A Spoken word short film for those frustrated at Black History teaching in schools.
Disillusioned student Samuel King relays his grievances to his teacher that Black History Month isn't taught with as much depth and with as much pride in schools.
Samuel engages in a short rebuttal with his teacher, before arguing that education in school does little to satisfy his thirst for knowledge of influential people in Black history who seem to be elusive in the curriculum.
Samuel names the likes of Patricia E. Bath, King Musa I of Mali, Mary Prince, Sir Trevor McDonald, Ella Baker, Septimius Severus, Fuse ODG, Jamal Edwards, Garrett Morgan and Kwame Nkrumah as individuals he could be taught about.
"There seems to be a lot you haven't told us, and you shut down and hold back on the bold ones who stand against the way you're trying to mould us"

Top 10 Black History Month edition shoes of 2016. List consists of BHM editions of Nike shoes like the Nike Kyrie 2, Jordan Shoes like the Jordan Westbrook 0, and Adidas shoes like the Adidas D Lillard 2! All releasing today!
Since Black History Month edition shoes are releasing soon, I decided that I would rate them and make a video of them before they all hit retailers around the world. I was actually going to upload this video before the actual release date of most of the shoes that are on the list, but I had some life problems, so I just decided to upload this video right on the release date. This list was created based on looks and style, not performance or anything else. I also, decided to make an honorable mention to the Adidas D Rose 6 BHM because it just looks so good and that it would've gotten the number 3 ranking if news of its release didn't get leaked so late. anyways, I hope you will enjoy the video.

THE REASON WHY I THINK BLACK HISTORY MONTH IS AN AMERICAN SCAM!
Think about it?
Every year we celebrate Black history month but we never talk about reparations due to Black people and the descendants of those lives lost during the Trans Atlantic Slave trade.
And in my opinion Black history month is a shame because it's use as a divide and conquer ploy amongst Black people.
It's used to individually show a Black person that you can make it in White America and you will be accepted in White America if you create something that will make the White man wealthy or make his life easier.
That's why they continue to tell Black people that we don't need reparations and they use Oprah and JZ as examples of American success.
(But if Oprah and JZ went flat broke it would not impact Black Americans life one bit!)
That why during Black history month all we do is briefly talk about slavery but we never talk about the maldistribution of wealth that slavery caused to Black people.
We talk about Black athletes and we talk about the Black inventors
But Black inventors don't receive any monies towards their estate and that's because most were property and could not patent their inventions or state their claim.
That's why Black history month is never about Black revolutionaries.
Like John Horse, Nat Turner, Toussaint Louverture and many others.
But instead BLACK HISTORY MONTH is always about "THE FIRST BLACK MAN" to do this and that in an all White rule establishment.
It's like saying Black people had no civilization until we came to America and now we will be celebrated during 'Black History month'

Dr Gus Casely-Hayford, a Research Associate at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), gives a passionate talk about the rich historical evidence for lost African Kingdoms during Black History Month October 2015 to London Black Atheists at Conway Hall, London. The man who started Black History Month, Carter G Woodson, said, "If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated." Due to a very poor or non-existent teaching of African history, some people believe that Africans have no history, no architecture, no science, no technology prior to the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade days, and Colonialism era. Dr Gus shoots down this lazy stereotypical thinking with wit, reason, logic and evidence in an epic and fascinating talk.

The Tulsa race riot was a large-scale, racially motivated conflict on May 31 and June 1, 1921, in which a group of white people attacked the black community of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It resulted in the Greenwood District, also known as 'the Black Wall Street' and the wealthiest black community in the United States, being burned to the ground.
During the 16 hours of the assault, more than 800 people were admitted to local white hospitals with injuries (the two black hospitals were burned down), and police arrested and detained more than 6,000 black Greenwood residents at three local facilities. An estimated 10,000 blacks were left homeless, and 35 city blocks composed of 1,256 residences were destroyed by fire. The official count of the dead by the Oklahoma Department of Vital Statistics was 39, but other estimates of black fatalities varied from 55 to about 300.
The events of the riot were long omitted from local and state histories. "The Tulsa race riot of 1921 was rarely mentioned in history books, classrooms or even in private. Blacks and whites alike grew into middle age unaware of what had taken place."[3] With the number of survivors declining, in 1996, the state legislature commissioned a report to establish the historical record of the events, and acknowledge the victims and damages to the black community. Released in 2001, the report included the commission's recommendations for some compensatory actions, most of which were not implemented by the state and city governments. The state has passed legislation to establish some scholarships for descendants of survivors, economic development of Greenwood, and a memorial park to the victims in Tulsa. The latter was dedicated in 2010.

WE MAKE IT WORK LIKE TIM GUNN
***There is a certain part of the video where I say, 'Trans-Atlantic Railroad' instead of 'Trans-Continental Railroad.' I was thinking 'Trans-Atlantic slave trade' and 'Trans-Continental Railroad' at the same damn time, and my thoughts got ahead of my mouth. My bad.***
Hey Guys! Happy Black History Month… I guess.
I have a lot of conflicting feelings about Black History Month. On the one hand, I feel like something is better than nothing, but on the other hand, compartmentalizing ethnic/minority history further 'others' minorities and reinforces the idea that white/Eurocentric history is the standard for history in this country.
Without fail, every February you get the question: 'Why is there no white History Month?', and the answer is because every month is white History Month! We learn about white history every month of the year, with the implication that white history = American history just like white people = Americans. (And it's funny because for many Black Americans, American history is the ONLY history we have. Many of us can only trace our family lineage back a few generations until slavery. A lot of white families can trace their families back multiple generations to an 'Old Country,' yet are somehow seen as more American than ethnic minorities because they're white.)
Black people have been in this country for the last 500 years, but a common argument as to WHY we are not included in historical accounts of 'American' history is the assumption that we have been nothing but slaves or servants in this country. This couldn't be further from the truth. We have held important benchmarks in American History, from Fort Mose, the first sanctioned free Black city, established in 1738, to the artistic achievements of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, to Jackie Robinson's success in Major League Baseball in 1947 and beyond.
Is this not 'American' history? And why must we learn a whitewashed, white supremacist version that seeks to portray American history as white and Black history as 'other' for 11 months out of the year?
P.S. One of the responses I've seen to this whitewashing of American history/'Othering' of minority history are attempts to normalize minority history through the use of hashtags like #HistoricPOC, which utilizes pictures of various POC throughout history engaging in American culture. While I feel like people's hearts are in the right place, POC is NOT synonymous with Black, and celebrating non-Black POC during Black History Month is inappropriate and a form of Black erasure. Why #HistoricPOC and not #HistoricBlackPeople?
Talking about Black people *specifically* tends to make a lot of other, non-Black minorities/POC uncomfortable, and they often attempt to piggyback off of our movements by making them all-inclusive of POC. This has been discussed in my various 'All Lives Matter' videos and videos on anti-Blackness, because, imo, anti-Blackness is at the root of a lot of it.
Someone asked me about this on my 'Black Girls Are Popping' video, where I chose to speak to Black girls specifically instead of using the term 'WOC' or 'POC.' This is why. Sometimes people and their individual struggles need to be addressed specifically, and sometimes it can be erasure and offensive to lump all minorities together under the umbrella term of 'POC.'
Thanks for watching (and reading! This was a long one).

wn.com/So, It's Black History Month...
