Zooropa /zuːˈroʊpɑː/ is the eighth studio album by rock band U2. Produced by Flood, Brian Eno, and The Edge, it was released on 5 July 1993 on Island Records. Inspired by the band's experiences on the Zoo TV Tour, Zooropa expanded on many of the tour's themes of technology and media oversaturation. The record continued the group's experimentation with alternative rock, electronic dance music, and electronic sound effects that began with their previous album, Achtung Baby, in 1991.
U2 began writing and recording for Zooropa in Dublin in February 1993, during a six-month break between legs of the Zoo TV Tour. The record was originally intended as an EP to promote the "Zooropa" leg of the tour that was to begin in May 1993, but during the sessions, the group decided to extend the record to a full-length LP. Pressed for time, U2 wrote and recorded at a rapid pace, with songs originating from many sources. The album was not completed in time for the tour's resumption, forcing the band to travel between Dublin and their tour destinations in May to complete mixing and recording.

I'm not a fan of U2 and this, which isn't precisely their most acclaimed work, is the only album from them that I really like. Particularly the first side, which is what you can listen to here. And having been released in 1993, during the CD rise and vinyl waning era, nowadays "Zooropa" on vinyl is very difficult to find at a reasonable price. Even worse taking into account that most copies offered online (the colored vinyl ones) are counterfeits. It's a shame that, as a U2 non-fan, I wasn't interested in this record when it was released. I held it many times when crate-digging at the local stores back in 1993, but didn't even listen to it. And now it's the only truly enjoyable U2 release to me. This copy is an original Colombian pressing in near mint condition that I recently could find ...
http://proguitarshop.com/free-pedal-friday U2 "Zooropa" guitar lesson. The next "Riff of the Day" uses not one, but two Boss DD-7 Digital Delays plus a ZVex Super Seek Wah to recreate the spaced out sounds from The Edge. By setting one delay for 1/8th notes and the other dotted 1/8th, you can achieve the same complex rhythm with very sparse playing. The wah sound locking into the tempo is crucial in recreating Zooropa's "bubbling" quality so the new Super Seek Wah with Tap Tempo is a must. The Edge also tunes a half step below (Eb) to give the root note a heavier sound. Enjoy your Riff of the Day guitar lesson!

U2-Zooropa+lyrics
(What do you want?)
(What do you want?)
Zooropa...vorsprung durch technik
Zooropa...be all that you can be
Be a winner
Eat to get slimmer
Zooropa...a bluer kind of white
Zooropa...it could be yours tonight
We're mild and green
And squeaky clean
Zooropa...better by design
Zooropa...fly the friendly skies
Through appliance of science
We've got that ring of confidence
And I have no compass
And I have no map
And I have no reasons
No reasons to get back
And I have no religion
And I don't know what's what
And I don't know the limit
The limit of what we've got
Don't worry baby, it'll be alright
You got the right shoes
To get you through the night
It's cold outside, but brightly lit
Skip the subway
Let's go to the overground
Get your head out of the mud baby
Put flowers in the mud baby
Overground
No particular place names
No particular song
I've been hiding
What am I hiding from
Don't worry baby, it's gonna be alright
Uncertainty can be a guiding light
I hear voices, ridiculous voices
Out in the slipstream
Let's go, let's go overground
Take your head out of the mud baby
She's gonna dream up
The world she wants to live in
She's gonna dream out loud
She's gonna dream out loud
