDonough says the device plays a recording of transient killer whales just after they've caught a seal and are dividing it up amongst themselves. He believes the sound serves as a strong deterrent to sea mammals that are bothering fishermen.
McDonough says the device gives short, 20 second bursts and is a safer, more humane method of scaring away mammals than using seal bombs, bear bangers, guns or slingshots that are often currently used.
The inventor hopes to have his product available through Comox Valley and Campbell River fishing stores in the near future.

A seal is a device for making an impression in wax, clay, paper, or some other medium, including an embossment on paper, and is also the impression thus made. The original purpose was to authenticate a document, a wrapper for one such as a modern envelope, or the cover of a container or package holding valuables or other objects. The sealing process is essentially that of a mould, with the final image represented on the device for making the impression by a mirror-image design, incised in sunken- (or counter-) relief or intaglio.
The seal-making device is also referred to as the seal matrix or die; the imprint it creates as the seal impression (or, more rarely, the sealing). If the impression is made purely as a relief resulting from the greater pressure on the paper where the high parts of the matrix touch, the seal is known as a dry seal; in all other cases a liquid or liquified medium (such as ink or wax) is used, usually in another color than the paper.
For legal purposes, the definition of a seal may be extended to include rubber stamps, or writing specified words ("seal" or "L.S.").

The small hand-held device looks similar to a flashlight but emits sounds similar to Orca whales when turned on and placed underwater.
Inventor/fisherman Ron McDonough says the device plays a recording of transient killer whales just after they've caught a seal and are dividing it up amongst themselves. He believes the sound serves as a strong deterrent to sea mammals that are bothering fishermen.
McDonough says the device gives short, 20 second bursts and is a safer, more humane method of scaring away mammals than using seal bombs, bear bangers, guns or slingshots that are often currently used.
The inventor hopes to have his product available through Comox Valley and Campbell River fishing stores in the near future.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of XSTAT 30 wound dressing, an expandable, multi-sponge dressing used to control severe, life-threatening bleeding from wounds in areas that a bandage cannot be placed in battlefield and civilian trauma settings.
XStat is a first-in-kind hemostatic device for the treatment of gunshot and shrapnel wounds. XStat works by injecting a group of small, rapidly-expanding sponges into a wound cavity using a syringe-like applicator. Each sponge contains an x-ray detectable marker so that it can be easily removed if it gets stuck in the body.
In the wound, the XSTAT sponges expand and swell to fill the wound cavity within 20 seconds of contact with blood. This creates a temporary barrier to blood flow and provides hemostatic pressure. This incredible speed is a remarkable boon, which could mean the difference between life and death.
The dressing can be used for up to four hours, which could allow time for the patient to receive surgical care. The device is available in packages of one or three syringe-style applicators containing 92 compressed, cellulose sponges that have an absorbent coating.
Early control of severe bleeding may prevent shock and may be life-saving. According to the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research, 30 to 40 percent of civilian deaths by traumatic injury are the result of bleeding. Of those deaths, 33 to 56 percent occur before the patient reaches a hospital.
The XSTAT 30 device is made by Oregon-based medical device company RevMedx, and was initially approved for military use,to plug severe wounds on the battlefield, in April 2014.

What is Persona 3?

It is an entirely different personality that emerges when a person is confronted with something from outside his world." Persona-users usually summon their Persona by firing a gun-like object called an Evoker at their head.
The main character of Persona 3 is a silent protagonist, named by the player at the start of the game. He is a teenage boy, orphaned as a child, returning to the city he grew up in ten years prior to attend Gekkoukan High School. After learning of his ability to summon a Persona, he joins SEES, which is composed mostly of students at his school. He is named Minato Arisato in the manga, and Makoto Yuuki in the movie adaptation. Author Ray Waru said he wrote “Secrets and Treasures” to highlight the material publicly available at Archives New Zealand in Wellington — where almost 100 kilometres (62 miles) of shelf space is crammed with historical artefacts. Alongside notable historical documents are curiosities like “Project Seal”, a top-secret US-New Zealand attempt to create a doomsday device to rival the nuclear bomb. The project was launched in June 1944 after a US naval officer noticed that blasting operations to clear coral reefs around Pacific islands sometimes produced a large wave, raising the possibility of creating a “tsunami bomb”. Explosive tests carried out in waters north of Auckland led scientists to conclude that the weapon was feasible and a series of 10 massive blasts offshore could create a 10-metre (33-foot) tsunami capable of inundating a small coastal city.

The purpose of this webinar will be to provide quality assurance, design engineers, project engineers and all medical device manufacturers the knowledge to make decisions regarding which tests should be used to validate their sterile barrier system. By focusing on specific tests as outline in ISO11607, each individual will have the opportunity to view actual test methods, determine appropriate test samples and identify pros and cons to each method. Some of the methods viewed will consist of Bubble Emission ( ASTM F2096), Microbial Ranking (ASTM F1608), Burst Testing (ASTM F1140), Seal Strength Testing (ASTM F88), and Dye Migration (ASTM F1929).

But continuing with 257.207
(2) The secretary of state and the officers designated by the secretary of state may prepare under the seal of the secretary of state and deliver upon request, a certified copy of a record maintained under this act and charge a fee as set forth in this act.
------- Wait-------- upon request you can get a copy of your official record (under the seal of the sec of state!!!) If you did…… do you think the “incident” you are fighting in court now… would be listed on your record yet??
(3) A certified computer-generated or paper copy of a record maintained under this act shall be admissible in a proceeding in a court in the same manner as the original record and shall be prima facie evidence of the contents of and the facts stated on the record.
--------Wait---------- Did they say “SHALL” be prima facie ?? Why yes.. they did..
(5) A court or the office of the clerk of a court of this state that is electronically connected by a terminal device to the computerized central file of the secretary of state may receive into and use as evidence in any case the computer-generated certified information obtained by the terminal device from the file.
A duly authorized employee of a court of record of this state may order a record for an individual from a secretary of state computer terminal device located in, and under the control of, the court, and certify in writing that the document was produced from the terminal and that the document was not altered in any way.
---- Wait--- …. Does that mean… that if you asked the clerk of the court they could access your official record and see for themselves that your current charges .. are not recorded…. ?? And this authorized person…. could be your “in” to the court of record??
